I was afraid so.

But all of a sudden,

The train come to
A screeching stop.

Screeching:

And there up ahead on the tracks

Was my dog bo with a
Red flag in his mouth

Wavin' down the train.

It seemed there was a
Washout in the tracks up ahead.

Whatever happened to that

Why, the railroad
Company offered him a job

As a flagman.

He was paid more salary
Than I got at the shipyards.

Last I heard of him,

He was elevated
To a superintendent.

Both chuckling:
