THE FÜHRER'S VISIT TO ITALY

After a moving farewell in Berlin

and great displays of affection

for the leader of the Third Reich

throughout his journey
across Germany,

the train carrying
the Führer enters Italy.

Jubilant greetings
from fascist organizations

all along the route

accompany Hitler
on his triumphal journey to Rome.

From the Brenner Pass to Rome,
Italy greets the Führer

with disciplined decorum
from her political factions

and sincere spontaneity
from the general public.

Meanwhile...

the capital
has prepared a welcome

of pomp combined with majestic
simplicity for the Führer.

The fascist emblem
meets the swastika,

and the two nations' flags
stream side-by-side in the wind.

At the Ostiense railway station,
Mussolini,

with his foreign minister,
Count Galeazzo Ciano,

greets His Imperial Majesty the King.

A single cannon shot heralds

the arrival of the Führer's train,
