but your Lego adventure

Tonight...

A mega city build!

...the most spectacular
builds of the season

push the teams
to their breaking points.

- Are you upset with me?
- Yeah.

And one monumental disaster...

- ...changes everything.

Wow, how'd you negotiate that?

I have a huge head, and it won't come
anywhere close to fitting on my head.

Construction worker.

We're just coming out of the bottom
two for the last two challenges.

Wow, okay.

So we want to make sure
we really are listening to

the Brickmasters'
words of wisdom

from the very beginning.

And stop right there.

- This
is an active construction zone.

Even when we're trying
to make a TV show!

Can we turn it down?

So rude.

We're definitely not wearing
these hard hats--

well, they are--
and standing in front

of scaffolding just to present
this week's challenge

in a big and exciting way.

I mean, for us to commit so
fully to something like this,

the challenge
would have to be huge.

It would have to be
something like...

a mega city build!

- Boom.
- Yeah!

So welcome to Mega
City, population-- you.

We got 14 city blocks
in this metropolis,

but only seven
have been developed.

It's up to you
to complete this city.

Each team gets one vacant block,

and you can do whatever
you want with it.

We're gonna take
this challenge down.

I'm excited.
This is what I know.

It's about time.

I've built cityscapes before.

My largest building
was five feet tall,

and I won an award for it.

Neither of us have ever
built a building,

so we are definitely at a
disadvantage in this challenge.

Your buildings
should never be boring.

This is a challenge about size,

so these have to be mega cities.

We're halfway
through the competition now,

and everyone has really
stepped up their game.

It's really coming down
to those small details,

so I'm really gonna be looking
for how you populate the city,

both on the ground
and in the buildings,

to really bring
that city to life.

Now, listen, builders,

this is
an elimination challenge.

You've got 14 hours
to make your city come alive.

On my call,
grab the city block of your choice

and start building.

So we got two sides.

Okay, well, like a foreman,

I think you guys
have got it from here,

and I'm probably just
going to go sit in my truck.

What if the beanstalk starts
down here and we kind of go

all the way up through it
and it goes all the way up?

For Mega City challenge,
we're gonna build Fairytale Tower,

two buildings with a giant vine
growing up between them.

And we're gonna
have great fairytales

like "Jack And The Beanstalk,"
"The Three Little Pigs."

And little old lady
who lives in a shoe.

It's gonna be awesome.

- Brickmasters, here we are.
- Yes.

- Yeah.
- Refreshed.

What's the challenge this week?

Pretend I don't know
anything. Not hard.

This is the biggest
model that they've built yet,

so we want to see that scale,
we want to see that size.

This is a wonderful opportunity

for them to show off
their architecture skills.

It can be so many shapes.

There's curves,
there's triangles.

If you're
a geometry fan like me,

it can be a lot of fun.

We have an amazing selection
of bricks here.

- Yeah.
- And there's so many ways

that you can steer that architecture
so it becomes something more detailed,

so there's really no excuse
for it to be blocky.

Do a big shopping center.
We can build a mall. We can build--

What if it's a big stack
of food carts?

- It's like a giant food court.
- Yes!

- I feel a double high-five coming up.
- Ready?

Yep.

We are building food carts.

There's going to be one original
food cart from the '60s,

but the popularity has caused

an entire tower of food carts
to grow up behind it.

All these food pods,
we're gonna build the ultimate city block.

Mark and I have been friends
for a number of years,

and it's like we can
just dive into a challenge.

- I'm gonna go get a bunch of wheels.
- Yes!

And it's like
we understand each other.

I can't imagine being here
with anybody else.

I'm feeling good about this.

The Brickmasters
have told us explicitly

this challenge is about scale,

and we're gonna bring something
really massive to the table.

Aaron and Christian, how do you
feel about this challenge this week?

- So excited.
- This is something I've been wanting to do

since I was a little boy,
you know?

Who doesn't want
to build a giant city?

- Like a big skyscraper?
- Of course.

I was a Lego fan as a kid,
of course.

And then to be able

to experience it again
is amazing.

They're looking for height.

To see these builders
be given a challenge

and build something
so incredible,

it's pretty rad.

This is something you guys
could do really well.

- You're both great technical builders.
- Thanks, Will.

We're building
a sustainability block.

The tallest tower is going to be
the model of eco-friendly living.

Next door to it is going to be
a much older building

that is being renovated.

I think that's really,
really cool. Wait, what?

What's that, little fella?

"I miss the Golden Brick."

He misses the Golden Brick.

- Poor guy.
- Aww. Is he gonna get it back?

Is it up for grabs
this challenge?

I keep trying to go
to commercial,

but they won't let me.

- Ooh, clear.
- It's been an hour

and I've only got a shoe done.

- I can tell it's a shoe.
- Okay, that's good enough then.

- Let's go on to the next thing.
- All right, do apple?

We'll start getting
an idea here.

Buildings are not my expertise,

so we're gonna go outside
the box and do something

that's really gonna wow
the Brickmasters.

We're gonna do the Tri-Scraper.

It will have three towers
spiraling up to the sky,

one for medical,
police, and fire.

This is really gonna
showcase technical ability.

Tyler and Amy are going all in

on this really
complicated geometry,

and I love the complexity of it.

But making a building
that has such complex shapes

actually stay together
and hold all the way up,

this could be
their biggest challenge yet.

Nobody else is doing
crazy geometry,

and it's gonna be like,
"My!"

But what if it's more kind of
like an adventure complex?

We are building
four themed towers.

We have a tropical rainforest,
a fun in the sun beach,

a winter wonderland,
and we have a fantasy forest.

I am pretty excited about it.

- That is a lot going on.
- You're gonna have to do a lot.

I'm looking
for Mel to take the lead

because he has more experience
in creating buildings than I do.

We gotta build tall.

Most of my buildings
are gonna be skyscrapers.

My plan is splitting
the city up,

but together
we're gonna flourish.

- Hey. How you doing?

I want to see color today, so I brought
the color with me to inspire everyone.

- Nice.
- So tell us about it.

So we're doing
a winter theme in the city.

Skyscrapers are gonna
surround the plaza.

We're gonna
have a ton of minifigures

having winter fun,
building snowmen,

and hanging out
in the ice skating rink.

We have floors that are
too far off of each other

once you get past
the ground floor.

Make sure that
the whole thing feels like

it's one complex
coming together.

- Thank you so much.
- 'Cause we both love sci-fi,

we're gonna have this
dystopian cyberpunk city.

And we're gonna have
this corporate building,

this movie theater,
self-driving taxis,

and a place where
everyone gets along.

We ain't done
till these bricks are gone.

So the reason we have a big
black building on the bottom

is because we wanted
to have the neon light

really decorative
around the edges.

So we're taking a big risk
with the colors,

but I'm really thinking that
this neon is going to be awesome.

I could just do regular purple.
Yeah, I can just do that.

- How are we gonna decorate these?
- Decorate 'em?

- You won't even see 'em.
- I just think there needs to be

nothing in our city that
looks like a stack of bricks.

Don't think I'm going
to just leave blank pillars,

but they are very
just structural.

We are building a tower
of basically food carts.

We can't ignore design
as we're building structure.

- All right.

I got all excited about this,

and now it's like
I don't feel like

we have the clear vision
or whatever.

This is an architecture
challenge where everybody

is gonna try to show off
beautiful looking stuff.

I was just trying to get
something up so we could start--

- we have a lot to do.
- We can talk about that

- if you want to talk about it now.
- Well, we have nothing built.

I feel like
we're spiraling downhill here.

So to build
this mega city block...

...they have 14 hours
to complete this build.

we have the clear vision
or whatever.

Mark and Boone seem to be having a
little bit of an issue, as it were.

- Yes. - Are they fighting
right now? What's going on?

We have nothing built.
I feel like we're spiraling downhill here.

We are building a tower
of basically food carts,

but we're having a disagreement.

In my head, this was like
a parking garage structure.

The sides are gonna be module,
clean architecture.

Trust me. Just trust me.

We are too far
into this challenge

to be as far behind as we are.

So our structure will be
more or less like this.

Now is the time
to let Mark build,

and I'll lean into storytelling

as we create this large build.

How are we gonna decorate these?

- I can greeble around them
with leaves and stuff. - Okay.

Lego Learn about greebling.

Greebling is when you use lots of
small pieces on a bigger surface

to bring texture and detail.

"greebling" greebling.

Yeah, like we do
on the door here.

- Exactly.
- This is world-class greebling.

You see how they have the minifigure
heads and lots of other pieces

- that at first are a bit hidden.
- Yeah.

The best example is when
you can't see it right away.

You actually have to look closer.
Let's go do some greebling.

- Cool. Let's do that.
- Get our greeble on.

These two,
the architecture masters.

- We try our best.
- Whoo, I love that.

There's a lot of floors.

In our
sustainability city block,

we're gonna do a 14-story build

because it's important
in this mega city challenge

to stand out with something
that is truly mega,

and we want to have the
tallest building on the street.

The tallest building.

Are we gonna get
a little bit more

minifigure storytelling in this?

We're gonna have 14 stories
of this kind of windows.

So inside of each one of these is
going to be a little pocket of story.

I'm also excited by something that
starts to look like an elevator.

This is gonna be
an elevator, yeah.

It's an ambitious concept,

but I think we can get it done
in the time that we have.

- Seven hours left.
- Seven hours!

- We're halfway through our
mega city challenge. -

Even a few hours in, it seemed like you
were still figuring out the geometry.

There was a lot of preplanning
went into this, and now I see why.

Yes. Planning,
planning, planning.

- We are the planners.
- That is pretty rad.

- It really catches your eye.

My gosh.
How is time just, like, slipping by?

So our plan is to create
this dystopian cyberpunk city.

Girl, I'm loving this,

but I'm also nervous
'cause I loved our last build.

We've been in the bottom two
the past two challenges.

The Brickmasters didn't see the
story that we see in our minds,

and we're really hoping that we don't
have to describe our build in words.

It says them in bricks.

I want to go big,
but I gotta get this base structure done.

We're seeing a lot of builds popping
up with lots of height already.

And we don't have that much
height right now,

so we have a lot of making up
to do for our late start.

- How's it going?
- We had a rough start.

But we are so jiving
on our new idea.

You guys are kind like
the couple after a big fight

- and this is your makeup build.
- Yes, that's exactly right.

It kind of is like that.

- So, talk me through it.
- This is Pop's.

- That's Pop's.
- Food cart got so popular

he had to open
another food cart.

Eventually, the food carts
are just flying sky high.

Where we come from,
Portland, Oregon,

- food carts are a huge deal.
- Of course.

So it reminds us of home.

I like the way
that your idea for your build

is coming out of
a strong sense of story.

- I'm pulling for you.
- Yeah.

In this mega city challenge,
one of the focuses

- is going all the way up.
- All the way up.

Height. We just gotta go,
go, go, go, go for height.

This challenge
is all about scale,

so we are going
really, really big.

- Man, your buildings are beautiful, bro.

I'm working on large buildings

in the shape
of actual Lego bricks.

- Yes.
- And Mel's working on

the orange and the blue building

and his huge glass tower.

So you wanna go
about securing it?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

And I'm trying to come up
with more strategies

to get the extra height because I
want to beat Aaron and Christian.

Gentlemen, how is everybody
feeling right now?

- Fantastic.
- Good. Really good.

You guys are killing it
in the color department.

- Not that you're not.
- Our most colorful building is...

- All right, fair enough.
- I think he got his bases covered.

You know, when you
take a punch in the face

like losing the Golden Brick,

you tend to pay attention
to the Brickmasters.

You can only take that kind of
punch if you've won a Golden Brick.

When you up at the top,
the only way to go is down.

We can go pretty far down from this
big, tall tower that we have, too.

- Wow. - I just hope you can
get it to the podium, my friend.

My gosh.
We're getting down to it.

The tension is super high.
It's happening!

What's gonna happen?

- I gotta do the fire truck.
- I gotta keep going with the minifigs

and then go back to fire
truck if we have time.

For our mega city challenge,
we built Fairytale Tower.

We only have
a little over an hour,

and we only have a beanstalk
and a building.

How is it going?

There's a lot of little
houses to put on.

We don't have all
the stories we wanted to tell.

I think we have to work
with the ones we did do.

I know you guys
are under the gun,

but the stories are pretty
important to make yours work.

We don't have enough fairytales.
We have so much left to do.

And if we don't get to them,
we're gonna fall flat.

What teams have risen to
the height challenge?

Aaron and Christian have really
put their all into the model so far.

I'm feeling really,
really proud of our build so far.

they've been in the bottom two
the last couple of challenges.

They've really
surprised us with this build.

They've come up with a dystopian
city concept and they've run with it.

I sure wish we had another hour.

- They've forgotten to give us those details

that really make it
feel like a building.

And when you have such
a beautiful glass building,

it really brings attention
when the stories aren't there.

- Sam and Jessica. - They have a
fun concept of the fairytale world

kind of taking over
New York City.

I'm a bit worried that
they've put so much focus

on making this complex structure

They seem quite far behind.

You think this should go higher
or you think this is good?

- Keep going.
- And if they can't pull off the story,

- they could be in trouble.

I'm very nervous about attaching

the three little pigs' houses,
the woman in the shoe.

They're big pieces,
and the beanstalk

might not be able to support
them and they fall off.

All of our stories are gone.

When we move it,
we have to be really careful.

The best thing we can do

We have a hell of a build still.

I feel for those guys. They put a
lot of heart and soul in that build.

Yeah, I know you're a competitive
guy, but nobody wants that.

and I think everybody can relate

I lost four or five stories
of the build,

including the one that made
the elevator function happen.

I feel like this is my fault,

We feel like
our build is in the top

for the first time ever.

And now a twist means
that everyone else

this really just saved them.

And now I'm nervous.

- What are we gonna do?

Almost like he's made of smoke,
you know what I mean?

In the beginning,
we were really stressed

because both of us are artists

and we don't really do
this type of architecture.

And now this twist allows us
to bring our creativity to it,

- so we're super excited.
- We immediately think bad guys.

So the giant in the sky,
and we have three little pigs,

so let's do the Big Bad Wolf.

I think I'm just gonna do
a brick style snowman.

Top hat, orange nose,
white arms with, like,

little twig fingers,
like, clawing.

Mel and I are creating
a winter-themed business plaza

under attack by a giant
abominable snowman

who's going down by a heat gun.

Are you gonna
focus on story details?

We have nothing
in that building.

I'm gonna put stuff
on the ground first, dude.

We gotta get our story flowing.

All right, agreed.

This twist of the attack
of the block,

what are some of the things
you're gonna be looking for?

We're gonna be looking
for a creative idea

around what is attacking their
city and how it's attacking.

I think a three-headed thing
would be fun.

And a kind of a theme
for each head.

- The lightning bolt is hitting--
- The tower.

- And food is coming to life.
- Yeah.

Be honest,
with a build like this,

how hard is it gonna be to
pretend that you're not Godzilla?

- You mean us personally?
- Yeah.

- Trying to climb on the building and
attack? - Yeah, get on the building.

I see a wardrobe
change coming for you though.

They might have me dress
as Godzilla by the end of this.

- Will that work for you?
- Fancy.

I will be repairing
this building

that I love so much.

On this start of the twist,
we're gonna divide and conquer.

I'm gonna work on getting back
the building that we had.

Returning that
to it's 14-story glory.

But first we are gonna get
started working on our twist.

I really felt it
when it-- when--

- the thing happened before.
- Yeah.

The thing that we won't talk about.

- It's when your thing crashed, remember?
- I do remember, actually.

I mean, don't repeat this,
you guys,

you guys want some glue?
I know where I can get some glue.

- No, I think we're okay.

With this twist,
we're now creating Smogra,

and he is going to destroy
the eco-friendly city.

- That's so cool!
- Two hours!

Damn.
Half the time's gone.

- Should I make this giant?
- Fee, fi, fo, fum.

- Does the lightning bolt need to be
taller than this? - No, that's good.

We are going to have
the tower struck by lightning.

Something mysterious
about the lightning

had changed the food
into monsters.

- Hot dogs!
- We make an army of hot dogs.

Every time we sit and explain
what we've built,

I always get this, like,
did we really come up with this?

- Something like that?
- It looks so evil. I love it!

- It's my greens. - So how are
you guys feeling after the twist?

- At first, I didn't like it at all.
- No?

'Cause I was pretty happy
with the build.

- But I'm having fun with it.
- What is this new story?

Technology is
taking over the planet,

and that's why the city
has gone dark.

And the people and aliens
have to fight back,

- with not technology. - It's a
disaster not just visiting big people.

- Yeah. - So they have to be
doing something that seems like,

this is a disaster.

- Okay.
- No pressure.

- But keep the focus.
- Okay.

The Brickmasters are confused
a little bit on our story.

Storytelling has not
been the best.

That what got us
in the bottom two last time.

We're trying to figure out
what the heck do we do now?

For real.
I have no idea.

This week is building
a mega city.

So we want to see that scale in
addition to all those great details.

This twist
of the attack of the block,

how do you feel the teams
are doing, like Sam and Jessica?

They didn't
complete the Fairytale City,

but they're very creative,
so they could pull the model

to another level
with this twist.

I'm gonna work on more stories.

- Amie and Krystle.
- I'm a bit worried.

I think they delivered something
they were really proud of.

- God.
- The dystopian city concept.

So it's tough for them to add
a creative idea

around what is attacking their
city and how it's attacking.

on monsters

We created four themed towers,

and now they're gonna get
attacked by a giant spider.

And lots of little spiders.

How do you really show that
it's, like, a technology monster?

The Brickmasters have really
critiqued on our monsters

in our dystopian cyberpunk city.

- Robots.
- Yeah, robots are tech.

So I'm like, you know what?
A tech monster?

Why don't we just do a robot?

Hopefully
the Brickmasters like it.

- Please like it.
- Have you thought of a voice for him?

- I think-- Or her.
Are you excited about the challenge?

I think technology's advanced a little
more. They don't sound like that.

about my '50s robot?

We got this build over here.

It's standing. The tallest building
amongst the entire skyline.

You spent 14 hours building an
amazing city from the ground up,

and then you spent another four
hours throwing it under attack.

Now the building is done
and it's finally time

to visit your city.

Aaron and Christian,
you're up first.

This challenge has been
a real roller coaster.

Not only have we recovered
our building,

I know we made something
that's show-stopping

and stands above the rest.

I'm very proud of this building.

So this is
Attack On Sustainable City.

We have a city block that is
very climate change-minded.

Having greenery, vertical
gardens, wind turbines,

but in the construction effort
to renovate,

they've disturbed Smogra,

an ancient pollution monster

come to claim the city back
for his own.

Love that you managed
to make your build tall again.

That's the tallest building.

And I love that it's full of
details on every single level.

Having an elevator that's
functional, which is not easy to do,

is a testament
to your technical skill.

I also think your monster
does actually stand out

on the skyline very nicely.

Sorry. I just wanted to give it
a little bit of gravitas.

Take us through
your big city block.

So we have our city Bricksburg

under attack
by Iceberg the snowman.

And he's attacking the city
with huge snowballs,

and everybody's running
for their lives.

And they called in
the special forces

to bring in their larger
than life heat gun right here

to try to melt Iceberg.

It's clear to everyone that this
is a really stand-out building

'cause it has
a real playfulness to it,

both in the colors
and the style.

You just polished everything
so well,

it makes this one
really stand out.

When you have such a beautiful
glass building,

it really brings attention
when the stories aren't there.

I know you put
a few figures in there,

but it's not quite there.

It feels really disjointed.

Really looks like different
people have built the cities,

and at this stage
in the competition,

I think we want one
really well polished concept.

I'm automatically thinking we're
going to be in the bottom two.

I took the lead on this
project, so if we go home,

it's gonna be because of me.

Richard and Flynn,

This is Adventure Park Towers,

where citizens can go
to escape the city.

We have a rainforest building.

The beach building.

The winter building.

And the fantasy forest.

One day a banana crate arrives

carrying a mutant spider queen.

She escapes and spawns
hundreds of spiders

that terrorize the people.

I think that the twist
has really played well for you.

You've got a really fun story
with a spider coming in.

And those cobwebs all over really
feel like mayhem is happening.

Super fun and exciting.

let's see what you got.

This is the ultimate
emergency services building

for fire, police, and medical.

But with so many heroes
gathered together,

it's drawn the attention of
this three-headed mega monster.

The fire head is attacking
the fire side of our building.

The battering ram head with armor
plates is attacking the police side.

And the junk food head is causing
some mayhem for the medical side.

I love the fact that you were playing
with different types of geometries.

And really, the spiral idea
is so dynamic.

And when you look across the
city, it really does stand out.

The monsters don't quite feel
in attack mode.

Like the fire one almost feels
like a casual blow of fire.

- Reluctant monsters.
- Yeah, a little bit.

- Yeah. - All right,
let's attack the emergency services.

Sam and Jessica, you're up.

So this is Fairytale Tower.

To the mundane person
on the street,

it's an abandoned part of town.

But behind the magical gate,
it's a magical world inside,

and the fairytales live there.

Suddenly, the bad guys attack.

the wicked witch,

Big Bad Wolf,

and the giant
come out of the sky.

And the vine grows bigger
and busts through

and breaks the spell.

So all the city people,
noticing the danger,

grab every tool they have
to fight back the invasion.

This twist was really
a lifeline for you guys.

When you pushed that model in
and pieces were falling off,

we could see this model
was in trouble.

I love your concept.
It is such a fun and exciting idea.

And that beanstalk really stands
out against the gray buildings.

And the way that you've built
these characters I think is really strong.

Even just the pig heads, you immediately
know it's the three little pigs.

- You've built it in a nice way.

so walk us through what the
story is a little bit of Pop's.

Welcome to Pop's Food Courts.

Pop's opened back in 1965.

It became so popular

that it grew into a giant tower
of food courts.

Then lightning strikes...

...and all the hot dogs
are turning into monsters.

But Pops isn't going to let hot
dogs run him out of business,

so he's fighting back.

You know, that old chestnut.

Before we had the twist,
we really had this great food emporium.

And then the twist came,

and you just made your story
even more fun.

You brought these hot dogs.

They're kind of scary,
they're kind of silly.

But they definitely stand out
in the model.

And you've used so much color
in such a beautiful way

throughout the building.

I also like the humor aspects.

The fact that somebody does not
want to let go of that turkey leg.

He's like, "I gotta get
one more bite in."

Welcome to the future.

This is Cyberpunk City.

Where species from all
around the galaxy live peacefully.

Until the entertainment
industry decided to make

the most technically advanced
film of all time.

So advanced that it came to life

and broke through the theater
and started attacking the city

and draining it
of all its resources.

- Who is this guy? - That's the
motherboard robot puppeteer guy contro--

I don't know.

I love this building.

As an architectural icon,
it has a real presence.

Also, a really nice use of color

with the black contrasting
with the purple.

It feels futuristic
and it feels dynamic.

It was really, really strong
build before we had the twist.

But I think during the twist,

you guys floundered a little bit
finding direction.

I'm not sure what this monster,
how he's attacking.

I feel like he is very, like,
I feel like--

- Like a lot of the power is going to him.
- I see the fire. Yeah.

You guys don't seem sure
what he's doing either.

And your monster just gets lost
in your build too much.

And the biggest criticism
I would have

that I couldn't see that story
without you guys explaining it.

A lot of other builders
kind of overtook you

during the twist.

You guys floundered
finding direction.

I think that a lot
of the other builders

kind of overtook you.

How did we go from one
of the top builds,

now we're at one of the builds that
may be in jeopardy of going home.

It's clearly under attack.
There's fire.

There's people fighting back. I don't
understand how you cannot see that.

We just had this creative block
that we had to get over

at the beginning of the
challenge and then we won.

It has been an especially
tough decision for us.

We're halfway through
the competition.

We need to look into
those small flaws

that are separating some people

Mel and Jermaine,
you guys delivered a really great model

with that snow monster coming in
ready to attack everything.

However, having such
a large glass building

with no details inside
is a real miss.

Also, that blue building
is really distracting.

It just really didn't come
together as a cohesive story.

Krystle and Amie,
I loved the neon greens and pinks

really popping with the black.

But unfortunately,
when the twist came along,

the monsters just got lost
in all the chaos.

Well, we've gotta say
good-bye to one team.

Brickmaster Amy,

These decisions are getting
extremely tough to make.

But the team

You girls really should be
proud of what you've built

and how you've done
