[The Substitute Princess's Love]

[Episode 24]

I've checked the terrain nearby.

We can open up farmlands

and bring water here to irrigate them.

That way we can provide enough food for ourselves.

During the three years when you garrison the border,

you don't have to worry about the food anymore.

Well,

then I have to confer

the title of Army's Farmlands Director on you.

General,

you are getting more and more humorous.

No, I have to go home.

You can farm the lands yourself.

General,

the spy has confessed.

This is the portrait of the chief of Nanzhu Pavilion

drawn according to his statement.

Isn't…

Isn't that the Princess of Liang in your mansion?

It's her!

Your Highness.

Sir.

News from the capital

says that the soldiers of our mansion escorted the Princess of Liang back to Liang under orders.

But unexpectedly, the princess was highly skilled in martial arts.

She killed everyone and ran away on the way.

She left only this letter written with blood.

If you still want to see your loved one,

come to see me immediately.

Prepare the horse.

Your Highness.

The imperial edict says if you return to the capital,

you'll be punished the same as an accomplice conspiring against the state.

Let me go instead.

But the chief of Nanzhu Pavilion

has been lurking beside me for so long.

I can't risk my princess's life.

Sir.

Sir.

General, think twice!

General.

if the nomads in the North know

that you will be punished after you go back

and that there will be no general guarding here,

I'm afraid they'll come back to invade us.

Go back.

Take my share of care for her.

You protect her,

and I will protect our country.

Your Majesty.

I, Zuo Shuangzhi,

have something important to report.

[Cangdu]

His Majesty has ordered

Prince Jin should guard the border for three years

and is not allowed to enter the capital.

Get out of my way if you don't want to die.

Your Highness.

We can't disobey His Majesty's order.

Please turn around and go back.

If you insist on breaking through,

don't blame me

for being rude to you.

[Cangdu]

My lord.

According to the spies in the city,

Zuo Shuangzhi, the Princess of Liang,

found an edict of the late emperor

in Prince Jin's Mansion

and submitted it to His Majesty.

What's going on in the palace then?

We don't know about it yet.

But Prince Jin rushed back

from the barracks in the North

and broke into the city gate.

It is said that

he wants to confront the Princess of Liang.

Go to the palace.

Prepare the horse.

Yes.

Today

has finally arrived!

Wen Ye.

You're finally here.

Where is she?

I've prepared your favorite tea.

If you want to know where she is,

sit down and drink this cup of tea.

I never thought

you were the leader of Nanzhu Pavilion.

Yes.

Do you know

how I became the leader of Nanzhu Pavilion?

It's all because of you, Wen Ye.

That year,

you saved me on the battlefield.

I then joined Nanzhu Pavilion.

You told me to struggle to live.

I stepped on the blood of my comrades and went all the way up.

But I didn't expect

that you were the God of War of Cang,

my biggest enemy.

Destiny played such a big joke on me.

Who I need to kill

is the person I've loved for so many years.

Zuo Shuangzhi,

You don't know anything about love.

It's you who don't know anything!

Shen Keyi is a weak woman.

She will only be your burden.

But I'm different.

I can be your biggest ally.

I can betray Nanzhu Pavilion

and my motherland for you.

I am the one who loves you the most.

You're obsessive.

Zuo Shuangzhi,

no matter what happened between us in the past,

I will never fall in love with

a ruthless person with blood on her hands.

Ruthless?

Blood on my hands?

You still have a chance to mend your ways.

Tell me.

Where is Shen Keyi?

If you really love her so much,

will you do anything for her?

What do you want me to do?

Tell me. I'll do anything.

Fine.

Kneel.

That's not enough.

I want you to cut off the tendons in your wrists and ankles.

What?

Are you reluctant now?

Right.

If you, Wen Ye,

become a cripple,

it'll be more painful than being dead.

What a pity.

But besides trusting me,

you have no other choice.

I hope you can keep your promise.

Why?

You're a prince.

What's so good about her?

What's so good about her that she deserves you to do this?

She is my wife.

I love her deeply.

She's the best in my heart.

Let me tell you then.

Shen Keyi is already dead.

What did you say?

She's dead.

I killed her myself.

Your Highness, run!

Nan Bo!

Run, Your Highness. Don't mind me. Run!

You run pretty fast.

Zuo Shuangzhi.

His Highness is a good general.

He has never been rebellious.

You know clearly that if you hand these things

to the imperial court,

His Highness will die.

So what?

I love him more than you do.

How could he

not even look at me?

If I can't have him,

I will destroy him.

You're crazy through and through!

You don't cry uncle even if you're dying.

Just give me the edict.

Maybe I'll spare your life.

In the Prince's Mansion,

I've gained

the strongest and warmest power in the world.

It's the love from His Highness,

which you will never get.

You...

Love is protection,

not destruction.

♫I took off the winding light sent by the moon♫

You're making it up!

If she is dead,

you won't have any chips

♫I cut the hidden line at the center of the palm silently♫

and you wouldn't have dared to come to see me.

Why do I need chips?

♫Among the clouds and in the sky♫

I've submitted the edict you kept

♫My missing of you is hidden secretly♫

to your emperor.

You have no place in the court.

♫Only a light of our predestined love is left there, and it's flickering♫

My mission is completed.

That's good.

In this life,

I can't get your love.

It's also good to get your hatred.

[Auspiciousness and Gook Luck Are Gathered Here]

Your Majesty.

Prince Jin has no respect for the law.

As the Nation-protecting General,

he disobeyed the imperial edict

and barged into the city gate to return to the capital.

Moreover,

he secretly hid an edict of the late emperor.

He's trying to undermine Your Majesty's power.

Such a person...

Your Majesty,

don't be merciful to him.

How did you know

that the edict was written by the late emperor

and what it was about?

She couldn't protect the edict,

nor can you protect her.

We are both pitiful.

You want to die?

It's not that easy.

Shen Keyi.

You can never beat me.

Only I can save Wen Ye.

I love him more than you do.

Your Majesty, I...

Prince Jin.

Prince Jin.

Your Majesty.

I'm here to apologize for my crime.

Please grant me a death, Your Majesty.

Prince Jin.

What crime did you commit?

The first crime

is that I took the liberty to return to the capital.

The second crime

is that I killed the Princess of Liang without permission.

You killed her?

Yes.

Don't you

want to know

what the imperial edict

in the black iron box

sent by the Princess of Liang was about?

I never thought

this imperial edict would be brought to light again.

No,

I didn't expect

to get this thing

from a foreign princess.

Shen,

take a good look.

Everything written here

is evidence of your collusion with Nanzhu Pavilion.

[Prime Minister Shen Yurong came from a humble family and is greedy for money] [He's always been on bad terms with General Wen Ye of Cang] [He's actually a spy of our country Liang in Cang]

This...

How could it be?

This is impossible.

What about the edict?

Prince Jin and the Princess of Liang State must have…

Shen.

At this point,

you still want to find excuses?

Because

you've served three emperors,

you were my teacher when I was young,

and you've contributed a lot to stabilizing the court,

I tolerated you once and again.

I didn't expect

you could be so bold.

You embezzled money and took bribes.

And you even committed treason.

Not only did you cause the death

of millions of soldiers who defended the border,

but you also put your finger in my pie again and again.

Your Majesty, please spare me!

Please spare me, Your Majesty!

Please forgive me for being foolish.

It's all...

because of that woman Zuo Shuangzhi.

She kept threatening me.

That's how I descended to the extent

that I committed a capital crime.

Your Majesty,

I have contributed

to Cang.

Please show mercy, Your Majesty.

Please show mercy, Your Majesty!

Shen Yurong

colluded with the spy of Liang State,

sold the military information,

embezzled military rations,

and caused the miss of combat opportunities.

He deserves to die ten thousand times!

There are treacherous officials in the country.

There are treacherous officials in the country.

Prince Jin,

in your view,

what should we do about him?

All the property of the Shen family

should be confiscated

to reward the three armies, to support the border defense,

and to award to the families of the dead and wounded soldiers

to comfort their souls.

As for Prime Minister Shen,

I beg your mercy

to exile him to Zhenxi Pass

and to forbid him from returning to the capital ever.

Shen Yurong's crime is so serious

that it will not be too much to execute him.

Prince Jin, why do you

spare his life?

Your Majesty is benevolent

and shows mercy to a senior official who served three emperors.

My selfish intention is

that I hope Prime Minister Shen

could feel the endless snow

in Zhenxi Pass

and feel the pain we felt when we were trapped in the cold.

Only in this way

can we console the dead officers and soldiers.

Do as

what Prince Jin said.

Is your wound

all right?

I'll ask the imperial physician to treat you.

Brother.

It's just a minor injury.

Don't worry.

Is that

from Zuo Shuangzhi?

I don't know why

Zuo Shuangzhi gave me

the evidence of her collusion with Shen Yurong.

I asked her if she needed sanctuary.

She only asked me

to grant her one last request.

I love Prince Jin,

but I couldn't get him.

Someone told me

love is not destruction,

but protection.

I want to know

how to protect someone.

I know I can't escape the death penalty.

My only wish

is to die in his hands.

From then on,

all the love and hatred can end there.

It turns out

all she wanted was to die.

No wonder she said those words to provoke me.

The woman

was deeply in love.

In my opinion,

we should keep her body whole

and send it back to Liang State.

I'll do as you say.

By the way,

when the Princess of Liang

came to deliver the evidence,

she also said

this was a deal she made

with someone.

Could it be

a deal she made with you?

Is she

still alive?

Brother,

I have a request.

Please permit it.

Go ahead.

I

want to resign from my position and military power,

leave the court,

and become a commoner.

There will no longer be a Prince Jin in the court.

I'm going to look for her.

You...

Have you made up your mind?

Yes.

Come.

Third Brother.

When I was young,

I was

jealous of your intelligence and kung fu.

I was so jealous

that I even pretended to have accidentally pushed you into the lake of the garden.

But I regretted it right away.

You're the brother with whom I grew up together.

Actually,

I never suspected you.

But many times,

in order to balance the fractions of the court,

I had to behave that way.

If it's just because of

the edict of which the existence is not even for sure,

you don't have to do this.

Brother.

It's all in the past.

As you know,

I don't care about fame or status.

Now that the war is over,

I think

it's time to have a good rest.

Alright.

I

approve.

Thank you, Brother.

Brother,

I can

focus on looking for her.

[Three years later]

[Zhenxi Pass]

[Zhenxi Pass]

Shen Keyi.

I've found

the path I'm going to take,

which is to protect the country

where you can live and work in peace.

My name is Zhou Yu.

The sky is high enough for the bird to fly freely.

The ocean is vast enough for the fish to swim around.

What?

Here you are.

What's that?

It's fake.

It's a fake grasshopper.

This is a fake grasshopper.

Come and sit.

I didn't expect you to be so cowardly.

You are never serious

and always make fun of me.

It's true this time.

I don't believe it.

Really.

This is real. Look.

For me?

Do you like it?

Why do you give me this for no reason?

I...

I like you, that's why.

I'll put it on for you. Okay?

[Happiness]

How can you eat it secretly?

So you're the one

♫Because the flowers once bloomed, I won't forget them after seeing them♫

♫Do you know this glance♫

♫Is the gaze that has made us stay so far away from each other?♫

♫Even if our nation touches my tender heart♫

♫I still want to hear about the details♫

♫I've seen the glitter in the bleakness♫

♫So I'll never grow tired of the daylight♫
