good morning ben this is john van

i haven't heard from him in years the

john dance in washington that's right

tape to the bottom of this recorder is

an envelope containing photographs of dr

as you probably know dr simpson is the

man who first identified simpson's

a rare illness that is now reaching

epidemic proportions in several states

unfortunately dr simpson is being held

against his will in a foreign country

without him there is no way of stopping

the disease so your job mr turner will

simpson by using lassie and the rescue

ranger animals we feel that where our

asians have failed these highly trained

animals are likely to succeed

good luck to you all

susan

find jackie and ben right dad

and lassie

round up all the rescue animals

cheers

this hat belongs to dr simpson the man

you're to find and rescue i know you

don't understand all that i'm saying but

it's very important that you succeed

a lot of sick people are counting on you

take it easy on this collar girl there's

a small tv camera in the dog tag

what's wrong toothless you're not afraid

are you

okay this is it

let's go take one more look at dr

simpson and good luck okay lassie oh

girl

geronimo go robbie

go musty

okay toothless

you're next

it'll be all right toothless

something's wrong his automatic shoot

tell us he has an emergency shoot why

doesn't he use it

oh wow he did it he did it

okay everybody to your stations

project rescue is underway

oh

um

we should be past the three mile limit

let's inflate the pontoons and take her

down

so far so good

thanks to that miniature tv camera on

lassie's collar we've got a front row

seat for watching this entire mission

look they're entering some woods and

pretty thick woods that how are we going

to keep lassie in the right track

there's a tiny gyro compass in lassie's

collar we can monitor here and advise

lassie if she starts straying in the

wrong direction

whoa

and he's huge for lassie can't we help

her i'm afraid lassie's on her own now

susan

oh

take a good look lassie that's the city

where dr simpson's being held the first

is somehow get inside the city prison

without being spotted in established

contact with the doctor lassie

have the other animals wait where they

are

you're doing fine lassie only two more

blocks to go

it is

that's the prison where dr simpson's

being held lassie dr simpson is inside

go find him

wow how is lassie ever gonna get inside

that place it's a regular fortress what

worries me is if she gets in how will

she ever get out don't worry last you'll

think of something

and where do you think you are going

you'd better cooperate if you know

what's good for you i haven't got all

now into the truck with you

what happened dad who got laughing it's

there's not enough light inside that

truck to pick up an image on a monitor

that isn't lassie's bark there must be

other dogs in there

too truck's stopping come on come on

hurry up your free ride is over a few

days in the pound they'll teach you much

to stay off the streets of all the

he's locked lassie in a dog pound how

are we going to get her out we can't

just fly into the middle of town and

rescue one what about the other animals

dad can't they help lassie there's no

way of contacting them susan

classy is the only radio

well i'll be it's robbie robbie i've

never been so glad to see a raccoon in

my life i just hope he doesn't get

caught too

that's all the noise about

have you dogs gone crazy now quiet down

now keep it quiet but i'll give you all

something to bark about for sure

poor stay back stay back

you're a genius for such a little fellow

he sure comes up with some big ideas

they did it they got inside the prison i

don't believe it that was almost too

easy it isn't over yet jackie

finding dr simpson and letting him know

what we're up to

i think lassie just hit the jackpot you

mean dr simpson's in that cell dad

but we can't be sure until lassie gets a

look at that window with her tv camera

i've got an idea dad let me talk to

lassie

lassie push those boxes under the window

understand girl

push those boxes under the window

i can't tell if it's our man or not

jackie switch on the remote speaker

dr simpson dr simpson is that you

my mind must be going it's him lassie

found dr simpson there's nothing wrong

with your mind doctor i'm ben turner of

the rescue rangers and i'm speaking to

you through a small radio receiver

attached to lassie's collar

and the rescue rangers

for now this is starting to make sense

we're gonna get you out of there

but we'll need your help of course i'll

in order for this operation to be a

success we're all going to have to

cooperate with split-second timing are

you allowed out of your cell at any time

yes i have an afternoon exercise period

at 3 o'clock and that's when we'll make

our move now

uh oh

we've got trouble those are two of the

meanest looking dogs i've ever seen

quick gene check the map for a way out

we've got to get lassie out of this i

don't see any openings here it looks

like lassie and robbie have walked into

a trap

huh

they made it so far so good so far not

the latest word from home is the

epidemic is still spreading we still

have a lot to do and time is running out

round up the rescue animals

yes

now listen carefully

classy is going to lead you all into

then you're going to rescue dr simpson

by tunneling into the prison this is

going to require perfect teamwork so

just follow lassie

follow lassie now let's get moving

and good luck

okay lassie that gutter is your ticket

back into prison let's move out lassie

well there they go on their most

difficult mission yet everybody keep

your fingers crossed

lassie

take the lower pipe

dad i'm afraid the animals are headed

for trouble this map shows a steep

incline ahead

they can't get past that incline

it must be slippery with algae we're too

close to success to give up now

what's lassie doing it's hard to make

but she seems to have some sort of plan

there's only one thing lassie forgot

toothless will never be able to pull her

up she's too heavy

lassie already thought of that gene fox

so i see

three o'clock

we're behind schedule

dr simpson's exercise period should be

starting that sure doesn't give us much

time

five minutes to stretch your legs dr

and don't try any funny business

just a little farther lassie

okay stop now

dig up

we're running out of time if anybody can

do it lassie and the animals will i hope

the latest word on the epidemic isn't

good

you've got one minute doctor

come on lassie come on you can do it

girl you've gotta do it

dr simpson time's up can't you just let

you know the regulations as well as i do

so move

hey what's going on there

am i glad to see you

i just about given up on ever getting

but i guess we'd better save the thank

which way out of here just follow lassie

dr simpson and hurry so they're using

the sewers to escape huh well we'll fix

that

we'll flush them out

listen

they've opened the flood valves

we've got to find a way out of here

first

good work little fella

okay all of you up the ladder this

tunnel's going to be full of water in a

matter of seconds

quick everybody out let's go

hang on dr simpson we'll get you out but

how don't panic you've got to use our

heads

look the animals beat us to it by using

their tails run away lassie

it's working

just a little more

what's going on there huh we've been

spreading it lassie

and get out of there fast

lassie

proceed to the pickup point

we will rendezvous

in four minutes

the pickup rig is right on target and

here come the rescue animals right on

time we'd better make this pickup in the

police are gonna give us a second chance

stand by dr simpson

we're starting our approach i hope you

get here before the police

we're on our final approach is the sky

hook ready ready dad then stand by for

pickup

we got him reel him in

welcome aboard doctor

there are a lot of sick people back home

who'll be glad to see you i can never

thank you folks enough
