[Martial Universe]

[Episode 37]

You said that your life was mine and my life was yours.

Our lives are inseparable!

The other Ying Huan Huan must have told you those things.

The Dark Crystal Stone is hidden deep within the desert.

It consists of an infinite number of Yuan Power cords linked together.

An enormous amount of Yuan Power is required to shatter it.

Senior Ling.

I'd like for you to help Lin Dong join the Great Sects.

Allow him to fulfill his wish.

What he wants...

is you.

To be with you.

It puts me at ease that he has you to take care of him.

Fairy Maiden.

Take it.

I have to cultivate now.

Lady Ling.

- I'm sorry your efforts were futile. - Sect Master Ying.

- I have a request. - For... Lin Dong?

I've already asked Palace Mistress Shen to break the rules for him

but I know that he wants to join the Dao Sect.

I'd like to ask you to take him in as a disciple.

Lin Dong is the successor. He would help the Dao Sect as well.

- Not to mention-- - The more qualities he possesses...

the more I can't let Huan Huan be near him.

But--

I've already decided.

Lady Ling... have a safe journey.

It seems that Yuan Gate's young ones are all very capable

if its Masters feel at ease cultivating in isolation instead of being present.

Plenty of victorious contestants fight to join Yuan Gate every year.

Naturally, our Masters have nothing to worry about.

Yes. I wonder how many candidates will be willing to join us this year.

Palace Mistress Shen Qing couldn't make it?

Don't tell me something happened at the Purity Palace.

I've come to take in disciples on my mistress's behalf.

I should also let you all know that this year, we are accepting male disciples.

What?

Someone's coming!

Qing Zhu... I've arrived.

I've already made arrangements so that you can join the Purity Palace.

Qing Zhu.

I'm sorry.

Sect Master Ying, I said before that I'm only doing this for Huan Huan.

It's a pity.

You aren't... a disciple we wish to accept.

All right.

If Lin Dong can't join the Dao Sect

has rejected the Purity Palace

and we don't want him either...

then he isn't part of the Great Sects.

Therefore, I don't have to show you any mercy.

No!

No!

Senior Mu, what are you doing?

Lin Dong gravely injured my disciple, Lin Lang Tian, in Wanxiang City!

He let a Yimo King escape. How can I show him mercy?

Stop!

Recite the rules for accepting a disciple to the Dao Sect.

But Master, Junior Ying was ruined by him!

Lin Dong!

You must know that the Dao Sect is where martial artists strive to end up.

If you wish to join Dao Sect, you must pass many tests.

The Ancient Battlefield is only one of them.

Those sincere about joining must shatter the Dark Crystal Stone.

Only then can they become a Dao Sect disciple.

However, Lin Dong, don't rejoice prematurely.

The Dark Crystal Stone is hidden deep within the desert.

It consists of an infinite number of Yuan Power cords linked together.

An enormous amount of Yuan Power is required to shatter it.

You've only just survived the tribulations of the Ancient Battlefield.

Your Yuan Power has been depleted.

A single careless mistake and all your power is gone.

Consider your odds carefully.

Lin Dong!

Don't worry. I know what I'm doing.

Forget shattering the stone...

You can't even see its silhouette!

Sect Master Ying.

Sect Master Ying?

I say you give up on him and leave him for Yuan Gate to deal with.

Any potential disciple has two chances to shatter the stone.

Elder Mu.

Don't rush. He still has another chance.

You still have one more chance!

Will you keep going, or give up?

Keep going.

Great Desolate Heavenly Palm!

Do you think that just anyone can join the Great Sects?

Master!

Lin Dong... will join the Dao Sect.

Well, Elder Mu.

I'm grateful to you for helping me test my disciples.

I'm very fortunate. I'll be taking Lin Dong.

No need to thank me.

Your sect would take in someone working with the Yimo?

And the Purity Palace would break their rules for him.

Although it's a pity he didn't take the opportunity you offered him.

It seems only us from Yuan Gate are free of evil forces.

Qing... Qing Zhu!

Qing Zhu!

- I'm... I'm sorry! - How many times have you said that?

I...

The Nine Heavens Purity Palace never accepts male disciples!

It looks like my mistress has no need to struggle over this anymore...

and I don't need to suffer Yuan Gate's humiliations.

And... now you have the Dao Sect's blessings.

I don't need to spare anymore effort for you.

Qing Zhu!

I'm just the Emblem Protector.

You're the successor.

I'll simply follow all your orders...

as long as you still remember your duty is to kill Yimo.

Of course.

I remember our promise too. I have to go with you to the demon realm

to help you find your father.

You've said that many times too.

I'll remember it.

Take care, my fairy maiden.

Huan Huan.

Huan Huan?

Huan Huan!

Father! Lin Dong...

He's joined the Dao Sect.

He's become your fellow disciple.

Father.

I want...

We will protect him now that he's one of us.

However...

I have a condition.

I know.

I won't see him.

Remember...

it's not that I'm being cruel. The Yimo are here and time is running out.

It's time for you to focus on your cultivation.

Mistress, I acted impulsively and caused the Palace humiliation.

Please punish me as you see fit.

You're the Emblem Protector, but you also have emotions and desires.

Developing feelings is understandable.

But you have to bear in mind the lesson that was handed to your mother.

My mother's lesson?

Mistress... what are you trying to tell me?

There are many things I don't know either.

You have to search for the answers yourself.

Regarding Lin Dong... you can't control where he goes.

I still hope you can learn to detach yourself.

One day...

it's inevitable that the two of you will fight together against the Yimo.

The Darkness Palace was created by the Darkness Master.

Over the years, the other Emblems were scattered throughout the world.

Only the Darkness tribe managed to keep our Emblem here using our powers

up until this day.

Your first task upon entering my palace

is to learn how to control Darkness Power.

What is Darkness Power?

All things are born from Darkness.

Time stops due to Darkness.

The life and death of all things are within its control.

Darkness Power originates from the ability to manipulate time.

The icy poison you've possessed since you were a child

is Darkness Power incarnate.

Over time, the power reaches its full potential.

When that happens, it can stop the aging process

and condense the blood.

Your body can also be destroyed from this power.

I used to think I was evil because of it.

It's a power from within you. It is neither good nor bad.

Nothing can be born with only Yin. Nothing can grow with only Yang.

The world has always consisted of Yin and Yang.

Darkness is sometimes a kind of death.

And sometimes, it's a kind of rebirth.

- Why can't I control it? - You obviously can't right now.

But you don't be discouraged.

Some people never enter the Gate of Darkness.

You are our Darkness tribe's purest descendant.

If your veins hadn't been reconstructed

I don't know when these powers of yours would have been discovered.

Actually, death is a type of Darkness.

Mistress, how do I cultivate it?

Please guide me.

Don't rush.

There's too much chaos in your heart.

This will obstruct your cultivation.

Bear in mind that only focused cultivation

will allow you to become the Darkness Palace's Mistress.

Only then can you inherit the Darkness Emblem.

When that time comes, you can use your powers to fulfill your wish.

Palace Mistress!

Palace Mistress, a Yuan Gate Sect disciple has trespassed.

Mistress... I don't want to see him.

Would you turn him away for me?

Why has a disciple from Yuan Gate traveled so far?

I know that Qing Tan is here.

I want to see her.

Darkness Palace disciples don't visit with outsiders.

Are you the one not letting me see her, or does she not want to see me?

This is our rule. Everything else is irrelevant.

Please leave.

If I can't see her, then please pass a message on for me.

I went through so much trying to get to this palace.

If she refuses to see me, I'll keep waiting.

Do as you please.

His face has burn marks from the Nirvana Demon Flame.

Do you want to see him?

You may be able to ease the troubles in your heart.

I won't see him.

I know what he wants to say anyway.

I don't imagine it was easy for him to get here.

I don't know if it was me that motivated him or the Darkness Ancestral Emblem.

I look forward to seeing how long he's willing to wait.

You've been caught red-handed. What do you have to say for yourself?

So you didn't come for Qing Tan after all, but the Darkness Emblem.

Mistress, do we go after him?

No.

Young Mistress, someone stole the Ancestral Emblem!

Qing Tan!

I wish to see you.

Qing Tan!

I know you're in there!

- It's a pity.- Qing Tan!

- I was right.- Come out!

I want to see you!

We don't have to go back to Yuan Gate. Why don't we go back to Qingyang Town?

Qing Tan!

I don't need anything as long as you're willing to come out!

I didn't take the Darkness Emblem. Come out!

I'll prove it to you!

So the Space Ancestral Emblem was never lost?

It had always been with you.

Was anything you said to me not a lie?

Why are you still lying to me now?

Fine!

If you won't come out...

- I'll destroy the Darkness Emblem! - Don't kill him! That Emblem is fake.

Qing Tan.

I can't believe... you've learned to lie too.

Who are you?

I don't know you.

My brother... and you, are the most important people to me.

I don't know you! Leave!

From this day on...

we don't owe each other anything.

This strand of hair is my promise to you.

From this day on... your life is my life.

My apologies.

I was too naive.

Lang Tian... I'm not here to rebuke you, I'm here to retrieve you.

Senior.

You would still come retrieve me?

Let's go back.

You were right.

Clemency ruins people.

You don't need to dwell too much.

Let me take you home and treat your injuries.

After you're healed... you can still be a hero.

You must not know yet.

Lin Dong... has become a Dao Sect disciple.

Is that of any importance?

From this day on...

they...

are all my enemies.

I will never show any more mercy towards my enemies!

He hasn't gone far yet.

- You can-- - Don't speak of it anymore.

We're strangers now.

Mistress... I've cut off all relations.

I will no longer dwell on the past.

Please teach me how to use Darkness Power.

Come with me.

Entering the Dao Sect means leaving yourself behind.

You pledge to the mountain, not any person.

Your old self is being buried here and you are being reborn.

Announcing Sect Master Ying!

- This pledge shall last... - This pledge shall last...

- as long as I live. - as long as I live.

- I pledge my body and soul... - I pledge my body and soul...

- to the ways of the Dao Sect. - to the ways of the Dao Sect.

- Power to the Dao Sect! - Power to the Dao Sect!

Wu Dao.

Arrange the new disciples' living quarters.

Your training begins today.

Fellow disciples!

Our sect is divided into four halls: Sky, Earth, Flood, and Desolate.

All those of Yuan Dan Stage and above can train with the leader of Flood Hall.

In three months

you may proceed to other halls based on your cultivation levels.

Those below the Yuan Dan Stage, follow me.

We will proceed with basic training at Desolate Hall.

Yes!

Senior Wu Dao, when can I see Huan Huan?

You all are still weak.

You're our lowest level disciples, so you must make every effort.

Try to catch up to your fellow disciples as soon as possible.

Lin Dong, Desolate Hall might be the lowest level of all the Halls

but it's peaceful here and quite suitable for cultivating.

From now on, treat this as your home.

- Let me know how I can help you. - Senior, just take it.

You're the prince of an empire, why aren't you at Yuan Gate?

- Why come all the way out here? - I know a senior here.

I'm here to ask him--

What are you all doing?

Hurry and greet your new peers!

A poor boy from some rural town...

He only passed the tests by coincidence and entered our sect.

Exactly! Plus, he completely destroyed Junior Ying.

He must be shameless to have come here.

Fellow seniors, you might not understand the situation.

Lin Dong actually already condensed his Yuan pill.

His level only lowered because he had to protect me from Yimo.

- Is that true? - You can't even protect a woman.

How could he protect a prince?

That's enough!

You've all been here for years. Why bicker with a junior?

Hurry and go prepare a bed for him.

That's the only place left. It's next to the outhouse. Really convenient!

It also can't keep out wind or snow and is even freezing in the summer.

It's perfect for cultivating! This is special treatment.

The prince brought that from the Great Yan Empire!

- I heard it costs 200,000 stones! - 200,000 stones?

A sword worth this much must be very powerful.

Yes!

Lin Dong, your injuries haven't healed yet.

Here, take this.

Prince, what brings you here?

I want to become powerful so I can protect the Great Yan Empire.

I asked my father, and he allowed me to come here to train.

You're the Empire's only prince.

Doesn't the emperor worry?

My father knows of you. He thinks I'll be all right with you.

Let me make this clear. I can barely keep myself alive.

Don't count on me to keep you alive.

I'm the prince of the Great Yan Empire! You're just one of my citizens.

I should be the one protecting you, no?

That's true.

I'll get going for now then, Lin Dong.

Seniors!

My father asked me to bring some greeting gifts for you all.

- 50,000 Yang Yuan stones for everyone! - Goodness, that much?

I hope you enjoy them.

Lin Dong and I are both newcomers.

- Please take care of us! - Senior, we're rich!

Come look at this!

- So many Yang Yuan stones! - Yes!

- Let me try one. - Me too.

Thank you so much!

- This is great. - You try one.

I'd like some too.

Seniors.

The reason I joined the Dao Sect and committed to focus on training

was to repent for what happened to Huan Huan.

There's no need for you to waste your time bickering with someone like me.

That bed location is great.

In the beginning, our four halls weren't separated by rank.

It wasn't until later that a difference in power became apparent.

During that time, the strongest hall wasn't Sky Hall.

It was Desolate Hall.

No one could decipher Desolate Hall's scriptures

and over time, its experts withered away, and then the hall itself fell behind.

The other halls are filled with experts so you might not come out on top.

But here, you can cultivate in peace. It's a rare opportunity.

Over there is the Ice Formation where Huan Huan is cultivating.

Only the most powerful disciples can enter Sky Hall.

As a Desolate Hall disciple

you cannot enter unless it's for a sect meeting.

Otherwise, you'll be severely punished.

The only thing you can do right now is focus on training.

Eventually, you'll be able to see her there.

If only she could wait until then.

What do you mean?

Huan Huan has begun Ice Master cultivation.

She doesn't have much time left.

Senior Wu Dao.

Huan Huan and I have been through life and death together.

Please help me persuade Sect Master to let me see her one more time.

Just once.

I'll try.

He's here!

He's really here!

The Great Desolation Scripture is the most extraordinary technique.

It's extremely demanding, so no disciples have deciphered it.

Except Zhou Tong.

How can I learn it?

The martial arts hall at the end of Desolate Hall.
