[Martial Universe]

[Episode 38]

Huan Huan has begun Ice Master cultivation.

- She doesn't have much time left. - He's determined to join the Dao Sect.

I'd like to ask you to take him in.

If Lin Dong can't join the Dao Sect...

has rejected the Purity Palace...

and we don't want him either, then he isn't of the Great Sects.

Which means I don't have to show you any mercy!

No!

Someone's breaking into the hall!

Who are you? Why are you breaking into our hall?

I'm Lin Dong from Desolate Hall. I want to see Sect Master Ying!

Desolate Hall disciples are prohibited from entering!

Huan Huan!

Can you hear me? I know you're in there!

Come out!

Huan Huan!

I've come!

Huan Huan! Come out!

- Savage girl! - Huan Huan.

Your brat is here!

- If it's like this, it's better to...- Come out!

- not see him.- Huan Huan!

I know you're in there!

Huan Huan, come out and see me! Come out!

Why should I just marry you so casually?

Junior, if you keep trying, we won't be able to show any mercy!

I want a huge wedding.

I want everyone to be envious of me!

It's a deal.

My wedding has to be perfect!

Otherwise, how can it last me 100 years?

Sky Hall has no Ying Huan Huan.

The Ice Master no longer remembers you.

Huan Huan...

- Master. - Master, Lin Dong stole a token

and trespassed into Sky Hall.

According to our rules, he's to be severely punished.

Master, Lin Dong is new here. He might not know all of the rules yet.

And after all, he is Huan Huan's old friend.

Didn't you tell me that you already explained our sect rules to them?

He knew them, but he broke them anyway.

Wu Dao.

What's the punishment for breaking into Sky Hall?

- Getting kicked out of the Dao Sect! - Tong Chuan!

Master.

I only want to see Huan Huan once.

Yes, Master. They have deep feelings for each other.

He went through a lot to get here.

Sect Master, why don't you just let them see each other?

Why should I?

Huan Huan was forced into being Ice Master the moment she was born.

She never had any choice.

Let me ask you something.

Did you join the Emblem Master Guild to kill Yimo?

Of course.

Huan Huan cultivating Ice Master magic is for the same reason.

The Yimo are creating havoc in our world.

Huan Huan needs to master her cultivation for there to be hope of beating them.

If you really care about her...

you should accept that she bears the responsibility of this destiny.

Destiny...

Is destiny even more difficult to overcome than the Yimo?

Have we even tried? Have we made any effort?

You just casually throw Huan Huan into the hands of destiny with a few words?

Do you know how she feels at all?

Master, Lin Dong is...

Junior Lin is just caught up in the moment.

Huan Huan can't be the only sacrifice in this battle against the Yimo.

We can't just rely on the Ice Master...

nor can we just depend on some predestined fate.

If I can't see her and I can't help her...

I'm not leaving.

If you really want to see her, you'll have to rely on your own skills.

If you can bear the snow mountain's intense training...

I... can consider the possibility.

Lin Dong!

Lin Dong, are you all right?

Master.

It's my fault for not reigning him in. I've angered you.

Both the Absorption Emblem and the Ice Emblem are in our sect now.

It looks like our days of peace are over.

You're worried the Yimo will be lured here?

They end up wherever the Ancestral Emblems are.

So you wanted to kick Lin Dong out to prevent the Yimo from coming here?

Of course, everything is up to fate.

Until Huan Huan masters her cultivation...

notify all the disciples to up our defense and vigilance.

Do not give the Yimo an opportunity to attack.

Yes, Master.

I know that the scar on your face seems to be a constant reminder

of the fact that you were hurt by those you trusted.

Lin Dong has entered the Dao Sect.

You're no longer the only Lin to enter the Great Sects.

You've been focused on killing Yimo, but now he's stolen your thunder.

In a few centuries, the world will only remember Lin Dong.

They won't know who Lin Lang Tian is.

I said it already. I won't be acting benevolent any longer.

I will definitely obtain all of the Ancestral Emblems.

But the Dao Sect has already increased their defenses.

It's too difficult to get the Absorption Emblem from Lin Dong.

That doesn't bother me!

You focus on recuperating. I have other ideas.

What do you want to do?

They can defend themselves from outsiders, not but from those within.

Everything that Lin Dong does... is under my control.

If you can bear the snow mountain's intense training...

I can consider this possibility.

Lin Dong, you haven't fully healed yet. You have to take it slower!

I don't know when I'll get to see Huan Huan at this rate.

I'm sure there are other ways to see her!

Master.

Are you still struggling over the matter of Lin Dong and Junior Ying?

Wu Dao, I need to discuss something with you.

I'll obey anything you command.

You've managed our sect affairs well over the years.

And I am getting on in years.

It's time I step down.

You've been with me for many years and you're my most trusted disciple.

Let me ask you, are you interested in becoming sect master

and leading the Dao Sect?

I am indebted to you. How could I turn my back on such a responsibility?

- Then you train in her place. - I can't.

I didn't think you'd have the courage.

You keep coming in and out of here so casually.

Why do you keep testing me?

How did you see through me this time?

The real Ying Xuan Zi would never make me sect master.

Turbulent times give birth to heroes.

If you want to make something of yourself

the Dao Sect can't be allowed to live in peace.

It's a pity that it took me decades of serving that old man to figure that out.

You've realized it now, and it's not too late.

Lin Dong's Absorption Emblem and the whereabouts of the Third Seat King.

Which one do you want?

I want both of them.

Right, and your junior's Ice Emblem.

I want that too.

Ying Xuan Zi is a cautious man.

I suggest you don't be too greedy.

Senior Wu, what do you think about this look?

Heaven Seat King, that isn't funny.

As long as you're willing to cooperate...

aside from making you sect master, we'll give you everything else you want.

I need time.

I know...

that if I go step by step towards Sky Hall, it'll be slow...

but I'll reach her side eventually.

Lin Dong, do you want to reach Sky Hall faster?

I thought about it, and there is a way you can do it legitimately.

- The Master would accept it. - How?

By killing someone.

The kill list is maintained by all three sects.

All those on the list are the worst of the worst.

The farther up they are on the list, the greater the sins they committed.

If any of you kill someone on the list

you've made a great contribution to the sect.

You'll be able to join higher level halls with ease.

The bigger the criminal you kill, the bigger the contribution you've made.

Of course, it's more risky as well.

If you want to level up through the halls quickly

you'll have to take a huge risk.

Lin Dong!

You just recovered from your injuries. Don't overestimate yourself.

Junior, you won't be able to beat Zhou Tong.

You can't. He went from Desolate Hall to Sky Hall in just a year.

He was supposed to be the next sect master.

None of us can beat him.

If he was supposed to be sect master, how did he end up on the kill list?

I'm not too sure about that.

But the word is that he betrayed the Dao Sect.

Master doesn't let us bring him up.

It can't be helped. I'm both curious and like to win.

I'd like to meet him.

This is as far as I can take you.

Keep going north and you'll reach the Desolate Barrens.

- That's where Zhou Tong usually is. - What exactly did he do?

Everyone on the kill list has done terrible things.

What is it? Are you afraid?

I am, now that we speak of it.

What are we even doing here?

We can't help Lin Dong, nor can we look for the Emblems.

- All you do is sleep! - All you do is eat!

Lin Dong takes so damn long.

He went to the Dao Sect to see a woman and he's still not back.

Why don't we help him fight that Zhou Tong?

Easier said than done.

Who do you think Zhou Tong is?

If you knew, you'd forget fighting him. You'd avoid even running into him.

Lin Dong is an idiot. All for a woman.

Then... why don't we find the Ice Formation

- and bring the tigress with us? - Don't you know her at all?

She has so much pride. She'd rather suffer.

This is going to take forever.

What is wrong with Ying Xuan Zi anyway?

They're a great couple

but he wants her to be the Ice Master's successor.

Who couldn't be it? I'm a successor too.

If I were in my prime, forget two Emblems. I'd be able to get all eight.

- Lin Dong can too. - What do you know?

On the journey of cultivation

you can use elixirs and luck to get through the first three stages.

But the upper three stages? That's all hard work.

- For example, Zhou Tong. He... - What?

What is it you're trying to say? Out with it already!

Tell me!

I've been alive for 900 years.

I've heard some things about the Dao Sect's history.

Zhou Tong was a rare genius cultivator.

Using Zhou Tong to deal with Lin Dong...

quite a brilliant idea.

Surprisingly, that ditzy Wu Dao possesses some smarts.

The Yimo might not be as terrifying as those you thought were on your side.

Remember... don't trust anyone.

I guess you ended up joining the Dao Sect after all.

- It's you! - From now on...

we're enemies.

Is that from the kill list?

You've come for my head.

Come on, then.

Let's see how skilled you are.

Sir, you want to kill the Yimo. Why would you betray your own?

I told you before.

I have no comrades.

I don't want us to be enemies.

But you're not going easy on me, so I'll just have to go all out!

I can spare you if you leave the sect.

Getting killed by you is nothing.

But forfeiting is shameful.

Why don't you just kill me if you want?

You want me to forfeit no matter what? In your dreams.

Come on! Here.

Junior Ying?

Huan Huan! Huan Huan.

Huan Huan! Savage girl! Savage girl!

You remember me, don't you?

You do!

When Mu Qian Qian tried to kill me, you protected me then too.

If you don't want to see me, I won't force you to.

Just say something!

Huan Huan...

there's so much I want to tell you.

Just give me some acknowledgement.

Huan Huan! There must be a reason you refuse to see me or speak to me!

I won't push you, but I...

I...

I'll wait.

- Father, why are you sitting here? - Your cultivation has three stages.

Your face has recovered, meaning you've completed the first stage.

Father.

I have something to say.

The second stage... condensing the spirit.

Both your body and your soul still needs tempering from the ice.

Your veins will be rearranged.

Huan Huan, you can't be self-centered like you used to be.

I originally thought being Ice Master was my inescapable destiny!

That's why I never rejected you!

But I've figured it out.

If I could choose myself, I'd control the Ice Emblem my own way!

Because of Lin Dong?

Yes.

And for myself.

I haven't forgotten my duty to kill the Yimo.

But, Father, guess what?

The ancient Ice Master isn't the only one who can fight them.

Perhaps Lin Dong can become an Emblem Ancestor too.

Do you trust me?

Then you'll have to trust Lin Dong.

I got it.

You'll only become the Ice Master after reaching the top of the last stage.

Until then... you're still yourself.

I'm still me!

Huan Huan, you must first master the Ice Emblem's powers.

It also depends on Lin Dong's luck.

I can't guarantee the two of you anything.

As long as there's a single shred of hope... that's enough.

Father.

From now on, no matter what happens...

I will still be me.

I'm Ying Huan Huan.

I'm still your precious daughter.

Junior, did you get hurt?

I didn't get hurt... I just failed miserably.

The fact that you survived an encounter with Zhou Tong

without serious injuries is already a fortunate thing.

- Maybe if you train harder-- - I can't believe he came back alive.

It seems we all underestimated him.

Train a few more years... I'm afraid I don't have that much time.

There are ways to handle Zhou Tong.

Why did he wait until now to tell me?

Zhou Tong's old talents used to be similar to yours.

The only reason he's so powerful today

because he secretly studied half of the Great Desolate Scripture.

The Great Desolate Scripture?

Why is Wu Dao telling him this?

What scripture? What is he saying?

This is going to be good.

Desolate Hall is the weakest of the four halls

but the Great Desolate Scripture is an extremely powerful technique.

It's very mentally complex, so no one has been able to decipher it.

Except Zhou Tong?

He only learned half of it, but he's already so powerful.

If you can decipher it, with your natural talents...

you'll be able to fight him on even ground.

How can I learn it?

The martial arts hall at the end of Desolate Hall.

Martial arts hall?

Martial arts manuals must be kept here.

Why are there no disciples around?

After Zhou Tong secretly learned from the scripture

it became prohibited for normal disciples to enter.

Naturally, you're the successor and your relationship with Junior Ying is special

not to mention Master cares for you too. So you're definitely not just anyone.

When Desolate Hall disciples want to move up...

learning regular techniques is more than enough.

You're the only one who goes for the difficult stuff.

I can handle tough things.

They make things interesting.

You should turn back.

Elder!

Elder, Desolate Hall's Lin Dong wants to enter to study a manual inside.

The Great Desolate Scripture is an inauspicious object.

Nothing good comes of anyone who gets close to it.

I've experienced many inauspicious things!

And truthfully, there were never any good outcomes.

I'm not afraid!

You... have yet to earn the right!

- Elder! - Senior Wu Dao.

If you say that, I can only go back and train some more.

Elder, you paid such a high price.

If my eyes can buy peace for the world, then it was worth it.

But it's a pity...

Tong?

If a Yimo imprisoned 100 years ago escaped

would running away be the first thing it thought of?

It's revenge.

It's going to get revenge on the Dao Sect!
