[June 11, 1990, Supply and Marketing Cooperative of Gupan Town, Linjiang, Jiangdong Province]

Don't you want to work for Boss?

Kill him.

This will show your sincerity.

Kill him!

Stab him here.

Stab him!

Stab him!

Mr. Chen Jingming

is a leading figure

in our city's private enterprises

and has made outstanding contributions

to our city's economic development.

First,

the rise of the Minghua Group

in just four years

cannot be separated from the full support

of the Linjiang Municipal Government.

[One day before the kidnapping incident, Linjiang No. 1 Prison]

Bro.

[TELL NO ONE]

[Episode 2: Falling Out]

We're all puppets.

No talking, no moving.

One.

Xue, where are you going?

You have to turn yourself in.

This videotape must be handed over

to Li, Zheng, and the others

to seek clemency.

Are you crazy?

How could this happen?

How?

What happened?

Dad.

Let's take her to the sanatorium first.

Every time she gets sick, she's sent to the sanatorium.

How many times has this happened?

Dad.

This is not a solution.

Doctor.

Doctor, come here.

Doctor.

How is my daughter?

She's been given a sedative.

Can we go in and see her?

Yes.

But please keep quiet.

Okay.

Mom.

Mom.

Mom.

Chen Jingming!

What are you doing?

You're doing well.

Is the whole building yours?

Come on, show me around.

Hurry up.

I have a meeting to attend.

Then let's have dinner together tonight.

I have an appointment... With someone tonight.

Maybe another day.

Take care of your sister.

Mom.

Mom.

Lei Naiwu is released.

Zheng's case

may have a new chance.

I need you to keep undercover.

Keep an eye on Lei Naiwu

and find clues about Zheng's disappearance.

You just let him go?

You want to see me?

What is it?

Why didn't you let me interrogate him?

What to interrogate?

Did Gao Yang clarify

what happened six years ago?

Haven't you already gone through

the files of the case six years ago?

What else do you want to clarify?

But on the night

before Liu Qing's arrest,

Gao Yang and my dad

disappeared for 46 minutes.

During those 46 minutes,

where did he and my dad go,

what did they do?

Did he explain?

Don't you think his answer then

was very suspicious?

Chief Li.

Say something.

I have nothing to tell you.

Chief Li.

Six years ago,

during the overseas drug enforcement operation

conducted in collaboration with the neighboring country's police,

the Provincial Bureau secretly decided

on the undercover candidate.

I heard

that the mission ended

just half a month ago.

This comrade received an award.

For six years,

he has been living incognito,

completely cut off from the team.

But there were specific people

to contact him.

Is the person I'm talking about

Gao Yang?

You've become smarter than before.

It’s really him.

You ordered to kidnap Xueying, did you?

Are you getting off or should I get in?

Gao Yang.

Gao Yang, stop!

Have you come back in these six years?

You have.

And not just once.

In these past few years,

you visited Mom's grave.

[Beloved Mother, Hu Wanying, Beloved Father, Zheng Ying]

You also went to

the forest where my father disappeared.

Am I right, Gao Yang?

But why couldn’t you

come back to see me?

Even if you gave me

a call?

Have you called me even once?

I was executing the mission.

There were confidentiality clauses, you know...

But why did you secretly

call Chen Xueying

and not call me?

It’s been so many years, Gao Yang.

I've been trying to find out about you all this time.

I've been waiting for you.

You know that?

In 1990,

at the Supply and Marketing Cooperative of Gupan Town,

your father was killed.

From that moment on,

my dad,

Uncle Li,

and I never stopped

pursuing the killer.

It was also from that moment on

that my dad treated you

as his own son.

My dad has been missing for six years.

I hope that for the sake of my dad's

nurturing of you

for more than ten years,

you can give me an answer.

Six years ago,

where did you go

during the 46 minutes

when you disappeared with my dad?

I've already talked about

what happened six years ago

with Chief Li and the special task force.

I know you too well, Gao Yang.

I know you better than anyone else.

You've been avoiding me

because you want to

keep hiding things from me.

I'll ask you one last time.

Six years ago,

where did you go

during the 46 minutes

when you disappeared with my dad?

I want you

to tell me right now.

Because that's my dad!

Say something!

Trust me.

This was found at the crime scene.

Gao Yang.

Gao Yang.

Gao Yang!

Half of your company's shares.

Look at you.

You insisted on going alone.

Look at what you ended up with.

Dad.

Jiadong.

Your dad is in a bad mood.

was in a bad mood today.

He had a little to drink

and got into a fight with someone.

Mr. Chen,

it won't sound good

given your status.

I'm fine.

Jiadong.

How is Xueying?

She...

She's more stable now.

Uncle Guan.

I'll take care of my dad.

Okay, come.

Get some rest soon.

Give it to me.

Go take care of your sister.

Jiadong, you...

Who did this?

I'm asking you.

Who did this?

Jiadong.

Stay out of this.

Does it have anything to do with you?

Does it

have anything to do with you?

It does.

Lei Naiwu did it.

Lei Naiwu?

I'll kill him today!

Jiadong.

Jiadong, you're no match for him.

Calm down.

Since he dared to hurt Xueying,

he won't live through today.

Jiadong!

Jiadong!

I beg you.

You can't go.

Listen to me.

It's not easy for us

to come this far safely.

Don't stir up trouble.

Okay?

Wish you prosperity!

We haven't found him, Bro.

Wish you prosperity!

Wish you prosperity!

How can you be late to pick someone up?

My name is Lu Sheng.

May I have your name?

Mr. Lu, sorry to keep you waiting.

My name is Gao Hu.

My boss, Mr. Liu, asked me to pick you up.

Nice to meet you.

Based on the surveillance footage on the scene,

[Kidnapping case]

we estimate the suspect

to be around 180 cm tall

and weighing about 80 kg.

We found two clear fingerprints

at the site where we rescued the hostages.

They don't match the fingerprints in the current

provincial fingerprint database.

We suspect he's committing crimes in different places.

We've sent the data

to other provinces

for joint comparison.

We found drug components

in the victim's body.

The same residue

was detected inside

a mineral water bottle

picked up at the scene.

Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate.

A neurotropic hallucinogen.

According to the data,

it's N98,

commonly known as a "compliance-inducing drink".

The main culprits

in the 2003 case of the family-style manufacture

and sale of N98 have all been arrested.

Qin Fen, Qin Min,

and their parents and spouses

were all arrested at the same time.

But their family

actually has a third son,

named Qin Yong.

At that time, he was abroad.

There has been no news of him since.

The clue about Qin Yong

can be further investigated.

[Investigate Qin Yong]

We searched the CCTV footage

from seven days before the incident

and identified seven locations

where the suspect frequently appeared.

Among them,

these six

are covered by surveillance.

Zhao Long.

You don't know me?

Of course, I do.

Gao Hu.

Everyone, stop.

Come here.

Let me introduce someone to you.

I turned the remaining one place

into a nine-grid.

What we need to do now

to search through these nine grids

one by one,

narrowing down the area.

We'll force the suspect into the surveillance area

and make him show up.

His name is Gao Hu.

Back then, he worked for Liu Qing.

He was dominating

in Linjiang.

I

was bullied by them a lot.

I was beaten by them every day.

I didn't expect you

to come to my place today.

Okay.

Now,

I'm going to regain

my lost dignity from you.

Why do you hold grudges like this?

I'm not here to fight you.

I want to ask you about someone.

Beat me first.

You've improved. Huh?

You didn't train for nothing.

Is everyone registered?

Everyone is strictly registered according to the regulations.

Do you have any impression of the person

who appeared at noon?

I don't have any impression

of this person.

I see.

Dongyu. He is not in Jiaping Road.

Not in Yongpingnan Road.

Not in the Economic Development Zone.

Great!

Great!

I surrender.

I surrender.

I surrender.

You do?

I surrender.

Keep practicing for a few more years.

Help me find this person.

[Jiangning Bank]

She ran away.

You even attracted the police there.

How dare you ask me for money?

What are you thinking?

Master Wu,

you can’t say that.

I kidnapped that girl

according to your instructions.

I even injected her

with something fun.

Are you crazy?

Are you looking for trouble?

You are the one looking for trouble.

You didn't tell me

that the girl you wanted to kidnap

is Chen Jingming's daughter.

If I knew

she was Chen Jingming's daughter,

the 50,000 yuan you promised earlier

wouldn't have been enough.

Even if I don't give you a penny,

what can you do?

What can I do?

What can I do?

At worst, I'll turn myself in

to the police.

I'll honestly tell them

who

ordered me to kidnap,

who

ordered me to teach her a lesson,

and who

I was listening to.

Are you threatening me?

You don't care about your wife and son?

Master Wu.

When I respect you,

I'll call you Master Wu.

If I don't respect you,

you're just a fart.

You're threatening me with a countryside woman

and a child?

Listen to me, you fart.

I want 200,000 now.

Not a penny less.

I'll leave when I see the money.

If I don't see the money,

I can accompany you back to prison

for another couple of years.

Okay.

I'll give you 200,000.

It's a deal.

After I give you the money,

you leave Linjiang,

alright?

Bro.

Have some noodles.

Bro, have some noodles.

Where can we get 200,000

for him?

I'll burn it to him.

[Minghua Group]

What happened to your leg?

Are you injured?

I'm fine.

I found Zhao Long,

a former member of the Guangdong gang.

He said Qin Yong

has been hiding in a place called

Lengshui Village in Mount Xiaocang.

He has a child

about seven or eight years old.

It's close to where Zheng was murdered.

Right.

On the day Zheng went missing,

Lei Naiwu didn't have enough time.

But if there was someone

hiding nearby,

Lei Naiwu would handle the killing

while that person would handle the body.

And he was not one of Liu Qing's men.

So, he wouldn't have been discovered

during the interrogation and investigation.

By the way,

Zhao Long also said

Qin Yong used to work for Lei Naiwu.

The day after Lei Naiwu

was released from prison,

Chen Xueying was kidnapped

Is there a connection?

If it was Lei Naiwu,

why would he do this?

After Lei Naiwu was released,

we've been keeping an eye on him.

Lei Naiwu was seen

near the Minghua Building.

Maybe he

was after Chen Jingming.

I have to go to Chen Jingming's house.

Then I'll

go ask Xueying.

Her condition should be stable.

Go ahead, but be careful.

Bro.

Don't stand there. Sit.

How is Xueying?

She has had

health problems since childhood.

After such a shock,

her condition worsened.

Even if you didn't come to me today,

I would've come to ask you.

When can you catch

that beast?

Don't worry.

We'll catch him soon.

Do you have any leads?

I can't tell you.

I just don’t understand.

You know Xueying

has been innocent since childhood,

and hardly knows anyone outside,

how could she provoke someone?

Although I'm a businessman,

I've always been kind to people

and done business in harmony.

I've never had any conflicts with anyone.

Thinking of Xueying's situation,

it's really baffling.

Did you ever deal with Liu Qing

back then?

Liu Qing?

Is Liu Qing the one from Guanghua Real Estate?

No.

He was the leader

of the counterfeit money gang

six years ago.

Liu Qing.

I heard about that.

It was very shocking back then.

It was in the newspaper.

They also said

the leader was shot dead on the spot.

How could I possibly know him?

Do you know Lei Naiwu?

Who?

Lei Naiwu.

You mean he did it?

Bro.

You keep saying this nonsense.

You are Xueying's uncle

and an experienced policeman.

You've solved so many cases.

Why can't you catch the culprit

in this child's case?

Calm down.

I...

Give me more time.

Xueying.

Did you know that bastard?

No.

I didn't know him.

He didn't know me either.

He didn't know you either?

When I told him my dad was Chen Jingming,

he stopped hitting me.

He looked surprised.

Then I said I would give him money.

I begged him to let me go.

He didn't agree.

He came and tore my clothes.

I was so scared.

He hugged me from behind.

I couldn't move.

I had no strength.

I don't know

why I had no strength.

I didn't want him to touch me.

I didn't want him to touch me.

His smell,

his sweat,

everything about him...

-Scared me. -Xueying.

I didn’t want him to touch me.

Xueying.

I didn’t want him to touch me.

I didn’t want him to touch me.

It's okay.

I'm here.

I'm here.

I'm here.

It's okay.

It's all in the past.

Well.

Here's the thing.

I know you and my sister

were getting close recently.

As her brother,

I don't really want to interfere

with her private life.

But her condition

is indeed unstable.

And I'm afraid her simple personality might cause her

sufferings from another shock.

Don't misunderstand.

Xueying and I are just friends.

When a friend has a problem,

I will definitely help.

I understand.

I hope you can understand me too.

After all, she's

my only sister.

I understand.

I'm leaving.

Call me if you need anything.

Thank you.

The kidnapper didn't know Chen Xueying.

The motive is unknown.

Bro,

we need to talk.

I have nothing to talk to you.

I know I was wrong.

I apologize to you first.

How about I hand over the person

who kidnapped your daughter

to you for punishment?

Is that okay?

Can I trust you on that?

You have to trust me.

Because we are brothers.

We share the same fate.

Well,

don't you think you should show some sincerity?

Because I...

I have no money

after getting out of prison.

Can you give me

some money to spend first?

When I see the person, you'll get the money.

That's very thoughtful.

So loyal.

That's what brothers do, right?

Bro.

Did you get the money?

Where can I get it?

There are only a few hours left.

If we can't come up with 200,000,

he'll really go to the police

and rat us out.

Alright, then you go and get it done.

Well.

Bro.

I have no money,

and you want me to go?

You don't have to bring money.

Just go there

and keep an eye on it.

Just come back

and tell me

everything you see.

Go ahead.
