Episode 21

Where's Kim Seung Yoo?

I cannot answer that question.

Tell me the truth! Where is Kim Seung Yoo?

I said I cannot tell you.

Will you answer me

when you see those who'd harbored you and Kim Seung Yoo losing their heads before your eyes?!

Do you want to shed yet more innocent blood?

How much longer are you going to continue your bloody vice?

Will your sins have to be visited upon your children

for you to mend your ways?

You... Are you trying to team up with Kim Seung Yoo to kill me?

If you want to cut your ties to me so badly, okay, I will sever them for you.

Officer Shin, come in!

There will not be a wedding between you and a princess.

You're no longer a princess.

From now on, you're...

Officer Shin's slave.

Your Highness...!

Your Majesty, please don't make her a slave...!

How can you make your own child a slave?

How can a girl who colludes

with my enemy's son to kill me be my child?!

Since she wishes to sever her ties with me, I will grant her wish!

Head Eunuch, hurry and summon a royal secretary.

Your Majesty, please calm down.

Your Majesty...

This is the king's order!

Summon him this minute!

Yes, Your Majesty.

Why aren't you saying anything?

Hurry and ask forgiveness from your father!

Your Highness!

Hurry, admit that you were wrong!

Forget it.

It's been done.

Your Majesty.

Your Majesty!

How can you just stand there watching?

You have to make His Majesty change his mind!

When I come back today,

we will be able to leave this place soon afterwards.

Come back safely. I will be waiting for you.

Hyungnim! Hyungnim!

What if that Hyung gets into a scrape like that?

Let's go after him!

Your Majesty.

Please assuage your anger.

Father.

Please calm down.

How come you are out here when you're sick? Go back inside.

This will become a big scar to you, Your Majesty.

Please take back your order!

What are you waiting for? Won't you drag her out of here now?!

How come you're dressed like that?!

Won't you kneel before your father this minute?!

Unnie, beg for his forgiveness now.

Noonim.

How come you won't answer?!

Are you going to go against your father until the end?

Blinded by your love for him, you don't even think about your parents and siblings?

An ungrateful child!

When I loved you so much...

I have already severed blood ties with you, Father.

I will cast away the name Lee Se Ryung

and live the life of a nameless slave.

Your Highness...!

Se Ryung!

Royal Secretary, hear me!

Yes, Your Majesty.

I shall strip the Princess of her rank and position and bestow her on Officer Shin as his slave!

Bind her so that the slave cannot run away and drag her away!

Aigoo, this awe-ful guy!

Lest you might climb over the palace wall,

I've chased after you frantically!

Following you around, hyungs, I won't be able to live out my full life!

Then, die, punk!

Heartless Hyung!

I should not have left her behind.

What can happen to her when she is a princess?

Didn't she say she would come back no matter what?

She's more than capable of it.

Let's go back.

And let's look for a way.

Stop.

Let's go.

Aigoo, cold...

Look here!

Please don't kill me!

I beg you, please don't kill me!

Who are you?

Dae Ho...

I'm here to see Dae Ho.

Who sent you?

The Royal Consort has.

Look at this fella!

How can we believe that?

Hyungnim.

Even his looks are unpleasant. I think he's a Hansung Bureau spy.

Let him go.

This is Jong's handwriting.

Grand Prince Keum Seong and the Royal Consort are putting together a force.

If we enlist the Artillery Unit and their cannons as well

we will be able to do something big.

So what do you propose to do?

I will go to Kwangju to see Jong.

This is urgent. I must make as much haste as possible.

The reason you're making such haste...

Is that simply for the great cause?

You want that Princess Noonim back urgently, right?

I've been inside your mind.

This has happened because of me.

I don't have the face to look at you, Hyungnim.

Don't tickle me! There is no need for that between us.

We don't know when the Hansung Bureau soldiers will storm this place again.

Hyung, you take our family and go into hiding.

Go hide by whose permission?

I worked to death to open this business up.

I won't leave this place even if it kills me. So only those who want to leave, leave.

Cho Hee!

I'm not going anywhere either.

I'm going to stay by your side, Unnie.

Me too. I won't go to any rustic place!

What are you going to do

if soldiers come and destroy this place again?

If they do, I will make repairs again. Tell them to try a hundred times, I'll never give this place up.

We're going to be fine. Oppa, on the other hand, should take the extra mouths and hide.

I'll let you know the minute anything seems amiss.

Thank you.

Don't mention it.

Your Highness...!

How come Your Highness is...

Escort her to the guest room.

She's a noble lady, you must serve her with all your heart.

No.

I come here not as a Princess anymore,

so you don't have to do that.

Escort her.

Come in for a minute.

How could he lose his composure to this extent?

When she was such a darling child to him...

All this is because Kim Seung Yoo is alive.

Because of him, His Majesty is feeling insecure!

As soon as Kim Seung Yoo is caught,

all this trouble will go away.

If the princess remains a slave for good...

What are you going to do about it?

Since I let her into my house, she is already

my woman.

I told them to bring suitable clothes for you.

When his wrath subsides,

His Majesty will call you in again.

If you bow your head and tell him that you were too much,

you will be able to get his pardon.

So stay here just for a few days.

Since I don't think I've done anything wrong,

our father-daughter relationship is beyond repair.

Then,

are you saying you will really live as a slave?

It will be uncomfortable for you, Officer Shin, to work me as a slave.

Why don't you rather give me away as a public slave?

Do you hate

being next to me so much?

Even at the degradation, not begging for forgiveness but willingly leaving the palace...

Was that all to return to Kim Seung Yoo?

I don't want to hear

his name from your mouth.

Listen well to what I say!

I won't let you see Kim Seung Yoo again!

You are...

No longer a Princess.

You are...

My object.

You must never allow anyone in here!

Maintain a strict watch so that not an ant can enter!

Casting away Se Ryung was not

your real intention. I know that well.

You're mistaken.

It was my true intent.

After some time, she will repent.

After all, she's always been a daddy's girl.

She must have learned her lesson by now.

You should call her back in a few days.

Please stop torturing yourself.

How would a child know all the love her parents have toward her?

Did I do so wrong?

What... are you talking about?

I am asking whether I did something so wrong

that even my darling child would turn her back to me?

Your Majesty.

What?!

Kim Seung Yoo?

Are you saying His Majesty degraded the princess because of Kim Seung Yoo?

Then,

are you saying those two were really lovers?

Because His Majesty flew into a rage,

it seems all the court ladies and ladies-in-waiting heard the story!

Uh huh! How could this sort of thing have happened...

His Majesty must be

truly in a foul mood!

Must be.

Ha! Of all people, the son of his mortal enemy Kim Jong Seo!

Just hearing about it gives one the shudders!

Come hell or high water,

we have to lop off Kim Seung Yoo's head.

That's the only way to return to halcyon days.

It must work out that way.

Are you leaving?

You should teach this Unnie some letters before you go.

When we meet again, I will definitely teach you.

Take this and

you must grow into a pretty unnie like me.

Thank you.

To a child...!

Ah Kang.

Let's go!

Today, this Oppa will escort you.

Where is Cho Hee?

Hyungnim, do you think that Noonim will come out just to see a child off?

This Ahjussi will take you.

Uncle has some business to take care, so will come later.

Wait, okay?

Don't cry because I'm not here.

With people you'll see again, you are not to cry at good-byes.

Please take care of my uncle.

Alright! Don't worry about your uncle, okay?

This Ahjussi will bring him to you in no time.

Yes.

Are you going to go see the Royal Consort?

Yes.

Until I come for you, please stay safe.

Don't worry about us, but have a safe trip. It's a long way.

Then, I'll be going.

You must take what belongs to you, though.

What is so urgent that you wouldn't even stop to get your wages?

No need to thank me because I'm giving you what you've earned.

You... Let's meet again.

Thank you very much for

treating us like family.

Hey, that Noonim knows how to smile!

Didn't she take her meal?

I'm afraid not.

Teacher, why are you doing this?

Doing this, because of me, you will...

To hell with danger!

Follow me.

Only if I could lean on someone,

I would be able to fall asleep peacefully.

When I come back today, we will be able to leave this place soon afterwards.

Please come back safely.

I will be waiting.

The food was good. Come again!

Why?

Are you worrying about that person in the palace again?

Let's go.

Did you make a decision?

Young Master.

Even though alive, I was not really living.

Now, I must choose the path for which

I won't be ashamed before General Kim Jong Seo when I see him hereafter.

Thank you.

These are all who had served under General Kim Jong Seo whether for a long or short time.

They will gladly join us.

In Cholla and Kyungsang Provinces, a force is being put together already.

I will personally visit those places and

decide on the D-Day.

After our soldiers stage a coup and

eliminate the Hansung Bureau which guards the capital,

we will need your help.

With the Artillery Unit's cannons leading the way,

we will head toward Gyeongbok Palace (King's residence).

Until you return, we'll prepare as many cannons as possible.

We have to expedite the coup as much as possible.

Please make haste with your preparations.

While I'm not here,

please look for this person

at Bing Ock Kwan at Mapo Pier.

I'm Jo Seok Joo.

After you come back,

I guess there will be an upheaval.

Come back safely.

Has the princess become a slave overnight?

How can he make his own daughter into a slave?!

His Majesty is unbelievable!

Hey there!

What did you just say?

What do you mean the princess became a slave?

The rumor has spread everywhere, haven't you heard?

His Majesty caught the princess who had left the palaceand then gave her away as a slave to his son-in-law-to-be.

Shin Myun...!!

Have you safely escorted him?

Yes.

By the way...

The princess becoming a slave overnight...

Does this make sense?

What do you plan to do?

I can't let her stay with that blackguard.

Are you saying you'll break into the house of a Hansung Bureau officer?

Small Hyung, that ain't the way!

Going into that house willy-nilly

is not the best thing to do.

We have to find a way to take the princess out of there safely.

Are you going to starve to death?!

I came here as a slave.

Don't confine me in the room,

but rather put me to work.

Are you really begging to be treated like a slave?

Do as I say.

Slaves are to follow their masters' orders.

Do I have to let others force your mouth open for you to listen?!

It's just like

facing my father.

Since I brought you to my house,

you have for sure become mine.

Still, as if you're not next to me...

I feel insecure.

Who are you?! It's an assassin!

It's Dae Ho! Dae Ho has appeared!

To save his love...

he has come all the way here on his own two feet...

No matter what, before your eyes

I will kill that bastard.

Where?

Dae Ho is headed toward the Sarangchae*.

That is where His Excellency (=Shin Sook Joo) is!

You guard this place.

You must never allow him in here!

Yes.

Kim Seung Yoo...

Have you walked into your own grave?!

Dae Ho...?

What are you talking about, when Dae Ho is...!

Another Dae Ho has appeared! Who is the real Dae Ho?!

Subtitles brought to you by PM Team @ viki.com

How... how did you come all the way here?

When I heard you were here,

I thought I was going crazy!

You must not let him slip away!

What on earth is going on?

Catch them!

Stop!

What did you say?

There is no doubt that it was Kim Seung Yoo.

Are you saying that Se Ryung followed Seung Yoo?

Yes.

Se Ryung, you finally...!

They could not have gotten far.

They'll be caught soon enough.

These brats...!

You must catch them and bring them before me!

If you can't drag them here, this time, you won't be able to get off scot free either.

Small Hyung, are you sure you'll be okay without me?

Thank you guys!

Come back safely.

Princess, you too.

How come...

you always come forward to help me

when you might lose your life that way?

Just because.

Aren't you even going to ask me where we're going?

It doesn't matter where.

Why are you stopping here? We can travel more.

If you hurt, that you feel hurt...

If you are tired, that you feel tired...

To me, you can say it.

My back hurts like crazy and riding the horse is also very tiring.

Would you like to

take a short break?

Yes.

We'll have to get a bonfire going first.

Why are you looking at me like that?

Is something on my face?

It's okay.

Subtitles brought to you by The Princess' Man at viki.com

If you follow me,

the road before you will be as thorny as it can get.

Even if it's one that leads to the otherworld, I'm fine with it.

We're on our way to see Princess Kyung Hye.

I'll see the Royal Consort and plan a coup with him.

Please pick up your spoon.

You need a full stomach in order to do anything.

From now on, I will not

hide anything from you.

You may come under danger because I'm with you.

If such danger comes...

abandon me whenever and go.

Don't say such a thing!

After all, we're on the same horse

bound for an unknown destination.

No matter where that end lies,

let's go together.

This finger...

This won't do!

I'll have to pay a visit to Bing Ock Kwan.

I understand that you're worried about Cho Hee Noonim.

But what are you going to do?

I can't relax because I left only women at that dangerous place.

You watch over Seung Yoo's sister-in-law and Ah Kang.

Return safely, Big Hyung.

Bye bye.

Leave!

I said leave!

What you want is me.

Let that woman go!

Why did you come back?

How could you come here?!

I told you not to come!

I told you you must not come!

Where is Kim Seung Yoo?!!!?

If you want to live, tell me.

If you tell me Kim Seung Yoo's whereabouts,

I will let you go.

You are mistaken about me.

Why don't you rather kill me?

If I betray my dongsaeng to get out of here alive,

I won't be able to live for the shame of it, anyway.

What does a hoodlum like you know about loyalty?

If you're really fine with dying...

then you can keep that faith of yours.

You cannot come in here!

Stop her!

Let go of me! Let me go!

She said she had something to say...

I know! Where that guy has gone to!

Cho Hee!

Promise me you'll let him go in one piece!

Then, I won't hold back anything and tell you.

I already gave him my word.

Are you out of your mind?!?!

Yes, I'm crazy!

Once was enough for me to think that you're dead! I won't go through it a second time!

I! I am going to save you no matter what!

No matter what!!

Cho Hee...!

Hurry up and say it.

Kim Seung Yoo...

has gone to Gwangju.

Jong.

He has gone to Jong.

Hurry and get ready!

Yes.

Thanks to this woman, you saved your life.

Abjectly...

It's fine if you don't forgive me.

The fact that you're alive... That's enough for me.

We'll go to the Royal Consort's place of exile.

Hurry!

Yes!

Wait here for a while.

Seung Yoo!

Let him go!

He is my friend.

The princess must be really happy to see you! Let's go in.

I came together with a person.

Together? Who?

Slave?

What are you talking about?

You father became bloodthirsty

and finally he must have gone crazy!

Making his own daughter a runaway slave!

What on earth

do you plan to do in the future?

She will be with me.

I worried a lot about you,

but seeing you at peace, my heart is eased.

Do I seem so? I guess that's good...

So that the two princesses can catch up,

why don't we leave them alone?

We have somewhere to go. I'll explain to you on our way.

I'll come back.

Yes.

Kim Seung Yoo...

Did he accept you?

Yes.

Your father...

What are you going to do about your father?

I'll be lying if I say my heart doesn't feel heavy.

But that pain... I will bear it on my own.

You do not

need to concern yourself with me feeling that way.

You have become really strong and mature.

Has love

changed you so much?

Despite your inner distress,

it is so nice to see you two together.

I don't want to hear

his name from your mouth.

A man and a woman of similar appearance

were here in the morning.

Let's go.

You don't have to worry.

This place lies somewhat outside of Sooyang's control.

The Mayor of Kwangju is a person who was demoted

because he fell out of favor of those close to Sooyang.

Even the soldiers at my place are not keeping a watch on me

but over me.

When he hears your plan, Seung Yoo,

the Mayor will be very happy too.

This is a letter of encouragement sent by

Grand Prince Keum Seong to the Royal Consort and

the heads of anti-Sooyang factions in Cholla Province.

Kyungsang Province seems to have finished its preparations for the coup.

In Cholla also,

most influential people are with me in this.

With so much help...

isn't this a war we can win?

In the capital city,

the Artillery Unit will join us.

If you say the Artillery Unit...

I feel as though we've gained thousands of cavalries on our side!

We want to hear your strategy, Lord Tactician!

It's important to start the coup

simultaneously in Cholla and Kyungsang Provinces.

Sooyang will be befuddled

as to where to send his soldiers first.

If the rebel forces from Cholla and Kyungsang Provinces assemble at Suwon,

I will escort His Majesty from Youngwol,

Kangwon Province and join you.

There, all forces will assemble and march into the capital city

and eliminate Hansung Bureau.

The job of felling the palace will be carried out by the Artillery Unit.

Truly, you are your father, General Kim Jong Seo's son.

It's a faultless strategy!

When would be a good D-Day?

I will personally see Grand Prince Keum Seong

and decide on the date.

Subtitles brought to you by Princess'Man team at Viki.com

You should've burned it.

Why did you bring it?

I will show this to Her Highness.

When she sees this,

how hopeful and joyful she'll become!

Pour me a cup, punk.

It tastes just like

the alcohol we used to drink when we were young and careless.

One more.

You can't.

The moonlight is the same as before,

but so many people have passed away...

At thoughts like this, I'm saddened and that's why (I need alcohol).

Just one more,

Please?

A person who'll soon become a father...

How can he be so weak?

Seung Yoo,

I...

What did I just hear?

Royal Consort, you've poured so much alcohol down your throat

that have you now become deaf?

She said you'd be a father soon.

No.

That is...

That... what did you say?

That I...

will become a father?!

Her Highness...

Is pregnant.

Really?

Is it true?

I think

the child in your womb

must be our good luck charm.

Since it brings me such joy

before the "big event" planned...

That I'll become a dad!

All of a sudden, I feel like

bowing down to all fathers in the world!

Subtitles brought to you by Princess'Man team at Viki.com

I thought I was going to die wanting to hold you.

I hope everyday can be

just as warm and leisurely

as today.

When the day dawns,

it will grow hectic again.

Because you'll be by my side,

I can bear it.

Why do you keep looking at me like that?

Because I feel like such a lucky guy.

When a royal consort has to stay at a place like this...

how can you say you're lucky?

If a man winning a woman he loves as his wife

and even having a child with her is not lucky, I don't know who is.

Do you prefer a boy

or a girl?

Whether a boy or a girl,

I wish the child would look like you, Your Highness.

Ah, this guy...!

When his Hyung couple are having a conversation, he should enter quietly!

I'll go out to see.

Hey, dude!

If you've returned, then you have. Why do you have to make so much noise...

This guy...

What brings you here?

Search!

Yes!

Won't you be quiet!

Her Highness...

is with a child.

Kim Seung Yoo must have been here.

Why did he come?

Seung Yoo has never been here.

If you are going to lie to me, do it after getting rid of the evidence.

How come there are two wine cups on that table?

Her Highness, who is pregnant, surely has not drunk it.

I understand your obsession with catching Seung Yoo.

But that cup was not Seung Yoo's,

but that of an acquaintance who was visiting me.

If I ask you who that acquaintance is,

you must already have a reasonable answer ready.

It's fine.

You are an untrustworthy punk anyway.

Do you even know what trust is, to blabber like that?!

No matter what you do,

I'm going to catch Kim Seung Yoo and kill him.

Whether it turns out the way you want,

why don't you try all you want, scum!

Se Ryung and Kim Seung Yoo must be walking the quiet lane.

Hurry and slip out through the rear door and tell them to leave this place at once!

You must tell them!

Where are you going in such a hurry?

Were you going to deliver a message to Kim Seung Yoo?

Closing your mouth won't solve this problem.

If you don't talk, don't you know your mistress willl pay for it?!

No, she must not.

Tell me.

Where is Kim Seung Yoo?

Didn't I tell you I don't know? Even if I knew

do you think I will tell you?

Sir.

The lady-in-waiting has opened her mouth.

Kim Seung Yoo is still in the vicinity.

Comb through the entire area!

Yes.

That friendship of yours...

is so sturdy, isn't it?

You, scum!

Wait here for a while.

What's the matter?

Shin Myun is here.

I will be back soon.

Please.

Never.

Don't ever come out.

What happened?

Has the coup been found out?

Soldiers have come from the capital

to catch me.

They will question the royal consort.

What should we do?

Don't worry.

The consort will rather die than open his mouth.

I think we should reconnoiter what's going on at the royal consort's place.

Let's do so.

Is that you teacher?

Kim Seung Yoo!

I know you are here.

You are not one to abandon your lover and friend and to run away!

This wretch!

That scallywag! I'm going to see him ripped from limb to limb.

I feel sorry for Seung Yoo

and I feel sorry for you too.

Tomorrow is...

his execution day.

Tonight...

He said he'd go to the royal consort.

He must not go.

How...?

Do as I say!
