it's chilly and wet and it doesn't really feel very summer-like

outside this morning but after today thousand the kids in our area will be

out of school for the summer

and so this morning doctor keep closely with MPs joins us live outside Burbank

elementary school on Milwaukee's west side to reflect on the school year just

a little bit

doctor Jose good morning thanks so much for being with us good morning I'm so

happy to be with you this morning

well let's talk about as some other successes this year for MPS as we are

here on the last day of school

%uh the school didn't really grace that the graduating seniors

they set a record for scholarship money this year yes state that we are

that $36 million plus I double what we have

that like three years ago almost three years ago so we doubled that

and I we did when asked about that there's sorry doctor probably to

interrupt you we do want to ask you to MPs is under

you know some scrutiny a lot of people been talking about this lately some

lawmakers want to create a recovery school district

for struggling schools that would remove them from the MPS system

what it is you're doing to fix those schools that are struggling

we are working hard every single day we have our commitment schools who have

chilled

job are great results in both math and reading

we have our gerr foundation schools

which is move forward as well and sold some great results this past school year

and we're just staying focused everyone your stay in focus working hard doing

everything we can to improve student outcomes
