who’s there through all the hard stuff

\hLast week, Allen visited Khelsi’s family in Georgia.

- Hey, everybody. \h- There he is.

- Hi, how are you? - Good to see you.

\h\hAllen: It’s always fun to spend time with Khelsi,

and it was really great \h\hto meet her family.

- So when we gonna go ride horses? - Whenever you’re ready.

\h\hKhelsi: I am falling for everything about him.

Jennifer: Now he’s traveled \h\h\h\h\h\h\hcross country

\h\h\h\h\hto see Rebecca in Moorpark, California.

Allen: I’m really excited \h\h\h\h\hto see Rebecca,

\h\h\hIt’ll also be nice to kind of get a picture

of what her life looks like.

\hRebecca is used to the lifestyle.

\h\h\h\h\hShe’s more of slow-paced type personand would rather take things \h\h\h\ha little bit slower.

And, you know, I see a lot \h\hof similarities there, \h\h\h\h\hand I like that.

\h\h\h\h\h\h\h\hRebecca: I’m really excited to see \h\h\h\hAllen on my turf.

I really want Allen to see \h\h\hwhat I would give up

in order to make it work \h\h\h\h\h\h\h\hwith him.

\h\hI’m looking to gain a better understanding \h\h\h\hof who she is,

and, you know, ultimately, \h\h\hone way or the other,

- So where do you live? - Southern middle Tennessee.- Okay, Tennessee. - Yep.

I’m just curious, what type \hof life would your wife--

\hAllen: I guess for me, it’s as much or as little

as they wanna do around the farm,

\h\h\h\h\h\h\h\h\hyou know, or start your own business.

What about dressage back there? Is that very big?

I don’t really know a whole lot about that world.

\h\h’Cause, you know, Rebecca, that’s a big part of her life.

- Sure. - She earns a living training horses, she rides horses.

\h\h\h\h\h\hMay I ask you, have you ever been married?

- Yes, ma’am. Yep. So... - How long did that last?

I was married nearly four years.

- Four years? - Yep.

\h\h\h\hThey did ask some hard questions,

\hand I’m actually not one to talk about myself a lot,

so my nerves were a little on edge.

When you’re in a relationship, \h\h\h\h\h\h\h\hwhat attributes \h\h\h\h\hare you looking for?

\h\h\h\h\h\hIf you think about the perfect girl in your head,

\h\hAllen: I’ve had some scary moments in my life,

but this is really tough.

I feel it’s more intimate.

\hEveryone’s telling me to be more vulnerable,

and be more open.

As I’m trying to do that,

who has grabbed at my heart.

all of those things have kind of just have been telling me

Ryan: She’s gentle and she makes me feel a lot deeper.

And that’s the scary part.

I know that I’ve put up \h\ha defense mechanism

when things have gotten really \hvulnerable and really close,

and I’ve learned that through \h\h\hthis process for sure.

Haley also lives in New York, \h\h\h\h\h\h\hso being here,

I have to take the opportunity \h\h\h\h\h\hto try to see her.

I wanna see if there’s anything \hleft that can be rekindled.

\h\h\hI’m kind of hoping that she gives me a shot \h\h\h\hof talking to her

- about leaving everything that she’s built here... - You know--

\h\hThat’s something that is-- that’s been really heavy on me \h\h\h\h\h\h\hfrom square one.

\h\h\h\hBecause, um, what I don’t wanna do

is waste anybody’s time, \h\h\h\hincluding my own,

\h\h\h\hand then have, \hyou know, it just not work out kind of thing.

\h\hThe people I met today were kind of about what I expected.

\h\hYou know, it’s very obvious they care a lot about Rebecca,

and I think that says something about her as a person.\h\h\h\h\hI felt like it went really well.

I think he’s really \h\hwell-grounded.

He’s a good guy. Yeah. \hAnd Marie likes him?

If I was 20 years younger, \h\hI would like him a lot.

\h\hI think a lot of people would probably find it hard

if they are watching the person they’re supposed to be dating

- date somebody else. - Yeah.

so that I don’t get hurt \h\hthrough this process.

Oh, well, I don’t like that he is in Tennessee

It’s almost impossible \h\hto make a decision

\h\h\h\h\hto move five horses and a whole career and a life \h\h\h\h\hacross the country.

Had that instant connection.

and then she’s not in some ways and you are in those ways.

\h\h’cause the Allen that I get one-on-one

is definitely a lot better

\h\h\hthan the Allen with everybody else.

- This decision is tough... - Yeah.

\h\h\h\h...because you are very two different people,

and I like two different people, you know what I’m saying?

- Yeah, yeah. - It’s hard for me to sort out what’s best for me, you, her.

Rebecca is different than Khelsi in the aspect that

\h\h\h\h\hRebecca is used to the lifestyle, a hard worker.

And Khelsi is really fun \h\h\h\h\h\hto be around.\h\h\hShe and I connect on a really deep level.

But, you know, I think that \hshe has a little trouble \h\h\hwith this lifestyle.

I was hoping the more time \hI spent with both of them

\h\hthe easier my decision would be one way or other,

but they’re just beautiful \h\hpeople inside and out.

\h\h\h\h\h\hAnd the more time I spend with them, the harder \h\h\h\h\hthe decision gets.

Family’s very important to me.

My mother and my friends,

So that’s why I asked them \h\h\h\hto be here with me,

and he probably feels a little overwhelmed,

but that’s part of the process.

He’s really nice.

\h\h\h\h\h\h\h\hI hit him with some hard questions,

like is he in love?

\h\h\hYou asked him if he was in love?

\h\hI mean, he did take a brief pause, but it wasn’t a bad one.

- I needed to know. - Is he in love after--

I think he’s falling for you. \h\h\h\h\h\h\h\hI really do.

How do you feel knowing that?

\h\h\h\h\hI mean, it’s good. I know that there’s feelings \h\h\hand connections there,

but also I’m still competing \h\h\hwith one other person.

It’s not really a competition,

\h\h\hbut it’s still hard \h\h\hthat you’re putting your whole world to him.

- And there may be another. - And there may be another.Love is very scary.

\hLove is something that you put your whole heart into it,

\h\hand that’s kind of where I’ve been burned in the past.

And before I put my full heart \h\h\h\h\h\h\h\hinto something,

I like that little bit \h\h\h\hof reassurance.

You can love and you know \h\h\hhow you’re feeling,

\h\h\hbut you don’t know how the other person is feeling.

\hI’m trying to figure out right now if our connection

is real enough, strong enough, \h\h\h\hfor me to sacrifice...

New York is definitely home,

and leaving the life I’ve built

\h\h\hthere’s a ton of sacrifice there.

My connection with Ryan,

\h\h\h\h\h\h\hI feel like there is chemistry there,

but I think I need \h\h\hto figure out

if that connection \his strong enough.

I wanna start building \hmy life with someone,

um, but not just anybody.

\hI want it to be the right person,

and I’m not willing to, \h\h\h\h\hyou know, um,

\h\h\hlower my standards for really anyone at this \h\h\h\hpoint in my life.

Y’all have seen that \h\hif you’re in love

- and you wanna sacrifice for somebody... - You can make it work.

if our connection is worth \h\hthat sacrifice for me.

a decision has to be made, and time is of the essence.

So I definitely have \hsome thinking to do

and some choices need to be made.

\h\hafter realizing he made a mistake sending her home

and has yet to hear back.

\h\h\hRyan: Being here, my mind and my heart’s \h\hbeen on Haley a lot

\hbecause ever since the moment she left,

I’ve kind of felt that it was \ha bad decision on my part.

So with Sarah with an H,

I almost am still somewhat unsure.Going into meeting her,

\hI have to think on, you know, how I feel,

and, you know, how deep \h\hthose feelings are and that connection is.

And I think being around her \h\h\h\h\hwill kind of answer \h\h\h\hsome of those things.
