I'd feel so anxious, like, I'd feel it all over my body.

Like, God forbid anyone figures out that I also like women.

I'm ashamed of it now, but it's like, I just pray... Like, prayed

that it would never be found out about my sexuality.

I don't want to stand out. - Yeah.

I used to suppress the way I behaved and the way I acted,

and you don't realise what it actually does to a person

when they're not able to fully be themselves.

We're not just talking about being queer, we're talking about, like,

our, like, race, as well and our culture. It's different. - Mm.

- There was even a time where I was kind of known as Black Lailah.

I'm like, "I'm the only Lailah here.

I didn't feel proud of my heritage.

I used to be scared to, like, you know, if I would say

a Punjabi word, if I played, like, my music, like bhangra in front

of my friends, they'd laugh and make fun of it.

Me and Lailah have a close bond just because,

we've, like, a similar upbringing.

Now I can say that I'm very proud of who I am -

a queer Punjabi woman.
