All language subtitles for 002 Before we Get Started - Ableton Live Packs

OK, so the next thing I want to cover before we get started is the Packs. And Packs contain a number

of different things that can help you when creating music.

They contain downloadable sounds, instruments and effects presets.

And the packs are also made specifically for use in Ableton Live.

So you can download the packs either from your Ableton Live project or from the official Ableton site.

So in the library under "Places" we can select packs and if we scroll down, you'll notice it will say

available packs.

And if we hit this disclosure triangle here, it will show us any available packs we can download inside

Ableton Live. We can also head over to the Ableton site to download more packs as well.

And in the Ableton site here, you can see the different packs that are available. Many of these are included

in Ableton Live Suite and some of them are also included in Ableton Live Standard as well.

Some of these packs are paid, but there are also some that are included in Suite and Standard. Or

you can go up to where it says free.

And here you can view and download some of the free packs.

So let me just download this one here called Vibrations, and all we need to do is click to download.

Like I said, there are some paid packs.

But I'm just going to download this one here, which is included in my edition of Ableton Live, which in

this case is Ableton Live Suite.

I'm also using a Mac, but the process on Windows is very similar.

I'm just installing this now, then this pack will appear in Ableton Live.

And you can see now this new pack has appeared.

And I've got different demo projects, drums, effects racks, MIDI clips, samples and sounds.

So this pack gives me a lot to work with. You can make music without all of these packs, however,

certain packs will be more appropriate for certain genres or styles of music.

So I recommend you have a look and see if there are any packs that you like the sound of.

And if you want to follow along step by step in this course and use the exact same packs as me, then

I do recommend downloading some of the packs which I'll be using throughout this course.

Obviously, you don't need to follow along with the exact packs as me, but you have the option

if you download these packs. In the first few sections of this course, I will try to only use the packs

that are included with Ableton Live just to make it easier to follow along.

So these are sounds that are available for people using all editions of Ableton Live.

So Lite, Intro, Standard and Suite.

Later in this course, when we cover more advanced features such as additional instruments and effects,

I will only be using packs that are available for Ableton Live Suite.
