- [Becca Voiceover] Now that we were almost ready

to leave the island, the only thing left to do

was load up the ship.

It was very important for us to be completely prepared

for the long and maybe dangerous trip to Australia.

(grunting hard)

- Pull Tommy!

That's it.

Yes, that's it boy, we did it!

- [Tommy] Shall I tie off this side as you are doing?

- [Morton] Yes Tommy.

- Do you think I should start loading up the ship now?

- Yes, you should.

Fetch some fresh fruits since Mrs. Robinson has already

prepared most of the other food alright?

- [Tommy] I'll be back soon.

- [Fritz] Father, would you like some help?

- [Father] No thanks, I believe I'm finished.

Hmm, there's more here than I expected.

- [Mother] Becca will you help me please?

- [Becca] Sure.

Does this all stay here?

- Yes.

The things we're taking are outside.

- Well since no one will be using those things anymore;

what's the use of organizing them?

- I'll just feel better knowing that we've

left everything in some sort of order.

- Well I believe I've finished down there.

Now does everyone have everything they'll need to take?

- I have my things.

- Yeah, so do I.

- Okay, so everything that's down there will be taken,

right?

- [Mother] That's right.

- Oh Fritz, you're not taking your harp?

- No, I'll leave it.

- [Father] All right.

And you, aren't you taking your pebble collection?

- No I'm not daddy.

- Well now, what's the matter with you both?

I thought these were your treasured belongings.

- Yes, but to make more room for the animals,

I'll leave mine behind.

- And I'm taking Mercedes instead of my pebbles.

- And since we'll have to take feed for them as well

Jack and I decided to take as few things as possible.

- I see.

- Oh, are you sure about that Jack?

- Mmhmm, as long as I have Mercedes.

- Okay.

- Than I'll leave these things too.

- [Mother] Oh.

But isn't that...

- Oh, Becca,

those are the presents you got on your birthday;

aren't they?

- Yes, but since I insisted that we take the goats...

- Oh nonsense, that's got sentimental value.

- But, even Jack is leaving his pebbles.

- Please take it Becca, its got the little rock

I gave you.

- That's right, its got all the presents we either found

or made, it must be very special to you.

- Oh!

- [Father] That doll is from me, Becca.

- Oh, thank you, it's beautiful!

And this...

- [Fritz] That's mine, it's a necklace, put it on.

- Hey that's real pretty.

- It is.

- [Father] You look beautiful Becca.

- It's lovely, thank you Fritz.

- [Jack] The little one is mine.

- [Becca] Oh my! It's beautiful Jack!

- Well, I searched for a very very long time.

- May I see it Becca?

This stone is a very special gift Becca,

you should treasure it.

- I sure will, thank you Jack.

- And I made that purse we put your presents in

as a gift for you.

- [Becca] Oh Mother, it's lovely.

- Well I'm glad you like it.

- And it certainly becomes you.

- Thank you mother it's beautiful.

And thank you everyone.

(applause)

- I really think you should take those gifts Becca.

It would make everyone happy.

- Thank you.

Oh I know, I'll eat less so I don't weigh so much!

- Oh you shouldn't promise the impossible.

- Oh, Fritz, that's not nice!

(all laugh)

- Well I think that's enough fruit.

- I brought this.

- And what is that?

- [Tom Tom] It is honey.

- Mmm, well done Tommy.

Of course you know honey is very nutritious.

And we must hide it well to keep it away from the Robinsons.

- But I brought it so everyone can enjoy some.

- Don't worry, just do as I say.

Keep it well hidden and not a word to anyone, all right.

- [Becca Voiceover] Maybe it was my imagination,

but as night time came the island seemed to be more peaceful

and beautiful than ever before.

- Okay, now.

All we need to do tomorrow is to get ourselves

and the animals on board.

- I can't believe it's happening, I can hardly wait.

- Isn't it wonderful Ernest?

- All this is possible thanks to Mr. Morton.

- I know.

What if we throw a going away party for everyone;

what do you think?

- Good idea.

- Mr. Morton and Tom Tom can come to our house to celebrate.

- To tell the truth we really shouldn't be

celebrating at all.

The voyage we're about to make is very dangerous,

there's no telling what might happen.

We'll be lucky if we see land again.

So with that in mind, I think it would be a very good idea

if we all go to bed early and get a good nights sleep.

- I think Mr. Morton is right.

- So now I think it's best if everybody goes

and gets some rest.

We'll leave the island very early in the morning,

we'll start when the sun is over that palm tree.

And everyone, try not to be tardy.

- We won't.

- Mr. Morton, you better not oversleep.

- Yes we can't set sail without a captain.

- Don't worry about me, when it comes to manning a ship

I take it very seriously.

Come on Tommy.

- [Father] We'll see you tomorrow than Mr. Morton.

- Fine.

- I would like to take a walk before I go back

to the tree house tonight.

- Yes dear, and I'd like to visit the graves again.

- And I have to say goodbye to the donkey.

(dog wails)

- Our family has received your protection, Lord,

from so many dangers.

As we go, we remember these men who did not survive.

The captains bravery will never be forgotten.

- Mr. Eric Bates, if I come across someone who knows of you

and your journey, I will tell them of your fate.

- Goodbye dear donkey, I wish that you could still be alive

to come to Australia with us, but in our hearts

you'll always be remembered.

- [Becca Voiceover] Once we said our final goodbyes,

we headed back to the tree house for a good nights rest

before our long voyage.

- I can't believe the time has finally come.

We'll never sleep here again.

- I wonder just how long we've been on this island.

- Oh I'd say it's been more than a year, not counting

the time that we spent in the cavern.

- It was a long time.

- To me it seems like just yesterday,

remember when we made it to this island on that raft

we built?

- Boy do I, I thought we wouldn't make it, I guess it hasn't

been that long.

- Well I feel like I've been living here all of my life.

- Well almost, Jack.

(laughing)

- What's the matter, are you alright?

- I keep waking up; what about you?

- I can't go back to sleep, I'm too anxious.

- I can't keep my eyes closed.

- I know what you mean.

- We're all somewhat excited.

- Yes, and I've been a bit nervous as well.

- Me too.

Are you nervous too Mercedes?

- Well it's still pitch dark outside.

- Yes, you're right, it's too early to get started.

- But I just can't seem to fall asleep, father.

- I can't either Daddy.

- Okay then, let's do something that will relax us.

One last chance to enjoy the island.

- [Both Children] Good idea, yay!

- Then let's get to it, we don't have much time.

- [Both Children] Hurray, come on!

- Since this is the last breakfast we'll be having

on the island, I think it should all be fresh.

(out of tune chord)

- I'll play one last time.

- Come on, you must eat plenty of green grass.

- I better put these back.

- It's a small garden but it was able to produce well.

All these weeds, it's a shame we had to neglect it

all the time the boat was being built.

What am I doing,

weeding the garden even though we'll be leaving.

Oh well, it's always been peaceful spending time

in the garden.

- Hmm...

I would hate to leave it like this,

it could be very dangerous.

- This will be the last sunrise that I see here.

- Even though I'm glad we're leaving

I'm sure going to miss this beautiful island.

(snoring)

- Mr. Morton, Mr. Morton.

- Ah, cut it out Tommy.

- Yes, but...

It is daytime.

- What do you want me to do about it?

Why did you wake me?

- We have to set sail today, remember.

- Ah yes.

I guess I overslept and I promised I wouldn't.

Why didn't you wake me up earlier?

- I've been trying to but you wouldn't wake up.

- There's no one here, it could be they're already

waiting for us on the beach.

- [Tom Tom] They're not here either.

- Hmm, I wonder where in the world they could be.

- They'll probably be here soon, it's still early.

- Well I certainly hope so, this is very important,

they should have made an effort to be here earlier

than necessary.

I thought Dr. Robinson was a man of his word.

I guess I was wrong.

(shell harp playing)

- Grrr what could they be doing?

If they don't get here soon,

I'm going to leave without them.

- I will look for them.

- Bunch of land lovers!

- Mrs. Robinson!

- Good morning Tom Tom.

- We have to get going.

We're ready to sail now!

- What? Mr. Morton's already there?

Come on let's get the others.

We mustn't keep Mr. Morton waiting.

Ernest! Fritz!

Come on along Beckah, hurry, you too Jack!

Ernest! Ernest are you up there?

- [Father] No, Anna, I'm in here.

- What in the world?

- What's the matter Anna?

- I should be asking you that, what are you doing?

- Since the ladder was damaged I fixed it.

And why is that funny?

- Well dear, since we won't be here any longer,

what's the use in fixing it?

- I know it's silly, but I'll just feel better knowing

that it's fixed.

- [Mother] I know what you mean.

I've just been pulling weeds in the garden.

- I see, you shouldn't laugh at me than.

- It's true what they say, like husband like wife.

- Excuse me.

- Oh my dear, I've forgotten, Mr. Morton's been waiting

for us.

- What?

It's that time already?

- [Jack] Bye bye tree house.

- We're actually leaving this home and I'll miss it.

- We should feel grateful to it.

- Huh?

What's father doing?

- [Mother] I don't know.

What is that you have there?

- [Father] A notice.

- What does it say dad?

- [Fritz] In reference to this house:

Ernest Robinson, a doctor and citizen of Switzerland,

along with his family hereby relinquish ownership as they

leave for Australia.

Whomever comes ashore from this day forward,

may use it freely for as long as they need.

- That's a good idea.

There was Mr. Bates, us, Mr. Morton and Tom Tom,

and over the course of time there's likely to be some others

as well.

Future castaways won't arrive to emptiness as we did.

- We're finished here now, we must go.

Make sure you have everything.

- [Fritz] Okay father.

Come on Jack.

- Becca, come on.

- Coming!

- May I ask what you were praying for?

- I asked God to please keep the tree house safe even if

the volcano does erupt.

- Oh really?

Well I think we're ready.

- Ah Mercedes! Mercedes you come back here!

- What's the matter with her?

- Maybe she's also saying goodbye to it.

- [Becca] Here she comes.

- [Jack] Mercedes!

Hey let's go now.

- Come on Mr. Morton has been waiting now

for some time.

- You chickens better keep up or you'll get lost.

Goodbye my beautiful house.

(somber piano music)

- [Voiceover] As our boat sailed out to see,

we all knew that we would miss our island home after living

there so long.

- Goodbye!

- We will miss you!

- Goodbye island!

- Goodbye take good care don't erupt volcano!

- You act like you're leaving your homeland, not an island.

- I am.

Goodbye mountains, valleys, forest streams,

goodbye my beautiful tree house.

So long scary jackals and wolves!

- Ha, mmm mmm mmm.

- [Voiceover] I should have been happy because we were

finally getting off the island but I was kind of sad

because I knew that I would never see it again.
