All language subtitles for 104 Boolean Intersect Application

This is tutorial number 104 and it covers the Boolean intersect application within KT of E5.

To start off, open up tutorial part number 104 which is located on the DVD.

So what I'm going to show you is kind of an application of the Boolean intersect.

And what that is is say you have a part such as this and you need it to fit in a certain envelope.

So you've already got your part in what it should look like and you want it to fit into the envelope.

What you can do is create two bodies, one being your original and another being the envelope that you want your body to fit in.

And by using the intersect you're able to create your body to fit into that envelope.

So to do this let's create a new body so let's click insert, click body,

double click on it, click the top face here and click sketch and we're going to make our envelope.

So let's click this circle here, click construction and let's project it and we're going to use it in our sketch.

So let's click the profiles here, let's get the elongated hole.

So we'll start it up here, bring it down to go here and open it up.

Now let's click the dimension tool and let's make some dimensions here.

So let's make, or actually the dimensions already there.

So let's double click this one and let's make it seven.

Click okay.

And let's dimension the length here.

Let's dimension the length of this guy, let's make it 60.

And let's dimension the position here.

So this guy to this line here.

And let's make it 1.5.

Actually sorry, let's make it three.

And now we've got it pretty much in the position we want.

Let's go back and from this, let's click the pad.

We'll do a mirror extents and let's make it 1.50.

Click okay.

And now we created our envelope that's going to go through our part.

So now what we're going to do is we're going to use that Boolean intersect.

And by using these two parts, we're going to create a part that is from say our original design

and it fits into the envelope that we want.

So let's click insert.

Boolean operation intersect.

We'll click the second body and the part body.

Click okay.

And now we have an intersect of the two.

So this is going to shave it off and just put it into that envelope that we requested.

So this tool allows you to have say like an original design like we did,

then get an envelope and kind of bring the two together to meet the design criteria.
