for a stop and search of a vehicle.

in regard to a vehicle that's supposedly transporting

a large shipment of dope.

As soon as the vehicle enters Jefferson Parish jurisdiction,

narcotics is gonna pull the vehicle over.

And they've requested our assistance in the stop.

Doing a stop like this when there could be

a large quantity of narcotics or dope in the car

can be very dangerous.

That person driving that car,

who may have been arrested countless times,

is not gonna be hesitant to want to flee from the police.

Or worse, they may want to get into a shootout.

So we want to approach this situation

with extreme caution.

There's the marked unit and the target vehicle.

Narcotics is gonna take the vehicle

to a nearby parking lot to search it really well--

someplace out of the way from traffic.

They already got a dog on the car.

I guess these ladies are trafficking.

I just can't get over how they involve children

They probably figured they're less likely to be searched

and put under that much scrutiny if they have a baby in the car.

if they take that baby from her?

The amounts we're dealing with here

could easily pass through ten guys.

You know, one guys buys, you know, a five-pounder,

another guys sells that into pounds,

another guy breaks that pound into ounces,

that guy breaks that into quarters and eighths,

all the way down to high school kids

selling them one joint at a time.

I mean, this has prevented a lot of people

from having access to this stuff,

taking down an amount like this.

[Siren whoops]

Another police car coming in.

Looks like there was another vehicle involved.

We now believe that this suspect

was involved in the trafficking operation as well.

In order to avoid suspicion,

he probably had his sister

and mother carry the drugs.

Luckily, one of our officers noticed him following

the target vehicle and was able to jump him

and find out who he was.

Why did your sister get into this?

Yeah, but you can't put your sister with the baby.

What about the baby, man? Huh?

Because of what you did to your sister and that baby,

After several cases of seeing parents

who put their children in Jeopardy,

it's nice for us to see parents who really love their children,

protect their children,

good people who are really trying

to make the neighborhood a better place.

We get to pick up some patients

from the New Orleans Children's Hospital.

These are all cancer survivors,

so they're doing well enough to come with us,

And I'm very excited to have them on my float.

but I'm more than happy to be there

Having the opportunity to spend the day

with the kids of Jefferson Parish

is a real honor for me.

When I'm out on the streets,

sometimes I see drug dealers and other criminals

who are not exactly the best role models for their kids.

Events like this give me the opportunity

to reach out to the children.
