[1992]

What were you going to say?

I plan to retire from the front line

and transfer to logistics.

I've made the report.

It should be approved in a few days.

Dengyuan,

I won't be able to

accompany you anymore.

Take care.

That's it?

What do you mean?

Dengyuan,

isn't it clear

what he means?

He won't be in danger on the front line anymore.

Don't you understand?

Our sister-in-law is sick. She has been diagnosed already.

Dongyu is young too.

If Zheng still acts like before,

rushing at the forefront,

and anything happens,

who will

care for his family?

Are you afraid?

Since you're in this field,

you'll face danger.

I'm not afraid.

This was what you told me back then.

What's stopping you

now?

Or are you going to be

a deserter because of the reasons he said?

Then I have nothing to say.

Dengyuan.

Zheng, I think

you made the right choice.

Really.

I support you.

Slow down.

Look at you.

Zheng.

You've grown up.

You look so spirited.

You're discharged from the military?

Yes.

What’s your plan?

He just took the exam

of the Municipal Public Security Bureau.

He got third place.

Not bad. We're peers.

Where did he get assigned to?

That's why we're here to ask you

to take him as your apprentice.

He is my

future son-in-law.

What do you mean?

Am I getting an apprentice today

or are you getting a son-in-law?

No, no.

Apprentice, apprentice.

Why don't you go first?

Get your apprentice.

What?

Are you worried?

Actually, I'm worried too.

I'm worried about your apprentice.

Enough.

Let go.

I'm leaving.

In the end,

I was wrong about you.

The real reason

you left the front line

was because you wanted to raise

Gao Jialing's son

and cultivate him.

It's been six years since you left.

You took too many secrets with you.

But what is the truth?

[TELL NO ONE]

[Episode 10: Despair]

You didn't go out?

I was waiting for your order.

Go and release Guan Dayong.

Can you?

Sure.

Okay.

Okay.

Okay, got it.

Thank you.

Dongyu,

there's news from the Qianhu District police station.

They said there is

an abandoned hotel in their district.

These days, Lei Naiwu's men

have been going in and out.

The lights are on in the hotel rooms.

They suspect the person we're looking for

is over there.

Let's go.

Get out.

You can leave now.

Gao Hu,

are you here to save me?

Lei Naiwu asked me to let you go.

He's willing to let me go?

You don't have to go.

Fine.

I'll go.

Let me ask you something.

It should be here.

You are...

Guan Dayong,

are you okay?

I'm fine.

We're just chatting.

Guan Dayong,

you can tell the truth.

With us here,

no one can coerce you.

Coerce?

No one coerced me.

Then why are you here?

Did someone imprison you?

I got drunk one night,

so I came

to my friend's place

to stay for a few days.

How do you explain the injuries

on your face?

I was drunk.

I fell down by accident.

Let me ask you again, Guan Dayong.

Are you sure

no one threatened you?

I'm sure.

I'm really fine.

Look, I'm fine.

I'm about to go home.

No one is stopping me, right?

We still hope

you can think it through.

If you don't say anything,

we can't help you with anything.

Thank you, officer.

I really don't

need your help.

I'm going home.

I hope we won't meet again.

Why didn't you

answer the phone these days?

You didn't reply to texts either.

I was in a bad mood.

I don't want to talk about it right now.

Chief Zheng.

You're back?

Chief Li.

Guan Dayong wasn't there?

He was,

but he wouldn't say anything.

Gao Yang was also there.

What was he doing there?

I think

Lei Naiwu told him to go

and free Guan Dayong.

How can Lei Naiwu

be so kind?

I wonder

what exactly

he is up to.

I’ve asked Zuo Minghao

to keep an eye on Guan Dayong.

Times like these,

we can’t let our guard down.

What did Gao Yang say?

He said...

Well, his words felt off.

I couldn't understand.

Chief Li,

what happened to Gao Yang?

Okay, I’m coming.

Keep an eye on Guan Dayong.

Guan,

I haven't seen you for days.

Where have you been?

Hello?

Hello, Boss.

You were right.

The police are following us.

That's right.

I want them to follow.

Okay, keep following.

Come up.

Jiadong,

I didn't say anything

to Lei Naiwu.

Don't worry.

Uncle Guan,

you...

You've been in our family for so many years.

Actually,

what you said

and how you said it

really isn't important

to me anymore.

By the way, Uncle Guan,

how long have you been in our family for?

Eleven years, three months and seven days.

It's been 11 years.

Then

how did my dad

treat you before he left?

We were like brothers

What about Xueying?

I treat her

like she is

my own daughter.

What about me?

It's even more so for you.

All the things between us

are in my heart.

Well...

We really are a family.

A family without blood ties.

Uncle Guan,

come here.

Look at this.

This was sent by the company account

to your personal account, right?

Chen Jingming wasn't on the mountain that day.

He was injured and couldn't go out.

Guan Dayong can testify.

That's why Lei Naiwu

kidnapped Guan Dayong.

If it wasn't Chen Jingming

on the mountain that day...

I'll help you

finish Lei Naiwu's case.

After that,

that's it for us.

What is this?

I found it

in Lei Naiwu's safe.

This too.

Is this your so-called "like brothers?"

Your so-called

"like your own daughter?"

And this is "all the things between us?"

Uncle Guan,

I also remember

all of your words and deeds in my heart.

I found these

on the company's account

the day after my dad passed away.

It's over 10 million in total.

Uncle Guan,

if I hand these materials

to the police,

you should know

what'll happen, right?

Do you really think

Lei Naiwu

let you go?

Uncle Guan,

I...

I'm just talking nonsense.

It's the lesser of two evils.

I really hope

that my brother abroad

has the chance to use your money.

You...

Understand what I mean, right?

I understand.

Uncle Guan,

take care. Stay safe.

By the way, Uncle Guan.

Do you want Mrs. Wang

to cook some noodles for you?

Don't hurt Ying.

She's your biological sister.

Uncle Guan.

Take care.

Stay safe.

Why?

Why are you killing me?

Because you tipped off the police,

we lost a big batch of goods.

Don't you understand?

They betrayed you.

Don't kill me.

Don't kill me.

Here. Stab here.

I told you to stab him!

Did you watch it?

Yes.

I trust Zheng.

I only believe what I see.

Gao Yang,

I know it’s hard

to calm you down now.

Master.

I guarantee I'll complete the task.

Boss,

where is the toilet?

In there.

Thank you.

Guan Dayong!

Dongyu,

Guan Dayong is gone.

You said Guan Dayong threw off the police?

And he went to the noddle shop

straight from the Chen family?

Yes.

I followed him the whole way.

He didn't go anywhere.

What do they want to do?

The time of death

was 3 to 4 A.M.

The cause was asphyxiation.

There are no signs of fighting or injuries,

other than the rope marks.

Thus, we believe

homicide is ruled out.

Thanks.

I've checked

nearby surveillance cameras.

Guan Dayong entered the park

at 2 A.M.

No one went in or out

before a passerby discovered his body.

Looks like it really was suicide.

By the way,

a suicide note was found in his phone.

[Suicide Note]

What do you think?

The timing is so strange.

Why didn't he do anything

when Chen Jingming

was arrested?

He had to plead guilty now

and then commit suicide.

I think it's like

he's a scapegoat.

The last person Guan Dayong saw

was Chen Jiadong.

Mr. Chen, someone is looking for you.

Thank you.

Jiadong.

Uncle Li?

There are updates

about your father's case.

I want to ask you about them.

Let's talk inside.

No need.

Let's talk here.

Yesterday,

Guan Dayong came to you

right away

after Lei Naiwu released him, right?

Did he say anything?

Uncle Li,

Guan... His situation...

This case

involves the case from back then,

so Jiadong,

please cooperate with us.

Understood.

Yesterday,

when Uncle Guan came back,

we had a meal

at home.

He said

he did a lot of bad things

with my dad these years.

He wanted to turn himself in.

Did he tell you

what exactly he did?

No.

This morning,

people exercising found Guan Dayong

committed suicide by hanging himself in the park.

Suicide?

Boss!

Boss!

Boss!

Boss!

What, did someone die?

Someone did die.

Guan Dayong died.

Who died?

Who?

Guan Dayong.

How did he die?

They said he

hung himself in the park.

Was it suicide?

Okay, you can go.

Uncle Lei, let's go to the bathhouse.

Chen Jiadong,

you're inhuman.

You killed Guan Dayong?

Give me your phone.

What?

Phone.

I opened an account overseas

with your name

and deposited 10 million in it.

This is the username and password.

When...

When everything is settled,

I'll give you

the last 10 million.

What do you want done?

Uncle Lei,

we have to resolve

what should be resolved.

Tomorrow night at 10 P.M.,

I've arranged a boat

to send you abroad.

After this is resolved,

I don't think you need to

stay in China

anymore, right?

What if I do it,

but you don't give it to me?

My sister and I are both here.

You're so smart.

So smart.

Fine.

If you lie to me,

I'll kill you.

And your sister.

How did the Chen family

produce someone like you?

You really are cruel.

Liu,

you need to do me another favor.

Chief Li, you're looking for me?

Close the door.

Your father's old stuff

are still at home, right?

Yes.

Last time, Gao Yang accompanied me back

and packed

my dad's stuff.

I remember when he

went on missions before,

he always recorded

the details of things.

I want to

take a look at his old notes.

Chief Li,

Gao Yang has been so acting strange these days.

Could it be related

to Zheng?

Say something.

Is it?

Let me show you something.

But remember,

you're a police officer,

instead of

watching it as someone's daughter.

After watching it,

think about what you should do

and how you could do it.

Watch it.

Why?

Why are you killing me?

Because you tipped off the police,

we lost a batch of goods.

Don't you understand?

They betrayed you.

Kill him.

I told you to stab him!

Don't you understand?

They betrayed you.

I see.

Gao Yang’s biological father

was working for Zheng,

which caused him to get killed.

So,

Gao Yang thinks

Zheng betrayed his father.

How could he think that?

Doesn't Gao Yang know

what kind of person Zheng is like?

How could he

make an arbitrary judgment

based on one video?

No, Chief Li.

It’s been such a long time

and it suddenly resurfaced.

There must be something wrong.

Where did this video come from?

Your thoughts are correct.

I don't know who sent this video

to Lei Naiwu.

[File Bag]

These are all the files

from Gao Jialing's case.

Since we all believe

that it was not Zheng,

it's even more important that we find the truth.

Don't worry.

I'll investigate right now.

[Balance]

[You have a new deposit of ten million dollars]

The informant that you

and my dad

killed at the Supply and Marketing that year

was Gao Hu's father.

Uncle Lei,

we have to resolve this problem.

[Linjiang Public Security Bureau]

Hello,

the subscriber you dialed is busy.

Hello,

the subscriber you dialed

is busy.

Hello, Chief Li.

I've arrived at the address

that you provided.

[It'll be daybreak after today]

Hello, Chief Li.

Gao Yang left a note.

He said it'll be daybreak after today.

Gao Yang and I just talked on the phone.

It’s time to close the net.

Conduct the arrest as planned.

Okay.
