Can you stop pretending?

You pretend that you don't care, but you do

You just suffer in silence

Why would you do that?

Dad, stop acting

Mum, you can stop acting, too

I know the whole thing

What acting? I don't know what you are talking about

Something's wrong between you, even Shujing can tell

Do you think you can hide it from me?

I can see the red thread binding you,

but there's a knot in it

I know something's wrong

Dad is sick, isn't he?

And it's not a minor ailment

I didn't know what to do,

so I called many hospitals and clinics...

to try to find out what happened

Yes, the patient has an appointment with us this Friday

Is there anything I can help you with?

Yeah, my father accidentally mixed up his medicine. Can you help me with it?

Then a doctor friend told me,

those were meds for pancreatic cancer

After knowing you're sick,

I understood everything

You go out early and come home late to avoid us

Aunt Mingzhu used to be a nurse,

so she can take care of you

And Mum,

Physician Ye told you the truth, didn't he?

I tried to hide it from you, but I failed

You obviously care about each other

Dad, you were worried about the shop and slipped me a cheque

Mum, you made soup and asked someone else to take it to Dad

How could I fail to notice?

The herbal soup smells so good. Is it for Dad?

No, it's for my friend

I'll make it for you next time

No wonder it tasted so familiar

I know you kept it from us because you didn't want us to worry

So I played along

I want you to know that...

I'll take care of our family

Don't worry. Have the surgery

It's useless

The doctor said it was terminal

The cancer has spread

Even if I have surgery, it won't do me any good

Feng...

I've been distant...

because I wanted you to get used to...

a life without me

We've been living together for more than three decades

How could I get used to a life without you?

I'm aware of my condition

I don't want to have the surgery and suffer at the end of my life

I don't want to linger on

No surgery then

We can try other treatments

No matter what, I'll be by your side

I won't let you face it alone

Kent

Working late?

We're watching the rushes...

for anyone suspicious

Have you found anything?

None so far, but we hope...

Sorry

Hello?

I'll be right there. Bye

Something came up. I'll be back soon. Keep watching

OK

Thanks for working overtime -It's OK

Have you found any clues?

We've just started. Nothing yet

Kent, I need to use the washroom -Go ahead

Kang, resume playback. I'll watch it for you

Mei, where are my shoes?

Let's take a lunch break. Be back at 1 pm, OK?

OK, just leave the stuff here. No one is in the office

I'm going for lunch. I'm hungry

She's putting on make-up. Wait for a bit

Excuse me, can you hang this for me? I'll get it later. OK, thanks

Come with me

Mr Zhang, you are one of Singapore's Top Ten CEOs at such a young age

How do you define success?

When talking about success,

many people think it means having the "three highs"

A high position, high income, and living on a high floor

But I don't think it should be defined by what you have

If you set a goal...

and achieve it with courage, capability and persistence,

that is success

He's charming on TV, too

Zhen Qing, Bro Yi's looking for you

What is it? -Zhen Qing, I...

Get up

I have something to ask you

Did you see anyone suspicious when you were filming in the office today?

Is it about the burglary?

Nope, everyone was working as usual

The people on site have been our colleagues for years

I have no idea who would do that

That's what I thought

Could it be...

Do you think this CEO played a trick on us?

Many in our audience would love to hear about your relationship

Could you tell us...

how you met your current girlfriend?

My love story is quite cheesy

I met my current girlfriend...

when we were in primary school

There was once we went to a camp...

and got lost in the forest

We'd been walking for a whole day

She couldn't stop crying, so I called her Crybaby

But after that, we lost contact

Until one day,

I realized that she was always by my side

She's a valuable helping hand at work

That's my current girlfriend, Carol

No!

I'm the girl who got lost with him in the forest,

not Carol

Are you serious? Then who's Carol?

Did Carol steal your story to date Charles?

Seriously?

This is outrageous! I have to ask him

-I'll go with you -Is it a misunderstanding?

That woman is really bad

Calm down. Maybe it's just a misunderstanding

Misunderstanding? I can prove I'm that girl

I'll get the proof now

Wait for me

One's life is just like everything in nature

It is ephemeral

So we have to accept it with an open mind...

and cherish what we have

Dear, thank you

The weather's so nice tonight

Now I know why you like to relax outside

We're getting old. It's tiring to go out

We have a tiny garden anyway

It's nice to chat and relax here

It'd be perfect...

if we had a bowl of hot soya bean curd right now

Seeing you like this,

just chatting away, no longer pretending,

I'm beyond happy for you

Don't worry

I've made a deal with your dad

No matter how hard it gets,

I'll stay with him till the end

We won't give up

Yeah, Dad, it's not just Mum,

you also have me,

Shujing, Bro,

and Dongpo Pork and Wuliu Fish

We'll stay with you and support you

I believe you and Mum will continue to live together for a long time

I appreciate that

I promise, I'll go see Physician Ye,

ask for his advice and try to do as he says

Where is it?

I saw your interview

I'm surprised you told the story about when we were kids

I think the fate that tied us together is incredible

It's worth sharing

What do you want to eat? -Four-eyes

Ms Zhen Qing, were you calling out to me?

Four-eyes, remember me?

I'm Crybaby

I was the little girl who got lost with you when we were little

I finally found you

Sorry, I don't quite get what you're talking about

Did you mistake him for someone else?

Do you remember this necklace?

I lost it in the forest when we were little. And you found it for me

Look, it's pretty

I lost that necklace

I can't believe you found it

What are you talking about? This is my necklace

I lost it when I was little

So you've had it all this time

Why did you keep it for so long?

Look, their story is more dramatic than a TV drama

Do you think the queen can beat the sly concubine?

Stop it

You liar! This is my necklace

Now that I think about it,

you don't happen to have my engagement ring, too?

Dear, I bumped into her when I left the washroom

When I went back for my ring, it was gone

What are you talking about?

I've had whatever I wanted since I was little

Why would I steal from others?

Don't slander me

I don't believe my staff would do such a thing

There must be some misunderstanding

Did you search everyone going in and out of this company?

That ring is very important to me

You have no right to search me. I didn't steal it

If it wasn't you, then you'd agree to the search

To be fair, search everybody

If you want to do it, do it quickly

We can't find Carol's ring

See? I told you. She's the liar, not me

But there's been a long interval between you leaving the office and now

You probably hid the ring somewhere,

or passed it to someone else

We don't have any proof now

She's innocent until proven guilty

Yes

Since we can't find it, forget it

It's late. Let's go

Wait

Don't you have lockers for artistes?

Search it

If you can't find the ring, it will prove you slandered me,

and you're a big liar

I want you to apologize in public

If we really can't find the ring, I'll apologize

Let me do the search

Wait

To be fair, can I do the search?

Anyone but you

But aside from me and Charles, you're among friends

I just don't want you touching my stuff

Let her do it

Bro Yi -It's OK

Go ahead

Be careful, those are expensive

Dear, it's my ring

How is that possible?

Are you sure it's yours?

Sure, my name is engraved on it

Why is the ring here?

I didn't take it

OMG. Then who's telling the truth?

Congrats, the plan worked like magic

You get enormous credit this time

If you hadn't put the ring in Zhen Qing's locker,

it wouldn't have gone so well

It was perfect

Did you solve the video problem?

Of course. Luckily, I was the one who spotted it

If Dingyi or Kang had seen it, our plan would've been exposed

Carol is useless

She couldn't even do such a small thing

Letting you find out she lied to Zhang Zhenghong was so stupid

So she had to help you set Dingyi up

But why did you help Carol frame Zhen Qing?

With Zhen Qing as the scapegoat,

Dingyi won't have to resign to protect everyone

If I hadn't stepped in, Zhen Qing would have exposed Carol

If the truth comes out, our plan will be ruined

From what I know about George, after this incident,

Yang Dingyi will no longer be trusted

He will know his place then

Carol would lie through her teeth to get that man

She did put in a lot of effort

Who do you think would win - Zhen Qing or Carol?

I don't care. That's none of my business

Let's just wait and see

Then we can expect a good show

Your Majesty, I've been wronged

I didn't take Her Majesty's ring. I wouldn't dare

The ring was found in your place

It's irrefutable evidence. You can't deny it

Your Majesty, I don't believe Concubine Qing stole Her Majesty's ring

Please get to the bottom of it

Are you saying I'm lying, Guard Yang?

I wouldn't dare

Your Majesty, it's clearly a set-up

No one saw me steal it

Your Majesty, you have to believe me

Since we've found the ring, I won't pursue the matter further

Concubine Qing will be banished to the Cold Palace...

to reflect on her mistakes

Guard Yang failed in his duty and let a burglary happen

He's demoted to third-grade guard

Thank you, Your Majesty

Your Majesty, don't banish me to the Cold Palace

I didn't do it

Eunuch Zhao, help me

Sorry, Concubine Qing, I can't help you

We have no way to help her

So dramatic. You have an active imagination

You should become a scriptwriter on the drama team

That's not dramatic

It's the right way to tell a story. And it's true

Did Zhenghong say anything?

About the same as what Xiao-mi said

He said since the ring was found, he didn't want to pursue the matter

But in order to show good faith,

George let Kent be the EP again

I'm demoted to producer

And she lost the endorsement contract

It makes me so angry

Why would I want her ring? I can buy my own

Besides, I was with Shuyu the whole time when we were filming

Sorry, I wasn't there last night

If I were there, I could have spoken up for you

But what upsets me the most is, that liar got away with it

She pretended to be me and took away my Four-eyes

So you were really the girl that got lost with Zhenghong back then?

Yes

I remember when we were little...

Don't cry

Don't cry

My mum said shoes are important

They can take you to your goals in life

So you shouldn't throw them away

Come on, Crybaby

Let me help you up

Crybaby, I found it

Thank you, Four-eyes

My grandma gave me this necklace

But she's in heaven now

Look, it's pretty

Yes, and it's special

After that, my dad moved his business abroad

My mum and I moved abroad with him

We didn't come back for many years

I regret not asking him his name

Actually, he's always been in my heart

I wanted to meet him again someday

If you're telling the truth,

then Carol was lying

But I've met Carol several times

She didn't seem like such a crafty girl

Yeah, and she's Mabel's cousin. I sort of know her

She isn't that kind of person

What does that mean? So you don't believe me?

I believe you. It's always like that in a TV drama

The one who looks kind must be the evil concubine

So Carol might be two-faced

She'd do anything to deceive Zhenghong and get what she wants

If she really is two-faced,

maybe she's wanted to set Zhen Qing up right from the start

We're being dragged down

I... You have to help me. Carol is a liar

If she marries Four-eyes,

Four-eyes will be heartbroken when he discovers the truth

Don't worry. If she's such a bad person, I won't let her have her way

Zhenghong's an old friend of mine after all

I don't want to see him hurt

Don't worry

With Guard Yang and Mama Yan here,

you'll defeat that evil concubine

Mama Yan?

Eunuch Xiao-mi, aren't you on my side?

Your Grace, please forgive me

I'm on your side, and I'll secretly help you

Sir, Ms Yan's here

Please sit -Thanks

Shuyu, you're here. Take a seat

You said on the phone you wanted to talk to me

Yes, it's about a matter

I'd love to chat with a friend,

but don't bother if you want to talk about the burglary

That's not what I want to talk about

I want to ask you about your relationship

About my relationship?

So you are here for Ms Zhen Qing

As an ex-girlfriend,

aren't you too concerned about your ex's current relationship?

And you came to my office to talk about it?

Are you teasing me?

I wouldn't dare

I don't think you came all the way here...

just to talk about my relationship

Then let's not beat around the bush

I don't think Carol would lie to me

I won't start doubting my girlfriend because of Zhen Qing's words

OK, let me ask you this

If Carol wasn't that little girl who got lost with you years ago,

would you have started dating her?

I think you need to figure out if that girl...

Dear

Hello, are you having a meeting?

No, I'm done

Since you're here, I should leave

Bye...

Are you going to see the car?

When are you going?

Are you all right?

I'm fine. Bye

Zhirong

Let's get married

Don't mind us. Carry on

I'll go make cakes in the kitchen

"The trees want to remain still, but the wind won't stop blowing

"The children want to take care of their parents,

"but the parents are gone"

I never thought I'd have to face such things so soon

That's life. You never know

What your dad needs now is his family's support and encouragement

But I can't accept your proposal now

Why? What concerns do you have?

I don't want to get married on an impulse

That's how we got married and divorced the first time

It's different now. I've wanted to propose to you for a long time

Come on, I know you too well

Be honest. Did you propose to me for your dad's sake?

I hear that if an elder gets sick,

having a wedding can chase away the bad luck

I really don't know what else I can do for my dad

I just want him to live out his last days happily

I know how you feel

But we can't get married because of that

How about I bring Ethan to your parents' this weekend?

Let's eat dinner together. Then we can decide what to do next

I really hope they can get back together...

and live as a family of three again

If Ethan knew, he'd be so happy

I'm sure he would

Do you think we'll make their wedding cake?

Is it too soon to talk about that?

Hello, what kind of cake do you want?

All your cakes look so delicious

Of course. Our cakes are all made by our pastry chef

We have all kinds of tasty flavours

I know

Let's talk outside

What's with the attitude? Am I embarrassing you?

Why are you here again?

I've been short of money. That's why I came to you

I don't have any money. Don't come to me anymore

You're a capable grown-up now, huh? How dare you talk to me like that?

I'm your dad

It's your duty as a daughter to support me

Is it wrong for me to ask you for some money?

I've given you a few grand

I don't have any more money. I really don't

You think you're superior because I'm begging you?

A few thousand is hardly enough. I'll beat you!

Stop!

Are you OK?

What do you want? -Are you OK?

How dare you come to Xiangting again!

You don't work and you ask her for money

You beat your wife and daughter when you were drunk

What kind of father are you?

That's none of your business. Want me to hit you?

You're hitting people in broad daylight?

I'll call the police if you dare

I'm outnumbered now,

but I'll be back

Outrageous

Thanks, Zhirong

Why didn't you tell me your father was harassing you again?

Yeah. Luckily, Anna told us to come take a look...

or you'd have had to give him money again

I was about to tell him...

that I wouldn't be used by him or give him money anymore, but...

It's OK now

You should tell us right away if anything happens

I was shocked when I got your call

I never thought the caveman would ask to meet me outside,

and in broad daylight

Jing-jing, don't be so quiet

A kite?

Is there a switch?

I thought you'd bring an electric kite,

or you know,

that thing that flies in the sky... a drone?

I just want to fly a kite

The caveman has emerged from his cave and wants to fly a kite?

Wait...

I just sat down

Why do you want to fly a kite all of a sudden?

It doesn't seem like your thing

The last thing I remember doing with my dad was flying a kite

Are you OK? Are you sick?

Why are you acting so strange?

I feel like I'm sick, too

It's the first time I felt stuffy in the cave...

and I wanted to come out for a walk

Did you hit your head?

Fever? Cold? Flu? Does your chest feel tight?

Is your heartrate normal? Do I need to take you to a doctor?

My dad is dying

Shujing, are you ready? We're about to start

One, two, three

You need to run. Run fast

Pull the string

Right, like this

The kite is flying so high -Yes

Yeah

Shujing, you're so good. Do it like this

Pull the string. Control it

Want to go eat something?

No, my appetite has been poor lately

Why?

I have no idea

I meant, why am I acting like this?

Why am I not staying at home and playing video games?

Why am I here? Why am I out here?

Why am I acting so strange?

Why...

Don't be afraid

It's normal for you to act like this...

because you know Uncle is sick

You feel sad and upset,

and you don't know how to deal with your feelings

Since you're willing to leave your cave now,

you should spend more time with Uncle

Didn't you say you want to eat something? I'm feeling peckish

Let's go

Grandma

Ethan -Auntie Feng

Mum, we're back -There you are

Look what I bought you

For me? -Yeah

Open it

It's so comfortable

Bring it in here

Look what else we got you

You shouldn't have

You've been sleeping on the old one for more than 20 years

It's about time it was changed

Shuze wants you to sleep better

Look, this is the latest style

Yeah

Thanks. That's really nice of you

What?

I don't believe this! What are you doing here?

What's your problem? -Are you sick?

Uncle Shujing, let's play a game

Let's play after dinner. I'm busy cooking now

Play with me -Be good, Ethan

Ethan, come on, let's play with grandpa

Jing-jing, get me the oyster sauce

Oyster sauce? This one

Here

Open it for me

Fine, I'll open it for you

Help her marinate the meat

I'll chop the vegetables

Grandpa -Good boy

What are you writing?

"When a family is in harmony, it brings prosperity in everything"

Is the next line "If you study hard, you'll stand out among your peers"?

Not bad. He remembers -Of course

Auntie Shuyu, your writing is pretty

Sure, definitely prettier than your daddy's

No way

What do you mean?

Since we were little, when be it writing couplets,

reciting poems or idioms,

Dad has always praised me, not you

"A prodigy may grow up to be ordinary"

Let's have a contest today

Why should I be afraid of my defeated opponent? Bring it on

"Pride goes before a fall." I'll show you who's superior

You're too old to be bickering with your sister

Grandpa, I want to learn it

Sure, Grandpa can show you. Here

OK, first lesson in calligraphy. We have to learn the character "yong"

The character "yong". How about this?

Let's play idiom solitaire and see who loses first

Sure -I go first.

"Bathe in a river of love forever"

"A lioness's roar"

Roar?

Homonyms are fine, too

"A rich man's mansion is difficult to access"

Dad, it's not fair

"A sea is formed by many rivers"

"The stream never stops"

I got this! "The stream never stops". CDEFG

Shuze, you taught him that?

It must be you

HIJK

Let's eat

Let's eat...

-You love this. Have some more -Thanks. I can serve myself

Ethan, have some meat

Why do the vegetables look strange today?

They were chopped by Yan Shujing, obviously

Mum, how was your apprentice today? Are you satisfied?

At least I helped, unlike you

I bought the roast duck

I sliced the tofu

OK, I know you worked hard today

Here, this is for you

Mum, that's not fair -Thanks, Mum

Yeah

It's only right...

the older siblings let the younger siblings have the best of everything

It's only because the older ones are generous

Auntie Shuyu, you can have it

Our teacher said "sharing is caring"

You're the best

See? Even my son is more mature than you

A family should share

"To share bliss and face misfortune together"

My lady, how about I share this with you?

Sure

Dad, have some vegetables

Dad, have some meat

See how good they are to you?

Yeah

The simplest bliss in the world is eating with the whole family

Of all people, why did we become family?

Because we're all connected somehow

Everything is destined

So we're destined to know each other and love each other,

to support each other and keep each other company

I feel blessed, because I have you as my family

Everything is so wonderful

Haven't you watched it already? Why are you watching it again?

Now that we know Carol might be bad, I'm watching it again...

to see if there's anything we missed

Are you looking for me?

Yes, I went to see Zhenghong and met Carol the other day

I didn't see a red thread binding them

I wonder if Carol is lying to Zhenghong and doesn't really love him

This woman really is hiding something

What's worse, they're getting engaged today

How do you know that?

I got their invitation

They invited me to their engagement party

What should we do?

We have no proof. We can't go to Zhenghong like this

He won't believe us

I've found the proof. Look

Mei accidentally recorded it

Can we use it to prove that Carol was the thief and framed us?

Let's go to Zhenghong and expose Carol

You guys keep watching the rushes. Tell me right away if you find anything

OK -Give it back

Hurry

It's here

Be careful

Those three are troublemakers. Stop them for me

Sure, no problem

Hello?

Excuse me, this is a private event. You're not allowed in

We were invited -I have the invitation

She has it

Don't let them come in. They're not welcome

You big fat liar. I'm here to expose you today

I won't let you get close to Charles

Go away. What are you doing?

You can't take my phone

It's useless. I've sent the video to Four-eyes

Do you think, as his fiancée, I won't have the chance to delete it?

There's no point trying to delete it. You can't unlock my phone

That's OK. I can destroy it

Be careful. Calm down

Be careful

Shuyu

Shuyu

Shuyu -Get her

Stop -Shuyu, are you OK?

I'm OK. Go help Zhen Qing

Shuyu

Shuyu, what's wrong?

Help!

Shuyu!
