Good morning, Mr. Phelps.

The man you're looking at, Prince Stephan,

was his country's rightful ruler,

until he was reported killed two weeks ago in an automobile accident.

However, we have learned that Stephan is alive

and being held by this man, General Ramon Sabattini.

Sabattini has imprisoned Stephan

in order to force Stephan's fiancée, Francesca, to marry him.

This marriage would make Sabattini a legitimate heir to the throne,

currently occupied by Francesca's cousin, Nicolai.

We believe it is Sabattini's plan to kill all three of the royal family,

take the throne and ally with our enemies.

Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it,

is to stop Sabattini

and rescue Stephan, Francesca and Nicolai.

As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed,

the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions.

This tape will self-destruct in five seconds.

Good luck, Jim.

Just a minute. I forgot Lucifer's signal.

Okay, Barney.

Your stride is exactly two feet, 11 inches, Jim.

- It will take you seven seconds. - Seven seconds.

How much air will she have, Barney?

Not much, Jim, but if everything goes according to schedule,

I should have no problem getting in the tomb.

Good.

Paris.

Magicians are an obsession with Nicolai.

Power is an obsession with Sabattini.

Ambition will be the downfall of Vargas

and Buccaro.

And that concludes Zastro's performance.

My next is set by royal command.

This is Sebastian. He'll be working with you.

Bone structure's the same. Should be no problem.

- How about the voice? - He's been studying.

Barney.

And now, Your Majesty,

if you will give me the name of someone that you wish to see...

Very good.

- They're beautiful, Jim. - And practical.

Willy?

Our mockup looks perfect.

And so does this.

What do you think, Lucifer?

Enter.

Ever since I've known you, Vargas, I don't believe I've ever seen you smile.

I thought that perhaps today would be an exception.

You would not be too happy either, general,

if you'd just come from visiting your bride.

- She refuses to marry me? - Yes.

Prince Stephan will change her mind.

I would not be too certain of that.

Oh, general, will you not reconsider the Asian proposal?

They will put us into power instantly.

And throw us out just as quickly when we had served their purpose.

I do not agree.

I do not wish to go over old ground again, Vargas.

Yes, but this marriage masquerade is far too dangerous.

You'll be marrying a woman that could destroy you.

When I marry Francesca, I will be in line to the throne.

She will not have time to be troublesome.

You cannot kill her immediately.

And until you do, you have the problem of Nicolai to contend with.

He's not a problem, he's a child.

An unprincipled child who is also our sovereign.

His whims are costing us a fortune.

Why, that Louis XIV clock cost us 50,000.

A small investment, when you consider he signed over to me

the royal mining concessions.

And it was all legal.

You are going to bankrupt this country with your legalities.

Yes?

Well, are their papers in order?

- Who is it? - The Amsterdam Cultural Society.

You gave them permission to photograph the crown jewels

and other historical nonsense.

Yes, yes, yes, I remember.

- Let them in. - Pass them through.

I hope they take some decent photographs

of the crown jewels, Vargas.

Soon they will be the only proof of their beauty and one-time existence.

The floor of the corridor is pressurised.

If you will wait one minute.

Open, please.

Yes, but our economy, it's in a ruinous state.

I told you, you can begin breaking down the jewels tomorrow.

I know, but...

The jewels will not be enough. We need a loan.

And the only people willing to give us one...

Are our Asian friends.

Why is it, Vargas, every conversation with you turns in a circle?

It's beginning to annoy me.

Have the car brought around and get Francesca ready.

We'll leave as soon as I get Nicolai to sign these documents.

Morning, Your Majesty.

- And how are you today? - Unhappy.

What has happened to make you unhappy?

They will not kiss.

- How sad. - It is almost the half-hour.

It will strike and they will not kiss.

It is all because of the escape wheel, it is lost.

Oh, I'm sure with His Majesty's skill at dealing with these intricacies,

he will have no trouble at all repairing it before the hour.

Now, if you will just sign this...

No, I don't feel like signing any papers today.

- But, Your Majesty. - I am too unhappy. No.

I am not signing anything today.

Maybe I will not sign anything tomorrow.

In fact, I may never sign anything ever again.

That's it. That's the one. Give it to me.

First, this.

Hello.

Zastro who?

It's the magician.

The one who will entertain us this afternoon.

- Magician? - Yes.

You told me two days ago I could order the entertainment.

I did not tell you before, because I wanted to surprise you.

You have surprised me.

Yes, let them enter.

All right.

They say he is even greater than Houdini.

I'm sure.

Francesca, what a pleasant surprise. I hardly see you anymore.

Where have you been?

What's the matter? You look unhappy.

She's not unhappy, Your Majesty.

It's just the nearness of the great event.

- Oh, yes, the great event. - She's overcome with excitement.

Yes, Zastro does leave one speechless.

The entertainment His Majesty has prepared for us this afternoon.

Francesca.

- Nicky. - Yes, my dear.

This clock is 15 seconds off.

He cannot help you,

and you would only put Stephan's life in danger if you were to talk.

Arngrim Prison.

Open up the case. I wish to inspect it.

Open it.

I said, open it.

It only contains the magician's props. They are very secret.

- No one is allowed to see them. - That is none of my concern. Open it.

- But it will cost me my job. - Open it.

Captain?

It will cost you your head if you do not let him enter.

- Where is Zastro? - He will arrive shortly, Your Majesty.

He wishes us to set up the equipment before he arrives.

- Where can I set it up? - What?

Oh, yes, you can set it up in the reception hall.

I will need some help, Your Majesty.

See that he has all the help he needs.

You are to comply completely with his wishes.

Yes, Your Majesty. I will.

You're an old-fashioned jailer, Major Rousek.

I've never seen a prisoner look so miserable.

Stephan, do you remember that winter ten years ago?

We were skating.

Nicolai had four or five servants

all making snowballs for him, which he threw at you

- every time we walked by... - It's time to talk about now.

But he hit me, and he was so embarrassed that...

Now, Francesca.

Stephan, Sabattini is only bluffing.

He has set the date for the wedding, has he not?

I can delay it.

We can have much more time together.

But you will marry him?

Yes.

Francesca,

I can tell you have no intention of marrying Sabattini.

- I would be killing you if I did. - That will happen in any event.

I have no life without you. I will not marry him.

Then he will kill you also.

- Yes. - Oh, I see.

Very brave and very foolish.

Foolish perhaps.

Brave, no.

With both of us dead, our people have no hope.

I know.

Francesca, you must marry him.

You must.

Promise me you will.

They have had enough time.

No.

Please.

Don't worry, Stephan, I'll take good care of her.

If there is any decency left within you, I appeal to it.

Be kind to her.

What man wouldn't be kind to her?

She is a very warm, beautiful young woman.

Of course, there will be certain duties

that will be required to perform she might not take too kindly to.

However, if the royal line is to continue, there must be heirs.

She has a marvellous physique.

She should bear many healthy children.

As soon as the marriage is consummated, I want him executed.

Your Majesty, Zastro has arrived.

Zastro.

Zastro.

Your Majesty, may I present my assistant, Lucifer,

and the great mind reader Madame Vinsky.

I am without words.

But you are not without thoughts, Your Majesty.

I believe Prince Nicolai would like a preview of your talents, Zastro.

My very thoughts exactly.

Please.

Watch closely.

Lucifer.

My ring.

Rare Persian coins for Your Majesty.

My ring again.

- Another trick, please. - I am sorry, Your Majesty.

Madame Vinsky and I must prepare for this afternoon's performance.

I trust you are aware that we perform promptly at 1:00.

There can be no delays.

Of course, Zastro, I understand completely.

Return at 2:00 sharp.

Now, if we can be shown to our quarters?

Show Zastro and Madame Vinsky to their...

Lucifer.

No.

Under no circumstances must the falcon be harmed.

Open the gate.

Lucifer.

The falcon is frightened by all these people.

- They must leave. - Everyone out.

I'm sorry, Your Majesty, but I have strict orders from General Sabattini.

No one is to be left alone in the jewel room.

I am becoming very impatient with your attitude, captain.

- Now, I command you all to leave. - I'm sorry.

I cannot disobey General Sabattini's orders.

Captain, you can consider yourself under arrest.

But I was only obeying orders, Your Majesty.

Enter.

Vargas.

- Everything proceeding smoothly? - Fine. I just called the cathedral.

- The bishop will be here shortly. - Good.

How do I look?

Like a king.

Oh, yes, yes.

Tradition has it the bride in a royal marriage

wears the Montavia crown.

- I will get it. - Good.

I will be in Francesca's quarters.

Open the gate.

Good day, Father.

- Good day, my son. - Having trouble, Father?

- Unfortunately and very untimely. - Please, may I help you?

That would be very kind of you.

Thank you for fixing it, my son.

Francesca should be in her room by now.

- Who are you? - Francesca, I'm here to help you.

There's very little time for explanations. You must listen.

We're here to rescue you and Stephan.

Trust me.

- Now, do you think you have it? - Yes, I think I know what to do.

The first bullet is real, the second is a blank.

Right.

- When will I see Stephan? - Soon.

Will it be painful?

No, the pill will take effect immediately.

Francesca.

I have decided to give you your wedding gift before the wedding.

Stephan's life.

- What have you got in your hand? - Oh, nothing.

Yes, you have something in your hand.

No, no, no, they're just private things, mementos.

There are no secrets between a bride and her fiancé.

Show me. Show me.

- Is there nothing sacred to you? - Let me see.

Show me.

Enter.

The Montavia crown.

You will wear this today.

At the wedding.
