and Im gonna always miss her,

looking at sweet little Phoebes
beautiful face...

You know, being with that
beautiful girl you adopted,

>> Zoe: These adoption papers
are for real?

I keep missing her at the
office, and I really want to do

Im really touched that youve
been there to support her and

care about her.

>> Ridge: I just want her to get
back on her feet.

Thatll happen eventually.

Im not sure you ever get past
losing a kid, but...

Eventually, shell find a way

Even if that means making her
place pretty, bringing flowers,

I just want to put more joy and
beauty back into her life.

>> Hope: It felt so natural,
rocking Phoebe, putting her to

sleep in her crib.

And I thought Id be doing that
with Beth.

I wanted that more than
anything, and Ill never get the

chance to do that.

So youd think that being with
Phoebe would make it more

painful, but, for some reason,
it doesnt.

>> Steffy: Thats good.

Im glad.

>> Hope: I mean, I admit, when
Im holding her, I do think

about Beth, but, I mean, it
doesnt hurt.

That constant crushing sense of
loss, its -- [ Chuckles ]

involvement in the adoption.

dressed now.

some privacy.

my fathers still paying rent on

this flat, and this is his key,
so I will be keeping it.

didnt.

Now, I would really, really just
like to get changed and get on

with my day.

Ive been worried about you.

You know, I dont think you
should be going back to your

dads flat alone.

>> Zoe: Flo was still there,

>> Xander: You confronted her

>> Zoe: Well, I actually caught
her coming out of the bath this

time.

I bet she wasnt too happy about
that.

>> Zoe: No, she wasnt.

Tried acting all high and mighty
about it, you know, as if I was

intruding, like it was her
place.

>> Xander: So, did you find out
anything new about her and your

dad?

>> Zoe: Did I ever.

>> Brooke: Phoebe is a beautiful
baby.

>> Ridge: I think so, but, then,
Im biased.

I mean, as a grandfather, I fell
in love with her the moment I

saw her.

>> Brooke: [ Chuckles ] She does
have that effect on everybody.

Its amazing how connected you
can feel to a new baby.

>> Ridge: Well, she picked the
right family, didnt she?

>> Brooke: Yeah.

This adoption has been a
blessing, for Phoebe and for

Kelly and Steffy.

But I cant help but think about
Hope and everything shes going

through.

Shes suffered a tragic loss.

But shes still getting up and
shes going to work and shes

getting involved with her line.

She even welcome Phoebe into the
family.

She just cant get rid of her
pain, and the only thing we can

do is be there for her and
support her and honor her loss.

And one thing I dont want -- I
hate even saying this -- but I

dont want Phoebes arrival to
take the place of the memory of

Beth.

>> Liam: Well, that didnt take
long, did it?

Miss Kelly needed a quick
change.

>> Hope: She looks happy now.

>> Liam: Yeah, she always does,
dont you, miss?

>> Hope: So does Phoebe.

>> Liam: Oh! Look!

>> Steffy: She loves Mr. Bunny.

Adoption papers.

any proof, but just the papers

and what Flo had told me,
supposedly she had a baby, and

gave her up for adoption.

>> Brooke: Okay.

Gosh! I cant stop fussing.

[ Sighs ] What was I thinking,
bringing these flowers down

here, thinking that any of this
would really make a difference.

>> Ridge: Hey, hey, hey, hey.

Were just doing whatever we can
to help.

>> Brooke: Yeah.

Yeah, I know, its just --
Its gonna take a little while.

>> Ridge: Okay?

>> Brooke: Yeah. Okay.

>> Ridge: The important thing is
that Liam and Hope both know

that we support them in whatever
they do.

still feel myself slip back into
that dark place, and I

appreciate what youre trying to
do, all the help and support,

but, really, so far, theres
only been one thing thats made

me feel any better.

Its like a full-time laundromat
around here.

Because, I mean, I try to help

Its also a nice bonding

I really appreciate you being
here for the girls, Liam.

Hope.

raising two girls.

Flos name wasnt the only name
on those papers.

I know its gonna sound crazy
because I didnt even really

know what I was looking.

You know, I just saw all this
legal stuff about the parental

rights and the minor child, and
then when I was trying to figure

it out, I saw the signature at
the bottom of the page.

And below that was a name.

And I couldnt even believe it.

I -- Honestly, it still doesnt
make sense.

>> Xander: What do you mean?

>> Zoe: Phoebe.

The baby is Phoebe.

>> Xander: Steffys Phoebe?

>> Zoe: Yes.

Steffy signed those adoption
papers, okay?

Somehow Flo, the woman living
in my fathers apartment,

is Phoebes biological mother.

>> Brooke: Phoebe makes you feel
better?

>> Hope: Yeah, holding her.

Holding her makes me feel
better.

You know, I was just over at
Steffys house with Liam.

He wanted to go see the babies,
and I asked if I could tag

along.

>> Brooke: Well, honey, if you
feel lonely here, you can always

come up to our house and hang
out with us.

>> Hope: No, Im --
I wanted to see Phoebe.

>> Brooke: Okay, but do you
think thats a smart idea?

I mean, you just said that you
might be slipping...

>> Hope: Not when Im with her.

I mean, when Im holding her in
my arms, all I feel is this --

this light and this wonder,
and I dont know if its because

I lost Beth, because of the
hormones and my body still

thinks that I had a baby, but I
can so clearly see how my life

was supposed to be.

Being a mom, at peace, getting
to take care of my little girl,

and...

You know, when I --
I feel all that when I look into

Phoebes eyes.

>> Steffy: I guess things with
Hope are still pretty intense.

>> Liam: Yeah.

she left?

She almost said "Beth," Liam.

But she caught herself.

She didnt.

[ Sighs ] Honestly, I --
I kind of thought that going

back to work would be the thing
that helps her, you know,

something positive to focus on,
but I should have known it

wouldnt be that simple.

Really, it wasnt until today,
you know, helping out with

Phoebe that she started to
seem...

stronger.

>> Steffy: Well, I meant what I
said.

I want her to heal.

I want her to be part of Phoebe
and Kellys lives.

>> Liam: I know.

I want that, too.

>> Steffy: I just think its a
little soon.

>> Liam: Well, you know, she got
emotional, but once she calmed

down, it was -- it was all
right.

>> Steffy: You think so?

>> Liam: [ Sighs ] I dont know.

I dont know what Im thinking.

Were both grieving right now.

I mean, nothing -- nothing is
the way that it was before,

and is Hope, you know,
psychologically coping by --

Like, is she transferring her
feelings for Beth onto Phoebe?

Maybe.

Maybe she is doing that, but
I dont think its anything

weird.

Its not like she thinks that
shes actually Phoebes mother.

But theres really complex
emotions going on in her head

right now...

>> Steffy: I get it. Thats --
Thats what concerns me.

You know, Im a mom now, and I
know what its like to lose a

child.

I feel for her, I really do.

I want to help.

>> Liam: Well, you have been.

I mean, you letting this happen,
its -- its a really big deal,

and I know Hope is really
grateful for it.

>> Steffy: I just think that
this attachment to Phoebe...

It isnt good long-term.

She talks about being stuck,
not being able to move forward,

and the only way to do that
is to deal with her loss.

>> Liam: I --
>> Steffy: She cant --

Come on, she cant use Phoebe as
a replacement for Beth.

>> Liam: I totally agree with
that, I do, but...

I mean, right now, in the
immediate, it is actually

helping her cope.

really lucky to have you in

their lives, right?

I mean, as a role model, as a
mentor, as a mother...

Phoebe didnt start out yours,
but, God, her life is gonna be
