Welcome to this lesson.

So our sales managers, Beck and has asked us to create a sales report for him.

So the first part that we're going to be doing is let's create a new page for this.

So I'm just going to add a new page.

Let's give it a new name.

And we're going to call this our sales report.

Now, one of the things to note is that you can actually move these pages.

So let's say we want this to be the first page of the report.

I can just pick this up and you can see I can just reposition it, drop it at the beginning, and it's

now the first page of the report.

Okay.

We've got a blank page to start with.

And what we're going to do is we're actually going to start with a heading.

You'll find on your under your insert menu that you do get the ability to be able to insert different

elements so we can do text box button shapes and images.

In this case, we're just going to use a straight shape.

We're going to use a rectangle.

So let's use the rectangle and we're going to just use that.

And let's create then a bit of a different colour.

Let's use a lighter blue.

Yeah, that's not too bad.

That's in the border up.

The next part is we want some text.

So also we're going to insert a text box.

We're going to call this our sales report.

And we'll make that text a little bit bigger.

I a little bit bigger than that as well.

They make it bold as well, so it stands out.

Now we're going to select that.

And that is our text.

Now, let's move that on top.

Now, you can see at the moment it's got a bit of a white background.

So let's go into our effects.

And you can see the background color currently is white.

So if I make the transparency 100%, then it will be transparent and it looks a little bit better.

Okay.

Our next task is we need to create the four different colored visualizations so we can have a total

sales, total profit, average sales and number of products.

Okay.

So let's start with that.

We're going to start with the card visualization and consume it, make quite big or make a bit smaller.

And the first one we're going to do is our total sales.

So we're going to drop that in there, get the total sum of our sales, and we use our formatting on

this.

So let's say for example, in general, we are going to use a title, so we're going to say that this

is our total sales.

And let's make the text color white.

She use a bluish background.

And let's put that horizontally in the middle.

Let's look across now at the way that these values are being displayed.

So the call out value, let's make this a 27 size.

And let's make it pure black.

And we'll make it two decimal places.

There we go.

And we know that we're not going to use a category label.

So we're going to turn that off.

Turn.

There we go.

Now, you'll see at the moment I don't have a border, so I'm going to go back.

Let's just go back and put a border in there.

Go back to our effects.

A visual border.

We're going to say it's on.

Let's give it a dark gray border and let's give it a 15 pixel rounding of the corners.

So there we go.

That kind of works.

Right.

I'm going to use this as the basis for the next one.

So we're just going to copy and paste this.

I'm going to use Control C, Control V, let's use that, move it across a bit, and the next one is

our total profit.

So let's take our profit and drop that in there and we can see that we need to change our title.

So I'm going to go to my formatting.

Go to my title and we're just going to say that this is my total profit.

There we go.

That looks good.

All right.

The next one is going to be my average cells, so that actually just use this first one again, Control

C, control V to copy and paste.

And in this case, though, we're going to be using the average cells value.

So let's go back to our value itself.

Let's change the method of aggregation and we can get our average cell, which looks good.

And again, I just need to change the title just so we're telling everybody that this is actually the

average cells, right?

The next one we're going to do is what is the number of products.

So we're going to be using our product name and I'll count distinct.

So let's just use this one.

Copy and paste, get a product name again, drop that into our fields and we need to change this to

account.

Distinct.

There we go.

We've got the right number of products now we just need to change our title and then that will be completed.

So we'll see a number of products.

Okay, great.

So the next part we're going to look at is to create an area graph displaying the sales by year end

quarter.

So we're going to select our area graph.

Let's drag it in there, make it a little bit bigger.

There we go.

We're going to need our order date field.

So we're going to drop that into our x axis.

A y axis in this case needs to be sales.

So we're going to drag that into our y axis.

Now, we've got a lot of data there at the moment, so what we're going to use is drill up and you can

see it's summer sales by year for a month at the moment.

But there we go, some of sales by year and quarter.

Okay.

We may just want to change this title just to make it look a little bit better.

So we're going to say title instead of saying some of sales, we're just going to say sales by year

and quarter.

And again, we can pop that in the middle.

Could use a background color.

Use.

What?

It's a little bit darker, so let's use the that one.

It's the right one.

Again and again.

We could also use a border around this.

Let's pop a border on.

Let's put a visual border on, make a dark gray and 15 pixels.

Okay, great.

So now the next one we're going to be looking at is create a column graph that displays the profit by

product category.

So we're going to create a column graph.

Just drop it in here.

Here we go.

And what I'm going to do is actually just use my format painter.

So I'm going to go back to the home format painter from this one selected on this one.

And now we're going to use our profit by product.

So let's just drop that into our x axis, profit into our Y axis.

And there we go.

We've got this right formatting for this.

And we do have product category and some of profit, the two titles here.

So you might want to take those off x axis, just take your titles off y axis, take your title off

as well.

And there we go.

That's a little bit better.

Okay.

The last one we're going to be doing is to create a paragraph display and the profit by channel.

So again, let's just create a paragraph.

And.

Put that down there.

Again, I could use the format painter.

Consistency.

And in this case, we're going to be using our channel.

In our legend and the values that we want is all profit.

So we'll drop that into our values.

And there we go.

We have got the values.

However, I'm going to change this a little bit just to change the labels.

And what I'm going to say is that I want the category and the percentage of total to be shared.

So we share in the category and percentage of total.

I'm going to put those on and now it gives me enough information that I actually do not need the legend

on anymore, which will give me quite a bit more space that actually looks a little bit better.

Okay.

Now, the last part is that I just need to create a slicer for the region.

I don't have too many values in the region, so let's create a slicer.

Put up here and drop it in.

There's a couple of options here.

I could just have it here as a dropdown list, or what I could do is go into my formatting slicer settings

and we could say that we would want it in a different way.

You could say you would want it in a dropdown and in this case now you could pop it up there if you

wanted.

And but in this case what I'm going to do is I'm going to keep it as a list.

So let's go back to that, go back to slicer settings, go back to your vertical list and we'll just

keep it as it is like that at the moment.

Okay.

You could put a border around this if you wanted.

So we could just add a border fix, put a visual border on.

And change that.

Okay, there we go.

Let me make this slightly bigger.

So there we go.

We've now got a simple report that we've created for our sales manager.

We're going to be using this report in the next lesson.
