We're headed over
to meet with narcotics

where they have obtained
a warrant

for a particular residence

and an arrest warrant
for an individual

who they believe
to be selling crack cocaine.

Our suspect's a black male,

there's supposedly
a .45 caliber gun

that's in the bedroom
that's all the way in the back.

What kind of priors he got?

Uh, we don't know
his last name,

but we have a couple informants
that gave us good intelligence.

Intelligence says
there's firearms

in the back
of the house,

which doesn't mean
that they wouldn't have time

to get to it before we kick
the door in.

That's why we've got
to get in quick.

It's going to be me
with the shield going in first,

followed by the long gun.

and the rest of the crew can
follow in however we see fit.

The plan is to enter
through the front door,

secure the apartment,
and arrest our suspect

so we can execute the search.

but another guy tried
to swallow something,

possibly drugs.

So the team decided
to pepper spray him.

I'm always searching in places

where narcotics could be kind of
hidden in plain sight.

It's real common
for these guys

to hide drugs and stuff
in the kid's room,

like in their toys.

For them, they think
that's probably

the most clever place
to hide it.

I think if people
are going to be slinging drugs,

it's really good
if they don't have kids.

What really gets me
in this case

is that there's kids living
in this house.

Drugs, weapons, violence,

how you could

So this started out
as a routine traffic stop,

and, as sometimes happens,

this turned out to be
something a little bit more.

We found this guy
with a significant amount

of marijuana,
and we had to arrest him.

You never know.

Drugs are really damaging
in these communities,

whether it's parents slinging

or young people
just going the wrong way.

The people who are dealing

don't seem to think twice
about any consequences.

It's a shame, man,
a damn shame.

But conversely, in looking
at this beautiful baby

and his mother,

I also look at all
my other fellow officers

and myself in a sort
of a new light, you know,

and hope and pray every day

that we all get to come home
at night.
