Episode Thirty-one

I call to pay respect to Father.

Your Majesty.

Get up.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Thank you, Father.

You two are brave and skillful in warfare,

have defeated the many with the few to repulse the strong enemy,

and have shown our national prowess.

I'm very gratified to hear that.

It's my pleasure

to share your cares and burdens.

Great.

Yuwen Yue, I have heard that

you had saved His Royal Highness Xiang

at the battlefield regardless of your own life.

A tiger father will not beget a dog son.

You just overpraised me, Your Majesty.

His Royal Highness Xiang has both intelligent and courageous,

and is proficient at the art of war.

I would have already been dead at the battlefield

if there were not him.

You don't have to be modest.

The meritorious deserves rewards.

I will confer title of deputy commander of the Qiaoqi Camp to you,

to assist His Royal Highness Xiang

and serve the country.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Your Majesty, Yanxun is here.

Let him come in.

The guilt man, Yanxun,

wish your Majesty all happiness and well.

Get up.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

It's been long time.

How are you doing in the past two years?

Thanks to your blessing,

the guilt man, Yanxun, is all right.

At that year,

you were reckless,

so I let you stay in the court to reflect on fault.

The three-year period is about to expire soon.

Have you

got your temper controlled?

During the three years,

I have introspected my fault day and night,

and remembered your instruction.

Nowadays,

my fickleness has been faded away

and I finally understand your painstaking efforts.

It's good for you to understand it.

You are not like your father.

You grew up in Chang'an since childhood,

and I have watched you over the cradle.

At that year,

the reason I punished you

is to hope you can stay in the court

to reflect on your fault and concentrate on the books.

Now, you are the only one left

of the Yanbei Family.

The reason I forgave you that year

is to place high hopes on you.

Considering that you have already changed your character,

from today,

I will remove the imprisonment

and you could take free walk

in the Chang'an city.

I'm bestowing the jade to you

to show my willing.

I should offer my life in sacrifice

to repay you for your huge kindness.

It's alright, you just get up.

Okay, today, I'm calling all of you here

because there is

one assignment for you.

Please give us the order.

The envoys of Rouran are having an audience.

I would like to take hunting

at the outskirts to welcome them.

But the hunting field is too vast,

and I'm afraid there is something wrong.

Who should I

trust my security with?

Father,

this stuff should be entrusted to Yuwen Yue.

He is very scrupulous

and will not disappoint your important task.

Yuwen Yue, how do you think?

I will surely not to let you down.

It's good.

Then it's settled.

Prince Yan is much thinner than before.

His Royal Highness Xiang's elegance remains as before.

It's hard for you to fight at close quarters

outside the Pass for these years,

while I just stayed in the capital city.

I haven't got the chance

to show my appreciation in person.

And I also want to appreciate

that you had submitted the statement several times

at the year, to save my father and Yanbei.

Misfortune tests the sincerity of friends.

I will remember your kindness

as long as I live.

You are too modest, Royal highness.

I hadn't helped you at all.

Since father

has already pardoned you,

I hope you can renew your spirit.

There is a long time ahead.

I will store up in my heart that

His Majesty's great mercy and your benevolent integrity.

Eunuch, please notify His Majesty.

I have got something very important to report.

What happened?

Why are you so anxious?

The imperial mausoleum caught a fire last night,

and the flame is burning violently.

General Zhao

has arranged Qiaoqi Camp

and Qianfeng Camp to fight the fire right now.

But the weather is dry and things are flammable,

I'm afraid they couldn't turn this around.

The people of the Ministry of Punishments

have captured the Supervisor of the imperial mausoleum,

Yuwen Huai.

You just wait outside.

I will come in to report.

It's extremely audacious to set the imperial mausoleum on fire.

Your Royal Highness Xiang.

Eunuch, what's going on?

His Majesty asked Your Royal Highness to wait for a moment,

and there is something for you.

Royal highness, I will talk to you soon.

Your Royal Highness Xiang.

Royal highness.

What do you want, General Yuwen?

Are you alright?

Is Xing'er alright?

It's so kind for General ask this,

everything is fine.

I call to pay respect to Father.

It's not necessary to be over courteous.

Come on, accompany me for a while.

Thank you, Father.

Father.

Nowadays, there are full of chaos caused by war,

and accident-prone times.

I feel really gratified to see

that you have suppressed the rebellion

as the deputy commander in chief.

Thank you, Father.

I didn't just

pay a compliment to you.

I just have stated the facts.

During the hundred years,

it's a commonplace

to see the regime changing.

I would feel suspense

for whoever

holding the military power.

But you

are my son,

and you are the one I trust most.

Thank you, father.

When I sentenced

Yan Shicheng,

everyone agreed with me,

except for Yuwen Yue and you.

You had no relation with Yan Shicheng.

You didn’t know Yan Xun

that well.

I realised back then

you were

the most loyal person

among them.

I was too young and naïve.

I couldn’t help you

deal with those troubles.

I also wrote to you several times.

I am so sorry.

You did nothing wrong.

This is why I appreciate you.

You are honest

and straightforward.

Thank you, father.

The imperial mausoleum caught fire.

I am so worried.

You are back with honours.

Finally,

I have someone who can help me.

I don’t need to

work too hard any more.

Father, you are still vigorous.

I doubt I can be of much help.

Besides,

my Third Brother, Fifth Brother and Thirteenth Brother,

all of them are more capable than me.

I have this chance to get back to

your side,

listening to your words.

I am thrilled.

There is no need to humble yourself.

Among your brothers,

you are excellent

and sensible.

Soldiers on the order

already told me that

every time you go out to battle,

Your bravery and talent

are the key factors for us to win.

Everyone knows about

your achievement.

Don’t let me down

this time.

I shall do my best.

Stand up.

Thank you, father.

Ling time no see

How are you?

You asked this already

There were too many people around us

We were just being polite, but not necessarily honest

We are alone now

I am asking from the bottom of my heart

Everything is fine

Thank you for asking

I have been writing to you these two years

Have you received them?

I have been imprisoned

in that courtyard for all these years

I am bored all the time

However, it doesn’t mean

I would read whatever

is available

I did not have

any choice back then

When I received the news

Duke Dingbei was already dead

In order to save you

- I had to… - General

Look

Will the wind today make

the fire at the imperial mausoleum more violent?

Although I have nothing

to do all the time

it doesn’t mean

I am willing to sit down

with you

It is weird, though

I knew you had

nothing to tell

but I was still curious

I wished you would say

something I didn’t know

In fact

why don’t you just act like Zhao Xifeng

and Yuwen Huai

standing your ground firmly and betraying me?

At least

it would be better than your fake genuineness

You won the battle

and came back with honours

You have made alliance with

His Royal Highness Xiang

You are the upstart

in Chang’an

You better not spend time

with me, a prisoner

Your reputation is on the line after all

We better go back to our own places

Xing’er didn’t die

She is with you, right?

What?

Do you want to kill her again?

You just came back like this

Aren’t you afraid being caught by Yuwen Yue?

I already met him at the imperial mausoleum

We even got hold of each other’s sword

during the fight

If I could recoginise him

he would recoginise me as well

Since he already knew I wasn’t dead

why should I hide away from him?

Yuwen Yue was at the imperial mausoleum?

He was probably visiting Yuwen Huai

He just followed us

when we were noticed by him

Did he mention this

at court?

No, he acted as if nothing happened

Yuan Che was furious after hearing this

However, he didn’t say a word

He would rather Yuwen Huai die

than us

Since he is

back now

you need to be

more careful

He can’t be read easily

and cruel

He knows us both very well

We need to be careful from now on

Everyone around us is an enemy

He is no exception

His Majesty gave the imperial decreed today

I am no longer imprisoned here

I can go out freely now

Really?

Great

Don’t move

I am fine

You need to care about

your look more

No one at your age

is like this

If you continue to act this way

no one will marry you

I don’t want to get married anyway

Right

You don’t need to worry about that

What are you looking at?

You come straight to my place

from the court

Are you deliberately telling everyone that

we are partners now?

No matter what we do

or say

people will assume we are partners

Why don’t we just be straightforward?

Besides

Father did not object to our partnership

What are you afraid of?

Only Yuwen Huai is punished for the fire at the imperial mausoleum?

It is the first imperial decreed

The Zhao Household and the Wei Household

may also be in trouble

Is this why

His Majesty asked you to stay behind?

Of course not

He also complimented me

Do you believe that?

Why shouldn’t I?

I am his son

and I have made some achievements

I deserve it

Looks like

Your Royal Highness

still wants to go back to the border

That’s good

Chang’an is not a comfortable place to stay

I think staying at the border is better

(Laughing)

You…

Nothing can hide away

from you

My Third Brother is coming back

Father ordered people

to rebuild his place

even people not employed by the court previously

They are all busy at putting up installations

Although as soon as we came back

we were given military power

this grace

is huge as well

Think about when He left

Chang’an

Besides, he didn’t behave himself

in the east in the past two years

His Majesty only call him back

to balance out

your power

Back then

both of us were expelled

away from Chang’an

Now, both of us are coming back

Looks like the future is full of trouble

If you don’t want to get into any trouble, just don’t come back

Although “Chang’an” means peace

there is no peace in this city

You know this

Never mind

We will find a way to deal with whatever may happen

I was bad at scheming

so I was tricked

Now I have you

If anyone wants to trick me again

they will only get themselves into troubles

What do you think of

the fire at the imperial mausoleum?

What information do you have?

Not yet

Father is very worried about this

If you can find out the truth soon

it will definitely please him

Got it.

Yue’er,

you didn’t let me down.

After experiencing the war,

you are more calm and thorough.

Thank you.

I come back here today

to reinitiate the Eyes of God.

There is no rush.

The Eyes of God is just a distraction.

Spies are more important than the system.

As long as we still have those spies,

the Eyes of God

will regain its power someday.

(Laughing)

Miss Yu has brought those funeral objects

to the market.

We have made dozens of lines.

Some of them will

get us to the court.

When the time comes,

those funeral objects

which were immersed in water

are brought to His Majesty.

His Majesty is definitely going to be furious.

However,

it takes time.

Trade needs time.

It’s fine.

The more natural they become, the more trustworthy they are.

In that case,

why don’t we

make it bigger?

Why did you cut it off?

It worth a lot.

Really?

Of course.

I can make ten arrows,

twenty fine knives

and two pair of horse armors out of it.

Fine. Tell Feng Mian later.

Don’t send me useless things

like this.

I don’t need these.

It wasn’t for you.

It was for His Majesty

as his birthday present.

Would we just give him the root as the gift?

Prince. Miss Chu.

The meal is ready.

I am not hungry.

Has Your Royal Highness met Prince Yan Xun?

Yes, I have.

Good.

He looks fine,

but not as vigorous as before.

He is a different person now.

He almost died.

Of course, he would change.

What do you

think of Yan Xun then?

He was my old master. I still care about him.

However,

I won’t forget

what I am now.

What do you mean?

If Your Royal Highness wants to get rid of him,

I won’t try to stop you.

You are so cruel.

(Smirking)

He was unfortunate.

The ordinary people were more so.

I know him better than

Your Royal Highness does.

If Your Royal Highness could tell,

how could I not?

I won’t let Yan Xun go back to Yanbei.

Although the Yan Houseld

was framed,

for the Wei State,

and the people,

I won’t give him

any mercy.

I need to get rid of this threat.

I am afraid that

General Yuwen doesn’t think so.

I hope he will come around sooner.

Don’t let

me down.

(Sound of riding horses)

Put these over there.

Yes, Your Highness.

Move these now.

Yes, sir.

Chu.

Your Royal Highness Yu.

Your Royal Highness Yu.

Yan Xun,

where have you been these days?

I haven’t seen you for a long time.

I have missed you.

Your Royal Highness must have forgotten

we met a few days before.

Really?

Did we?

Why don’t I remember?

Chu, where have you been?

I went to the Oriole Courtyard

trying to find you several times,

but the guards always said you were out.

I needed to run some errands.

How I envy you.

You have the freedom to go wherever you like.

I went out

a few days ago as well.

I went drinking with

my Eighth Brother.

However,

father found out about it.

He wouldn’t let me get out for three days

and had me copy Tao Te Ching for two hundred times.

Two hundred times.

My arm was almost broken

You were punished just for go to a restaurant?

You must have done something else bad

I was taken by them

I didn't do anything

Yan Xun

I want to borrow A'chu for a while

You won't refuse, right?

I really appreciate it

Let's go. Hurry

A'chu

Yan Xun is fool. So are you!

Yuwen Yue

is here, too

If he sees you back

aren't you in trouble?

I've already met with him

What? He saw you?

Did he hurt you?

I am just a maid

Maybe he forgot me already

Not just any maid

Everyone remembers you

that day

at Jiuyou

However,

you and Yanxun are specially absolved by my father

He cannot do anything to you

Not to mention that, you also have me here

Is that why you find me?

Of course not

Another three months,

I can leave the palace

and have my own house outside the palace

I can marry my wife

Really?

Congratulations

Such an event

Why aren't you happy?

I am happy

You are not excited at all

I am excited

You are not even smiling

Not everyone show their happiness

on their face

I am happy in my mind

Have been smiling in my heart

repeatedly

You hahaha in you mind

I can't heard it

Because I did it in my mind

No way. Such an important event

You can't just smile in your mind

You must give me some present

Prince Yu

You want present from me

Aren't you asking too much?

In fact, not really

You can give yourself

to me

No

That is not what I mean

I am saying

When I can build my own house

outside the palace

you can come to live in my home

Your home?

No! The Yan where Yan Xun comes from

is too far away

And

too poor

The snow may last for half a year

Living there is too hard

No better than coming to my home

To be a maid

that can feed myself?

What are you talking about?

Did I ever treat you

as a maid?

A'chu

We have known each other

for so many years

Especially since we met this time

When and where

did I ever

treat you as a maid?

Forget it. I was just joking

You never made such joke

with Yan Xun

I'll leave

if nothing serious

Where are you going?

Back to be a maid

It's so remote here

with dangerous animals.

What if you are bitten and eaten?

I want to protect you

And

Yuwen Yue and Zhao Xifeng

are both here

Be careful

Have you heard my words?

Where is she?

Little rabbit

Why are you here alone?

Zhama, how should we count this one?

Which family do you belong to?

How could you move our prey?

I am not a servant from any family

Then you are, now

Isn't a prey

right here right now?

Let's compete another time

Good

Take the money and run fast

As fast as you can

I told you to run

Your arrow is fast

enough to shoot a running slave

Don't know

if you can shoot

a running horse?

Sure I can. I can even shoot down

a flying eagle

Not to mention a horse

Good

Then if I ride a horse,

can you shoot me down?

Zhalu, give him your horse

What?

I am asking you to give it to her

Here

Thank you

(Laughing)

Do you know how to ride a horse or not?

Maybe you are already kicked down by the horse,

before shoot down by me

OK, you can leave

Move fast

My.. My horse

She's just gone with it

Prince

Prince Yu had someone

to send a present

for A'chu

Put it there

The prince said I have to

handle the present to Miss A'chu myself

I shall leave

A'jing

Prince

Bring me the present

for the princess

Yes

Prince

This is made by a special kind of materiel in Nanjun

It's of the newest style

Unique and perfect in workmanship

The princess will like it

Miss A'chu

Whose horse is this?

Why is it hurt?

Leave it there

No need to tie it

It will leave itself

What happened? Trouble?

Nothing

What's this?

This is for you

For me?

Wh... Why are you giving me this?

Someone else gave it to me

I think it fits you well

Do you like it?

Surely yes, it's your present for me

It's just I haven't wear

clothes for female for a long time

When will I have the chance to wear it?

You will

The majesty

have remitted me now

and I am not rounded

any more

You can wear it as your wish

By the way,

this is your present from Prince Yu

From Yuan Song?

Clothes again?

Yeah

But the color

is of his taste

I still think the one you gives me

is prettier

Get away

Who are you?

Humble slave

Can't even recognize me?

No use

to keep your eyes

I'll dig it out for you

Let go

You really are here

Who I thought is here?

The wolfing from Yan

Yan Xun, haven't seen you a long time

Your whole family is died

while you staying under the roof of

your enemy

hiding

You are more tolerant

than the whole world

Princess Zhama

I am not here for you today

This little servant

offended me just now

I want to punish him now

How do you want to

punish her?

Haven't decided yet

But

I won't bother you too much

How much should I pay to take your slave?

I'll double the price

How about I pay you

ten times of the price

to let go of this?

Yan Xun, be clear

It's mercy of me

to put you aside

Now you want

to offend me for a servant

Not to say it's you here

Even the majesty is here today

I will not

give her to anyone

And, she is not a servant

Interesting

Another affectionate person from Yan

Yan Shicheng offended the majesty

for Bai Sheng in the past

That's why he ended like this

Seems like the Yan family can never revive

No need for the others to take action

The only one left here

is a gay

(Laughing)

Yan Xun, you think I am asking

for your permission?

Why don't you

have a think of your identity?

I will take this slave

with me today

Not only will I take her,

I will also torture her till the death

right in front of you

Let's see what you can do to me

Turns out to be a woman

A good-looking one

Yan Xun, the royal hunt will last for another few days

Take good care of your little maid

Or she could be caught

and chopped into paste

Let's go

Your highness

Everything fine?

Yes

Something happened

I know

That Zhama is so domineering

Who do you think that person is?

Likely to be

one of my maids before

Maid?

Yes

You changed your sword

Come with me

to the party tonight

Me?

Yes

I worry Zhama is here

to arouse trouble

If I weren't here and you are limited by your identity

you would get bullied and hurt

Then I can hide in that case

So big the hunting field is

She won't find me

You can't hide forever

You showed your face just now

In less than an hour

all the families will know it

Better to just show up tonight

You can

wear this after a while

I wear dress for female?

Why can't you?

The time is different now

It's not three years ago,

now

I have the jade pendant given by the majesty

All the families have to

think about it before act

Have you heard the news?

The maid following Yan Xun

wasn't died

She has been hiding

staying besides Yan Xun

Are you talking about

the bedchamber of Yuwen Yue,

Xing'er?

That's her

Everyone is discussing

about this now

Great

If she died like that,

weren't that too easy for her?

I finally have a chance

to kill her on my own

How about tomorrow?

That's fine for me

Let's set off together tomorrow morning

Clean-cut. Do not leave evidence.

Leave it to me

Please do not be

too reckless

This is the royal hunt

Ambassadors from all countries gather here

Are you going to do it

right in front of the majesty?

What if you are found out?

So what?

He is just someone guilty

Killing him

is same as

killing an ant

Don't forget the majety

has given him a jade pendant

His identity and status are

no longer the same

Do you understand?

Yes

They are different in just three years

If we do not take action now,

it will be too late

Brother Shuyou,

I have several beautiful girls in my camp

waiting for me

I should leave now

Arrange the action tomorrow

Goodbye

Leave it to me

(Laughing)

Haven't you been clear

now?

Who is the most rising family now?

The family of Zhao

Zhao Xifeng always wants to

kick us, the Wei family down

The concubine

that the majesty like most

is also from Zhao family

He will take her only,

to the hunt tomorrow

If something happens tomorrow...

blame all these things on family Zhao

Make them out scapegoat

As for me, brother,

you are too kind

to achieve

Good!

Good! Good! Good!

Good! Good! Good!

What?

Why don't you wear

the dress that I gave you?

I think this one looks good

No, not at all

It doesn't fit you at all

I think it fits me pretty well

Yan Xun, doesn't this dress

unfit her?

I also think, it fits her well
