Hi, I'm Cork in Neufeld,

and I'm the candidate for the BC Conservative Party in

the Abbotsford West Riot.

The BC Conservative Party's common sense plan

for British Colombians completely aligns with my

personal values and commitments.

In my 15th year as a school board trustee,

I have never witnessed the concern the community,

especially the Indo-Canadian community,

has had on an issue such as soji sexual orientation

and gender identity, and the learning resource SOJI 1 23.

That is why I am running for the BC Conservative Party

because we wanna address this issue.

This is not a local school board issue.

This is a provincial issue, and there's three reasons why.

In July of 2016 BC Liberal party,

which is now the United Party, embedded

soji into the human rights code.

Secondly, in December, 2016, the Ministry of Education

legislated to all 60 school boards across the province

to embed Soji into their anti-bullying policy.

Then they hired the ARC Foundation

and UBC to create a learning resource called Soji 1, 2 3.

This allows teachers

to teach Soji in the classroom from

kindergarten to grade 12.

And finally, the BC Teachers Collective Agreement gives

teachers autonomy in the classroom,

which means they have the right to choose the material.

They have the right to choose the learning resource.

This is why it's not a local school board issue.

They've taken the authority right out of our hands,

and that's why I'm running for the BC Conservative Party

because we want to address this issue.

Much like the other provinces in Canada have done such

as Saskatchewan, new Brunswick,

and more recently, premier Daniel Smith from Alberta.

Legislated parental rights over this

ideology in the schools.

Schools need to be places of learning, not

of social activism.

Whose children are these? They're not the governments.

They're not the Ministry of Educations,

and they're not the local unions.

They're the parents and guardians children.

So let's get back to the ABCs, reading, writing,

and arithmetic, extracurricular activities and play,

and let's let kids be kids.
