[A River Runs Through It]

[Episode 27: I want to tell you a secret, Part I]

Cheng Lang, what exactly is going on?

Why would Lin You suddenly disappear?

I was in the computer lab with her this afternoon.

Then she let me listen to the CD she had just bought.

I fell asleep while listening to it.

And then... And then when I woke up, she was gone!

She must be mad at me.

What was there to be angry about?

You must be overthinking it.

You wouldn't understand it even if I explained it to you.

Xiaoju, let me ask you.

If you share your favorite thing with me,

and I fall asleep, would you be angry?

I'd...

I'd probably feel sad.

See? She'd be sad.

Isn't that worse than being mad?

What does it matter if she's mad or sad?

She'll go to class tomorrow.

You can go to class tomorrow and tell her.

Explain it to her. Won't that solve it?

But what we're discussing now isn't... It's not about this problem.

We prepared so many surprises for her up on the mountain.

We all agreed to celebrate New Year's Eve together.

Now, wouldn't our efforts all be in vain?

What do you mean? How would it all be in vain?

I realized you really put love before friends, you know?

- I... - Didn't I use to always celebrate New Year's Eve with you?

- Now that you have Lin You, you don't need me to celebrate it with you anymore. Is that what you mean? - I-I...

- That's not what I mean. - Then what do you mean?

What I mean is... I'm saying... This year, we—

You guys stop arguing.

How about this, Cheng Lang? Let's wait here a bit longer, okay?

Let's forget about it. Let's not wait anymore.

Let's go up the mountain first.

No!

It's Lin You.

- Hello, Lin You? - It's Lin You!

What's wrong? Why did you call me so many times?

Where are you?

I'm in a cab on the way back. I'll be at the school gates in about 20 minutes.

Okay. I'll go and pick you up in a bit.

It seems like I really did overthink things.

I'm going to pick her up in a bit.

You guys go up the mountain first. We'll meet there.

I knew it. Let's go.

[Female Dormitory Building No. 25]

Taotao, I'll make you a Love Cup later.

In the future, you can only drink water from the Love Cup I made you, okay?

The show tonight was a huge success.

What's wrong?

What's this?

My stuff?

Let's break up.

What do you mean?

Clearly, explain it to me.

What you did today at the hospital,

you know it clearly in your heart.

I don't want to bring it up again.

Thinking about every word you said to me today,

all the food you fed me,

they all make me want to vomit.

Wait for me here. Be right back.

Okay.

Lin You.

Where were you just now?

I had a performance tonight.

I left my phone backstage so I didn't hear it.

You called me so many times. Was it something urgent?

Did you had a performance tonight?

Yes, didn't I leave you a note?

It said I needed to help my Senior Sister save her performance tonight.

I might be back late.

When I woke up in the computer lab, I realized you had already left.

I thought... I thought you were mad at me.

I left in a hurry so I didn't see the note.

Mad?

Why would I be mad?

You shared the music that you like with me, and I fell asleep while listening to it.

I thought you'd be angry.

Why would I be angry because of these kinds of things?

You're not angry?

It's almost midnight! Let's hurry and go, or else we won't make it.

- Where to? - Get on first. You'll find out in a bit.

Come on. Are you ready?

Hold on tight.

We'll cut across the school to arrive sooner.

Slow down.

Hold on tight!

I'm not nervous. Take it easy. I'm not nervous.

I've actually... liked you for a long time.

I...

Xia Xiaoju.

Did you know? I've actually always liked you.

Will you be my girlfriend?

I've got this. It's no problem.

Cheng Lang hasn't arrived yet.

It wouldn't be long.

- Xia Xiaoju... - What?

Did you know?

I do!

Cheng Lang cares so much about Lin You.

He's so worried just because he fell asleep

while listening to the song.

He's afraid Lin You would be angry.

He would never care about me the same way.

Do you know?

I've known Cheng Lang for such a long time.

He's typically a confident person when doing things.

It's really my first time seeing him so flustered.

That's because he has face paralysis, so he can't make expressions.

Why do you always have such a venomous mouth?

When I transferred during my last year of high school,

it was you who made me cry.

It's because you're such a crybaby.

I just transferred there and didn't know anyone.

You're the only one who bullied me.

Of course, I'd cry.

That...

That was because when we first met,

you burned my bottom.

Anyone in my place would... Who wouldn't... Right?

Anyway... Anyway, Cheng Lang was the first one

in the class who treated me nicely.

Not only did he tutor me on my homework,

he also protected me when I was in danger.

Is that why you like him?

Then... a few months ago,

I also helped you with your Advanced Mathematics.

I also helped you change majors, right?

You can come to me if you are in danger.

I can protect you, too.

Why must you go to him?

Because I thought he liked me, too.

In the past, Taotao and I read it in a magazine.

There was a list saying what would a boy do

if he has a crush on a girl.

He was a perfect match.

So I liked him and thought he liked me, too.

I wanted to be like Taotao and bravely confess to him.

But later on, I found out that he doesn't like me.

Then stop liking him.

I wish I could.

Since the day I found out he liked Lin You,

I kept telling myself, "Let it go."

After such a long time,

I still wasn't able to do it.

I decided that today is the last time I'll cry.

Then I'll completely move on from Cheng Lang.

I even helped him decorate the place so beautifully yesterday.

I told him that

he must succeed.

I really wished for them to be together.

Lu Shiyi, I, Cheng Lang, and Lin You,

we're like the river flowing down from the upper reaches.

We never once looked back to the scenery behind us.

As we ran forward, we missed a lot.

If someone looked back at that time,

maybe we'd find out about each others' feelings.

Maybe we'd find happiness in our own different way.

Xiaoju, why are you still here?

Isn't today your first time leading tourists? You can't be late.

Chang Le?

I was just looking for you.

I want to talk to you about the graduation party.

Can we do that tomorrow?

I was just assigned a tourist group.

We'll leave in one hour.

Okay, tomorrow then.

The main point is that it's my first time leading a tour.

I don't know if I could do it well.

Don't worry.

You'll definitely do well.

All right. I'll get going now. I'm in a hurry.

Hey, wait a moment.

I'll take you there.

It's faster than going on foot.

I'd feel bad about it.

What is there to feel bad about?

We're classmates. We should help each other.

Come on.

Hurry or else you won't make it in time.

All right then.

- Are you ready? - Yes. Thank you.

It's okay.

How's the injury from last time?

Nearly recovered.

I should be able to practice like normal again.

So tiresome.

There's nothing we can do about it.

Senior Sister, Senior Brother is looking for you.

I thought you were busy.

The new function of the school's website just went live.

So I will be very free for the next few days.

So that's why I had the time to especially come here and accompany you.

Really?

That's great!

I won't have to drag Xiaoju to have meals with me every day.

All right then.

Carry on with your practice.

- I'll treat you to a feast later. - Then I'm going back to practice.

- Go ahead. - See you tonight.

Just drop me off here.

We've arrived.

I'm going now.

Sure.

I'll pick you up for dinner tonight. Be good.

What are you looking at?

Nothing.

- Two people haven't arrived yet? - That's right.

Okay.

How is it?

Two people haven't arrived yet.

Lu Shiyi?

How can someone have the same name as Datu?

It can't be him, right?

It really is you!

Why did you sign up for this tour?

It's your first time leading a tour today.

I'm here to take a look.

For what? To see if I'd screw this up?

That's right.

Did you sign up for this tour, too?

No.

I just brought Xiaoju here.

Xiaoju, is there anything else I can help you with?

I think that should be all.

Chang Le, thank you for just now.

It's nothing. Why are you being so polite about it?

We're friends.

Qian Hongling hasn't arrived yet.

I'll ask around.

Excuse me.

I want to ask everyone here.

Does anyone know Qian Hongling?

- No idea. - I don't know her.

Miss, is this the tourist bus to World Studios?

That's right. Are you Qian Hongling?

- I am. - Great!

- Allow me, Auntie. - I'll do it.

Xia Xiaoju, is that a tourist?

Let's go, Auntie. Be careful.

Mind your step. You can sit there.

Let's go, let's go! Hurry, hurry up!

I'm getting on then. Chang Le, thank you.

- Everybody's here. - Wait a moment. Let me lock my bike.

I'll go with you.

No, there's no need.

Maybe next time. There are no more seats.

Thank you for bringing Xiaoju here.

Bye bye.

What's wrong?

Offering unsolicited hospitality,

he must be harboring evil intentions.

What nonsense are you talking about?

He's being kind hearted.

Kind hearted?

I'm the kind hearted one, all right?

Oh, that's right. In order to make my tour unique,

I have an idea.

Be sure to play along in a bit.

What idea?

You'll find out later.

It's starting! It's starting!

Say your lines! Hurry up!

Chengcheng. (T/N: From The Bund, a famous Hong Kong movie)

When I first arrived in Shanghai,

you once told me that...

You told me that we could go to France together.

Xu Wenqiang, you're too selfish!

When I asked you to come with me to France,

you said you wanted to get revenge. Now that you have,

- you want— - Chengcheng.

Can you please give me another chance?

That's not fair.

When there are two options in front of you,

you can't choose both.

Just one chance. Just once.

No way. You don't deserve it.

- Bravo! - Bravo!

Thank you, everyone! Thank you, everyone!

Listen up, everyone.

I've already introduced the scenic spots to you.

The rest is free time for everyone.

You can walk around freely in this place.

We'll gather at the bus by 5:00 p.m.

- All right! - Sure.

- You may enjoy your free time. - All right.

Take care.

Everyone, be careful!

So tired.

You're not bad at acting.

Come on, let's go. Let's go and take a rest.

Go without me.

I'll go over there and buy some beverages. Wait for me over there.

Go.

Stop running.

There are sugar figurines over there! I want one!

- How is it? - Boss, how much is this? [Sugar Figurines]

Thirty minutes.

Here you are.

You're quite the gentleman!

I've always been a gentleman, Chengcheng.

Are you not done acting?

Who was it that was reluctant to act just now?

But thinking about it, your plan worked out very well.

Have tourists wearing costumes while visiting World Studios.

It's a much more immersive experience.

This is a pretty good idea.

- For real? - Yes.

It's really rare to get a compliment from Datu.

I suddenly feel like I'm awesome.

Tired already?

You're so weak!

Even an elderly person is better than you!

In order for me to be familiar with the route,

I already walked all over the place twice yesterday.

Of course, I'm tired.

How could you say that?

You don't have to go all out.

No way.

Firstly, I must do it well.

To avoid any mistakes.

Secondly, I want to make money.

It's so hard to make money.

I want to start my own travel agency in the future.

I don't want to work for other people (as an employee).

Are you hungry? I'm starving!

It's still early, and you're already starving.

Didn't you have lunch before we departed?

I was in a hurry so I forgot to eat.

Then sit here and wait for me.

- I'll be right back. - Okay.

What a mess!

Flatbread! Selling flatbread!

- I'll have one, Boss. - All right, Sir.

- Two yuan, right? - Yes.

I'll leave the money here.

All right, thank you.

Here you go, enjoy!

How can I help you, Grandpa?

Where's the restroom?

Restroom?

- Wait a second. - Okay.

The restroom, right?

Come over here. The restroom... Do you see that path over there?

Follow this path, go straight, then turn left, and you'll get there.

- Thanks. - No problem.

Excuse me, where's the cinema?

- The cinema? - Right.

From here, turn left, then go straight, and you'll see it.

- Thank you! Thanks. - Thanks! - Goodbye.

Let's go.

You're up.

How did I fell asleep?

Did anyone come looking for me?

No one came looking for you, but you snored.

It was especially loud.

That's impossible!

I've never snored before.

- You've wronged me. - I was just kidding.

Here. Hurry and eat it.

It'll be cold in a bit.

- And there is flatbread. - Thank you!

Tasty!

Hurry and eat. It's about time to gather.

Hurry, hurry! Let's go! Let's go!

Let's go! Hurry up and go!

Did everyone have fun?

Yes!

Please be careful.

Watch your step.

That's not right.

How about we go back to the bus and take a look.

Maybe they're on the bus now.

Come on.

Hold on.

Hello, Brother Hu? Are they back yet?

Okay, all right then. We'll keep searching.

How is it?

Brother Hu said that the others are tired of waiting.

They rushed him to head back to Jiangzhou.

He wants us to stay here to continue searching for them.

What should I do? This...

It's okay. I'm here with you.

Why don't we take a look over there?

We haven't checked there.

We still haven't found them yet. This is my first time leading a tour.

How could I report to the company if they're missing?

Don't worry.

The travel agency has already called the police.

Even if we couldn't find them, the police will find them. Right?

Stop crying.

Have some water.

Hello, Brother Hu?

I still haven't—

What? Are they back?

Wait, what happened? What's going on?

Oh my goodness!

Can you believe it?

They went back on their own after getting lost.

They didn't even contact me to let me know!

I'm so angry! Seriously!

And then?

They called the company just now.

It's good that they're back.

All right, all right. Don't worry anymore.

By the way, the company said that the driver is already off work.

We'll have to think of a way to get back on our own.

It's not a big deal. No problem.

I'm sorry, Datu.

I caused you to run around with me looking for people.

Don't apologize.

It just so happens I've never seen World Studios at night.

It looks good.

As long as they're fine.

Look at how they've scared our Xiaoju.

You're originally dumb.

You'll be even dumber after this fright.

Datu,

I've realized you've become more and more mature after attending the university.

You've become more and more considerate.

- For real? - Yes.

So have you.

You've changed a lot, too.

You've become more and more outstanding.

More confident than before.

You really know how to say sweet words now.

No wonder you have so many girls who like you.

What's the use of having so many girls liking me?

The one I like...

It's like she'll never turn around and look at me.

You have a crush on someone!
