In this lesson, we're going to be looking at another new visual.

So this visual is called the Cod visual.

So you can see we've cleared our page again.

So if you want to keep your existing pages, then please just add new pages into your Power BI report.

Also, please note that at any point you can go into your system, just go to your save and you can

save your reports.

So just make sure that you're saving your reports as you go along.

But as you go along, you might want to just add new pages as you go and then just name them.

According to the section that we're working on now, we're going to be working on the card visualization

in this lesson.

So let's have a look at the card visualization.

You'll see that it's over here and it's got the one, two, three on it.

So it's quite easy to to see as a visualization.

And the reason for using a card visualization is when you want to take one metric and you want to make

it very dominant.

So this is when you take your key metrics or your KPIs, your key performance indicators, and you want

to be able to make them very visually predominant.

In your report, you want people to notice them.

Okay, So let's have a look at an example of one.

So we're going to pick our card again.

We get the placeholder and you can see that it just allows you to have fields.

And in this case, you're going to find that you can only actually put one field in there.

So the KPI can only have one field in it, the card visualization.

So we're going to start again with our sales figure.

We're getting quite used to this figure, so I'm going to drop that into our field and you're probably

used to that total as well.

The total sales that is in our data set at the moment.

So you can see this is quite a big number.

It's quite easy to see, but really what you're going to find yourself doing is probably a little bit

of formatting on this.

So it shows us the value and then it shows us the sum of sales.

So I'm going to go into the formatting.

We're just going to make some changes to this and we're actually going to start in the general.

Now you've already seen the properties.

We can change our size or height and where it is.

I'm not going to worry about that, but what I am going to do is I'm going to put a title on.

So I actually use the title and I use that then to be able to explain what my key metric is.

So in this case, we're going to say this is our total sales.

And so to use a white and we can use a background color on this, let's use a dark blue and let's put

this in the middle.

And if you wanted to, you could actually make it a little bit bigger as well.

Okay.

So once you've got that, you can now resize this and you can start to see look a little bit better

there.

So you got your title.

What I also will do is we're going to use our border again.

So I'm going to go into my visual border again.

I'm going to use my put that on and we're going to use our dark gray and I'm going to again, use 15

pixels for our rounded corners.

Right.

So now we've got that and you can see that it's got some text over here which is actually called the

category label.

So let's go back into this.

Let's go back to our formatting.

And this time let's have a look at the visual side.

So you've got two options here.

And the first one is actually category labels.

So I'm actually just going to turn this off.

We no longer have the category label.

Now you can see now we've got our title and we've got our value.

So the next point I'm going to look at is how do we change this value?

So this value for me at the moment is a little bit big.

I'm going to make it a little bit smaller.

Let's make it a size 27 and you can make a bold and italics if you wanted.

You could change the color.

I'm going to keep all of those.

But in this case, I'm going to keep the display units as auto, but I'm going to change the number

of decimal places.

So we're actually going to give it two decimal places.

When you're looking at millions, often having a little bit more precision because a million is quite

a big number.

If it goes from 55 to 56, you might want to know is a 5.2 or 55.4 or 5.8.

It makes quite a big difference.

So actually having two decimal places here just gives a little bit more value.

So now if I look at that, that isn't too bad.

We're going to use that as a starting.

I'm going to move this one across and we've got our total sales value.

Now, let's say we also wanted to see a card.

We wanted to see our total profit.

Now, one of the easy ways to do this is you could just copy and paste this visualization.

The other option is you could create a new card and you could use your format painter if you just wanted

to use the existing ones.

But what I'm going to do is I'm going to actually use copy and paste, so I'm going to select it, get

a copy.

We're then going to paste this and we're just going to move it next to it here.

And again, you can see the alignment guides.

Just help me place it.

Now, in this case, we've got the exact same card, but we're going to change things.

So what we're going to do is we're going to take our profit value.

And what you need to do is you actually need to put it on top of the existing sales value.

You can't remove the sales value because you'll find that the visualization itself will just disappear

and you've got to recreate it.

You just actually drop it on top.

Now you can see we've got the sum of profit, so that value is looking quite good, but obviously our

title now is maybe incorrect.

So what we're going to do is just go back to our formatting and we're going to go back to General.

We're just going to go to our title.

And in this case, instead of total sales, we're now going to say this is our total profit.

So there we go.

That's better looking, right?

Let's just make another copy and paste.

You could use control C control fee as well.

That will work.

And let's move this across.

Let's say, for example, now we wanted to know what is the average sales value for the actual data

set.

So again, let's go back to our fields.

Let's drop our sales on top of our profit.

And in this case, now we're going to change the method of aggregation like we did just previously.

So we'll just do the drop down click on average.

Now we've got the average sales value again.

Now our title is incorrect, so let's go back to our title.

And in this case, now we're going to say this is our average sales.

Okay, let's create another example of that.

Let's say we wanted to know what is our maximum value.

So as you can see, I just used control C and control V just to do a control copy and paste.

Let's go back now.

We've got the sales value, so let's go back into our values.

Let's click on over here.

And in this case we're going to say we're going to look at the maximum value.

So you can see you've got the maximum value, which we know is 78,000.

Now it's got the K at the moment.

So what I might want to do is actually just go into my formatting on this.

We might want to go to our call out value and instead of display units being auto, let's just say none

and you get the full value.

But in this case then I would want no decimal places.

So that's looking better.

Again, though, my title is incorrect now.

So I would go back to my general and let's just go to our title.

And in this case we're going to say this is my highest.

Actually, it's not sales.

It would be a sale in this case because it's just an individual sale.

So I'm going to say that would be our highest sales value.

Okay.

One more.

Let's take an example where we want to know what is the number of products in our dataset.

So we're going to click on this again, Control C, Control V, just use that one.

But this time we're going to go back and instead of using sale, we would now use our product name.

So let's drop a product name into our fields and we don't want the first product name.

In this case, we would want a count distinct.

Remember that from the calculations previously and we'll remember seeing that there was 1638 products

in the dataset.

So that's looking good.

And I'm going to go back to our formatting.

And in this case, again, it's just really changing my title and we're just going to say this is my

number of products.

So there we go.

That's really useful.

Now, I call it visualizations really great when you want to show an individual key metric, but what

if you've got something like say, your channel or your region or even your countries when you want

to show quite a lot of key metrics against each of the items?

What we've got for this is a different visualization.

So we've got something called the multi row visualization.

So you see that you've got a multi row card and this allows you to have multiple different rows on that.

So we're going to click on the multi row card and we're going to select that.

Let's make it a little bit bigger.

And in this case, actually, let's use our product category.

We've got a few product categories, so we're going to drop that into our fields and you'll see straight

away.

Now I get a listing of my different product categories.

Now let's say I want to know, come on, the same type of.

Motion.

Let's say I want to know what is my total sales?

Total profit.

Average sales.

So let's just keep it simple for now.

Just the three values.

I think you know by now how to how to create more.

So we're just going to put three values in there.

So let's say we want our sales value in there.

We want our profit value in there and we want our sales value again.

So you see I'm building this at the moment.

I've got the three values now.

And what I'm going to do is I'm just going to change these to suit what I want to display.

So I do know that the first one is actually my sum of sales.

That's correct.

Second one is actually my sum of profit.

So that's perfect.

However, the third one we know is we want to see our average value in there.

So you can see that the titles now have been changed.

And you may remember from earlier that we could change the names of these fields because these these

may be on perfect.

So I'm actually going to do that.

I'm actually going to just click in there and I'm going to say that's going to be my total sales.

I'm going to say this is going to be my total profit.

Spell that correctly profit.

And we've got our last one, which is our average sales.

So that's looking better now.

Here we go.

So those values are now being displayed.

Now, if you go to your formatting on this one, you do get some formatting options.

So you got the traditional ones of your title, your effects.

But really where I want to be here is your visual side.

So you call out values you'll remember from the previous one with the code they call out values.

Are these values over here?

It's how big are those?

So let's say we want you want to make these bold.

We want them to stick out a bit.

Actually, that looks pretty good.

I'm going to actually keep that.

I was going to make the font a bit bigger, but I think the bold makes it work quite well, so we're

going to stick with that.

Also in this case, now we do have the category labels.

So you see that we've got the category labels here.

In this case, you might want to make those maybe just a bit smaller.

There we go.

That actually works quite well, especially if you wanted to add more values into these key metrics.

And then the last one is your card.

Now, what the card is, is actually the way that this part is displaying over here.

So you've actually got a line on the left hand side and you can actually change that style.

The first part, though, is the title.

So you see that the title in this case is actually blue.

So if you wanted to change a color, maybe make it a darker blue, maybe not so dark.

There we go, back a bit bold.

You could change that.

You can change the size of it if you wanted to.

Probably a good idea because you want this to stand out a bit.

And you've got those values.

You can also change the style.

So if you wanted some border positions, say, for example, you wanted a border on the bottom and just

put a border across there.

You can change the color for that.

Also the padding.

And then you have something called the x and bar.

So the X bar is actually this line on the left hand side.

So let's say, for example, let's try and find a color that's going to stick out, let's say a red,

and let's make that width a bit bigger.

And basically that's just gives it a little bit of different styling for for set out.

So you can see now that we do have now our multi row and we got some nice information being displayed

for the different product categories.

And as I said, you could actually change these.

You could actually have other ones in place, maybe just might want to have channels, say, for example

there and you would have your channels being displayed.

I'm not sure why the color changed there a bit, but it did.

Or you could have your countries, for example.

The country is a lot more obviously this would give you quite a lot of key information that could be

quite easy to go through or quite go through.

So there we go.

That's an example of your multi row card and also your card visualization.
