In this lesson, we're going to look at how you create an app within the power of your service.

So we mentioned previously, when we go through the navigation that we had this option called apps.

And what this allows you to do is to be able to create a set of reports and dashboards and basically

package them together.

Then one of the really nice features on this is when you package them together is basically they can

be then distributed to large numbers of people very easily and basically the work in just a view only

mode.

So you can't have people authoring it or editing or changing it.

So it's just a really nice way of being able to package your reports and your dashboards together and

being able to distribute those.

Now, if we go back into our workspaces, then let's have a look at the training workspace that we've

just created.

Now what you will see is that for our sales report is you get an ability to say, I want to include

this in the app.

Now, at the moment it's grayed out because we haven't actually created an app yet.

So we're going to create an app.

Now, please note you can only create one app for the actual workspace.

So this is quite important.

It's quite an important limitation to take into account that all your dashboards and reports that you

need in the app have to be in the same workspace.

So when you're designing your workspaces, you may want to take that into account that if you do want

to use apps later on, that everything needs to be in just the one workspace.

So just take that into account.

So let's go ahead, let's create our app.

So I'm going to go up here, I'm going to say Create app.

And the first part that will cost me is what is my app name.

So I'm going to say, this is my training app.

I give it a description and see this compulsory, so you need to put something in there.

So I'll just say this is my.

Finding.

At.

Can also upload your own logo if you want to have your own theme color.

Also some contact information and also some global app settings.

Install this app automatically.

You can hide the navigation pane if you need to.

Most of the time you normally can just go ahead and just say next, add the content that you want to

use.

So in this case we're going to say add content.

So it looks like you need to add some content.

So we're going to say add or content and we'll say that we want to use our sales report.

So as I say, if I, if I had a number of dashboards or reports here, I could decide which ones I wanted

to add.

So I'm going to say add for this.

And now we've got our sales report that has been included into that planning app.

The next point is that we're going to look at is who is our audience for this?

So when we're looking at an audience, you can say you're training app and can see I've got my two pages

here on the right hand side.

It says, Who do I want to grant access to?

Do I want to do the entire organization or do I want to list specific users or groups?

So if I just wanted to give this access to specific people, I could put in here the email addresses

and just put those people in there.

At the moment, I don't have any other people that actually want to give access to this app, so I'm

actually going to say that we're going to go ahead, I'm going to publish this app selected.

I'm going to say we want publish.

And really you can see it as quickly as an easy as that.

You do get the ability to copy the link to get apps can send it out to the people then that you've given

access to and there would be able to go to the app.

So let's just open our app.

Let's say we go to app and you can see now that the app has been opened, it's got the color scheme

that we chose earlier, it's got the two pages and the report.

And you should see here now that we do get the ability, we can still do our different filtering and

do our cross filtering.

And you can see all those features still work.

You do get some abilities at the top as well.

You can still do this to your files, to your PowerPoint, to your PDFs.

So they do give some specific options there as well as to what you what you can do.

Really this this is the key part about the app is that you're just giving people access to this report

and that you can easily distribute it.

If we go back now to our home page, we go back to our apps.

You'll see now that the app has now been added to my list of apps that I actually have access to.

You do have the ability also to be able to get your own apps.

So if you clicked on get apps here, it would give you then access to different power BI apps that that

are available.

So you can see here is a whole bunch of apps that have been sort of created and you've got access to

you do have the organizational apps and you have created one on the coronavirus before and template

apps as well so people can access those.

Once you start creating a bit of a library of different apps.

If we go back now into your workspaces and you go back to your training, you should see now that the

sales report you can see has been said that it now is included in the app itself.

At any point, if you wanted to update the app, you will now see that this has changed to say, I want

to update this app and you can now go through this and make any changes or updates that you wanted to.

If you wanted to add new content or change your audience, give access to other people.

Very simple to do.
