[A River Runs Though It]

[Episode 28: There's a secret I want you to know Part II]

Is there any use to have many people like me?

The person I like

seems like she will never turn her head and look at me.

Do you have someone you like?

Who is she?

I promise I won't tell anyone.

♫ You walked into my sight ♫

♫ Warm just like a sunny day ♫

Why are you looking at me like that?

Don't tell me you like me?

What if... it really was you?

♫ Those two worlds are walking farther away ♫

♫ The only thing left is my longing ♫

♫ Who also once yearned to exchange using the souls? ♫

Stop joking with me.

We're brother and sister.

How could you like me?

You sound like you didn't think before saying that.

♫ I wish dearly that besides you ♫ ♫ You can have the most considerate companion ♫

Do you really like me?

♫ I can only pretend and lie ♫ ♫ I go off wandering with a facade of happiness ♫

Xia Xiaoju,

you think too much.

How could I like you?

How could I like a girl

like you, who doesn't act at all like a girl?

I just wanted to tell you that

I have two pharmacology classes with Professor Li tomorrow morning.

I can't be late or else I will fail the class.

Why didn't you tell me earlier?

I just thought of it too.

Let's go.

Hurry. Let's hurry back to school.

My legs hurt.

Let's go.

Oh my god, I'm so tired.

And my legs hurt.

Why don't we find a place to rest?

No, you have class tomorrow morning.

Let's walk back.

At worst, we just won't sleep tonight.

Thank you, Boss.

Here, take the flashlight.

- Hurry and get some rest. - Thank you Boss. - Take care.

Take the flashlight.

This lousy bike doesn't even have a bell.

It's all right. The brake still works.

Get on.

Wait.

Will the bike... break down?

I'm leaving if you don't get on.

Let me get on!

Let's go.

Hold tight.

Fat Xiaoju, you should lose weight.

I'm not fat.

Ride properly!

Can you even ride a bike?

Hold on tight.

The stars are so beautiful!

Since I moved into the city,

I haven't seen such beautiful stars.

Stop joking with me.

We're brother and sister.

How could you like me?

Datu, have you ever seen such beautiful stars?

Datu.

Datu!

Datu, stop!

Datu.

If I hadn't stopped you,

we would have both fallen into the ditch.

What were you thinking?

There are holes in the road. Can you try to stay focused?

I was focused.

I couldn't see the road clearly with how you held the flashlight.

Let's go.

Hello, Chang Le.

How did leading the group today go?

Did it go well?

The bus has left.

And I'm on my way back to school by bike.

Are you not back yet?

It's a long story.

My phone is almost out of power.

I'll tell you about it tomorrow during class.

Where exactly are you now?

I'll call a taxi to pick you up.

It's not safe for a girl like you to be out at night alone.

No need for that.

I'm with my friend now.

We'll be back around 10:30 p.m.

Hello?

It's really dead.

I didn't think he would care so much about you.

Well, it's because I'm a girl that everyone likes.

Classmate, you must have a misunderstanding about yourself.

Are you getting on the bike or not?

If you keep standing here, we won't be able to get back to the dorms at 10:30 p.m.

You won't ride into a ditch again, right?

Are you going or not?

Let's go.

Ride well.

Don't ride on the stones.

There are so many stones here.

If you keep riding like this, the bike will fall apart.

If you keep saying so, the bike will really fall apart.

Sit tight.

We are finally back before the dorms close.

Comrade Datu, you have worked hard.

Any rewards?

What reward?

Hurry and ride. I'm exhuasted.

Xiaoju. [Female Dormitory Building No. 25]

Chang Le, why are you here?

Have you been waiting for me?

No, along my way, I just happened to see you come back.

What a coincidence.

Well, I'm back now.

Don't worry about me.

And it's so late now.

Hurry and go back to rest.

- Okay, I'll get going then. - Okay.

You should also get some rest.

- Bye bye. - Bye bye.

Fat Xiaoju, why aren't you heading back to the dorms?

The lights will be out soon.

Look at you.

When can you be a gentleman like Chang Le?

What? I'm exhausted from riding you all the way here.

Yet he is a gentleman for standing here and waiting a bit for you?

He is gentle and considerate,

but you scold and be mean to me.

Ask yourself, how are you a gentleman?

Are you just leaving like that?

Ride slowly.

Lu Shiyi! Lu Shiyi!

Why are you back so late?

No reason. I had some stuff I had to do.

Why are you here so late?

Lu Shiyi,

I haven't seen you for six months after I got the internship.

It's rare for us to meet. Do you have to make such a long face?

I'm at least a girl, right?

What's up then?

We'll have a graduation party on Sunday. [Entrance Ticket]

I want to invite you to go there with me.

I'm leaving here since I'm graduating soon.

I don't know if we'll have the time to meet each other in the future.

You won't say no to such a small request, right?

I don't want to refuse you,

but I think I have something to do that day.

I can't go there, so...

How about this? I'll give you the ticket.

If you really don't have time, then you can forget it.

Anyway, I hope you can come.

Okay, go get some rest.

Lu Shiyi.

You like Xia Xiaoju, right?

And I also know you haven't confessed to her.

Then you should come to the graduation party.

Otherwise, what if I tell her your secret?

Get some rest.

I said I didn't look at her.

Okay, fine. I won't explain to you, okay?

Break up... Let's break up!

Don't try to scare me with this.

If I break up with you, can't I find a girlfriend?

Is Xu Menglu insane?

Qiu Le Tao walked in front of me, how could I not look at her?

Xu Menglu became jealous because of this.

Is she insane?

You deserve it.

I deserve it.

Le Tao walked in front of me, so I looked at her.

I still can't forget her.

Do you still like Le Tao?

I always liked her, even if we broke up.

What about Xu Menglu?

Let me tell you, brother. Reality is not like a novel.

You can only like one.

If I let you choose now, who will you choose, Le Tao or Xu Menglu?

Say something!

Okay, you deserve it.

Who are you texting?

- It's a secret. - Secret?

Is it Huang Jun?

How can that be?

Huang Jun is only just a small part of my youth. I'm way over him now.

There's nothing between us now.

A small part of my youth?

You said that quite well. It's quite unrestrained.

I want to write it into my novel.

Writer Gui, your novel is quite popular on the campus network.

Don't forget to give me copyright payment.

If this novel can really be published, I definitely won't forget you.

Did you hear that the Medical School Department is holding a graduation party?

At their graduation party, in addition to having their own activities,

the other departments and clubs are also invited to perform there.

Why don't we get a ticket and have some fun?

Why does such a fun event

not happen in our department?

Think about how someone has to spend five years in medical school.

They finally graduated with difficulty.

How could other departments compare to the feeling of having to study for another year?

I can quite understand.

That's right, Xiaoju. We are graduating soon.

Shiyi still has to study for another year, right?

Should we prepare a gift to encourage him?

Do you think he is someone who lacks presents?

[Jiangzhou University]

Chang Le?

Isn't he the most handsome guy in Xia Xiaoju's department?

Why are you searching for him?

Get lost!

You finally realized that Chang Le treats Xia Xiaoju differently?

I already realized he looked at her in a different way a long time ago.

You're so dull.

Why didn't you tell me earlier if you knew?

It's not too late to tell you now.

Think about it. Xia Xiaoju will graduate soon.

After graduating, she'll start working.

But you're different. Those in the Medical Department have to study for five years.

Then you have to study for your master's and doctorate.

One of you will work in the society,

and the other one will study in a university.

There will be less and less time for you to meet.

Besides, Xia Xiaoju has a good personality.

And she is pretty.

Maybe someone else will pursue her and succeed.

I know.

You're afraid that if Xia Xiaoju doesn't like you

and if you confess, you can't be friends anymore.

Brother, I thought of a good solution for you.

Invite Xia Xiaoju to watch a movie this week.

You should arrive late.

Go into the cinema after the movie begins.

At that time, the cinema will be dark.

It'll be hard to find your seats.

Then you can hold Xia Xiaoju's hand.

You can keep holding her hand like that.

Of course, if she takes her hand out of yours,

that's fine.

Simply said, you don't have a chance.

But if she doesn't let go,

it means you have a chance.

You just have to take the initiative.

How is that?

Just so-so.

You have to try.

Don't you even dare try?

Then you can just wait for her to become Chang Le's girlfriend.

Don't talk nonsense.

You kicked me.

Why are you looking at me like that?

Don't tell me you like me?

What if... it really was you?

Why didn't you pull me?

Pull you?

Are you excrement? Why would I pull you? (T/N: Pull and excrete are the same word but used in a different context.)

I'd like a pig rather than you.

It can't be.

I must be thinking too much.

How prepared are you for the exam this time?

- Lin You. - Lin You.

- Xiaoju, Le Tao. - Your class is finished?

Are you going to dance?

I am going to see Cheng Lang first.

There was a big bug in the campus network yesterday.

He stayed up all night to fix it.

I want to buy breakfast for him.

You haven't seen your boyfriend for one night, yet you already miss him?

You've been together for so long.

You're still so lovey-dovey.

Who said an old couple can't be lovey-dovey?

Of course, you can.

We'll head to class then.

Okay, hurry and go then.

- Bye bye. - Bye bye.

By the way, can you ask the teacher for an excuse note for me?

You still can't let him go?

They've been together for two years.

I've already let him go.

I just feel a bit uncomfortable.

But it's okay, let's go.

You should find a boyfriend.

This is the best way to let someone go.

What are you talking about?

Class is starting soon. Let's hurry and go.

You...

Why don't you ever listen to what I say?

Cheng Lang, I'm off to play basketball.

Okay.

Lin You, you are here.

Lin You.

I brought you breakfast.

Have you fixed the bug?

It can be accessed normally now.

Why aren't you at the dance studio for class today?

I asked for half an hour's leave.

I brought you two things.

One is breakfast.

Guess what the other thing is.

Let me think. The other is a girlfriend, who cares about me and loves me, right?

These love letters were sent to my classroom.

They didn't even do any research beforehand.

Did they think that because you are often in the computer room

you are majoring in computers?

Is that true?

Are you reading it?

Do you want to pursue something with them?

How can these be comparable to the breakfast my girlfriend brought?

Let me look at what you brought.

You made the desk a mess again.

Eggs, soybean milk and...

Cheng Lang, come here and look.

What's wrong?

These are the materials I asked my classmates abroad to organize.

It contains rankings of the Computer Science Department [World University Rankings]

and exam requirements for universities around the world.

With your current situation,

I think you can succeed if you apply.

Lin You. Although the internet bubble in the country is quite serious now,

I still believe its future is promising.

And if I'm going to study abroad, what about you?

What if I go with you?

What do you mean?

I'll tell you after the medical school graduation party tonight.

Xiaoju.

[Entrance Ticket]

Do you have an entrance ticket for the medical school graduation party?

Can you go with me?

Xia Xiaoju.

Why are you still here?

Aren't we going to have lunch? Let's go.

I'll go later.

Why are you here?

I...

Do you have time this Sunday?

I want to invite you to watch the newly-released movie, 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.'

I heard it's quite good.

I just agreed to go to the medical school graduation party with Chang Le.

You can watch it alone.

Tell me if it was good or not later.

It's a graduation party for medical school.

You're in the Tourism Department, why are you even going?

My friend invited me, it would be ungracious to refuse their kindness.

Xiaoju, you can take Le Tao and the others with you.

Okay.

They wanted to go there as well.

I'm sorry. I don't have any more tickets.

Or I would surely take you with us this time.

I don't have so much spare time.

Lu Shiyi, where are you going?

Xiaoju, give these to Le Tao and the others.

Thank you.

Shiyi, Shiyi.

Let me tell you, do you know who will attend this graduation party?

I don't care. What does it have to do with me?

I heard my friend say that Chang Le will go on stage to sing,

and he is confessing to Xiaoju.

What?

No wonder he asked Xia Xiaoju to go with him.

Turns out that was what he was planning.

You have to hurry, or else someone else will steal your chance.

[Entrance Ticket]

Does he want to steal?

He has to see who he is stealing from.

[Youth Never Drops Way]

Is that okay?

- Have you tuned yours? - Yes.

Shiyi.

I'll talk with you later.

Lu Shiyi.

Why are you here so early?

The party hasn't begun yet.

I'm here to see if Huang Jun needs any help.

- I'll go with you. - Okay.

I'll take you to find my classmates. They're decorating.

It's okay. I'll just find a place to sit.

Okay.

Look over here. It's decorated quite nicely, right?

Yes. The atmosphere is good.

Did you hear that the most handsome guy in the Tourism Department is taking the chance

to sing a love song for a girl?

It will definitely be very lively.

I didn't hear that.

If a boy is willing to sing a love song to me on this stage,

I would agree immediately to be his girlfriend.

What if the girl doesn't like him?

Or if someone takes the chance before him?

What do you mean?

Nothing.

It turns out you had another motive.

I thought you came here for me.

I'm sorry. I should have made myself clear in the beginning.

It's too late.

Wait a second.

Hurry and tell the host to change the song.

Change it to 'Beyond's Like You.'

Changing songs now?

Wait, you want to sing this for Qiu Le Tao?

Won't Sister Menglu be angry?

Don't keep talking nonsense. Just change it.

Hurry and get ready.

Le Tao.

Le Tao, why are you here?

Let's go. I have something to tell you.

Let me go.

What are you doing?

I really have something important to tell you.

Say it. What is it?

I can only tell you.

Just give me two minutes.

Xiaoju, you can walk around here with Chang Le.

I'll be back soon.

Don't worry.

Let's go.

What are you doing?

I'm going to study abroad soon.

I don't want to lose too much face today, okay?

Say it. What is it?

Our band is performing later.

We're fourth. Come and watch.

Okay. Wish your performance all the best.

Is that why you called me out here?

Wait. There's something else.

Say it.

Shiyi likes Xiaoju, but he's too embarrassed to tell her.

Why don't we be the matchmakers

and work with each other to get them together?

Does Shiyi like Xiaoju?

Yes.

Since we were freshmen.

But he is too embarrassed to tell her.

What about we help him?

Forget it. It's someone else's private matter.

I don't want to get involved.

Hello, wait a second.

I'll find a quiet place to talk to you.

I miss you, too.

I've received the things you sent me.

I really like them.

There's a party.

Yes.

[Jiangzhou University Medical School Graduation Party]

Welcome everyone to the medical school graduation party.

This will be the last party for the undergraduate in college.

I'm sure everyone doesn't want to listen to my nonsense anymore.

Let the party begin now.

Let's go. Let's go dancing.

I can't dance. You can go yourself.

Let's dance together.

I don't know how to dance.

Let's go.

Everyone is dancing.

Let's go.

Here.

Come here.

Step forward.

- Step back. - Step back.

Step back.

To the left.

To the left.

To the right.

To the right.

Just dance. Relax a bit.

Good.

Can you focus more?

Where are you going?

Great. You're dancing very well.

Really?

Why are you lying to her?

How could you praise her?

She dances like a stupid penguin.

You are so hypocritical, do you know?

- So hypocritical. - Can you even talk?

You dance like a penguin.

I...

Senior Sister, please take care of him.

You can't expect good words from a scoundrel.

- Say that again. - I can say that twice.

Xia Xiaoju!

By saying you look like a penguin, I mean you're cute!

Are you still talking?

Girls like gentle and polite boys.

If you diss her like this, how could she like you?

Don't be angry.

He really can't talk.

A cheerful song has just ended.

Next, let's appreciate

a love song performed by the most handsome guy in the Tourism Department, Chang Le.

Everyone please give him a round of applause.

Are you performing?

I can't sing well. Don't laugh at me.

Come over here. Listen to me sing.

Okay.

He is going to confess.

Thank you, everyone.

I'm very happy and honored

to participate in the medical school graduation party.

I'm Chang Le from the Tourism Department.

I have brought for everyone a love song.

Is he Chang Le?

My happiest moment at Jiangzhou University

is when I was in my sophomore year...

- Where are you going? - where I met...

- Let me go. - I won't.

Enough! Don't follow me!

Le Tao, Le Tao.

You don't need to care about who called me.

Le Tao, Le Tao.

Enough! Who do you think you are?

What right do you have to interfere with my business?

- Okay, okay. - Don't ever show up in front of me again!

I feel disgusted every time I see you!

Taotao! Taotao!

- What are you laughing at? - Okay, enough.

And you! Why are you singing a love song?

Get lost!

You...

He left?

Where are you going? We still need to perform.

Yes, we have to perform.

I'm not performing anymore.

Taotao.

He was the one who cheated on me, but now he keeps trying to stand in front of me.

He is a playboy.

Qiu Le Tao, let me tell you, just ignore him.

You're right, I'm not angry.

I'm not angry.

I can't ruin my day because of mouse feces.

I'm fine. You can go back.

Are you not going back?

I won't go back. I want to go home now.

I'm fine, you can go back.

Don't let Chang Le stay there alone.

Be good.

Bye bye.

Xiaoju.

Xiaoju. How's Le Tao?

Go back and tell Huang Jun to go farther he is from Le Tao, the better it is.

He is already with Xu Menglu now. Why does he keep trying to see Qiu Le Tao?

What does he want to do?

I'll tell him,

but he might not listen to me.

Is your foot okay?

I'm fine.

If she takes her hand out of yours, it simply means you don't have a chance.

Xiaoxue. How's your application to study abroad?

My application was refused.

If I knew earlier, I would have worked harder on dancing.

Why do you want to go abroad so much?

Don't tell me you don't want to go abroad.

Who doesn't want to go abroad in our dance major?

You can also apply to study abroad as a dance major?

Yes.

Our Dance Department has exchange students with foreign universities every year.

There can be two exchange students every year.

Does Lin You have a chance?

Her? Our teacher like her the best.

She is the best dancer among us.

She can surely pass.

But Talented Cheng, would you be willing?

I...

What are you talking so happily about?

Hello, Senior Sister.

We're talking about your boyfriend, Talented Cheng.

Senior Sister, we're going next. Hurry and get changed.

Okay, you guys also hurry.

Lin You.

Do you have a chance to go abroad?

Yes, but I need to know how my boyfriend thinks first.

Focus on your performance then.

Let's talk about it after.

In the future, you aren't allowed to flirt with other girls.

I... When did I do that?

Lu Shiyi, this is your last chance.

- What are you doing? - Where are you going?

It's none of your business.

Aren't you afraid that I'll tell everyone that you like Xia Xiaoju?

That's what I'm going to do.

You... You really won't consider me?

Thank you for liking me.

You are a very good girl.

But you know that if you like someone, you like them.

If you don't, then you don't.

It can't be forced. Thank you.

Go and tell Xia Xiaoju you like her.

Where's Huang Jun?

Is your friend okay?

She's fine.

That's good then. You should also be happy.

I'm sure your friend doesn't want you to be upset for her.

You're right.

I shouldn't ruin my mood because of some mouse feces.

I'm sorry.

I didn't listen to you sing just now.

It's okay.

I've told them to move my performance for later.

Because this song was for you.
