zach: When I got to guyana,

I was looking
around, and it's hot.

You're by the equator.

I was worried about
sunburn affecting my body,

as well as finding water fast.

Good lord.

What have I gotten myself into?

My first impression of
mexico -- it was just amazing.

It was gorgeous.

The jungle was awesome.

It was just beautiful,
absolutely beautiful.

But I had a fear of spiders
before I did the show,

so I was a little scared
of the tarantulas.

I knew there were some big ones.

I've already seen
a tarantula that was,

like, bigger than a squirrel.

That is making
me a little nervous.

Definitely gonna have to
watch my step walking through it.

That was a little terrifying.

Honora: We got out
into the dunes in brazil.

They took that
blindfold off of me.

I was just baffled.

The wind was intense, too
-- the sun and the wind --

and the sand was so fine.

It was just, like, blowing
in everyone's eyes.

Whoa, I have never seen
anything like this before in my life.

Hakim: When I arrived
in india, one of the things

that I was really struck
by was the beauty.

It looked a lot like the
mountains of north carolina,

so I felt really confident
and comfortable.

Steve: First impression of
mexico -- it was really humid,

it was buggy, and it seemed
like I was just gonna get torn apart.

The mosquitos and the deer
flies around here are nasty,

and they've already bitten
me multiple times on the neck.

It's gonna be twice as bad
when I don't have clothes on.

Afften: Our location
ended up being

the [bleep] savannahs of
guyana, south [bleep] america.

It was just nothing out there.

Just heat and sun and heat
and sun and heat and sun!

It was nuts, and that
was my biggest concern

is how are we gonna
get out of the sun

and how are we gonna
get out of the heat.

Narrator: It doesn't take
long for each survivalist

to face their first awkward
hurdle of the 21-day challenge.

This is very
uncomfortable for me.

[ chuckles ]

narrator: Reality sets in

when the survivalists
meet one another

in some of the most
inhospitable locations on earth,

completely naked.

How are you doing about
the whole naked thing?

This is crazy.

jennifer: I didn't
now how to react.

I was like, "oh, my god.

Everybody's staring at
me because they have to."

It was just so uncomfortable.

This is the most awkward thing

I've ever done
in my entire life.

country I've never been,

front of a stranger, so...

Charlie: I'm gonna meet a woman.

I don't know her, and I'm not
sure how it's gonna be received.

I'm italian.

Italians are very
touchy-feely kind of guys.

We're both naked.

I definitely see
someone down there.

When you're standing on a beach

and there's a naked woman
walking up towards you

and you're standing
there completely naked,

it was very awkward.

[ both chuckle ]

I can't speak for her, but I
know I was doing my best

to blow it off as this is just
part of the whole process.

Found a stick on the beach that
actually helps a lot with the coral.

Yeah, I mean, that's
how I noticed you

was you had a large...

I think she kind of slipped.

It was pretty funny because
the moment after she said it,

she immediately regretted it.

I was hoping that no one
would notice what I said, but...

Yeah, that did happen.

Narrator: Sometimes,
it's the social aspects

that test the survivalists.

Sleeping naked with a
stranger in freezing conditions

can be more than just
physically uncomfortable.

Hakim: Keeping a fire going.

Still really cold, though.

I mean, there's just
no sleep to be had.

It was horribly cold,
and I was shocked.

I was like, "oh, my
god, this is a lot colder

than I thought it was gonna be."

and, you know, I, like -- I
was like, "this is happening.

We're snuggling," and he felt
uncomfortable, and I could tell.

So, we're gonna
try to lay sideways.

And every time,
like, I'd be like,

"okay, you need to spoon
me," and I would, like,

shove my ass into him,
and he'd, like, push away.

And I'm like,
"no, I'm freezing!"

hakim: I mean, you know,
it was a little bit challenging

because we were both nude.

Phaedra: And I'd keep, like,
scooting closer and closer

and he'd, like, make
this noise, like, "ugh --"

like, uncomfortable noise.

And I'm like [bleep]

I'm like, "hopefully he
gets more comfortable

'cause I need to stay warm."

narrator: Choosing an
effective survival tool

can sometimes
mean the difference

between thriving
and barely surviving.

Honora learned the hard way

when she chose to
bring a magnifying glass

to the sand-blown
dunes of brazil.

Honora: So, I brought
the magnifying glass

'cause you can use
u.V. Rays to start fires

and disinfect your water.

What I'm doing is
I'm using u.V. Light

to treat water in this
husk that we found,

and then we can drink the water.

Water out there was
plentiful and safe to drink.

That was one of the things
that honora and I disagreed on

and I think one of the
things that really contributed

to her not making it,
was that she insisted

on using her magnifying glass

to treat some
water in a coconut,

but she had to sit and direct
sunlight for that entire time.

Honora: So tired.

It just kind of hit me.

Go take a nap in the shade.

I'm gonna drink
some water first.

Then drink the water.

It's not ready.

I think from using
my magnifying glass,

the way I was
purifying my water,

I was staring at the light
reflection on the water,

which is like
staring at the sun.

Basically no matter
how much water we drink,

we're gonna maintain
constant levels of dehydration.

She spent a half-hour in the
sun to get six ounces of water,

which would just
completely outdo

any kind of benefit
that it would have.

So, that was a horrible idea.

Like, it totally did me in.

Narrator: Armed with
limited tools and resources,

sometimes thinking outside
of the box can be lifesaving.

Afften: Being that we only
had very few survival items,

while we were sitting
in the watering hole,

I realized, like,
we have to be able

to figure out how
to use these items

in other ways than
what they are used for.

I definitely think we should try

to use our packs
to get these fish.

I think it's worth a shot.

Luke: Okay.

Well, what do you got?

This feels amazing.

Yeah, it does.

Look at them
right freaking here.

So, at first the fish
were kind of on to us,

but after a while, we got them.

What was that?

'cause he was in the bag!

We actually got a
few little fish from it,

so it was a good idea,

and we still got to
sit there and relax.

and more fish
you can't even see.

uncomfortable situations
our survivalists encounter,

they can neither run nor hide

from the sensitive
issue of hygiene.

Got to stay cavity

Pine pitch is a bitch.

I ended up just, like,
cutting chunks of my hair out.

I probably would've
scared someone

if I had to run into them.

It definitely got
pretty out of control.

Man: Don't worry,

you're not the first
man I've filmed bathing.

Look, mom, I'm clean.

I feel bathed.

Jennifer: But do you feel clean?

I feel like my hair has,
like, a brand-new texture.

You're just filthy. You're
absolutely just filthy.

It's pretty gross.

I had to wash my hair
one day, and by "wash,"

like, basically dipped
my head in our water hole.

That water hole stunk.

It was disgusting.

That was absolutely
the most vile thing ever.

I don't know what's
my hair and what is dirt.

I'm pretty sure nobody is
ever going to date me after this.

Stuck my head in a stagnant
pool of monkey [bleep]

[ monkeys chitter ]

phaedra: You don't really
know how dirty it can get

until you actually are in it.

It's kind of shocking.

Honestly, the worst part about
the hygiene issue out there

is -- you know,
it's not a big deal.

The wind's blowing.
Nobody smells you.

But you get inside that hut,
and the fire pit starts going,

and all you can smell
is, like, rotten [bleep]

and, like, cheese.

I'll never get used
to my own funk.

I smell so bad.

Hakim: At first, you start trying
to clean yourself all the time.

I know phaedra did that.

But then after a
certain period of time,

you just don't, you
know, wash as much.

Phaedra: Get a little
shower while you're here, too.

So, I was trying to be polite.

I was like, "hakim, I
wash my chach every day.

I'm still, like, taking care
of the parts that matter."

it'll make you feel better.

-You say that I feel bad?

No, I'm just saying it'll
make you feel even better.

Like, "maybe you should just
go splash some water on that."

and he's like, "no, I
don't like cold water.

I don't like it touching me."

I'm telling you, I
wash down there,

and I'm, like...Happy.

steve: The mud is so
soothing on all of the burning.

It's so good.

Yeah, as far as hygiene went,
neither one of us really cared.

Dude, I look like a hot mess.

My hygiene was fine.

I had, like, the
best smell ever.

I didn't stink the whole time.

It was pretty amazing, actually.

I think I smell so good today.

We didn't smell that bad.
We couldn't smell each other.

[ sniffs ]

steve was stinking,
like, really bad.

See the nice smell about here is

that it's all covered in urine
'cause we take about a step

and a half outside of
the shelter at night to pee.

You're standing in it right now.

In the middle of the night,
you're not gonna wander that far

from your shelter
in order to go pee.

the lack of hygiene

can present a new
level of discomfort

for the survivalists,
oftentimes,

it's the jungle's
smallest creatures

that pack the largest punch.

From india to colombia,
the tiny attackers

seemed to be more of a
nuisance than ever before.

Zach: The thing about the bugs
is whenever you get any wounds,

the bugs during the
day really flock to that.

You could have a hundred
bugs in that little area

trying to get to that
infection and spread that.

It's just -- it's an
uncomfortable situation.

You got to find
a way to wrap it.

It's pretty gross.

Christina: ♪ going
to the jungle ♪

dude, look at the ants!

Ow, [bleep]

steve: I thought that was
a snake you walked on.

Oh, god, that hurts.

Yeah, they are. [bleep]

[ laughs ] move!

The fire ants -- those
things were just crazy

'cause they were, like, packs.

There were like millions.

Fire ants everywhere.

Yeah, they're literally
covered on everything.

There are so many
ants in the jungle.

Steve: We definitely
got eaten alive.

Fleas, ticks, ants,
and mosquitos.

-That ant that bit me...
-Mm-hmm.

...I'm gonna bite
that [bleep] back.

Yeah?

For sure.

Well, my shelter just caved in,

and it had a little
spider in there

that was chomping
on some mosquitos.

And I think I spooked
him with the cave-in.

[ laughs ]

he got crushed up against me.

Oh, man.

Cave-in.

Oh [bleep] ow!

It bit me, I think.

So, it's, like,
enflamed and yellow

around the bite already.

Looks like a --

like a strawberry
cream-filled cookie, kind of.

Yeah, it's oozing a little bit.

I guess that's just life.

Time for another snail dinner!

What?!

Narrator: Buzzing, stinging,
and biting, these pestering insects

drive the survivalists
to the brink of insanity.

But sometimes the tables turn,

and it's these bugs,
among other creatures,

that nourish the
depleted survivalists.

One of the grossest
things I think I had to eat

was the slugs and the snails.

It doesn't seem like it.

I'm like, "oh, it's
escargot. Not a big deal."

but when they're, like, foaming
and frothing on the fire pit

and that stink from the
-- oh, god, it was horrible.

Let's get these guys
out towards the edge.

That looks like
it's gonna explode.

Um, I ate some worms.

I've been gathering. I
found a bunch of worms.

-Did you?
-Yeah.

-Good deal.
-You want to split them with me?

Hakim: If you want to
eat a worm, have at it.

And I go to swallow them,

and I swear those
little bastards over there

are worse than the
earthworms here

because they, like,
fight for their life, okay?

Like, I'm swallowing
these worms,

and they're crawling
up my throat.

Just thinking about it even
still makes me want to vomit.

Matt: Not much.
We got this little guy.

That locust tasted delicious.

Pretty much anything that
flies, I look at as food now.

stoked about this thing.

Matt: Honora loves eating bugs.

That's like a last
resort for me out here.

See if I can remain
vegan the whole time.

I could've eaten like
a thousand locusts.

Just that one just
tasted so good.

Not one part of this
didn't taste good.

hard-boiled or over easy?

We found these eggs,
and our first instinct

was let's hard-boil these things

and this is gonna be
a really good meal.

I'm excited about the eggs.

They're not very big,

but they're gonna taste
good, I have a feeling.

These eggs would be so
good with tabasco sauce.

I just want to crack it open.

Yeah, that's what
I want to do, too.

It came time to eat them, and
I remember breaking it open

and peeling it back, and
there was no, like, yolk

or, you know, whites,
or anything like that.

Oh, god.

So, we cracked open the
eggs hoping to see dos huevos,

and they were dos birds.

Ohh, you know we
got to eat them, too.

What does it taste
like? Chicken?

I can't wait anymore.
I got to do it.

I can't sit here
and dwell on it.

I think I'm just
gonna swallow it.

Luke: I literally just
threw it in my mouth

and swallowed
it like a big pill.

It was absolutely disgusting.

forget that moment.

We got big bertha right here.

We got an eight-foot
gator as our neighbor.

Narrator: Located in some

of the most ecologically
diverse territories on the planet,

our survivalists get plenty
of unexpected visitors.

Do you see the gator?

Yeah.

We got an eight-foot
gator as our neighbor.

We got to name our
neighbors -- big bertha.

That's what we're calling her.

Big bertha is about a
10- to 12-foot alligator

right behind our shelter

on the opposite
side of the creek.

The very first day
that we saw her there,

it definitely raised
a little bit of concern.

We got big bertha right here.

scratching her back on the tree.

[ gulps ]

there she is.

Right there.

As the days went
on and we noticed

that she just kept going back

to the same corner
across the creek,

we had this mutual
kind of understanding

and respect for each other.

Ryan: That's
definitely big bertha.

I definitely look at big
bertha as a friend of mine.

I'd say I made a couple
jungle friends out there.

There was a really
cool interaction one day

when I was hunting
with a barred owl.

[ hooting ]

he was up in the
tree right above me.

You know, big, round owl face,

and he was hooting over and
over and calling over and over,

and I was kind of calling back.

[ hooting ]

[ owl hooting ]

oh, he likes you.

[ laughs ] most owls do.

The following day, I went to
go scope out another area.

Right in the middle of the swamp

was this beautiful
barred owl feather --

crisp, clean, sitting above
the swamp on some ferns,

and it was almost like
he had left it there for me

after we had met each
other the day before.

What do you do when
you're boooooooooooooored?

So, I made a friend
here named turtle.

So, we had a wilson moment.

I had a turtle shell,

and, you know, you
get lonely out there.

Sometimes, you
just need a friend.

Turtle is my buddy.

He's my pillow when I need him.

He's my friend when
I need to talk to him.

[ sighs ] I love you, turtle.

It was an entertaining
thing to do.

Make the best out
of your situation.

The first day on the challenge,

I'm like, yeah, I'm
gonna find a monkey

and I'm gonna teach him
how to bring me bananas.

He's gonna be my bitch
for the 21 days that I'm here.

But, of course, they didn't get
close enough for me to do that.

Um, oh, he's moved.

Some days, mornings,
they would come in

and they would
just get in the tree

right over our shelter
and give us a little surprise.

Steve: You're obnoxiously loud.

[ monkey grunting ]

you wake me up every morning.

[ urine dripping ]

and you could hear it hit,

kind of look up,
and be like, "oh.

Good morning to you, too."

[ chittering ]

so, our buddy here
has come to visit tonight.

-There he is.
-What's up, buddy?

He's calling everybody over.

[ urine dripping ]

holy [bleep]

you got to be [bleep] me, dude.

Yo, monkey, you're getting
[bleep] on our bed, dude.

The monkeys would
pee on our shelter.

[ urine dripping ]

which is fine because,
you know if it was raining,

steve and I would
just pee in our shelter,

so we were fine with
the pee on our shelter.

she's getting sick?

I couldn't get out fast enough.

in the worst
conditions imaginable,

conflict surfaces.

The daily grind and the
fierce rigors of the environment

can push the survivalists
to their breaking points.

had a disagreement,

and we agreed to divvy
up our building materials.

I'm keeping the palms
since you carried up only one.

gutting it and cleaning it

or utilizing it for
something else.

because it seems
like all your skills

cemented the fact

that spending two more weeks
with her would be a rocky ride.

punishing environments

have never taken as much
of a toll on the survivalists

as they did in these
eight locations.

3 out of the last
16 survivalists

had to raise the white flag.

If we can be honest,

my [bleep] was
bloody day [bleep] 1

from [bleep] so much from eating

that [bleep] south
american food.

My stomach was not good.

if afften prepared

too much for the challenge.

She had a lot of apprehension

about doing many
things out there

that I would deem you
should in a survival situation,

like going to the
water or eat the food

or drink the water
that we boiled.

I feel pretty full.
I need a second.

There's a lot of
different survival things

that you must do
that she refused to.

Do you want to just go
get mud on you real quick?

Um, let's just keep going.

I'll tell you if it gets,
like, too extreme.

Just bad decision
making in my opinion.

First off, [bleep] I ate
enough while I was out there,

and I drank enough
while I was out there.

I didn't realize at
the time, but I was in

my little postpartum
thing and got my period.

It was my very first period
I had since I'd given birth,

and I had to deal
with that [bleep]

ugh, I hate being
on my [bleep] period.

Oh, my goodness. My eyes
are gonna start sweating.

You wake up with, you
know, blood all over your feet.

That's not something you really
want to be doing, you know?

And then on top of that, I
threw up five days in a row,

and after all that,
that's why I left.

want to do this?

The day that amber got sick,

I decided I wanted to
spend some time fishing.

Catfish!

We had both just eaten catfish,
and all her catfish came up.

it happened right in
front of the shelter.

I couldn't get out fast enough.

Amber: I didn't mean to
puke in front of the shelter.

It was profusely
coming out of me.

I could not control it.

Ohh!

Ryan: I get sick when I
see someone getting sick.

I just don't want
to lose my lunch.

Ryan started saying,
"oh, god, I'm gonna puke.

I can't -- I can't
deal with puke."

I don't want to -- yep.

I just don't want to see it.

Ryan: I know
everyone's not the same,

but I can feel what
sickness feels like.

She was sitting in
front of her pile of vomit,

and it's not something
that I can really look at

at that moment, because I
didn't want to lose my meal, too.

Woman: Would you recommend that?

Man: Yeah, recommend
a doctor come in.

Until further exam
from a doctor,

once you get her
inside a facility,

they can do some more
testing to find out if it's dysentery

or some other bacterial disease.

Ryan: We've ingested
all the same stuff --

the water, the catfish.

So, I don't know why.

Amber: I thought I got
really sick eating the catfish,

but it was because one
of the apple snails we ate

was not cooked all the way.

Funny story is I
caught the apple snail,

I gave it to ryan to cook, he
handed me half of the snail.

This is a little gooey
right there, huh?

And I thought, "I think
he cooked it all the way.

He said he did."

he did, right?

No, the apple snail was
not cooked all the way.

So, apparently, when you don't
cook apple snails all the way,

they have a parasite
inside of them

that can cause you to
have many tiny microworms.

So, I survived.

I have worms.

Narrator: Illness is often
attributed to the brutal conditions

that the survivalists must
face during the challenge.

But sometimes it's the choices
made prior to the challenge

that come back to haunt them.

Matt: It's so rough
without coffee.

Can't wait till I can have
coffee again -- an espresso --

and not hate everything
as soon as I wake up.

I had a headache keeping
me up all night last night

from coffee withdrawals.

I think that was
adding to the hangover.

Being out in a desert

with almost no food
and just some water,

it was a big shock
to my body, I think.

I was like, "wow,

this guy doesn't care
too much about his body."

and I actually had
stopped drinking all coffee,

all caffeine, all alcohol
like two months prior

to going out on that challenge.

Honora was smart and
kind of detoxed off coffee,

but I kept going on my pace

of 8 to 12 shots
of espresso a day.

Sometimes 16.

Again, it's ironic that
he lasted and I didn't.

[ laughs ]

do you want to grab
firewood on the way back?

Or do you want to take these
and I'll grab a handful of firewood?

Either one.

Steve was very adamant

about getting
firewood all the time.

We need so much wood
to get through the night.

We had to get firewood,
but I couldn't do that all day.

I couldn't do it
12 hours straight.

I was like, "I won't do it."

so, the jungle queen goes to...

Christina mcqueen!

You like my crown? My sash.

Oftentimes, I
would feel christina

would waste a lot
of time and energy

doing things that
really didn't contribute

to the survival aspect
of our challenge.

I want to make a chair so
I can sit outside and relax.

That's why -- by the fire.

And, you know,
like, I could sit back.

Christina: I was
over it, and that's why

I took the machete
and I was making things.

Like, I made a flute.

If it makes noise,
I will crack up.

It will be funny.

And you'll be very
annoy -- annoyed.

Could be true.

We'll find out later.

I made a golf club.

Come on, go in the
hole, go in the hole.

Oh! Not even close.

Okay, I forgot
how heavy this is.

That's kind of like
having a house,

not being able to pay
your rent, and saying,

"I'm gonna get a new ferrari."

a flute, a chair,
now a golf club?

And we haven't eaten
anything substantial?

Meh.

Yeah, that was my
bad habit, but, um...

I got through it.

[ sighs ]

well...

Narrator: Coming up...

Charlie, there's the boat.

Charlie: Yeah, right over there.

This challenge is the hardest
thing I've ever done in my life.

Trenton: I could not
wait to get out of there.

Oh!

Almost had it. It
broke my spear.

After I missed
the first alligator,

I woke up from having this
dream of an alligator trainer.

He was using an
aluminum boom stick noose.

I woke up, and I was
like -- a light bulb went on

that I could definitely
make one of those out here.

Put the noose over
the alligator's head

and then pull from
the end of the pole,

and it cinches around
the alligator's body

or the alligator's neck,

and then you can
control it from a distance.

And the fact that I got to
use it, it was just awesome.

Whoo-hoo!

This is un-[bleep]-believable.

Narrator: Despite the excruciating
pain and the unwavering misery,

some survivalists were
able to form deep connections

with the nature around them.

Once you become
so in tuned with nature,

things start happening.

You can see a little further,
you can hear a little clearer.

You will feel a breeze and
you know that rain is coming,

just off of a breeze.

That was one of the
greatest experiences

that I've had in my lifetime.

Jennifer: To be
put into a situation

where you fend for yourself
and keep yourself alive,

it was just so empowering.

I feel like a completely
different person.

It just kind of got me back
to where I needed to be.

Longest, most enlightening
three weeks of my life.

When I was out there,
everything that I was hunting

and everything that
I was foraging for

and all the land
that I was exploring,

I just felt this unbelievably
deep connection to all of it

because I was
in balance with it.

Whoo-hoo!

And it felt really good.

Ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay!

Narrator: For those who achieved
what they set out to accomplish,

extraction day was one
they would never forget.

Steve: Want to mark
the tree with me?

Yes, let's mark 21 days.

I remember the 21st day.

Steve and I carved out

the last day in
a tree next to us.

Good enough -- 21.

Good morning, day 21.

All right, I made it.

I'm not out of here yet, though,

but it is the morning of
day 21, and that's awesome.

Extraction day was bittersweet.

I was standing
there at my shelter,

looking at the thrive sign,
just looking at this place

that I had created as
my home for 21 days.

It was -- it was emotional.

Half of me didn't
want to leave at all.

Zach: Extraction day, I
wake up, I'm in a cave,

and I think I'm gonna
get the hell out of here,

and it's kind of bittersweet

because I'm looking
at the sun rise,

and I'm thinking, "man,
this is the last time

I'm gonna see the sun rise."

it's so beautiful out here,

but it's so freaking
deadly, as well.

Here goes nothing.

Let's start this trek and
get the hell out of here.

I think since day 1,

extraction is
always in your mind.

You're always thinking about it.

Everything leads
to extraction day.

-21 days!
-21 days!

-That's it.
-Awesome.

Just waking up and feeling
like we did it, we can do it,

there was nothing
that can stop us now,

nothing can get in our way.

Okay.

Oh, yeah.

Yeah.

It's a pretty good
ways across there.

We came to this body of
water, and I'm like, "oh [bleep]

they're gonna make us
swim across this [bleep]

steve: I could not
wait to get out of there.

For me, I just said
the faster I swim,

the faster I'll be
out of this thing

and the less chance I'll have

of anything taking
me back down with it.

Christina: And I just remember
swimming as fast as I could.

I'm like, "I'm almost
there, I'm almost there."

and as soon as I could
stand and started walking out,

that was, like, one of the
best moments of my life.

Steve: The biggest
lesson I learned

was the body's
ability to endure --

the human capability

to just push
through these blocks

that you didn't realize
you could get through.

But we did it, and that was --

that was probably one
of the coolest moments.

Holy [bleep]

let's get this raft in the water
and get the hell out of here.

Yeah, let's go. Let's do it.

We didn't walk 30 feet

or three miles to a
road and get on a truck.

What?

There's a caiman over there.

Our extraction lasted two days,

and it was the hardest
thing I've ever done in my life.

Dani: Charlie, there's the boat.

Yeah, right over there.

That raft ain't coming here.

Looks like a swim, dani.

Charlie: And completing the
extraction was my proudest moment.

All right.

We're in.

I wonder what that is up ahead.

Looks like a road.

Oh, my god.

Once we saw the road

that we were supposed
to get our ride from,

it was almost overwhelming.

I felt like I couldn't breathe.

Hakim: There it is.

Go for it, girl, go for it.

I really felt like
a million bucks

getting out of there.

-Oh, yeah!
-Yeah! We did it!

The first thing I did when I
got home was brush my teeth.

It was so much better
having something feel clean.

Steve: Once I got
home, I realized

that I missed the
affection, human affection.

I'm a hugger, too.

Are you happy to have me back?

I think my mom was the
most excited to see me.

She cries whenever I leave and
whenever she sees me anyway,

so it was really
nice to see her,

and everybody when I got
back overwhelmingly said,

"oh, we had no doubts
that you'd finish."

christina: The doors
that this 21-day challenge

opened in my heart --

I never, like, really
hugged my daughter

or kissed her on the
forehead, you know.

And as soon as I got home,
that was exactly what I did.

I missed you!

Oh, my gosh, it's been so long.

You look like you've
grown or something.

Time to see the wife.

It's you!

Right when I got out of there,
my wife, she started crying.

I started crying, and it
was just such a moment

of "you did it, heck yeah."

and I had completed
"naked and afraid."

it's an eye-opener.

It makes you appreciate
everything a hundred times more.

Your worst day in
normal society is easy

compared to your
best day out there,

so, you know, it changes you.

It makes you appreciate
things a whole lot more, and I do.

[ laughs ] I knew
we could do it.

Couldn't have
done it without you.

This challenge is
the hardest thing

I've ever done in my life.

To celebrate
that, I got a tattoo,

and it's a map of the
country of colombia.

This is a milestone in my life.
