stayed sandwiched.

In this bed with him
if he would've stayed.

- [Jeremy] It's the hardest challenge I've done.
- [Trish] Yup.

[Jake N] We are in
our shelter for the night.

Freezing my balls off.
Um, got the shivers.

Nothing that I do gets me warm.

I don't care how
big this fire gets.

Look how many times we cover up.

I am freezing to death.

[Ky F] Looks at
us in our bison bag.

The three of us
are tucked in tight.

Can't see Joe. Joe,
can you see behind me?

Come in over my shoulder, Joe.

It's like giving birth. [Laughs]

[Ky] This is legit cold outside,

and we are toasty warm.

[Ky] It's always good to be,
like checking out the snow, huh?

To see what's
around us at night.

[Narrator] High up on the
ridgeline by an icy lake...

[Ky] There's something
psychologically rewarding.

About putting something in
my tummy right now, though.

[Narrator] ...Ky and Gabby
have secured small victories.

To help keep the team afloat
[Ky] whoa, are you okay?

[Narrator] But the brutal elements
have taken their toll on Joe,

putting his challenge at risk
[Gabby] oh, my goodness.

[Joe] I was dehydrated,

and I made a couple
simple mistakes.

That I shouldn't have.

Gabby and Ky, they've
been amazing out here.

I know I have to
do better for them.

[Gabby] Ky, Ky. Come here.

- [Ky] Wow.
- [Gabby] That's definitely cat.

[Ky sighs] 100%.

[Gabby] All over the place.
They're, like, perfect prints.

One of the things that's really
quick and easy to identify.

A cat track, is they
have retractable claws.

So, on the track,
if there's no claws,

chances are it
is gonna be a cat.

That's fresh.

[Gabby] That is fresh.

- [Ky] Holy cow.
- I mean, the ligaments are still working 'cause its,

its hip joint's in there still.

- [Gabby] Let's not take this back to camp.

[Ky] I don't think we want any
trace of any animal scent in there.

[Gabby] Damn.

[Ky] We just get vigilant.

On making sure if we're
out here, we have a partner,

- right.
- Even if it means one stays in the shelter.

-Or we all three

Or we carry the bow and arrow.

I mean, this is
a serious threat.

[Jermaine J] We've
done so much in five days.

Realigned the shelter,
clothes are made.

- Well, all we need to do now is get food.
- [Jermaine] Exactly.

- That's the last thing.
- [Jermaine] Get some food, that's the last bit.

[Narrator] Six miles to
the east, in a rocky gorge...

[Jermaine shivering] This is
the dumbest thing I've ever done.

[Narrator] ...Jermaine and
Wes have battled hypothermia.

And dehydration...

[Wes H] This is really the
worst I've felt on any challenge.

[Narrator] ...After a contaminated
batch of melted snow.

Left them severely ill.

[Wes vomiting]

[Narrator] Sarah
stepped up by sourcing.

Clean water from a nearby creek.

- [Jermaine] Tastes better, right?
- [Sarah B] Oh, way better.

[Sarah] Notably better.

[Jermaine] God,
we need some food.

You know, we get one good
wind, that'll carry us through.

- [Jermaine] Mmm-hmm.
- We'll be miserable, but one good solid wind.

Will carry us through.
But we need to have one.

[Jermaine] It's a very
difficult challenge.

Even though it's only 14 day.

Can't feel my feet,
my legs are cold,

my arms are cold.
My... rabbit. Rabbit.

Oh, oh. Grab the... oh.

Oh, damn.

Okay. We gotta get busy.

If he's gonna run that trail,
maybe we can set a snare.

Hey, a bunny just passed.

- [Sarah] Are you [bleep] me?
- [Jermaine] no, so it looks like, let's get on it.

[Sarah] Okay.

[Narrator] Nine miles
to the northwest...

[Waz A] It sounds cold up there.

[Jake] Let's get the fire
going and warm up a little.

Well, we just basically throw
a [bleep] Load of stuff on

[narrator] ...Jake and Waz
built a dam in a shallow stream...

[Jake] Yes, did it!

[Narrator] ...To improve
the chances of catching trout.

See it?

[Narrator] But their effort have
failed to result in any food wins.

[Sarah] Your toe is bleeding.

[Jake] This morning, the one's
pussing a little bit more than.

It has been, but...

...I think, I mean I'm
not a toe scientist,

but I've heard pussing
is the toe healing.

- So, that's encouraging.
- [Sarah] Pus?

[Sarah] That's a
sign of infection, Jake.

[Jake] My dad is
actually a toe scientist,

I grew up in a toe
scientist family.

So I know a thing
or two about toes.

And it's that my
pus-y toe is healing.

I'm still dealing with
some pretty busted feet,

but I feel like we're
so close to having.

All the puzzle pieces necessary.

To really just excel out
her we're just missing food,

which happens to be
a big part of surviving.

[Waz] We saw a
couple of trout...

...swimming out underneath
that ledge over there.

It looks like the dam's
not deep enough yet.

The flow of the water is still
sort of moving through fast.

So we can put more sticks and rocks
there and slow this water down even more.

There's a ton of rocks
in this water right here.

This is all the material
that we need to dam this.

[Jake] I'll jump in there
for a few minutes and throw

20, 30 rocks with you.

[Waz] Yeah, I think it's
our best bet to get food.

[Narrator] Fortifying
the dam with rocks.

Will create a deeper
pool of slow-moving water,

helping to concentrate the fish.

But spending more than a
few moments in the frigid water.

Is extremely dangerous.

[Waz] Today is a
warmer than usual day.

But when you're standing
knee-deep in water this cold.

It's still sucking the body
heat out of you pretty quick, so.

We've got a nice big
campfire right by the water,

so as soon as we're ready to
jump out, we can go stand by that,

warm ourselves
back up straight away.

All right, let's go,
'cause this is going quick.

Let's do this.

[Jake] Swimming party started.

[Waz] We don't wanna push this too
hard, let's see what we can get out of it.

[Jake] Yeah, I think
we have to move quick.

[Narrator] Water dissipates
body heat 24 times faster than air.

In 35 degree water, humans
have less than 3 minutes.

Before loss of
dexterity can occur.

[Waz] Just get as many
of those signs as possible,

then get back up
here by the fire.

[Jake speaking]

I mean, this water is freezing,
my feet are instantly numb.

- [Jake yelps]
- [Waz laughs]

[Jake grunts]

[Yells]

- [Jake speaking]
- [Waz] Yeah.

[Waz] It was freezing.

That was pretty bad. Like,
I wasn't in there for long,

I lost dexterity in my fingers.

[Jake] Yeah, my feet are
pretty purple at the moment.

Think if we did not
have this fire going,

the risk would've
been much higher.

[Moose snorting]

[Jeremy] Oh, [bleep], it's cold.

I don't know how long
I'm gonna stay out.

[Trish] I'll have the
fire ready for you.

It's devastating to
lose a partner out here,

even more so in these elements.

It just makes it much harder
on the remaining teammates.

Not eating and six days out here
and you're shivering all the time,

don't have much energy.

Trish is feeling it day two
she getting lightheaded.

I've gotta put
something in my belly.

Gonna check that
beaver trap that Rod set,

that he done for us
right before he left.

I'm hoping that I'll catch one.

And that'd be something
else from Rod that he gave us.

No luck there.

Something triggered it.

I'm not quite
sure if it's beaver.

The wind has got
such a hair trigger on it.

I'm gonna make
another trigger for it.

Rod did set me up.

I mean, I learned from
him while he was here,

so I picked up some
of his trigger stuff.

Rod, you still
out here, brother.

I am stringing up some flys,

tying them in, ready
to stick them on a line.

And throw it in the water
and look for some trout.

Having this be seated
and kinda do the indoor roll.

Of the challenge is
frustrating, I mean,

I'm usually out and about.

But after my previous challenge,

I'm just wanting to be helpful
and a positive team player.

[Jeremy speaking]

[Bleep].

[Whispering] Just
barely missed his head.

up out under that brush.

[Bleep].

[Whispering] Man, just

You're so hungry and
your partner's so hungry.

And then you miss.

God, that would've been awesome.

I broke my blades off while
trying to get it out of the tree.

Down to, like, five arrows.

- [Ky] All right, you ready?
- [Gabby] Let's go.

- [Gabby] Fish are waiting for us.
- [Ky] Yeah.

[Gabby] I think we
were all kind of feeling.

The lack of food.

[Ky] Well, I'm
gonna go this way.

[Gabby] So the plan for today.

Ky is going
hunting for a rabbit.

- [Gabby] Good luck, Ky.
- [Joe] Be careful.

[Ky] You guys, too.

I'm taking the bow and
arrow my main goal is to fish.

Joe's coming along for the ride
and we're gonna fish together.

Looks like they had a
little freeze overnight, Joe.

We'll have to break it off.

First step here is to
start collecting rocks.

Joe's out of the shelter
today and feeling good.

[Joe] Hey, brisk. [Laughs]

- [Gabby] It's brisk, but sunny.
- Got a worm.

[Gabby] Got a worm? Excellent.

[Grunts]

Wow, it really froze.

We're gonna need some big ones.

[Joe] We start picking up rocks
and just throwing them on in.

Kinda caveman style.

It's not the most
scientific thing, but...

There we go.

...we're gonna
open up the holes.

- [Gabby] All right, here we go.
- Go ahead.

[Joe] Let's use a
tree branch, maybe?

All right. [Sighs]

- [Joe] I got two worms.
- Perfect.

[Gabby] Just the right spot.

The trout are attracted to the light
that's shining through the water,

and because this
area, the water is gonna.

Warm up faster than
the rest of the water,

they're gonna be
attracted to this little zone.

And find our bait.

[Whispering] Going
after this rabbit.

[In normal voice] He ran
through here and up there.

And what I'm using is
called a poacher's snare.

The knot, so it'll slip down.

But it doesn't slip back up.

I'm thinking like
a rabbit. [Laughs]

Basically, rabbits run...

...leave a trail, and
diverting his trail slightly.

So, that he must
have run here first,

he misses this one,
there's a second one...

...will make it so that there's
only really one way to go...

...which is through our snare.

The problem is
making it look natural.

They see changes
in their environment.

They're a flight animal and
everything's trying to eat them.

[Ky] Some rabbit tracks there.

[Whispering] Just
ahead, something moving.

There's a rabbit.

[In normal voice] Eyes
are usually the one thing.

That gives an animal away.

There's nothing like that.

That occurs in rocks
and trees and things.

Whoo, I'm feeling the fatigue.

Just that little bit
made me realize...

...how little food
we've had in five days.

[Gabby] No bites
yet, no nibbles yet.

Just trying to be
patient for them.

I'll cast this sucker
one more time.

Look, one got me. He got me.

[Joe] Oh, oh, fish on!

Son of a [bleep].

Oh, Gabby.

- [Gabby] He got me.

I never would've imagined Gabby
was gonna jump in the water. Never.

That was, like, a gut reaction.

[Laughing] I didn't mean
to actually jump in there.

But I didn't want
him to go away.

[Joe] We have gotta
get back to our camp.

Being wet or even just a little
bit damp in these temperatures,

it's dangerous.

Let's go back and get you
out of this stuff, let's get warm.

[Gabby] I'm good, I promise.

- [Joe] Just watch your feet.
- Yep. Yeah.

[Gabby] How dope it would’ve
been if I could've actually.

Pulled that sucker out, though.

[Jermaine] This is a
promising little pool.

It looks so trout-y.

We need a source of protein.

Part of that is,
obviously, the rabbit traps.

They're good, you
know, they're set.

If the rabbit's gonna go
through, it's gonna go through.

Second phase of
that is to build a dam.

In the creek,

so that some shot can actual
find a home in it, hopefully

- [Jermaine] See this pool?
- [Wes] Oh, I like it.

[Wes] Jermaine and I have
dammed up this little creek behind us.

And creating a nice, deep pool,

where hopefully we
can catch some crawfish.

At the same time, Sarah's
working on a crawfish basket.

[Jermaine] Oh, look at
all the rocks over there.

Just gotta find the
quickest way over there.

[Wes] Today's a beautiful day.

- [Jermaine yelps] - Feels good
to actually be doing something.

- [Jermaine grunts]
- Don't do it, don't do it.

- [Jermaine] Okay, you ready? Set...
- Hold on.

- Hold on, hold on, I'm not ready. Hold on.
- Two... one.

- [Both counting] Two, three...
- [Jermaine grunts]

[Jermaine] Yes, go, yes, go.

[Wes] Where our bridge is, might
be a real nice place to put the dam.

- This is where we'll do it.
- Yeah.

[Jermaine] You got it. Make

- [Jermaine] Got it. I'm through.

[Wes] You wanna throw
a dozen rocks in first?

[Jermaine] We can do it, sure.
There's a ton of them here, so.

[Wes] You know, it's
the longest we've been.

Out of the shelter at one time.

We're doing good,
baby, looking good.

[Sarah] Currently working
on gathering materials.

To start making a,
uh, crawdad trap,

that, uh, hopefully we
can set in the pond area.

And maybe catch us some dinner.

[Jermaine] There we go.

- [Jermaine] Now we're building.
- That's good.

[Jermaine] We can keep
adding beaver material.

- [Wes] Yeah.
- [Jermaine] Start beaver-ing this [bleep] Up.

- [Wes] I love the spruce boughs.
- Yup.

[Wes] They're working good,
they're plugging all the holes.

We're looking
good on depth, man.

Put the crawfish trap
somewhere in there?

- [Jermaine] Slow water?
- Yeah.

[Sarah] So the way that
a crawfish trap works is,

is it's actually two cones,
one fit inside of the other.

As the crawfish go
in to seek out the bait,

it cannot find its way back out.

However, if there is any
kin of a hole or a crevice,

it'll just find its way out
and the trap is useless.

So, doing a proper fish
trap takes a lot more time.

Than people tend to expect.

- [Wes] How are you feeling about it?
- Honestly in my heart?

- It's a lot of calories.
- Okay.

[Jermaine] We spent a lot of
caloric energy building the dam today.

I'm lightheaded, [bleep].

- You all right?
- Yeah.

[Jermaine] I don't know if it was a
wise thing to do but it's the thing we did.

[Wes] Ready for some water?

If we're gonna put our
efforts towards something,

then it needs to pay off.

[Jermaine] [Bleep].

[Jeremy whispering] There's the
game trail that crosses through here.

[In normal voice] I just wanna
come out here and do some exploring.

Maybe come across
something I can take with a bow.

And get us something to eat.

I wanna keep pushing myself each
day and getting out there hunting.

Especially when you got
beautiful daylight today.

See, you can see they
all coming out here.

That's a lot of scat.

Let's see if they're
gonna be moose or elk.

A lot of times, a lot of different
animals follow the same game trail.

See that big old moose
track? Boy, those things are big.

Knowing that we do have moose
out here, it puts you in your place.

[Narrator] Moose can
grow up to 1,500 pounds.

And run up to 35 miles per hour.

[Jeremy] I don't think
that my arrow tips.

Are large enough to take
down an animal of this size.

Damn, there's a
moose right there.

She's staring at me right now.

[Whispering] It's insane.

Absolutely beautiful.

I'm about ready to get back.

[Jermaine] Today,
Wes and I built that dam.

In, like, an hour. We built a
dam, dammed the whole water up.

The second phase of that
is to have the crawfish trap.

We can knock the
fish trap out in a day.

And we have to.

Let me check these
snares real fast.

We're hoping that tonight..

I feel like tonight
will be rabbit night.

[Sarah] I'll come with.

[Jermaine] This has
been the warmest day.

Usually with warmth,
there's animal movement.

- [Jermaine] [Bleep].

It was disturbed.
The noose is smaller.

The bridge is disturbed,
everything's disturbed here.

- [Jermaine] Looks like a miss to me.
- Yup.

These guys need more
clearance than that.

I mean, you're talking
about a jackrabbit.

They're not gonna go through
a space that is too small.

This is something that I do
on a daily basis back home.

'Cause we have a huge rabbit
problem in my neck of the woods.

[Jermaine] The difference
is I saw the rabbit,

so I know exactly how big it is.

[Sarah] I have years of
rabbit trapping experience.

It's actually something
that I specialize in, so...

...I mean, I really wish that
Jermaine were more open to criticism.

Oh, you're gonna have to
make those bigger, dude.

I'm telling you.

[Jermaine] Kinda wanna get the
crawfish thing, I just wanna get it done.

[Sarah] Okay. If you want me to
continue working on my fish trap,

But instead of
standing and watching,

so, I'm making sure.

These traps are solid.

This evening, hopefully
the little rabbits are moving.

And they wanna get
caught and choke to death.

[Waz] So, looks like the
amount of rocks we moved.

When Jake and
I got in the water,

it's noticeably raising
the water level here.

And the fish can just cruise
around and wait for something to eat,

so we're gonna set up a couple of lines
under there and see if we can't get lucky.

I'm gonna see if I
can't fin any bait.

[Jake] Coming up here, just.

Knotting up some hooks.

So we're kinda ready to go.

[Waz] I just turned
this animal scat over.

Sometimes you gotta dig through
[Bleep] to find the good stuff.

I got a couple of live ones
there, they're all really small.

But put a couple of those on a
hook, and then they'll swallow it up.

I'm gonna get them back to Jake
and he can throw his lines in the water.

[Sara] I'm gonna go try
to find some prickly pear.

Any amount of food,

whether it be a little berry
Rose hips, or the prickly pear,

it just boosts our morale.

It's something on our stomach, 'cause
we haven't had anything in six days.

Is there some up this way?

See, that prickly
pear is done for.

[Jake] I'm gonna do this ledge.

Not really the most ideal
fishing circumstances.

As far as I'm concerned, but we're
making the most with what we've got.

[Waz] That's a very big
hook for tiny little bait,

but it's all we got right now.

We got four lines here.

We'll let a couple float down.

Under the back side of the
dam, under that shelf there.

I think we should put two
upstream from the dam.

One can just be left in
the pool here in the middle.

And we sort of just,
trial and error, you know?

[Jake] Yeah, we'll have to
see what they're attracted to.

[Sara] I'm hoping
the guys get a trout,

and then prickly pear is
just, like, a little appetizer.

Oh, there's some right here.

There's one.

[Narrator] A small prickly
pear provides about 40 calories.

[Sara] Got you.

It will at least put
something in our stomachs.

I mean, it's
nothing substantial,

but, I mean, I'm
super excited about it.

It's better than what we've
gotten, which is nothing.

[Waz speaking]

That was the one
with the live bait,

so I'm pretty
disappointed about that.

I thought that had a
bit more of a chance.

[Jake] Right now, we're
kind struggling with the fishing

'cause we don't
have the right bait.

- Good job, look at that.
- [Sara] Yum.

[Jake] Fortunately, Sara
brought back some prickly pear,

which looks dangerous
and delicious.

I think we just
cut them in half,

scrape out the inside,
and call it a day.

[Jake] Usually when they're
bigger, it's so much easier.

- Just to kinda cut them into cubes.
- [Sara] Yeah, I couldn't.

Find any huge
ones. It's impossible.

[Jake] No, it's not impossible.

- [Sara] You're right.
- [Jake] Positive thoughts.

Sara gets in her
head and freaks out.

And can be really negative,
but Sara's been on it,

and she's got all
the skills you need.

To really crush it out here.

Just give it a whirl.

[Sara] What's it taste like?

[Sara] It tastes like
an unflavored kiwi.

an important fish in my entire life.

Quick and easy,

We needed protein, and that fish
means the world to all three of us.

Hopefully, it will give
us the energy we need.

To push through the
second half of this challenge.

We've been working
at these suckers.

For a couple days now.

It's a good thing that
we're gutting it here.

Because we do have
our mountain lion.

Out and around the shelter.

I can actually spread it open
and keep it butterflied open.

and push to hunt.

pretty solid storm coming in, Sara.

working on our shelter.

When it starts raining,

and you have rain coming
through all these little holes,

hypothermia's, like,

almost certain at that point.

You can't stay dry.

[Gabby] Looks like we
might have a storm rolling in.

We see the storm
rolling over the mountains,

and we quickly realize
we need more firewood.

We know we have to hunker do
and get in the shelter and stay warm.

[Trish] I don't
see a damn thing.

I seen them swimming this way.

I see a storm coming
out of the north.

- [Jeremy] It's gonna be dark soon.

My biggest fear is that if
it starts pouring down rain,

we're not prepared
for it all the way.

So a good downpour is gonna
knock us out of the challenge for sure.

As I look around,
I'm like right now,

clouds are moving in,

the wind's picking up.

It could easily turn on us.

The temperature range is
just dramatic and wild here.

We have got to
fortify our shelter

'cause it's gonna be a
really cold night tonight

[Sarah] Just fitting more
of the Juniper bows in here.

This is gonna help immensely in
keeping the heat inside of our shelter.

Looks like we might
have some rain on the way.

We have shored up
our shelter a lot more.

[Wes] I mean, it's better.

I'm just not sure if it's
going to actually cancel out.

down on us in there.

person here to watch it,

it's just... we can't
stay out that long.

I don't want to be wet out here.

Because that's just
gonna ad to any problems.

That would come
along with the cold.

Also, our shelter doesn't
retain any heat right now.

Because we've not
finished it, so it's a nightmare.

we're gonna be in for a long night.

[Sara] There's no way
we're not gonna get rained on.

[Waz] We're sort of
limited on resources.

There's only a few different
types of trees and bushes up here,

none of them have huge
leave or anything like that.

And no matter how
thick we build that shelter,

we're still getting
wind coming through.

Um, I know if it rains, we're
gonna be in for a long night.

I just don't see how
to plug these holes.

From in here perfectly.

We just don't want rain.

Rain is gonna terrify us.

There's no way to waterproof
our shelter right now.

I mean, we would need
to work day and night.

To waterproof that
for the next two days,

and I just... I don't know
what we're gonna do.

Honestly, I just am so
impressed with our shelter.

I can't get over it, but
at the end of the day,

we're in the mountains
in Montana in winter.

I've always said it, mountains
are super unpredictable.

All you can do is just watch
and see what this weather does.

[Jeremy] It's cold

- It's gotta be, like,

30 degrees, if not 25 degrees.

I don't know what
it is, but it's... [sighs]

[Trish] And our shelter's
not all the way closed in yet.

[Jeremy] Rain's my biggest fear.

I'm just scared it's gonna rain.

[Sara whispering] My feet
are so cold, I wanna cry.

It's the most
miserable night yet.

Snuggling up under the covers.

[Sighs] My toes are frozen.

I'm a bit worried about
them to be honest.

Just absolutely torturous.

[Jake] We're
freezing all day long,

and getting wet at all
is dangerous out here.

I mean, hypothermia's
a serious risk.

[Bleep], it's freezing rain.

It's, like, ice pellets
and mixed rain.

It's terrible.

[Jermaine] Montana decided to
spit a bunch of ice pellets on us.

We're trying our best just trying to
stay warm and dry underneath this thing.

If it become a downpour
and then just soak everything,

put the fire out,
soak all the pelts,

I don't know how I
could recover from it.

It's all hands on deck
right now, it's freezing rain,

and our shelter's not
exactly water tight.

[Jermaine] Wes
and I are scrambling.

To make sure
there's fire in here.

Gotta do something to
prevent some of this ice rain.

From falling inside of here.

Oh, it's gonna be cold and long.

We're gonna be hunkering down.

And just trying to
stay alive oh, my god.

It actually is a little scary.
