what a beautiful sunrise it looks like

it's going to be a long day i'm not used

to getting up this early neither nasty

and toothless i have to admit it's not

easy to get up at the crack of dawn when

the navy believes in getting an early

start especially today there's a lot of

work to be done before the aqua base is

launched this morning speaking of the

wow the navy ship we trained on looked

yeah looks more like a spaceship to me

except that the space it travels in is

filled with sea water rather than stars

permission to land permission granted

rescue one wind is west northwest at 12

everybody to your seats and build up

we're going down

welcome aboard we're honored to have you

never thought i'd get to meet lassie in

the rescue rangers in person

and we never thought we'd be taking part

in such an exciting experiment as the

aquabase project right lassie

i can see you're all ready and raring to

go so let's get underway

that should be the last of the supplies

for aqua base

i see you're all ready to go yes sir and

the animals should be ready in a minute

we're all really looking forward to this

it's not every day we get to take part

in an exciting experiment like this i

assure you it's not every day that the

navy launches a craft like the aqua base

especially with young people and animals

we expect to learn a great deal i'm sure

we'll all learn a lot in fact i'm going

to write a school report about our

voyage captain the animals are ready

excellent

now i've seen it all flossing toothless

and wetsuits but where's fastback's

wetsuit nature provided fastback with a

better diving suit than we could come up

with susan but we did rig up an air

supply system that gives him the same

underwater capabilities as everyone else

attention all aquabase crew members

report to your stations that means us

goodbye mom see you in a couple days

this is your captain speaking

main hat secured sonar on and operating

all pressure systems okay

don't worry lassie there'll be plenty

underway control this is aqua base this

is control go ahead aqua base then we're

ready to dive roger captain everything

is go here then we're taking it down

dive

this is just as smooth as riding in an

elevator right except that we don't get

off until we reach the basement depth

approaching 100 feet how pressure and

internal pressure stabilized all systems

check out and their rate of descent is

steady aqua base you're looking good

here

i want to jot down a few of my

impressions but so much is happening i

hardly know where to start i sure can

understand your problem jackie

it's hard to describe a world as

fantastic as this i'll say

what's the matter lassie see a catfish

out there

there seemed to be several large objects

swimming alongside the aquabases stern i

don't think it's anything to get alarmed

probably just playful fish

lassie calm down everything's going fine

except that for some reason our descent

speed is increasing that shouldn't be

captain the controls don't work

aqua base

our instruments show you descending at a

faster rate now please advise

ben

we seem to have a control malfunction of

we're attempting to rectify the

situation and we'll keep you posted

roger captain jackie reverse all engines

reverse all engines

it's no use

without the controls we have no way of

maintaining a stable attitude all

engines stop orange and stop

how's it going captain i'm afraid we're

going to have to abandon ship abandon

this boat's not going to stop until it

and that's a long way down from here

captain we're ready to eject

ejection sequence is started

gosh it's a long way up yeah we went

pretty deep in a very short time just

remember not to rise any faster than

and we should have no problems you hear

that lassie you and toothless stick with

us

attention all hands

the aquabase crew has abandoned ship

stand by to help them abort when they

surface are they going to be all right

dad they went pretty deep ben but the

captain knows what he's doing so there

shouldn't be any problems well i'm sure

it's most frightening for the animals

they've had very little underwater

how is everybody doing fine so far

captain

what is it lassie she's probably worried

and so am i he's drifting pretty far

from the group toothless come here i'm

closest i'll go get him

what in the world

what's the big idea who are you save

your breath kid your friends can't hear

you now so behave yourself and come with

us they should be breaking surface any

second now and there they are wow what a

base crew has surfaced begin recovery

procedures immediately

after you

come in

well

what do we have here one of the aqua

bay's crew they all ejected after the

but he came snooping around our boat ah

jackie turner what's yours you are nosy

aren't you no matter i'll tell you who i

you see this it looks sort of like the

aqua base except that it's twice the

i know i invented this beauty but that

stupid navy rejected my design oh now

this is all starting to make sense that

accident was it i don't understand it

jackie was right behind toothless the

last time i saw him yeah i don't know

what could have happened he may have

become entangled in the coral

good for another two hours if he's still

underwater laura what do you mean i mean

i don't think those objects trailing the

aqua base were fish and i think they had

something to do with jackie's

so it answered your question

what happened to the aqua base was not

an accident you're evil and you're going

to pay for this on the contrary right

here boy i'll benefit from it what are

you talking about simply that the aqua

base is sunk so deep it can't be

and instead of building another aqua

base that may also sink the navy is sure

to reconsider my design now you'll never

get away with this oh all right

keep your eyes open susan if you see

anything out of the ordinary anything at

all yell roger mom gene fox and i are

going back into the water to see if we

can locate jackie please look real hard

gene fox jackie is the only brother i

have i promise you i'll do my best ben

you want to help too don't you girl

i think you can be of more help here

okay gene fox

let's move out dad what can we do to

help if we could figure out a way to

raise that aqua base we might find some

but i'm afraid it's just too deep for

any man to go after

dad suppose an animal went after it

lassie you and toothless are geniuses

fast back

if you can clip our recovery cable under

that aqua base you'll be a navy hero

good luck fastback okay lower away

hey what are you writing there if you

i'm keeping a journal of everything that

happens today so i can make a report to

my class well don't look now young man

but you may be a wee bit late for school

oh no i won't i'll bet the whole us navy

is looking for me right now you don't

seem to realize that the navy is no

match for j w smithers

see anything yet susan not a thing mom

but let's keep looking

this whole ship is where we started

and we've turned up a big zero i'm

and now our ears running low we'd better

start back up

fastback's nearing the aqua base now

pulse and respiration are still normal

come on fastback

ben

he made it

he reached the aqua base way to go fast

back now if you can just attach the

recovery cable

what's the matter with you two you act

worried is something wrong ben i have a

feeling something's wrong with fastback

dad and lastian toothless consensus

fastback's been down there an awful long

time now i hope he's okay

you sure don't seem very worried about

it lassie

that's it

fastback did it attention all hands the

recovery cable has been secured hoist

away

well nasty i guess you knew what you

now if we can only figure out what

happened to jackie

susan and i covered a three-mile radius

from the ship and found absolutely no

sign of jackie i'm afraid we had no

better luck mrs turner so what is our

next step we have to find jackie and

quickly

yeah here comes the aqua base good

let's hope it'll provide us with some

clue to jackie's whereabouts

fastback you're an amazing turtle i'll

say he did a great job and all by

it looks like he might have had some

help a purpose what a beautiful animal

and quite a smart animal too mrs turner

some scientists believe that porpoises

actually have a language of their own

listen it sounds like he's trying to

talk to us if he is i'm afraid lassie is

the only one who understands

lassie

toothless where are you going

if i wasn't washing this with my own

i never would have believed it you two

want to go back into the water but why

i've got a strong hunch that porpoise

knows where jackie is you mean he's

still somewhere underwater

it sounds crazy but

it's the only lead we've got

let's go

that porpoise really seems to know where

he's going i'll say but if he keeps up

this pace much longer i'm afraid he's

gonna wear us all out

they seem to be headed straight towards

some large coral formations this is

getting stranger by the minute

lassie wait

be careful

this coral is sharp as a razor wow

what's it doing here that's what i'd

like to know due to the aquabase test

these waters were declared off limits to

all craft look they're the animals and

from the way they're acting i'd say that

jackie is inside

yes

what is it

mr smithers

there are strange sounds coming from the

shall we investigate what kind of sounds

sort of like a dog scratching on a door

are you sure you're feeling all right i

know it sounds crazy sir but

my with a well-mannered dog

you incompetent we've been discovered

start all engines immediately yes sir

right away

looks like nobody's home or at least

that's what they'd like us to think

the subs movie everybody get clear but

jackie's in there i know he is captain

we can't let them get away control this

we've located a submarine down here and

we believe jackie's aboard jackie oh

thank goodness but the sub won't respond

we'll stay with it as long as we can but

we need help we're working as fast as we

can to repair the aqua base captain but

hey what's going on this boat's turning

absolutely right quick everybody duck

and keep your heads down

okay the coast is clear what on earth

they're trying to give us the brush

and they almost succeeded sir those guys

are still hanging on then try again this

time do it right yes sir

uh-oh here we go again

this time they're really cutting it

everybody away from the boat

something's happened to the controls i

can't steer the boat

they misjudged and ripped off their bow

plane captain jackie's in there we've

got to do something and we better do it

fast because that sub's out of control

repairs have been completed you are

cleared to submerge roger laura

hang on ben we're taking her down

isn't there anything you can do to stop

our descent i'm trying sir but nothing

seems to work all this course dad it

sounds like we're homing in on lassie

and the others steady as she goes ben

there they are

right on the button

we're bringing the captain and the

youngsters on board now laura they're

all fine roger ben i have a fix on the

sub and it seems to be headed for the

bottom you better hurry

you've got to figure out a way to bring

this boat back up it's not designed to

withstand this much pressure

see what i mean

gosh we sprung a leak

there's only one way we can reach that

sub in time

give me full power full power

we did it we caught up with them but how

they're too deep to use scuba gear first

then deploy the magnetic grapples roger

full reverse power full reverse power

we've stopped sinking i don't know sir i

didn't do a thing no but i'll bet the

rescue rangers did

is aqua base

we've linked up with the south and are

bringing the passengers aboard now what

about jackie is he okay hi mom don't

worry i'm fine

and mr smith is here is fine too

thanks to the aqua base that he tried to

thanks to the help of your rescue

i think we proved the aqua base to be a

success

say jackie you must have gotten all

kinds of notes for your class paper huh

yes but i don't think i'm going to use

fantastic story that's just it it's so

fantastic i don't think anybody will

believe it
