EPISODE 06

Someone has broken into my house

and tripped on several mechanisms,

but that person has already left.

Although rumors of the Sixth Beast Talisman have been circulating in the martial world,

there is a cacophony of conflicting news.

In reality, nobody is truly interested in the Beast Talisman.

However, it appears someone is looking for this Beast Talisman once again,

and they are employing cruel methods.

I can't allow the tragedy of yesteryear to repeat,

so I must find a way to catch the murderer.

Someone's coming again!

Don't move!

Jinyiwei is on duty.

It's Captain Mu.

The traps aren't bad.

These are mainly done for fun

to fend off wild animals and thieves,

and not meant to harm anyone.

Come,

Captain Mu.

Please have a seat.

Please drink some tea.

You seem nervous.

Seeing the presence of Jinyiwei

can be scary.

A Guilty Conscience!

Captain Mu came looking for me, what is it regarding?

You work for the Wan Family Silver House,

why do you live so far away?

It's cheaper here.

The raw materials for craftsmen are very expensive,

and sometimes the noise from hammering is loud

so it's not good to disturb the neighbors.

I heard

you've been assisting the Yamen investigation on the arson case these days.

That's not much,

just helping with a few chores.

You're a scholar,

went to Yizhuang to help?

Regarding this...

What's wrong with helping?

Not there to get rid of evidence?

For example, some of the bodies were injured by mechanical devices.

What do you mean by that?

Stubborn!

When the first murder case occurred

about 10 days ago between 7am and 9am,

where were you?

Ten days ago...

It's the day we both went to Qiuyue Pavilion, right?

What do you mean we both went to Qiuyue Pavilion?

That day we were after the fugitive,

I fell asleep not too long after.

Who can prove this?

This...

Nobody.

At 4:15am three days ago,

where were you?

Three days ago...

I was on guard duty at Yizhuang.

That's not true.

Three days ago between 3am to 7am,

you are not at Yizhuang.

How does Captain know?

That you don't need to worry.

Oh... oh...

I remember now.

That wild boar that always mess up house went to Yizhuang.

In order for me to catch it,

I'd spent four hours.

Who can prove it?

Captain Mu, please take a look.

Is the Captain suggesting

that you suspect I'm related to the murder case?

Last year, Shen Lian, a Jinyiwei from the Jiajing era, was posthumously awarded the title 'Loyal and Compassionate.'

It was later discovered that several of Shen Lian's descendants had been murdered.

Could that be

related to this recent case?

It's the same massacre arson,

and your family name is 'Shen.'

What kind of reasoning is this?

Is it wrong to have 'Shen' as a family name?

You have a motive.

Let's say

you're a survivor from back then

and are now seeking revenge.

Ah, this...

Your imagination is really impressive.

However, I'm from the Shen Family Village in Daming Province

and my ancestors have no connection with Shen Lian.

Did you arrive in Licheng six months ago?

Before your arrival,

both Qihe and Changqing experienced family massacres.

The modus operandi is identical to these murder cases.

But I haven't been to these two places.

Captain Mu,

how can you simply take other people's belongings?

Nevertheless,

you're a prime suspect.

You must come with me now to the Jinyiwei jail.

Based on those previous speculations,

you're arresting me.

Isn't that unreasonable?

To a Jinyiwei,

it's enough.

Captain Mu,

you came here alone, right?

So what?

Do you still want to resist?

In that case,

then...

farewell!

Stop!

It seems during the event 8 years ago,

the Jinyiwei gathered lots of information.

I must find a way to obtain it.

The murderer is extremely ruthless,

and Xiao Liu has been killed.

We should be more cautious.

Aiya...

Today is the last day

and there are still no clues.

It's obvious we can't avoid punishment.

Inspector,

why don't we catch a few scapegoats at the pier to admit guilt?

I've already made arrangements.

Let's go there now.

Stop him!

Block him!

He's the family massacre murderer.

You take your men and search everywhere.

Arrest him alive!

What?

How can that be?

Master Shen appears to be a very nice person.

Since

the three-day period is up,

let's arrest him first.

Furthermore, we have Jinyiwei support.

Yes, sir!

He's over here!

Block him!

Let's search over there.

What's happening recently?

So many are dying.

You...

Who are you?

Ah Wen.

I didn't expect it is really you,

Inspector Lin!

Where did I reveal myself?

Xikui Sheng

is a slang used by the escort groups.

With Master Shen's Xikui Sheng assistance,

I believe the case will be resolved swiftly.

Xikui Sheng

meaning is 'Martial Artist,' right?

Master Shen is well-informed.

Li Ren and Shi Lun's family pigeons show they were once members of the escort business.

After the first murder massacre occurrance,

our miss came to the villa with her family to escape trouble

and even hired many martial experts for protection.

I also heard Master Wan has a previous venture in the escort business.

The murderer is killing those engaging in the escort business,

and I also overheard by chance that

fifteen years ago,

the entire Wu Family escort service was destroyed.

Perhaps this could be the connection?

When the fire started,

I wasn't even at the scene.

How did Master Shen suspect me?

After the killing,

you poured some oil

and light the incense placed on the oil.

You also spread a layer of straw

so that when the incense burns reaches the bottom,

it will ignite the straws to start the fire,

giving Inspector Lin plenty of time to get off the scene.

Inspector Lin came to Licheng five years ago, right?

With the right intent,

there's enough time to gather detailed information about these families,

and as an inspector, you are able to deal with any evidence at the crime scene.

As a quasi-Houtian rank martial expert,

you have the ability to kill swiftly.

In the second murder massacre,

the Shi family, who were on alert, still had their entire family murdered.

That's because Inspector Lin used his status to gain their trust

and killed them by surprise.

However, Constable Liu saw you commit the murder,

so you killed Constable Liu as well.

It seems

dragging Master Shen to look into this case earlier

is a mistake.

That is why,

Inspector Lin,

who are you really?

My real name is Wu Heng,

the survivor of the Wu escort service that was destroyed.

If this is the case,

both murders at Qihe and Changqing

presumably are your work too.

Tan Jin,

Deng Zhi,

Li Ren,

Shi Lun and Wan Yun

were previously our Wu Family service escorts.

But for some government silvers,

they had my entire Wu family killed.

If I hadn't been sent away to the capital by my father when I was still young,

I'm afraid I would already be dead.

How could that be?

Grandpa, he...

Wan Yun is my last enemy.

It doesn't matter if you found out

since he'll die today.

Step aside, Shen Wen!

I don't want to hurt the innocent.

Then Constable Liu is not innocent?

He should be blamed for seeing something he shouldn't.

Anyone stopping me from taking revenge

shall be killed by me.

There's nothing to sympathize.

I'm sorry.

If you had come any later,

I would have been killed.

Who asked you not to wait for me?

Jinyiwei.

I understand now.

You gave a good performance.

Four Hours ago

So what?

Do you still want to resist?

I don't dare.

But I have something to show you.

This is,

Six Harmony Beast Talisman.

Bull Beast Talisman

So you have a Beast Talisman too?

This Beast Talisman was from the pigeon coop in Shi Mansion.

The same Shi Mansion that burned down three days ago?

That's right.

The murderer's objective must be this Beast Talisman.

Aren't you the murderer?

Captain Mu already knew it didn't make sense for me to be the murderer,

but she had a preconception that I am a bad person.

So, regardless of what I did,

she still thinks I'm guilty.

You're suggesting I wronged an innocent person?

I wouldn't dare!

The fact is, Captain Mu wants the Beast Talisman.

I am willing to hand it over,

but Captain Mu needs to assist me in arresting someone.

Arrest someone?

The murderer behind the Qinan massacre cases,

Inspector Lin.

Him?

That's right.

That's the fact.

Your conclusion is just a guess?

There is no other evidence.

To a Jinyiwei,

this is enough.

Mm...

If there were evidence,

I would have reported it directly to the officials.

At this point, we have no choice but to lure him out.

Then how do you know his next target and when?

Are you planning to follow him?

Inspector Lin is very vigilant.

I tried spying on him before,

but he got away easily.

However,

I have a plan to force him to take action.

Oh..

The first murder case happened

when Jinyiwei were sent citywide to capture Luo Qingning.

At that time, the city focused on the Qiuyue Pavilion in the south.

So Inspector Lin seized the chance to kill Li Ren's family in the north.

During the second murder case,

constables worked diligently around the clock to find the real culprit.

Next, I questioned if the Qihe and Changqing murder cases

followed the same pattern of taking advantage of city chaos.

So it's easy to guess when the murderer will strike next.

By chasing me, a murder suspect, around the city tonight,

the murderer will naturally go after his next target.

Why can't I just arrest him directly?

If you don't put on a show,

you won't catch him, given Inspector Lin's caution.

You dare underestimate me?

Then I'll go ahead first.

I didn't expect Jinyiwei to participate in this kind of vendetta.

Stop talking nonsense and surrender immediately.

Then we'll see if you are that capable.

Freeze!

Miss,

you should go inside and hide for a while.

The murderer will be brought to justice soon.

Then you be careful.
