Protect us?

I'm in charge of this case.

I won't let anything untoward happen.

This is your final order.

Yes, sir!

Let's go.

61 minutes before Panther Duen due in court

What are you doing?

I guess I want to document it.

Human memories are too complicated.

As time passes, you may deceive yourself.

What is recorded is reality.

Sometimes it's not bad to cheat yourself.

At least you can forget the sad stuff.

Don't make things so complicated.

I've forgotten many things...

even my mom's birthday.

Cheating myself is something that I do well.

When you lie long enough, you start believing your own lies.

Did you ever regret being an undercover cop?

Two words: only once.

We snipers hope only a single shot will do.

Are you okay?

Ready.

What the hell?

Hands up!

- Freeze! - Freeze!

We've been screwed!

- Madam! - What?

We've fallen into Han's trap.

- Run! - Roger.

- Nobody's here? - Definitely not.

The real police Van's near the court by now.

Why didn't you tell us? We're not playing games here!

Calm down! Calm down!

Attention. Attention.

A police van patrolling Central has been sacked.

All the police officers and firearms are missing.

- Roger. Out. - Alpha team rolling.

Move. Move out, A Team. Get on the car.

Where are they going?

You punks!

Calling all cars.

The missing police van and firearms are still missing.

B team watch out. Get ready for action.

What's happening out there?

Sir, the police van and many dead officers are there.

See what's happening.

Don't be scared. Don't move.

- Calm down. - Don't hurry.

Take it easy.

You cover me!

Stay calm!

Please don't!

No, please don't!

Mission failed Panther Duen missing

Sir, please comment!

- What's your next move? - Was it an inside job?

Will this case be passed on to Interpol agents?

The Panther case is not over yet.

I have no say in what you do now, but if you step over the line...

you'll be arrested.

Veiled Strength, Hidden Power

Are you okay, boss?

Isn't that the car provided for our guests? It's a mess!

Those sons of bitches!

- Long! - Yes.

You take care of these goddamn punks.

And no matter what, don't let them drive!

- Understand? - Sure.

He's a good dog.

That's Friday. He's retired. Some bank robber shot him.

I'm gonna join him in retirement...

in five days' time.

The head of the international triad group Panther Duen...

was abducted en route to his court appearance--

We want to hear that!

A cop should be more polite.

You should at least call me "Uncle."

My name's Kong Long. I'm your senior.

But you can just call me Long.

Please turn on the radio, Long.

...more news later.

The HK Police had so many casualties, and you don't care about it?

Some colleagues died, and others will take their place.

Try to remember, we're the law.

We can't become thugs just because we'd like to get some payback.

We defend what's right, but it must be done the right way.

There's a pub near your place that's open 24 hours.

Call me anytime, no problem.

Morning.

Brother.

What are you doing here?

That's a big case you're on.

I've brought you something.

Who ambushed you guys?

I've told you many times-- do your best.

Come and eat.

Don't worry about me.

I'm used to being here all these years.

You still have a chance.

You gotta do your best. Uphold the family name.

Understand, Lok?

Sure. Now eat something.

The Tiger Licks His Wounds

Come on, aim!

Aim! Aim!

No money, no ammo.

You're a sharpshooter.

Check out those kids.

Looks like they need backup.

Can I try it?

A lefty sharpshooter, indeed.

I admire you.

You're great!

This is marksmanship.

I learned to shoot on the move. I'm not used to standing still.

Relax. The fun is just beginning.

Let me borrow the gun.

Allow me to finish this.

- Thanks. - Our sniper's the big winner here.

I feel...

...we make a good team.

They're well organized,

obviously not just a local triad group.

They use military tactics.

I'm sure the sniper is female.

I hacked into HK Police records.

Apart from the sniper's weapon,

their guns are those used by local police.

One officer was stabbed to death with a knife.

They're quite an assault team.

How would Tiger get such a powerful group?

Guys, I think...

we're gonna have to flush them out.

I know what you're thinking.

Let's go to Tiger's place and take a look.

This is it.

Do you know how much they earn from this street?

Drugs, gambling, prostitution-- on the street and underground...

$10 million a day.

It looks like they're closing up kind of early.

This is primetime. They shouldn't be shutting things down.

Unless their boss was in trouble.

Which means Panther wasn't rescued...

but captured.

So, Long...

tell us what you think.

This is a great location.

Somebody wanted to rent it.

We'll close the deal in two days‘ time.

Make your decision, or I can't help you anymore.

Yuet. Sarge.

Open his eyes.

Ko...'?

My brother will give you your money back!

Let me go...

I never owed anyone.

And I don't like...to be owed.

I'll give you everything back! Please let me go...

Do it.

I want to see Tiger Duen.

What do you want with the boss?

It's Panther's ear!

Tell Tiger that his old buddy came by. He knows what I want.

- Ching? - Tiger?

Send me some SMs. I gotta work.

Got it.

How are you doing?

I'm fine. Don't worry.

I've been busy lately. I'll come to see you soon.

- Okay. - Be careful.

Some colleagues say Long walks his dog here every day.

Searching for a wise man.

That Long has such an odd character. I'm afraid he won't help us.

Don't worry. Asking for help is easier for women.

I'll handle it.

I want to know something about you HK cops.

About what?

For example...

do you need permission before you date a colleague?

And have you ever fallen in love with your partner during a case?

I did worse than that.

I fell in love with my target when I was undercover.

Can you believe that?

Thank you, come again.

Pretty girl.

He's still pretty young at heart.

What's the matter, sir?

Where's your boss?

Hasn't come? Don't you know me?

Kong, sir.

Need some help?

It's fine. Everyone has hard times.

I'll help you now, then you help me.

- I don't like your attitude. - Hey!

What are you doing here?

- Village boy! - Shut up, ass-wipe!

I'm afraid I can't speak well. You talk with them.

Come on!

Suet!

You wanna kill someone?

Watch out!

Wait!

Please!

- Thank you. - Thank you.

You're welcome.

Honestly, you should thank him.

I don't need your help.

I don't need your help!

I still care.

Care?

Why didn't you care about Mom and me before?

I had so much work--

You always have so many excuses. Your work's so important, isn't it?

You didn't even see Mom before she died!

So many lives depended on me! I was the commander!

I had to be responsible!

You only care for your colleagues. Go to them now!

Why come to me?

I know I was wrong.

Can't you give me one more chance?

I didn't need your help before.

Not now...

or in the future!

I don't want a father like you!

I'll do what I promised.

Based on the way they acted, I'm sure they're special agents.

They break every rule, and it's hard to deal with them.

You won't find them using normal methods.

They're probably hiding in the city as normal citizens

and planning their next move.

Panther is the deputy. He has no real power.

I don't think he's their target. It's his brother, Tiger Duen.

Which means if we get to Tiger Duen, we'll find the agents as well.

He has four special bodyguards with him.

They're known as the Power Four.

You gotta put them under surveillance.

Look.

Name: Yau Ching Ex-lover of Tiger Duen

Hostess of Kingland Nightclub.

Position: Driver, Transportation Department, Central Division

Former sergeant of special crime unit,

department head of Hong Sun in Wan Chi district

Reason for demotion:

Refusal to follow orders during ASAA Bank robbery...

...causing deaths of six police officers

Kong Long.

Ko.

You're still fast.

Faster every day.

I knew you'd come to find me.

Do you know why?

My face still burns.

Art of War

Oh, it's you again.

Yau Ching

Ching.

- Wah. - Going home? Come with me.

- Yeah, come with Wah. - I have to go.

You bitch, don't get stuck up. Get in.

You think you're so goddamn special? No, Wah.

- Busybody? - No, Wah!

Fight back?

No, Wah!

Ching, stay away.

- It's my fault. - Stand still.

No, Wah!

Don't move!

- Cops! Run, Wah. - No, Wah!

Burnt offerings to the dead

Why come to see me so late?

Tiger Duen.

We businessmen should pay back what we owe.

This is for your dead comrades.

And this is for you.

You owe a lot more than this.

Bat.

Businessmen should have credit.

This is for my brother's ear.

Do you think you can get all the money

while you still have my brother?

Ko, either take it and let my brother go...

or I'll kill you.

Perhaps you'll decide to pay it...

if we make you cry

in despair!

For you.

Soy sauce?

- Freeze! - Freeze!

Don't go!

Get after him!

Take the gun!

Shoot!

Shoot him!

I've no time to play with you.

No, Tiger!

Drop the gun!

- Freeze! - Shoot me!

- Drop your guns! - Shoot me!

Police! Freeze!

The two of you...

drop the gun!

Drop your guns!

Raise your hands!

Can't you give them one more chance?

Remember how your colleagues died?

It's because you didn't follow the orders

- and wait for backup. - That was my fault.

These other guys--

I'm sure they're Ko's agents.

I know.

I know how to deal with him.

Hong, don't fool yourself again.

Don't sacrifice your men for the sake of fame.

Work with the other departments.

Listen to me.

Give yourself a chance, and those kids.

Honestly, it's Kong Long who saved you.

Let's get some exercise.

I'm with you.

I've jogged on this road for over ten years.

But I'll still get lost if I'm careless.

It's not easy to follow the right track.

You'll find your legs getting heavier.

Until one day, you ask yourself

Why YOU go on.

In just a few days, I'll be off for good.

What happened three years ago wasn't your fault.

No one should blame you for the deaths of your colleagues.

You shouldn't hide away.

You shouldn't feel regret.

Let me tell you a story.

I was only ten in 1992.

My dad was a cop.

He and his eight colleagues had a gun battle with a gang.

They took 47 shots in total.

What happened?

Four cops died.

My dad was one of them.

13 years later,

their sons and daughters became friends.

Three of them became cops.

And I'm one of them.

Do you know how we feel...

when people talk about our fathers?

We feel so proud.

Kong, sir...

we need you to take on the agents.

Let me give you some advice.

You can't beat them.

That's why we need a leader like you.

I once was lost...

and it was so hard to find myself.

I don't want to take the wrong road again.

If you insist...

do it yourselves.

I hope you all make it back safely.

Kong Long!

We can do it without you!

- Sir. - Sir.

- Sir. - Sir.

There's four OPs on the balcony.

Two teams of snipers standing by to guard all the exits of this building.

We have men on both the sixth and seventh floors

divided into four units to guard the two main routes...

especially the ninth floor.

We have eight top sharpshooters.

The HK Police must keep you safe.

You and the agents will learn to respect justice.

Which team do you belong to, sir?

I asked you which team you're on!

It's him. Tell all units to get ready.

Yes, sir!

The target's approaching HQ. Everybody ready!

The snipers on the balconies will provide cover. Over.

Sir, leave!

Target found. It's the man I met in the temple.

- He's with Tiger's girlfriend. - Don't let them go!

So many people died. Take action right now!

Jie ready.

Suet ready.

We're listening to you, Ho.

Ho ready.

They've stopped moving!

The most silent night

Hello, Mom. How are you?

Lam's residence. Please leave your message after the tone.

Mom, I think I gotta stay for a few more days.

Hong Kong's cops piss me off, you know.

They said they really need me.

I will come back.

I will.

You've been saying you'd quit smoking.

But you're still doing it.

You can cheat yourself for years...

until the day you die.

I should have listened to you.

I'm not able to bear all the responsibility.

You too are cheating yourself.

You can never forget the battle three years ago.

If I had just one more day...

I'd give myself another chance.

Boss...I'm out of time.

Tomorrow is your last day as a cop.

Give yourself a chance...

and those kids, as well.

- We'll go first. See you. - I can handle it. Have fun.

Let me open it.

I'll do it myself.

I've asked her so many times...

to visit me.

But she never did.

I don't want to blame her, but...

I just wanted to ask if...

if...if she really loves me.

My brother always wanted to be a good cop.

But he was paralyzed in a car crash after two years on the force.

I became a cop because of him.

Hoped to share my experiences with him.

But sometimes I think...

I'm his only family member--

what if something happened to me?

Who'd look after him?

Brother.

I don't know when I'll see you after tomorrow.

I know you had high expectations.

But I hope you know that...

whether or not I can catch this gang...

...I've tried my best.

I think...we're very much like a team.

The last battle

Stop! You're sentenced to be deported!

- Don't get wild! - Stop it!

- Don't move! - What the hell?!

Don't move.

Freeze!

Get in the car!

What are you looking at?

One of you died. So did my old friend.

You've got ten minutes to read that.

The Duen brothers have run guns and drugs for years.

All firearms and drug dealers

have a bank account number and a password stored somewhere.

No mark, no trace. Their underground capital exceeds 32 billion.

The numbers are all on a film roll which is their most precious asset.

And so it's the agents' prime target.

Nobody ever knew where Tiger hid it.

They let Tiger go to force his hand.

If Tiger runs, he's gonna need the film. Somebody's gonna have to deliver it.

I know who she is.

If you don't act today, you'll never get another chance.

Will you come with me to catch them?

Come, or stay?

- Come! - Come!

We must go together... and come back together!

- Yes, sir! - Yes, sir!

Fly high

Hello?

Tiger.

Take the stuff from the safe box for me.

I'll call you.

Make sure no one follows you.

- Ching, you're my only hope. - I got it.

Here they are!

If she takes it out and the gang gets close to her,

it's game over.

Jun.

The girl's out.

- Shoot the tires of her car. - Yes, sir.

Ching, Petros told me to get you.

- You are... - I'm his friend.

It must be Kong Long.

Have you got onto the highway?

Leave the highway at the second intersection and turn right.

There's an abandoned power plant three kilometers away.

You bring the girl, and I'll trap those bastards there.

How come there's a car following us?

ls someone causing you trouble?

I'll deal with it.

Let's go from this side.

You're not getting away!

Sir, their snipers are following us.

Great! Lead them as far as possible.

Ho, Ko and Petros are here. Lure them to the second floor.

- How can we get out of here? - We can take a taxi.

We won't find a taxi here.

- Get us out of here. - You got it.

Long, I've finished off the big dude!

Don't underestimate him!

The case has been open for three years.

I must close it now.

Then let's finish this...

the way...

...we started it.

Give yourself a way out.

A defeated soldier...

has only...

one...way...out!

Lok, Petros may suddenly appear. Watch out.

Don't worry. Let me cover you.

I won't let Petros get close to you.

Ching.

Okay. I'm coming soon.

Petros is right behind you. Don't move. I'll take him.

Don't go there alone.

Find Tiger. I'm staying here.

- Hello, fortune teller. - Where is Lok?

Lok!

Get him. Go!

...I've already shot the whole process.

Human memories are too complicated.

As time passes, somehow you may deceive yourself.

I used to believe that what I recorded was reality...

...until that night when I returned to that pub

and sat where Petros had sat.

I saw her again.

She looked so differently today.

I suddenly realized

what I recorded was not so real.

Only when there is faith...

does it finally become the truth.
