The closer we seem to get, the further it moves from us.

-Water damage, which turned into black mold. -[groans]

We're still waiting for flooring.

Oh, don't even get me started on that.

It just seems like it's obstacles after obstacles.

[Lee] I mean, you're not gonna like what I'm gonna say but...

good things come to those that wait.

[Deon] I hear Lee. I really do.

-But we've been waiting for this house for a while. -Yeah.

[Deon] And with all the recent issues that even sets us back further.

Thankfully, Derrico made sure that he kept me in the loop with everything.

And while I appreciate it, I'm still wondering

when will we ever get good news?

Listen, I don't know what you guys got going on,

but I'm going to Mount Charleston very soon,

to go snow skiing, 45 minutes away.

And I want all of you guys to come with me.

[all in excitement] Yeah!

I don't know about that.

I think by you guys coming, it'll help get rid of some of that stress

that you have with the house.

Let's forget about it all.

And for three days, let's go have some serious fun.

I mean, respectfully, Lee, we're Black.

I mean, you know,

on average, Black person do not ski for many reasons.

You also told me the same thing about camping.

It's the truth.

Culturally we're afraid of hurting ourselves.

We don't wanna be in the cold.

If it wasn't for you, like I've never even had

someone invite me in all my life.

Like, I know nothing about like,

[Deon] I mean, I have always wanted to go skiing.

Growing up in Detroit, there's tons of snow.

So it just seemed like the thing to do.

But again, I never had anyone to introduce me to it.

My mother didn't ski.

None of my peers or friends growing up skied.

I am from a region

where we don't get snow and it's too cold.

I don't like being in the cold.

I am sitting on a heating pad as we speak.

[Deon] And what about, do they have like, warming spots?

Um, there are warming spots. There's yurts.

-[Deon] What is it? -Yurts?

[Lee] Yeah, it's like a outdoor shelter.

It's like almost like a tepee tent type of thing.

Anyone ever fall off the chairlift?

Not that I've ever seen in my 20 years of skiing.

I've never seen it happen.

I see people dangling.

-You watch on social media. -Social media is a lie.

It's not always accurate.

I will ski.

But I need somebody with me.

Because you're skiing for the first time,

you don't know what's gonna happen.

I don't wanna break anything.

I don't wanna twist my ankle or nothing like that.

Someone got hit by a tree?

Or you may ask has anyone ever hit a tree?

[Lee] Well, yeah, trees don't come out and tackle people.

But again, if you're careless, you could go into a tree.

But they're so far away.

It's not never gonna happen.

What happens if something does happen?

Like, someone falls, hurt themselves,

how do you get help?

There's a lot of ski patrol. They're really awesome out there, yeah.

-Okay. -[Deon] And then financial.

-I can only imagine the costs. -That's the biggest thing.

Everything with 14 children is gonna cost a lot.

The good news is, I'll make some phone calls.

I'm sure we could get a nice group rate or something like that.

I will personally make sure that they have everything

for the entire family in advance.

I was taking her out for Valentine's Day.

When I took her to the house, she was already thinking that the house was done.

She thought her surprise for Valentine's Day...

Yeah, so we kind of got into it.

We did hug it out.

-That was good. -But it still has me questioning,

"Where really are we?"

'Cause we still never went to dinner.

You know, if you're not communicating, with her,

what's going on in the house,

that's gonna cause some upset with her.

It's like, I don't wanna talk about it now.

It's like, when you leave your job, you leave your job there.

Karen and I have gone through a lot of tension here, recently.

Putting it mildly,

we've had some rough patches.

We've had the issue with Darian in her college.

You know, it's been very stressful going through

the house ordeal and the money pit of it.

So I'm hoping, you know, that we can get together

and just relight that fire

that... had sort of temporarily been

blown out, due to the tension.

Take what you know and what she wants to know,

-and give it to her. -Yeah.

I think that'll just make life itself better.

I'm feeling good.

to our trip to Mount Charleston.

I'm very excited to be going on this ski trip.

It is extremely hard getting winter clothing for 14 children.

Snow gear, gloves, hats.

And I want all of us to match,

so we can stand out for safety purposes.

I was able to get all of the snow gear that we need in wholesale.

See? I am a good shopper.

And Derrick, what is this you're reading?

which is only a 45-minute drive from Las Vegas.

A lot of people don't know this.

They think that Vegas is all desert.

But right outside the city, it's snow, skiing, mountains, you name it.

[Deon] This is nice.

-Yes. -[Karen] It is really beautiful.

[GG] My cousin, Simone,

she's my first cousin's daughter.

She has looked out for me in so many ways.

So I asked Simone to come and go with us.

more time to focus on the kids and not on me.

Do you guys know how to ski?

I'm 35 and I've never skied before.

We've never skied before.

Black people don't usually ski.

I've been trying to get you to go

skiing, hiking, camping, and horseback riding.

So last year we went camping.

Or who invited me skiing.

For you to invite us,

I know I can trust it.

And it's a good sport that, you know, maybe it's one of the kids

So for us to get ready to get out here into the snow,

it's a lot of work.

So divide and conquer.

That's the method that Derrico and I always use.

We're gonna have y'all layered up. Okay?

[Karen] And normally, I try to give us at least three hours comfortable.

Because, it's a constant production going on.

[Deon] Everyone needs to make sure they've urinated.

So once the snow suit goes on, Poppy don't want to take it back off.

So it's very, very time consuming.

[exhales hard]

Mommy wore out.

I gotta lean back for a minute. [sighs]

We should've just put it on last night

and just slept in a bed like this.

Like, seriously.

Babies, did y'all have to use the bathroom?

[Karen] Seeing my babies out here, enjoying and playing in the snow,

it feels great. But I think it's best

that I just sit in the car and watch them from here,

where it's nice and cozy and warm.

[wheezing and coughs]

[Deonee] The climbing up is a freaking workout.

And that's a baby mountain.

Climbing up that thing, my gosh, I don't know how people hike.

I'm so hot.

I hated climbing up the hill.

So it's not just straight hard snow.

It's deep... [indistinct]

-Poppy, it's a workout. -[Deon exclaims]

I decided to walk up Mount Everest.

[breathing heavily]

I didn't think I would ever make it to the top.

But I finally made it up there,

while Karen is safely in the warm truck.

I never saw the fun in cold.

You had to put on 500 layers.

I grew up in that. That part was lit.

That's the thing too. I don't know nothing about that layer of life.

Poppy, are you gonna go?

-I'm just catching my breath. -Okay.

So in Detroit, I was a city sledder.

Because as children, that was one of the free, fun things

that we could do from the snowplows coming through the streets.

And we'll pack it up in like, little small hills.

But I mean, this is a serious mountain

that I'm having to go up and down.

I'm not used to that.

The sacrifices that I make for my family.

But if the ski slopes are any faster than this,

that we come out of this skiing alive.

Karen and I have had so much tension and stress

between the two of us lately,

so I think this time away gives us the ability

to recalibrate our relationship.

The snow activities are more for the children,

but I want to do something special for Karen as well.

and he ended up with a malignant tumor in her head.

that we as older people go through.

Even though this is our first time ever skiing,

Poppy getting ready to show them how we do it.

I tell you what, before the end of the day,

Poppy is coming down on one of these big ones.

We arrange for two instructors to split up our large family

and teach us in smaller groups.

We should then be ready to hit these bunny slopes.

And of course, the biggest hill is my personal goal.

I unfortunately will not be joining you

because I have a sprained knee,

but I will be inside drinking some hot chocolate with lots of sugar

and feeling nice and warm.

So when we put our ski on,

we put our toe in the alligator mouth,

and then we push down because he bites us.

So we're all just going to do our right foot and push!

Poppy was definitely the best at skiing

because he can ski very, very good.

Skiing was so much fun. Even when we kept falling.

I fell a lot, but I still try to get the hang of it.

It was so much fun.

This one is a big one to me.

As a young, vibrant father who have a responsibility

There's times here and there,

periodically, where I have the feeling
