- So I had the hard
part of this frog hunt.

I had to be the lookout.

to watch the vehicles.

But when we got back last night,

It scared me 'cause
murry was gone.

- Well, I was sitting there
and I looked over to my right

And I saw a cemetery and I found
out it's tennille cemetery.

- [jase] yeah?

- And I did some research.

The land was called limerick

And there is a gold
and silver story

Associated with that property
right there where we were.

- Really?

- Do we know who owns this?

- I called him and we
got permission to hunt.

- Wasn't that right in the
middle of town where we were?

- [murry] yes.

- You rascal.

- It's local.

- I should have known

While you were out
there in the graveyard,

The whole time you
were doing research.

I thought you'd just gone crazy.

- That's it.

Hey, there's your answer.

- My bad.

helps families financially

With cranial facial issues

And their kids with cranial
facial issues, like me.

I have cleft lip palate,

And so it helps kids like me.

So the fun day is for all
the families with kids

That have cranial facial issues

And they all come
to camp ch-yo-ca.

We have a lot of fun and it's
where kids can be themselves.

They don't have to hide
that they have a cleft.

They get to be with other kids

That have the same
issues as them.

And it's just a lot of fun.

- Yeah.

Most of these kids have
had multiple surgeries.

They're pretty brutal surgeries.

- Yeah, I've had 14.

They're not,

None of 'em are fun.

- [si] I bet.

Yeah.

- But mia's been a trooper.

She handled it well.

She's a lot tougher than us.

But this is a great
thing that you're doing.

And what's the theme
for this year's funday?

- This year's theme is treasure.

So dad, you're gonna be
teaching the kids how to fish.

So what is this place
called we're going, murry?

- It's called limerick.

We're headed just a few
miles down the road.

The land was called limerick

When the house was
originally built.

The dates in the graveyard
prove there were people here

During the 1700s.

This place is over
300 years old,

And that's the kind of place
we want to treasure hunt.

There it is, guys.

- [jep] whoa, this
place looks awesome.

- [jase] it does look awesome.

It does look old.

- A hundred percent,
there's ghosts here.

- What gave it away?

The cemetery?

- And it gets even better.

Rumor has it that

A group of refugees in the
1860s during the civil war

Passing through monroe

Buried gold and silver
coins near limerick,

Which is smack dab in the
middle of monroe, louisiana,

And we're here to find it.

- I feel really good about this.

I've driven through
here for years.

Never even noticed the house,

Much less heard about the gold,

But here we are.

This is exciting.

check this place out.

- [jep] I can't get out.
- Yep.

- You can't figure out

by these old trees

And I'm gonna find lots of gold.

- Well, my game plan is to
bring big sheila out here

And cover these fields.

You know, big sheila
is a deep seeking call

That I invented

That she'll detect
a 50 gallon drum

Over a hundred feet deep.

I mean, this girl
ain't messing around.

- Hey, mom.

- Tomorrow will be what we
call our mia moo funday.

So it's based on the
mia moo fund, f-u-n-d,

And we just tacked a
little a-y at the end,

So our funday weekend,

And it is just to bring
in as many of what we call

Our mia moo families,

Families that we have
helped economically,

That we have helped spiritually,

That we have helped emotionally

Just get through
the day-to-day life

With raising a cleft child.

- [mia] we almost got it,
but it's looking pretty good.

[soft music]

- So we have four children
and mia is the baby.

So 19 years ago she was born
with a cleft lip and palate,

Which is an opening or hole

In the roof of her
mouth and her upper lip.

We found out at 31
weeks gestation,

And we didn't know anything
about what that meant.

We thought it was a
one and done surgery,

But mia has had 14 surgeries
over the last 19 years

And she has suffered
immense pain,

Both physically and emotionally.

So that's hard,

When you just see your
child being rolled away

And you have zero
control over anything

Behind those double doors.

And that happened
14 times for us,

Which is why the
mia moo families

Are so important to each other.

Having that shared connection
through such difficult times

Is what helps us pull
each other through.

Do y'all need some help?

- I think we got it.

- We started this charity
almost 10 years ago

To help families just like us.

And now last year
mia has taken over,

Taken the reins herself,

And it's just been
amazing to see.

I think it's gonna be fantastic.

everything that she's done.

- I haven't hardly
done anything.

her not just take charge,

But put her whole

We haven't found the

From the time period
we're looking for.

The only thing I know that's
in the ground from that era

Are the graves in that cemetery.

What'd you find?

- [murry] a bunch of trash.

- Did you find anything?

- I definitely got
ants in my pants.

- Here's what we need to do.

I'm telling you right now,

We need to move.

Treasure hunting, especially
more than other hobbies,

There's a thin line between

Banging your head up against
a wall and being committed.

I'm gonna find a
map in this area,

Hopefully from the 1800s,
but I will find it.

I'm committed to the
task, but guess what?

My head is hurting.

[jase laughing]

There's one dot here.

There's the cemetery.

On down the way here,
there's clusters of dots.

- What are dots?

- The dots was a structure.

More dots mean more people.

Where the people gather
is where the treasure is,

Is all I'm saying.

- They did say the
treasure was near limerick.

They didn't say it
was at limerick.

- I'm saying we go over there,

And if we can't get permission,
we can come back here.

The heart of a treasure hunter

Is the treasure is always
right over the next hill.

It's always across the road.

It's just the way
our minds work.

According to this map,

Right around this curve,
there's a clump of dots.

It's around this curve
and on this straightaway.

- What we'd like to do is

got a clear tone to it.

But I'm not sure what this is.

You ever seen
anything like this?

- No, I have not.

- Well, I think he's been
dead for a few hundred years.

things I've ever found.

and look what happened.

When we find silver,
it's a happy day.

Quarters made before
1964 were 90% silver

And silver holds up
wonderfully in the soil.

This seated liberty quarter
is in great condition.

[murry chuckling]

It just don't get

kids like to dance.

dances that we do at camp.

This is their favorite
part of the whole day.

She's having a blast.

- She's all grown
up and so confident.

I've been waiting

The theme of this year's mia
moo annual funday is treasure.

I just think that that
is true today for us,

That we are just god's
treasures from heaven.

It took me a while to really
consider myself, like,

Unique in a special way.

I think I was kind of
unhappy with how I looked

Because I did look different.

Especially when you're younger,
you don't look the best.

You're swollen a lot.

You know, sometimes you don't
look like the other kids.

Especially in middle school,

That's like everyone's
trying to fit in.

So when you look different,
you're singled out.

So I think I was kind
of mad at like myself

Or like my parents
or anyone, even god,

Like, why do I look like this?

Like, I don't understand why
I had to be born with this.

And then the summer of my junior
year, I got baptized again.

I realized that I
was made this way

And that god made
me in his image.

And so then I was like, okay,
so I can actually use this

And tell other people that
they're also made in his image,

And that like he does
not make mistakes.

So once I realized that,
I'm super confident,

I'm like, "oh, I'm
so pretty today,"

All this stuff,
because it's true.

And I believe when people
tell me that I'm pretty now.

So then I was able
to live it out

And like get other kids
to think, "oh yeah."

Not even think they're pretty,
like to know they're pretty.

[country music]

But then there's siblings,

Well, I'm glad we moved,

But I wish I'd have
found more stuff.

I got the heart of a lion,

I just have the treasure
hunting skills of an ant eater.

- Jep, you're getting better.

I mean, you're not gonna hit
it out the park every day.

The team found a lot of stuff.

- Well, y'all look like
y'all found a cool spot?

- Oh yeah.

it outta the park.

some of the stuff we found.

Wonderful condition.

- Well, we found a lot of stuff.

This is a lid off a pickle
jar from 1854 as well.

- Yeah.

- It's actually got July 18th.

- That is awesome.

- They're actually pretty rare.

- Yeah, that thing's worth
two or 300 bucks at least.

- Now look, this was crazy.

We think this has come
off a candle arbor,

But we got some other coins
and murry found a axe head and-

- That is awesome.

- I'm gonna tell
you right now, mike,

The best treasure
is this fountain.

Dude, if your feet are hurting,

I've never felt so
good in my life.

- Well, that fountain
has cooled off

A many member of my family.

- [jep] oh really?

- Today was a great
day, and as usual,

We didn't find the overall
goal, which was the gold.

However, the things we
did find were fantastic

And we were reminded that we
gotta stick together as a team.

But tomorrow is
the real treasure.

We're helping kids.

I can't wait.

Today is the day.

Mia has worked extremely
hard to make this day happen,

And we have dozens of volunteers

Who have poured into this
event to make these kids happy.

We all have our
special assignments

And we get to just enjoy the day

Of making these kids feel
loved, chosen and treasured.

- All right, I'm ready.

What are doing, guys?
- Okay, you're here.

We got your special
surprise over here.

- Okay.

What are you guys doing?

- Coffee.

- Morning coffee?

- Oh yeah, morning coffee.

- You guys keep laughing;
it's making me nervous.

So I've always wanted
to do this, I think.

So I mean, this is you?

- This is me.

- I'm you?

- You're me today.

- I'm you after you quit
caring, put on a few pounds.

I was not expecting this to be
my contribution for the day.

I'm a little nervous,
to be honest with you.

- There's your little
cheerleader fit.

- Oh, and a cheerleader.

- [friend] you're
gonna be a cheerleader.

- Okay.

But mia is my niece and I
will do anything for her,

Including shoving my big
self into a mascot uniform.

- Jep found his calling in life.

He was a mascot all along.

- Hey.

look really skinny.

- I know.

A little nauseated.

I'm honestly just
trying not to throw up

Because it's really hot.

Don't like cramped spaces,
so this is difficult.

But it's all worth it.

- [murry] all right, here we go.

- When mia started
heading up this event,

One of the things that
she wanted to do was

When all the kids
and families arrive,

We're throwing a party.

- Woo!

You've grown since
I last seen you.

To have all these people
who are genuinely excited

And are cheering you on from
the moment they see you,

That just does a kid good.

- Oh!

Awe, jep, you're
doing something right.

- You doing good?

You done cut all
your hair off, man.

[jase and toby laughing]

- I've come to the mia
moo funday three times.

I just really like coming here

Because you get to know
people that had this, like,

Same experience as you.

- Hey everybody, I'm just so
excited that y'all are here.

It's been really good to
see a lot of familiar faces

And I've already got to
meet a couple of new faces.

- Our theme for this
year is you are loved,

You are chosen,

And you are treasured by
the creator who made you.

- When our kids come
to mia moo funday,

It's a place where
you kind of feel home.

- Is everybody looking?

- It's like coming back to
a family reunion almost,

And they come out
of their shells.

[upbeat music]

- It's really neat that we've
gotten to a stage of our life

Where now mia plans it
and we just help out.

It's awesome to see her stand up

And solely try to help
all these other families

Who are going through
the same journey she is.

- This is mr. Murry,

And he is a professional
treasure hunter.

- Who wants to
find some treasure?

[party goers cheering]

All of us have a little
treasure hunter in us,

I'm convinced of that.

[metal detector beeping]
now hold it

As close to the ground as
you can and swing like that.

I used it when I was
fighting prostate cancer,

And these kids can
do the same thing

With what they're fighting.

Hey, it's great therapy.

[upbeat music continues]

- Are you getting a
nibble, or is that you?

Maybe you.

- [child] I caught a fish!

- Oh, we're on the board!

Good job!

- I caught a fish.

- [party goer] amazing.

- It's so slimy.

- Do you like green?

- Yeah.

- Green is my favorite color.

- Today has been more than
I could ask for or imagine.

Thinking about mia growing up,

Young mia, child mia
was full of life,

Full of confidence,
full of energy.

And as she grew and started
hitting those tougher years,

Middle school, high school,

That spark, that light,
kind of went out of her.

She started believing,
"you're not good enough.

You're not like the rest
of the people around you,

So you have to settle for less."

And jase and I just kept praying

That she would come back to
the truth that she knows,

And she did.

And now you're
gonna make me cry.

[missy laughing]

When I look at mia at
19 now, today, I think,

"this is nine year old mia.

This is the mia
that I've missed."

- I love this one
and this one, too.

- And seeing her
in this element,

This is the mia that I know.

So I'm very proud.

[dinner bell ringing]

We are about to eat dinner.

- Yes.

- Have y'all had a fun day?

[party goers cheering]

- Yes, yes, yes!

- Okay.

We have some amazing
food for y'all tonight.

So I'm gonna lead us in
prayer, if that's okay.

- Dear lord, we come
to you right now

And we thank you for
such a fabulous day.

We know it's not over yet,

But we just wanna take
this time to say thank you.

We are so blessed by
what you have done for us

And through us and with us,

And we pray that you continue
those blessings on us

And really deep down in
their eyes and their soul,
