I keep hearing,

I'm a psychic medium.

Somebody is conjuring up the spirits
in this house, I swear to God.

I ask questions of the dead...

These people are grave robbers.

dealing with something demonic.

City homicide detective.

It's my job to dig up history
on every house we investigate.

I wanted to run the bloodbath.

And dig up secrets
that wanna stay hidden.

We've done everything
but burn the house down.

I think we have to be

going in there tonight,
just energetically.

Because I feel like,
the house itself attacks people.

A loud house. Angry house.

[Steve] So, I'm out here
in Westminster, Colorado.

Just outside of Denver.

We got called in
by a guy named Job.

He's a married father of five.

And the paranormal
is ripping his family apart.

But here's what makes
this case different.

Job is a professional
paranormal investigator.

So, I asked him
what he needed us for,

and he said he is in over his
head, and he's desperate.

Here's hoping that Cindy and
I can help this family out.

So, Job, you got a beautiful
home, this area's really pretty.

You got your paranormal man
cave, here in the backyard.

It seems like everything
could be great for you.

But when we spoke,
you sounded miserable.

Steve, it's gotten pretty
dangerous around here,

to where it's
attacking our family.

It's attacked me.

To the point where,
even as a professional, you need help.

So, let's follow basics.
Who lives here?

So, here's a picture
of my family.

[Steve] Wow. You got
some crew here.

Are you guys a blended family?
- Yeah.

You've been investigating
the paranormal for how long?

About six years.

So you have any inclination
that it could be something

to do with your work
that's causing all this?

I don't think so.

If it's not work, what do you
think might have caused all this?

I'd say when my cousin Eric
was murdered,

three years ago,
it opened the floodgates.

I'm sorry to hear
about your cousin.

All right, so did they make
an arrest in this case?

Yeah, they found the guy
and he's been convicted.

Okay, so that's something.
It's a little bit of closure.

tell me about your cousin.

[Job] He was a great man.

Would take his shirt

And he always gave people
second chances.

Did he ever live here,
or spend time here?

He was always here.

Why do you think your cousin's
murder has something to do

with the activity
getting worse here.

list of what you guys' are experiencing.

So, there's things
moving on their own.

We hear footsteps.

Strange sounds
throughout the house.

Our moods are being affected
on a daily basis.

Shadow figures and apparitions.

Even to the point
where we're being attacked.

So, Job, when you say moods are
being affected, in what way?

The anger's just so intense
that you just...

You can't hold back.

Do you feel that the...

the issues with the mood
swings and the paranormal here

is gonna tear your family apart?

Just thinking about it
breaks my heart,

[Cindy] Wow.
There's definitely a poltergeist here.

It's creating an environment
where people are so anxious

and so afraid

that they're starting to argue,
they're starting to fight.

So the fear, the anxiety,
the fighting,

it's feeding
the poltergeist activity.

That's what it wants.

There's a combination
of all the things

that creates the perfect storm

to make for a huge mess.

And to really destroy a family.

People are starting to
not trust each other.

Somebody is conjuring up the spirits
in this house, I swear to God.

I just wanna keep saying,
"Stop playing with fire.

"Like, metaphorically
and literally.

"Stop playing with fire."

So, what experiences are going
on that you can tell me about?

So, I have awful,
terrible nightmares.

Okay, can you describe them?

It was as if I was looking
at hell from a distance.

Okay.
- And I could see people burning

in the lake of fire.

And also, there was a bunch of
shadow figures standing around me.

And the pinned me to a cross and
then they hung me upside down.

That's pretty horrific.
Now, let me ask you something.

I take some over the counter medication
to go to bed and it give me...

Not nightmares like that but
it gives me some weird dreams.

You taking anything
to go to sleep? - No.

Okay, so what else
can you tell me?

So, I was laying
on the couch downstairs

and i felt these two big hands

just slap me on the chest

and a deep, guttural demonic
voice just say, "Hey."

- I couldn't breathe. - I don't
even know how to debunk that.

Okay, has anything else
like that happened?

So, we were actually
downstairs, watching TV,

and I had these...
like this burning sensation

on the back of my neck

and turns out, it was scratches.

Did you have an allergic
reaction to anything? - [Job] No.

So, Job, let me ask you
a question,

as a professional
paranormal investigator.

You went into somebody's house,

you just heard exactly
what you told me,

what would you tell 'em?

I would say, "It's time
for you guys to go."

[Cindy] Lot of physical stuff
that happens in this house.

Sometimes people are
hanging out here

and then, all of a sudden,
it's like...

The cupboards are open.

It's like, "What?
How did that happen?"

Are there any other kind
of experiences

the living might be having
with this poltergeist?

I feel like... Beds shake...

Doors slam...

Things flying around...

Physical injuries, pushing.

Would you say the living are
in danger because of this?

They're in danger
of being physically harmed.

They're in danger of being
psychologically harmed.

If something doesn't change,
it's only gonna get worse.

[Steve] So, Melissa,
I talked to your husband, Job,

He says whatever's here
is pretty dangerous

and it's causing everybody
to fight with each other.

I mean, do you agree with that?
- Yeah.

He'll be a totally
different person,

I'll be a totally
different person.

What I'm seeing in our kids is,
quite frankly, terrifying me at this point.

I feel pretty terrified,
actually,

that my family's kinda falling
apart right in front of me.

And I feel like
I should know what to do.

Right.
- But I don't.

Okay, so,
what experiences can you tell me?

I heard this tremendously
loud banging noise.

Okay, where was it?
- Upstairs, on the front door.

We were in the kitchen area.

Okay, so, how loud was the bang?

It was super intense and loud.

Okay. Obviously, you went to the door.
- I ran to the door.

There was nobody there.

Okay, so, you had that banging.
Anything else?

I never feel alone, ever.

Always being watched.

And there's always something
with me. Following me.

So, do you feel that
way, right now? - Yes.

So you're feeling it now,
do you have any sense

as to, like,
where it's coming from?

It just always feels
like it's just nearby,

just out of arm's reach.

Just over my shoulder.

Well, you got a lot of stuff
going on in this house. - Yeah.

I mean, most people
would have just left.

[Cindy] There's a really
pissed off male spirit

that is on this property.

He's all over this place.
He's all over it.

Oh, my God.

He sits in this chair

when people are sleeping.

Like, they would feel
like somebody's watching them.

A lot of anger,
rage, aggression.

Violence towards women.

Physically abusive.

He does have the ability to make
people feel like they're choking

and he does have the power
to push people.

So, could they fall
down the stairs? Yes.

When I'm sitting in this bed,

know that there are terrible,

terrible nightmares

of really dark scenes.

There's blood, there's gore,

there's murder.

He doesn't like this family.

He doesn't want
this family in this house.

He especially doesn't want
the kids to be happy.

He's somebody
who wants to kill the family,

like, he is so pissed off.

[Steve] So, I was talking to Mom and Dad
about the stuff that's going on here.

And, sounds pretty scary.

Are you guys
experiencing anything here?

Yeah.
- You are? Okay.

So Anabelle,
I'm gonna start with you.

Can you tell me about some of
the stuff you're experiencing?

Well, I had an experience
in my room,

that I've been feeling watched.

Is there any spot in the room
you feel it's coming from?

My closet.

[Steve] Your closet. Okay.

And when does this happen?

All the time.
- Yeah, and does it scare you?

Yeah, okay.

So, Daisy, what experiences
can you tell me about?

I could hear
these heavy footsteps.

Okay. Can you describe
what it sounds like?

It sounds like heavy boots.

[Steve] When you heard
these footsteps,

did you go up to check
to see if anybody was up?

Yes, I have, multiple times.

And every time I come back
to tell my parents,

nobody's there.
- Okay.

And what else
have you experienced?

One time, I was on
a video call with my friend.

And she was, like, "Daisy,
there's somebody standing behind you."

And then I looked back
and there's nothing there.

Did your friend say
if it was male or female?

Male.
- Okay.

Do you wanna move or would you rather
us try to fix this so you can stay?

Fix this so you could... so we can stay.
- You wanna stay.

If we can have it fixed
and still stay here,

it'd be a lot better
than moving.

Okay. So then, that's the deal.
We're gonna have to fix this.

That sound like a plan?
- Yeah.

Okay.

Oh, boy.

I don't like it.

The girl that sleeps
in this room

is really affected
by this house.

I just feel like,

she's waking up screaming
in the middle of the night.

The image I'm seeing,

is her bedroom door

and a line of spirits

just, like, waiting to get in.

Do you think this girl
has abilities? - Yes.

The girl who sleeps in this
room is definitely tapped in,

and is definitely
feeding this activity,

And I feel like she is in danger

because she doesn't
understand what's happening.

It is dangerous for her.

Yeah.

[Steve] So, I was talking
to Mom and Dad today.

They were telling me
about all the scary stuff

that's going on
in the house here.

You guys having a tough time?
- Yeah.

Say, Carson, will you tell me about
some of the stuff you've had happen?

I've had anger...

I don't know
where it comes from.

I'll sit... I'll be
sitting in my bed

and I'll feel like I need to punch
or, like, punch the wall.

Does it just come on?

Yeah, it just turns on,
like... - Out of nowhere?

Yeah, it just... a flick of
a switch and then I'm mad.

Does this happen to you at school?
- Mmm-mm.

So, it's only here,
when you're home?

Okay.

So, Millie, cutie pie,

can you tell me
what you've experienced?

Yeah.

So, I was on the couch

and somebody just pushed
me down right here.

Yeah, it was so hard.

Yeah? Show me
on my hand, how hard.

It was like that.
- Ooh.

Okay.

Did that scare you?

yeah.
- Yeah, I bet it did. Okay.

So, Ainsley, why don't you tell
me what you've experienced.

Me and my friend
were upstairs on this couch.

We just see, like,
this big, watery man

just... it just came
out of nowhere.

Okay, you say watery man

like it just appeared off something
as water and it shaped into a man?

Mmm-hmm.

What did it do?

It was just standing there,
like, just...

moving back and forth.

That must have scared you.

So, Carson, you know
what Dad does, right?

Yeah. - Are you interested
in doing that one day?

Kind of.

What about you Millie,
you like what Dad does?

No.

Millie, how come you don't like it?
Does it scare you?

Yes.

How about you, Ainsley?
- I don't really like,

sometimes, what he does

because I don't want
any ghost to hurt him.

Right, Yeah.

Ooh, I don't
like this room either.

Ooh, I don't like it.

The kids are so affected
by the activity in this house,

I worry about what could happen.

Wouldn't wanna be having
slumber parties in this house.

It's not a good idea.

This is not good.

It is not good at all.

What I feel very confident about

is that one of the kids

opened up a doorway

for a lot of spirits
to come hang out.

And not all of them are nice.

[Steve] So I pulled the deed
on Job's property,

and gave it to a local
genealogist who's helping me out.

She just called me.

She says, one of the original
owners of the land

had a blessed life.

But all that changed the
second he bought that property.

So, Sara, thanks again for
helping me out with this case.

Um, what did you find out
about this guy?

So, his name is Charles Harris.

He was born in 1853,

in Connecticut.
- [Steve] Okay.

[Sara] And then came to Denver

after he graduated
from Yale Law School.

[Steve] So he's a smart guy.

Does he get involved with a
woman, get married? What happens?

Charles circulated in very
wealthy circles in Denver.

And that's how he met and
married Florence Rust,

the daughter
of a wealthy lumber bear.

Florence brough $100,00
to the marriage

that went directly into
Charles' bank account.

Okay so now he's got this
hundred grand in the bank,

what's he wind up
doing with the money?

So, he starts buying up
property all over town.

In 1887, he buys
hundreds of acres,

including the property that you
are currently investigating.

So, on the phone,
you mentioned how things went bad

one he got the property.
What happened?

So, everything looked
like it was going okay

until Charles and Florence and their
children moved into the property.

They had four children.

And in 1889, the whole family
got sick with diphtheria.

So, from what I know
about diphtheria,

that's a pretty
serious infection.

Yes. they called it
the "strangling angel",

because it actually
closed the throat.

All right, so the four kids have it.
What happened?

So, tragically,
two of their children died.

Charles Jr, and their
daughter, Margaret... - Okay.

...died withing 36 hours
of each other.

How old was Charles?

So, Charles Jr.
was four years old.

And how old was the daughter?
- Margaret was only a year old.

And that's their obit.

All right. So, this was
a real tragedy.

How did they recover from this?
Or did they?

So, they didn't recover.

Things went from bad to worse.

His investments started to tank

and he lost
over half of his wealth.

With his failing businesses
and losing two kids,

Harris becomes a beaten man.

And that's when Florence
calls it quits.

In 1892,
Florence files for divorce.

So this is a pretty thick
divorce decree.

What were the claims that
she wanted the divorce for?

So, the first claim was that Charles
stole all the family's money.

The second claim,
she claims that

her children actually died
because of his neglect.

And the third cause

was that he was
going around town,

telling everyone
that she was insane.

Okay, so it sounds like this guy might
not have been such a great person.

Um, what happened after the
divorce with the two of them?

So, Charles ends up alone.

And he moves to North Carolina.

Things get any better for him?

There wasn't a happy ending.

So, in 1944,
he suffers from several falls

and breaks both of his hips.

Okay.
- He ended up bedridden

and lost his ability to eat.

So he starves to death.

That's a miserable way to go.

So...
- And he dies at the age of 90.

[Steve] This death certificate
screams "died a broken man".

Yes.

I'm seeing
the angry old man again.

The name Charles
just came to me, as well.

Charlie? Charlie.

Violence towards women.

Just not a nice guy.

This man hated his wife
when he was alive.

I feel like they had a daughter.

I feel like that had...

a daughter and a son.

I feel like there's one of each.

He's not at peace.

There's no peace for him.

Miserable.

This guy definitely doesn't
wanna talk about his life.

So, I'm gonna try
some automatic writing,

and see if I can get some
information that way.

[clears throat]

The angry man
is connected to this property.

I feel like he would have
died very close to here

or around here.

He's angry that he had to...
that he died.

He's angry that he had to leave.

It carries over
into the afterlife.

He's super angry.

[Steve] So I just got a call
from a local historian.

He tells me Job's property used
to be part of a large orchard.

And there was a very mysterious
death right on the land.

So, Joel, thanks again
for helping me

with this case.
What happened?

So, on July 5th of 1908,

a group of boys went to
the orchard to go swimming.

- What happens next? - So,
when they arrive a 19-year-old...

by the name of
Paul Robert Rudolph

jumped into the lake.

He suddenly let out a scream

and sunk beneath
the surface of the water,

All right. So this kid disappears
after letting out a scream.

Did they ever recover his body?

They did but it took them
several hours to do so.

After raking
and dredging the lake,

they finally pulled out
his lifeless body.

It's kind of a mystery.

Paul was a very strong swimmer.

So they are not sure why he
drowned in the lake that day.

[Steve] The circumstances
of this are very strange.

So we got a healthy 19-year-old,
that was a good swimmer,

drowns out of nowhere.

Strange.

[Cindy] There's a spirit of a
16-year-old boy that's also here.

The spirit of a 16-year-old boy

that interacts with
the kids in this house.

Any idea
how he interacts with them?

[Cindy] I feel like
they'll see him.

He... He talks to the kids.

He influences the kids.

Have I said the name Bobby yet?

Rober or Bob, that name?

Okay.

I feel like
he died unexpectedly.

I feel like it's a tragedy.

I feel like it's an accident.

I don't feel like
it was on purpose.

He lives here because he
wants to have a family again.

who believes the dead

on the same property where
a former owner lost two kids

and his marriage.

But I wanna see
if there's anything else.

Searching through old records,
I find an article

about the murder
of a notorious gangster.

Turns out,
this homicide happened

just down the street
from Job's house.

I'm heading over
to meet a local author

who says the victim was part
of a famous crime family.

She says he managed
to survive prison

and life as a gangster.

But he couldn't
survive his own marriage.

Lisa, I appreciate you
looking into this case for me.

Um... So it sounds like this guy was
part of an infamous crime family.

What can you tell me about him?

Well, it was 51-year-old
Lloyd Barker.

Does he have anything
to do with Ma Barker?

That's right. He was one
of her four sons.

All right. So I know they were
involved in a lot of crimes

So what did he do to go to jail?

In 1921, he
and some of the gang,

robbed at gunpoint a US Mail
truck in Baxter Springs, Kansas.

And Lloyd was sentenced
to 25 years

in Leavenworth Federal Prison.

And...

here is a copy of his mugshot.

All right. So, does he do the whole 25 years?
Or does he get out early?

Or what happened?

He was let out early, in
1938, after just 16 years.

He was let out
for good behavior.

All right, so it's 1938,
he's out.

Does he go back to a life of
crime or does he stay straight?

He turns over a whole new leaf.

He enlists in the US Army,
becomes a cook

at a POW camp.

And is then honorably discharged

and even wins
a good conduct medal.

And the moves
to the Westminster area

and becomes an assistant
manager at a restaurant.

All right. So, Lisa,
I know from our conversation

that he gets killed by his wife.

What do we know about her?

Uh, so, In 1946,

he met and married
a single mom named Jennie.

She had two kids from a
previous marriage. - Okay.

And then she and Lloyd had
two children of their own.

You know,
from the outside looking in,

it looks like everything is
great, right? - Yeah.

What went wrong?

So, Jennie started to show signs
of mental illness pretty early on.

Um, and back in the day,

people didn't talk about it.
Just wasn't dealt with. - Right.

So, she never
got professional help.

Not that we know of.

All right. So, take me through the murder.
What the hell happened?

Okay, so it's March 18th, 1949.

And Lloyd goes to work like
he always does every morning.

And when he gets there,
he gets a phone call from Jennie,

saying, " I don't feel well.
Come home and see about the kids."

Okay. - So he goes home
like a good husband.

Puts his key in the lock,
opens the door,

and is met by Jennie
with a 20-gauge shotgun.

She shoots him in the head.
He dies instantly.

Just like that. So he walked into an ambush?
- That's right.

There's an article about it.

[Steve] So I assume she's
arrested and charged with murder?

Yes.

Okay, so now,
what happens at the trial?

So the jury deliberates
for all of 12 minutes

before coming back
with a verdict.

Not guilty
by reason of insanity.

Okay, so this poor slob winds up

turning his life around
after getting out of prison.

trying to raise a family,
working hard.

And then she blows
his [bleep] brains out.

Yeah. Mmm-hmm.
- Just like that.

Okay.

I feel like somebody
got shot around here.

I feel like there's...

...a murder.

I don't know
that it's in this house,

but it has to be close.

I feel like
there might be something

in the ground around here.

Like, bodies in the ground.

It's just...

something's off.

I keep hearing,
"Murder, murder, murder."

There's a murderer around
here, I swear to God.

I saw a lot of terrifying
things in my walk.

But that line of dead going
into a living girl's room,

that has me really worried.

There are several,
several spirits.

Like a train of spirits
going out of the door.

What did they look like?

I saw an older woman
wearing a dress.

I saw a tall man
right behind her.

I saw a teenager.

It's, like,
a variety of spirits.

I mean, they are even, like,
lined up in the doorway.

Next, I described
a terrifying scene

that I saw in the main bedroom.

I saw this very angry...

older man.

sitting in the chair,
just staring at the parents

while they're sleeping.

And he looked like he was
around 68-69 years old.

He had grease on his hands.

Cindy, is this what you saw?

Yeah, that's exactly what I saw.

[Steve] Now that Cindy and I have
completed our investigations,

we're ready to reveal
our findings to each other

and our clients,
for the first time.

So, Cindy,
I'd like you to meet Job

and Melissa.

They're married
and have a blended family.

Actually, a big, blended family,

with five kids.

Wow.

[Steve] Now, they seem happy
but looks can be deceiving.

This is a family in crisis.

The paranormal is ripping them apart.
- Mmm-hmm.

If we can't help them tonight,

they're not sure
they're gonna make it.

So, Cindy, when she's ready
can tell us about

how things went on her walk.

[Cindy] When I was walking
in the back of the house,

I saw a guy by the RV

and he was holding
a double-barrel shotgun.

I felt like
somebody had been shot.

And there is a lot
of blood involved.

And at one point, I kept hearing,
"Murder, murder, murder."

You know, Cindy,
in my investigation,

I actually did come across
a murder that happened here.

It was a long time ago

but it involved
a woman shooting her husband.

But it sounds like
the perp you saw was a man.

Yeah.

So, you should know of another
murder involving a man,

who spent a lot
of time in this house,

and that's Job's cousin Eric.

I got a photo
of him, right here.

[Job] Eric was a good man.

He was the type of guy that
gave his shirt off his back.

And his heart was so big.

When he died,
it ruined our family.

I'm sorry for your loss.

[Melissa] He was
always at our house.

Big part of the kids' lives.
All right. - Yep.

They all love him
and adore him.

He was everybody's,
like, best friend.

Mmm-hmm.

[Job]When he was
ripped away from this world

it opened a floodgate
of paranormal.

Have you seen him in the house

since he's passed away?

No, But we'll get, like...

He used to smoke
Marlboro cigarettes.

And he would... And you
can smell it in the house.

When you smell cigarette smoke,

that's him coming to say hello.

And coming to say,
"I love you."

His soul's at peace.

That's gotta
make you feel better.

It does.

The next thing
that I wanna talk about

really has me concerned.

I feel like
somebody in the house

is trying to communicate
with spirits.

And because of this and other things
that we're gonna discuss later,

I feel like the house has become

sort of like a gateway
for the dead.

Random spirits are coming
in and out all the time.

[sighs]

Job, I think it's probably
time we tell Cindy

what you do for a living.

We do professional
paranormal investigating.

Wow. Okay.

When I walked
into the back bedroom,

I saw a child
who is deeply affected

by paranormal activity.

[Steve] So,
which bedroom was it?

[Cindy] Down the hall,
to the right.

[Steve] So, that's Daisy's room, right?
- [Melissa] Yeah.

I thought she was
around 11 or 12.

[Steve] She's 12.

I saw her waking up

in the middle of the night,
saying something like,

"There's a monster in my room.
There's a monster in my bed."

I think she has abilities.

I think she's a medium.

But she doesn't understand
her gift and it scares her.

During my walk,
I saw a lot of people

standing in line,
waiting to talk to her.

I had a sketch done
of what I saw.

[gasps]

Yeah.
- You ain't kidding.

That's [bleep] up.

[Cindy] That terrified me.

It's like a waiting room.
- [Cindy] Mmm-hmm.

[Job] It makes me
feel like a fool

because I'm supposed to be

the protector of my family

and we pride ourselves
on going out and battling

outside

and the battle's inside my home.

[Steve] I'm afraid to even ask
you if you've seen anything else.

There's definitely poltergeist
activity in this house,

and it's really bad.

It's really dangerous,

On a scale of one to ten,
I feel like it's 11.

[whistles]

For poltergeist
activity to occur,

I think you need three
ingredients you need to have.

Tragedy, something on the land.

You need to have
somebody who is open.

And you need to have arguing
or turmoil in the home.

Yeah.

Job, Melissa and the
kids have been fighting,

which is not normal for them,
all the time.

We try to wake up
and be really positive.

And think "Okay, today is a new
day, fresh start."

And then,
somebody is inexplicably

angry or out of character

or just completely
it's like they're not

the same people.

[Steve] Carson was telling me he gets
so mad he wants to punch the wall.

The poltergeist activity
can cause

a lot of physical activity

on the front door that day.

Yeah, our front door, a loud...

horrifically loud bang.

like SWAT was about to
come in our house.

There was nobody there.

[Steve] Now you mentioned
it about getting physical.

I got a photo here of...

Job.

[Job] We were watching TV

and I felt, like,
a burning sensation on my neck.

And I asked Melissa,
"Can you check and see what it is?"

And she's like, "You got couple
of scratches on your neck."

Now, does all this sound
lie poltergeist activity?

Absolutely, yeah.
- Okay.

[Cindy] The next thing
I wanna talk about

is the dead man
who is very active

in your house.

Mmm-hmm.
- Very angry.

Very aggressive.

To me, he felt to be
in his late 60s.

I was getting the name
Charles, or Charlie.

He hated his wife.

[Melissa hums]
- Hated his wife.

He is very abusive
and violent towards women.

And I feel like he and his wife

had a daughter
and a son, together.

So, they had kids.
But he doesn't like kids in the house.

I feel like
he lived on this property

or connected to the property.

e's really, really angry
that he's dead.

He's angry that he died.

And the rage that he felt
in the living,

he carried it to the afterlife.

Well, I have a pretty good
idea who you are talking about.

His name was Charles Harris.

Oh, my God.

So, this is him, right here.

Wow.

So he ended up marrying the
daughter of a wealthy lumber baron.

He got her
to deposit a hundred grand

into his bank account
after they got married.

Absolute fortune
back in the 1800s.

In 1887, he bought up
hundreds of acres

which included the land
your home sits on.

The minute he bought this
property, that's when his life

went straight downhill.
- Mmm.

In 1889, Charles was living here
with his wife and four kids.

When the entire family
got diphtheria.

Tragically, Charles lost
his young son and daughter

to the disease,
within 36 hours of each other.

Oh...

The son was four and the daughter
was, like, one.

I actually have their obit here.

Now, losing two kids
is bad enough, right?

But things continued to spiral
downhill for Harris after that.

Uh, his investments tanked

and he wound up losing
half his net worth.

And it that wasn't bad enough,

his wife Florence
filed for divorce in 1892.

I've got his divorce
decree right here.

And it's a big one.

You mentioned this man
was not a nice guy, right?

Yeah. - [Steve] Harris'
wife would agree.

According to this decree,

she blamed him
for the deaths of the kids

saying he was neglectful.

And then she accused him

of going around town
telling everybody

she was crazy.

Now, after the divorce,
he winds up selling the property,

ad moved to the Carolinas
in 1905.

In 1944, he suffered a couple of
falls and broke both his hips.

Now, he was bedridden,

and was in so much pain,

he couldn't eat.

I'm going to show you the death certificate.
As you can see,

it's hard to read, but...

Basically, it says
he starved to death.

[Cindy] Oh...

Could this be the guy Angry guy?
- Yes.

That's crazy
because I've seen him.

[Cindy] You have?

[Job] I have.
- Mmm-hmm.

[Job] He sits on the couch. - [Melissa]
He sits on the black couch downstairs.

[Cindy] Okay.

I saw him sitting in the chair.

The rocking chair
next to your bed.

He was just staring at you
while you sleep.

And I had a sketch done
of what I saw.

[Steve] Oh, Jesus.

He even looks miserable.

Good grief.

That's how he looks when
he sits on the couch, too.

You can just
catch glimpses of him.

[Cindy] Well,
he's really active all over the house.

He's very physical.

He can give people nightmares.

Push people. Shoves people.

It does not want
kids in the house.

Tell her about
you being smothered.

I was laying on the couch and...

I felt these two big hands

just smash into my chest.

Almost to the point
it knocked the wind out of me.

Smashed my face into the pillow,

and was suffocating me.

If it had a couple more
seconds, I wouldn't be here.

Mmm-hmm.

Now, you mentioned nightmares.

You told me
about your nightmares.

Tell Cindy about that?

I saw these black shadows
around the bed.

and they pinned me to a cross.

And as the walls were crumbling,

I'm looking out...
in the distance

and there's this,
like, a lake of fire.

And I can see people
burning and screaming.

When I woke up,
I was just terrified.

And you said this guy hates kids.
Wasn't Millie pushed?

Yeah.

You could hear her land.

And she, to this day,
will tell you...

like, she's like,
"I felt big hands,

"so strong, push me."

His goal would be
to have you all die.

You wanna protect
your family and your kids

and this [bleep] is
sitting in your chair.

Just pisses me off, you know.

I feel guilty.

Like I'm letting
them down somehow.

My heart hurts.

[Steve] So, Job, I'll take a bet

that most paranormal
investigators

would be too proud
to call in anybody for help.

So you deserve
a ton of credit for that.

I know you did it
'cause your number one concern

is keeping your family together.

So now we're gonna find out

if you can become
a loving family again

and if so,

can you do it while still
living in this house.

For those answers,
I'm gonna turn it over to my partner, Cindy.

[Cindy] You guys have
a lot going on in your home.

So first things first,

Charles...
Gotta get rid of Charles.

You need to have

a medium come in

and talk to this man.

And try to get him to leave.

Any particular medium?

Has it gotta be a man or a woman?
Does it matter?

With Charles, I would honestly
recommend having a male medium come in.

Because he hates women so much,

he'll be more open
to listening that way.

Okay.

Secondly, I really think Daisy
should meet with a medium

so she can learn
how to control her abilities.

That's really important.

Once she does that,

I really think
the dead will leave the house.

Next, you need
to have a house blessing.

And as you both know,
salt can be effective.

So, putting salt
around the house.

If you do all of these things,

and you can get Charles to go,

then the poltergeist activity

should calm down.

The fighting, I would hope,
would calm down.

And I think that you can
stay in your home.

- That's great news.
- Good news.

That's incredible news.

And there's one other thing
that I did for you

when I was in the house
during the walkthrough.

I do spirit art.

And I drew one
of your spirit guides

who, I believe,

can be helpful in the home.

So, I feel, you can hang him
on the wall.

[Melissa] Yeah. Oh, my God.

That's awesome to feel
like you have backup.

That you're not
the only one in the fight.

Yeah.

I just wanna make sure

that you're gonna listen to what Cindy
tells you to do... - [Melissa] Yeah.

of the heavy lifting part.

They have a lot of work to do.

that if they follow my advice,

the unwanted dead
will leave the house,

and they can go back
to being a loving family.
