And today we're going to be looking at

some first aid stuff.

Alright, so these are quite important

because when you're

teaching your students, or maybe

sometimes they'd have an emergency or

something like that, and

you need to tell your students

the English names, English pronunciation,

and things like that when you're teaching

first aid.

So, let's get into the video!

Okay, so the first thing

we're gonna have a look at is our

Disposable gloves

All right, give it a try

Perfect... maybe...

we can't really hear you

Anyways, okay, so these

are your disposable gloves

You can usually buy them

in three main materials

Most common that I like is nitrile

The second one is latex

and another one is vinyl

So those are three materials that you can

buy for your rubber gloves.

Okay, very important when you're talking

about disposable gloves,

you'd have to tell your students

Put...

Put...

Put on

Thumb here

Take off.

So 'put on' and 'take off'

Another word you can also say is 'wear'

Wear your rubber gloves.

So our next one we're

gonna have a look at is

Our elastic bandages.

Another name for this one,

we also call them our pressure bandages

Yeah, because when you wrap

them up they create pressure.

Another name is compression bandage

There's like a million names, but the

main name is elastic bandages.

So the reason why we'd

use an elastic bandage is mainly for

swelling so to help with

swelling reduce swelling and

if you have a sprain or a strain

It sounds exactly the same, almost

Sprain; maybe you twist your arm and

you can't move it anymore.

Sometimes you're walking and your leg...

That's a sprain.

A strain -

Maybe you're exercising too much and

the muscle is overused

That's a strain

So be careful...

All right. Let's move on to the next one.

Okay, the next one we're gonna have a look at is our

Gauze.

What do Japanese say for this one?

Okay, I think that's copying English.

Actually...

So gauze are mainly used

actually for again pressure over a bleed

So if somebody's bleeding you'd obviously

want to put pressure on that

Maybe to try and stop

the bleeding or minimize it.

Also, it's used to help with clotting

So blood clotting is when

the blood stops and hardens

That's clotting

Gauze help clotting.

So whenever someone's bleeding

Obviously the main thing you want to do

is get a gauze on there and put pressure

to help the clotting.

That's your gauze.

Let's move on to the next one.

Okay, so the next one we're gonna do is our

triangular bandage

There you go!

The reason why we'd use this is also

again to minimize bleeding as well

and maybe you've got a

broken arm or a fracture.

Fracture is very important -

where the bone cracks

And then you've also got a broken bone,

which is where the bone shatters

So you'd obviously need to keep it in

place and help the person not move -

triangular bandages.

Let's get on to the next one.

So our next common one that we'd use is our

Pocket mask. That's right your pocket mask

so pocket masks come in a

variety of different styles

This is one of them

Where's my pocket mask?

Actually, I lost it during a dive but I

did order another one so it's coming soon

But I put a picture on the screen right

now for you guys to have a look at.

That is the yellow box's pocket mask.

We also call it a rescue breathing mask

So most rescue divers and above should

carry one of these in their pockets

while diving in case of any emergencies,

An alternative is

the other kind of pocket mask

mostly for land

It comes in this little baggy over here

and you can attach it to like a keyring or

something like that and yeah, this helps

prevent any germs or

any kind of

transfer when you're

giving rescue breaths.

So this is the other one.

We can put it on for you.

Oh! She's alive!

So that is the other kind.

Let's move on to the next one.

Our next item we're gonna

have a look at quickly is...

Safety pins.

So obviously these are

Very common - oh, this one is stuck

Okay. Yeah, this is our safety pins.

I'll put a picture on screen for you now

but these we use for...

bandages.

So if you want to tie up a bandage - secure it,

you'd obviously need your safety pins

Let's move on to the next one.

Okay. Our next item we're gonna

have a look at is very small

Tweezers?

Ah! Very good. Yes, you're tweezers.

Sometimes you'd have a stingray

Maybe the tail,

hit someone and you've got some spines or

spikes you'd need to remove

Tweezers you'd need.

So obviously you can pick them out gently

So on the 'ers' faster...

There you go. That's your tweezers.

Let's move on to the next one.

All right. So our next one we're gonna

have a look at is the band aids.

I think in Japanese it's the same?

Okay in English band aids.

Band aids.

It sounds like it's one word

but it's actually two...

So obviously, if somebody has a cut or a scrape

You'd need a band aid.

That's your band aids.

Let's move on to the next one.

Okay. Our next one is a little bit more trickier

Thermometer

Okay. She's pretty good, but I think

you gonna need a lot more practice.

Yes, you need

One two three four five sounds

Thermometer, whoa.

Sorry you need four sounds

Be careful not 'tuh-mometer'.

All right, obviously your thermometer shows?

Body temperature. Yes. That's another big one.

Temperature.

Temperature comes in two forms:

Celsius

All right, and the 'F' Americans use it...

Fahrenheit

All right, let's move on to the next one.

Okay, sometimes somebody might be in a

lot of pain during the dive or maybe,

they've I don't know,

they've heard themselves.

Or they've got a headache.

I like to keep in my emergency first aid kit

some headache tablets

A more common name would be a painkiller.

Because I'm killing the pain, so...

Painkillers.

If somebody asks you for headache medicine,

headache tablets, headache pills, painkillers...

All the same thing.

Let's move on to the next one.

All right, so our final one

We're gonna have a look at is

This monkey.

Yeah, what is he holding?

Antiseptic spray

It could be spray or liquid.

Spray is...

Liquid is the one you put on.

I don't know why they said spray here because

this is actually a liquid.

But anyways, somebody gets a cut you

don't want it to get infected things like that.

Generally when you applying antiseptic spray

We'd either use one of these.

So a typical name 'ear buds'

or Q-tips

and I don't know, if you don't have these

sometimes you'd have something like this,

which is your cotton wool

We have the flat ones (pads)

You can also have the balls, cotton wool balls

The important part is that they are

sanitized cotton wool

But you generally use these when applying

so if monkey gets cut,

put some on here and use your Q-tip

or your cotton wool.

Obviously in future videos, we will try a

little bit more and put some more items
