On her 7th month she was diagnosed with Polio

her spine and legs got disabled

She lost her gait before starting to walk

Since childhood she has been using a wheelchair

All her parts below her waist lost its function

The rest of her body became her belief that made her to survive…

She grew up forgetting all her flaws….

she studied hard and got into a job

at the age of 37 her health condition worsened

doctors told if she undergoes operation,

she can survive for a year. if not her time limit is three months….

She wanted to survive for the sake of her parents

By that time, she was suggested hydrotherapy by a physiotherapist named Mr. Anand Jothi.

Swimming became a way to heal her

She felt lighter when she was in the water

Her spine and legs started to co-operate with her

swimming made her to survive

while she suffocated on the land

not only she survived but also motivated others to survive by achieving a lot

In the year 2011, she won 3 gold medals in national swimming

again in 2012 national swimming championship

she won 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.

As for now, she has won 18 national medals

And today she is successfully running an organization for physically disabled people

under the name of ‘YES WE TOO CAN’

She is a superwomen

there won't be any stop if we started to talk about her

Today, we are here to watch a different kind of sport in Live.

Till now in our life, we have watched many types of sports like cricket,

football even marathon in a movie called "Ethir Neechal".

The name of this Sport is ‘Triathlon’.

Hi, hello everyone I am your RJ Vivek... I too felt the same way.

Priya, give us a small intro about triathlon in a simple and understandable manner.

Tri means three

Triathlon is a combination of three different sports

A multi sport race which has Swimming, Cycling and Running. Awesome right??

Yes, Priya!! It's new to India.

Triathlon maybe new to India but has been played in other countries since 1920s.

Superb...

It's a 100 years old famous sport.

In fact, this sport has been played in Olympics since 2000s.

This is race briefing.

It happens a day before the event,

where all participants are gathered and explained about the rules and regulations.

This is a timing chip,

that athletes wear on their leg before the race to track their time.

They are briefing about the laps count of Swimming, Cycling and Running.

Triathlon which is going to happen here is an Olympic distance category.

Swimming - 1.5 km,

Cycling - 40.3km

and Running - 10.4km.

This National triathlon event is organized by our Indian Triathlon Federation and Tamil Nadu

Triathlon Association which is held in Sri Ramachandra Institute, Porur, Chennai.

We are watching in Live!!

This is the transition area.

All the participants are asked to park their cycles here a day before the event.

from Thenkasi (The southernmost part of Tamil Nadu) is going to take part.

More than 200 athletes from all over India are going to take part in this event under different categories.

She had won many Triathlon titles.

Then she will be in a good form.

She holds the record for completing the triathlon in shortest time.

Girls are started to lineup for the event now.

Everyone is receiving their bib number.

Okay... So, now we are getting closer to the moment.

Players are started receiving their timing chips and getting it tied on their leg.

All the participants,

practiced day and night to prove their skills and talents here.

she is the only candidate under 18.

It seems after her accident she is suffering from “Phonophobia” (I. e. ) sudden/loud noise may affect her,

most importantly she should never get dehydrated.

With all these conditions at her back, she still took part in this event,

her guts are appreciable!!

Race is getting more and more interesting now.

Aarthi's stamina level is extraordinary!!

She has won most of the titles in the events she participated…

Because she is a real champion (8 times she won the title).

So.... One by one candidates are completing cycling.

In Triathlon predicting the outcome is bit hard...

because some candidates maybe talented in Swimming,

some in Cycling or Running.
