Lassie

[Music]

I'm Arabic mine now

[Music]

[Music]

we are so lucky why is that sweet her

it's a murder we were here when it

happened I could have been swimming

right over her body and not even known

it and here we are again moms on jury

duty looking at the murder site that is

so cool you know sometimes I worry about

you what's wrong with lassie she's been

pacing and grumbling ever since we came

up here come on let's relax

[Music]

how much far do you think mom will be

stuck on this jury until they reach a

verdict she says there's one holdout one

undecided juror that's why the judge

decided to bring them up here maybe

it'll help them make up their mind it

won't be long he's guilty you think so

yeah they were both delinquents and they

just escaped from jail he did it they

never found the body dad will you please

tell your young son the facts of life I

just made a list of 62 ways to get rid

of a victim and I'm only an amateur all

right let's forget about all this stuff

and go fishing we had this lake stock

and we had our clan reunion and I'm sure

we can get lucky maybe we'll get really

lucky and hook the body

[Music]

guilty guilty guilty not guilty

11 for one against that's five times in

a row I'm still undecided oh that's it

we're hung let's just tell the judge and

we're finished look unless I'm missing

something here I don't see how any of

you can say that we have absolute proof

d we have the rocky hitter with it has

her blood on it so we have proof that he

hit her with a rock we have the gun but

no bullet and no body we have the

witnesses photographs look at these

these don't prove that he murdered her

he's only prove that he shoved a rock at

her d mark Waldman is an escapee with

five previous counts of arrest two of

them were for violent crimes now the

judge ruled that inadmissible we're

supposed to ignore that and how can you

ignore something like that it's our job

[Applause]

there's too many loose ends okay let's

start over at the beginning oh no not

the index cards again

[Music]

well well well slow down not so fast how

do you expect the fish to grab the bait

if it goes by like a rocket you're not

catching anything either ah but I'm

enjoying it fishing isn't a race it's

sitting on a dock it's leaning against

the tree enjoying the beauty around you

that's the way to think about it yeah I

guess especially if you're not catching

anything right I just remembered

something what any if a body's dead when

he hits the water it'll float for a long

time but if it's alive and then drowns

it'll sink right away do you think mom

knows that I hope not how do you know it

Murder She Wrote hey where's Lassie

[Music]

over on those rough

[Music]

right where the murder happened what are

you doing over there I don't know

smoking stranger than Megan and that

worries me

[Music]

he lied about who he was when they

picked him up he lied about even knowing

Susan Jacobs and then he lied about

seeing her at the lake until they showed

him the pictures he's lied every step of

the way I acknowledge that I just hope

we proved he's guilty d we have the

smoking gun okay whatever happened to a

reasonable doubt okay you're right my

gut tells me he's guilty but we can't

convict if we have a reasonable doubt no

matter how much evidence we've collected

I don't have any doubts and I think

you're the one who's being unreasonable

delicious vote wait a minute we've come

a long way let's all think about it

overnight and we're back tomorrow

morning at ten

[Music]

tell your mom tossed and turned all

night really feel bad for the rest of us

are out here having a wonderful time

yeah everyone but lassie something still

bugging me you're right she seems

agitated dad what's going on to trial

anyway how's the jury doing you know

that I can't ask her about that well I

know what did she say well she said that

one juror is still undecided well if

everyone else is decided why can't he

decide who knows it's probably some jerk

yeah mom can be pretty persuasive shot I

just told the jury hey the guy's guilty

all you have to do is read the paper

well don't worry about it she said they

were gonna wrap this thing up today if

you guys want to go get something to eat

over at the snack bar I'll treat well

that's really nice of you Megan not

really she likes the guy who works there

but doesn't want him to think that she

came in just to see him oh well no

thanks you guys go ahead dad can I

borrow some money first well I can't

treat if I don't have any money

this guy's so great why don't you just

walk in and say hey I like you you're so

young it doesn't work that way that'd be

okay with you if he said that well

that's different what is it Lassie

now what is she after I don't know let's

go find out come on let him stop for a

while you're right

[Music]

lassie what are you doing this is

ridiculous

[Music]

no be quiet Lassie we've got to get out

of here I just want one peek to see what

this is all about

[Music]

you

[Music]

it's her oh the girl is supposed to be

dead

[Music]

you're right this is incredible we've

got to go to the police I don't believe

this mommy's gonna convict an innocent

guy let's go we'll stay down

look kids I'm impressed I really am then

you believe us I believe you think you

saw the jacobs gurl I'm sorry she's dead

at least you should go check it out

because I really appreciate your concern

but the sheriff's on vacation I'm less

than a year and a job and I have my

hands full I can't go chasing every

crazy story that comes down the road

deputy Kirby if we're wrong all you've

lost is a little time but if we're right

and you don't check it out you've lost a

lot more okay okay I'll run up there all

right we'll show you look I'll be back

to pick your kids up in about um 10

minutes then we'll see

[Music]

I have to figure out the difference

between a reasonable and unreasonable

doubt over a tuna fish sandwich be

what's the matter

the weirdest thing just happened with

Will and Megan but it has to do with

your case well what no no I can't talk

about the trial don't say a word I've

come too far to blow it now everything

has to go through the court okay you're

right mom began to you we're saucers and

Jacobs she's alive we're going to show

the deputy what yes gonna hey we're just

hanging out it's all right that's not

why I'm here just to go you guys saw

kids uh I don't think so we saw Susan

Jacobs here this morning the dead girl

well creepy they both swore they saw her

inside of here oh they must have seen me

I was here well they said there were

five of you three men and two women oh I

know what they saw I was with four guys

no way one of the guys mike has long

blond hair and wears an earring a lot of

people think he's a girl from the back

wait'll I tell him he'll freak anything

else kids

do you mind if I take a quick look

around inside yeah I don't know well I'm

so embarrassed it was kind of dark in

there and that window isn't very clean I

was so sure what I don't understand is

how both of us could see the wrong thing

oh thanks miss but just do me a favor

don't make you have another hanging out

here and if you do happen to see them

please give us a call you'll be the

first hey don't feel too bad kids we all

make mistakes want to ride to the lodge

no thanks we'll walk you'll walk and

then you can tell Dad what happened no

way will tell Dad hey don't worry we'll

and imagination is a good thing

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

mom I see you've done enough damage

today

[Music]

hey you're away from there you mean here

I knew it you're alive get out of here

before you show up missing you gotta go

back and glue that guy he can be

convicted good I hope they put the jerk

away forever if you get a chance you

tell mark that you saw me nobody else to

believe you but he will oh and tell mark

that I've been enjoying my murder trial

now I'm out of here wait you can't go

watch me I'll tell the police I saw you

can you all ready did that cops not

gonna believe you again don't be so sure

this time there's no dirty window

there's lots of light and i got your

picture right in front of you hmm I

always hated this picture it makes me

look nice

[Music]

by the time you get back we'll be long

gone you do me a favor you get your mark

the message wait

[Music]

you

[Music]

guilty guilty guilty guilty guilty

I don't believe this my boss is gonna

kill me d I thought we had you convinced

well I thought you did too I'm sorry

something happened what's something well

something I heard at lunch is affecting

my decision if it's another piece of

evidence just use it and let's get on

with it you know I can't do that besides

it's it's not evidence it's it's hearsay

but it's affecting my decision we have

no alternates left if you drop out it's

a mistrial and here we've wasted four

weeks and this killer might go free look

just agree with us and let's get this

over with if I voted with you now I

wouldn't agree with you but I'm basing

it on something that I shouldn't have

heard what I can't tell you perfect I

can tell you she thinks there's a vague

possibility based on nothing at all like

the scheme of the universe or the way

this guy cuts his hair that he may

somehow someway conceivably be innocent

okay somebody saw Susan Jacobs alive

police no not exactly who that my kids

and our dog

her dog found her and my kids and her

kids the police are checking it out my

kids are very reliable oh and let's not

forget the job to me with a dog lie this

from the woman who told us to stick to

the facts of the case

it's for you

the police checked and didn't find Susan

Jacobs well never let it be said Waldman

didn't get a fair trial shall we vote

again no it's it's not you son on top of

everything else that's bothering me I

believe my kids I'm sorry I'm sorry I

have to pull out

[Music]

what's the worst that could happen

they'll declare a mistrial or a hung

jury here they'll hang me that's what if

I was wrong maybe he's guilty maybe I

turn to kill or loose maybe but would

you rather convict an innocent man no

I'm always gonna wonder what the truth

was you know what really really bothers

me the most it's all that time we spent

12 people thrown together in a room to

decide the fate of Anna cutest man and

it didn't work he justice wasn't be

inserted it was just just a big waste of

time

[Music]

honey this is deputy Kirby hi how are

you I guess you heard I went with your

kids look for Susan Jenkins but didn't

find her yeah my husband told me you

know it seems it Tom your kids and

lassie I don't give up easily you know

will charge into my office claiming he'd

seen her again you found her you know I

didn't find her but I don't have to

Susan is alive mark Waldman is innocent

he is how do you know that according to

the reports tom the girl has been dead

for four months hey well why don't you

tell him but you can't be dead for four

months and have your fingerprints on

today's newspaper women you got her

fingerprints on that newspaper that's

incredible was more like last he got the

prints she must have realized how

important they were

[Music]

I think she's telling you that justice

was served after all

[Music]

you
