so he’s somebody

that I’ve always looked up

but when I finally got

I couldn’t help but think what
I went through with my divorce.

My marriage ended
after 24 years,

and there is a sense
that we could have had it all.

There was a period of time
where it was just pain

and sorrow
that was inescapable.

But eventually,
you got to get up.

This moment for me
at "The Voice,"

for my kids to see
that Dad is back.

He’s not afraid to go
for something again.

Like, that’s what
I want them to see.

When my daughter
came out on stage,

it’s definitely one
of the top moments of my life.

I’m so grateful to be happy,

Before the blind audition,

I was working on cruise ships
with my girlfriend.

I work as a guest entertainer.

I actually met my girlfriend
in rehearsals.

And from there, that "showmance"
kind of blossomed.

I was able to make
my own show --

well, with my girlfriend.

So, everything from costumes
to songs, we’ve built.

I’ve been lucky enough to travel
to a lot of different places,

and I think in those travels,
I’ve always been searching for

who I want to be as an artist.

When I first heard

that I was going to sing

it was like,

for a really long time.

where labels wanted to sign

Marina City, my band,
and we almost did it,

but there was something
that felt off.

We’ve been through the wringer
in this industry.

on not signing early on

all paid off, because I’m here.

I have had situations in my life

Had a very hard time

an incredible husband.

He is extremely supportive
of me and my career,

You can tell it’s somebody
who’s done the work.

it’s a cool feeling, honestly.

for us as songwriters
