before its transformation.

grip and crawl up those stems.

And they sure look hungry.

They have to stay well-fed
for their metamorphosis.

It's like
when superheroes transform.

That's got to tickle.

It's looking for a plant
to match its colors.

- Huh?
- To blend in with its surroundings.

Is the caterpillar going to sleep?

Not yet.

First, it's got to anchor
a thread of silk.

And then it will start making
its chrysalis.

Oh, I get it.

It's gonna transform into a butterfly.

Yup, exactly.

Look at that.

They're getting ready
to show us their new wings.

This one looks like it's coming out
of a sleeping bag.

So does this one.

Hello there.

System's ready. Antennas, check.

Wings, check.

We have lift off!

Wow!

If I were a butterfly, I'd be proud
of myself for flying on my first try.

Metamorphosis takes a lot of energy.
These butterflies need to refuel.

This one looks like
it's drinking out of a straw.

That's cool, isn't it?

This butterfly drinks while it's flying,

but the other butterfly drinks
while it's sitting down.

Now they're ready to explore.

If I were an animal, I'd wanna be
a cheetah in the African Savanna.

But why does the momma cheetah carry
her babies like that, Tim?

Kittens have extra skin
on the back of their neck

so their mom can grab them
when she needs to.

That doesn't look comfy at all.

Let's call this guy Charlie.

-Looks like milk for breakfast.
- That's right.

Like all mammals, cheetahs drink
their mom's milk when they're babies.

But what about when they grow up?

She teaches them to hunt.

Lesson number one, locate the target.

Cheetahs are the fastest mammal
on the planet.

Dinner time, kids.

That's just how it works
in the Savanna. There's vultures.

lesson which was a success.

mom's gonna be spotless.
