a half to two miles

and we are really

weeks left on this challenge.

can my body take of this?

I still haven't even gotten

It's gonna be mind

Today, I get to introduce the guys to
one of my little favorite gems I found,

and that is the delicacy
of a crocodilian tongue.

This should do the trick.

I'm gonna make
a quick steam rack

for a couple of pieces
of meat we have left.

So, I think we're basically just
gonna put these two in the pot

with some of these
smaller sticks on top.

Put it like an inch
of water below it

and have it, steam it into
tasty, gooey goodness.

A couple of days ago, I'm
standing there looking out

into the unknown from 40 to 60.

Not totally sure that my body
is gonna be able to make it.

So just to have
a score like this.

It's incredible.

It makes me feel a lot
better about my decision

to stay here for the long haul.

[Matt] That's a jelly
roll. Here's the tongue.

[Matt] And with these two
sitting like that over the water,

they're only gonna
get cooked by steam,

pure moisture and heat.

and we're not small guys,

so we're gonna probably

and I would say it's maybe
gonna last for two days.

getting a lot of fat in us.

We really are setting
ourselves up for success

venture off on your own?

[EJ] I was trying to find
some other hunting grounds.

Find food for my team.

I was with Steven and Amber in an abandoned
camp with a big tree knocked over.

was my old camp.

It's been nice. There's a creek.

Oh, yeah. The
magic fishing hole?

[EJ] Yeah, it's a walk.

I didn't think we could sustain
every day walking two miles

and walking down
there, I got on the hunt.

I told those guys that I
would be a couple of days.

I took a big gamble.

It almost killed me.

But when I got here, I
knew I made the right move.

Once I get my strength up,

'cause that was
a hell of a walk,

I want to get out here and
see what there is to hunt

to get a big score for
Amber and Steven.

I sleep well on the ground,
so I won't need much room.

[Dan] We definitely
have space for you.

close to and very hard to get a shot at.

So, as I'm sneaking up, I
am slow, but yet I am fast.

I'm still not 100% recovered
yet, but I'm feeling pretty good

I'm sure Steven and Amber are worried
about me, but I found a better setting

I have no doubt in my mind
where we need to be now.

I just need to go grab them
and get them over here.

[Matt] How have you been
weaving these in, Dan?

[Dan] Well, so these ones
we're putting in groups of three

and then just lash them to
each other and put them up.

[Waz] So basically,
what I've gotta find

is about probably 60
of these size pieces

for floor slats for the treehouse
and that's all framed up,

we just need to
put some slats down

and put a ladder in and
the we can start using it.

So, they need to
be about eight feet,

probably about another
foot above my hand.

So, this one's a good size.

I'll just take these back
and see how we do.

Basically, one of those
will be strong enough

to hold someone standing
on it without breaking,

it would be a nice place
to just overlook the fishing.

We've had a few birds come
and land in here recently,

so I might have
me a bit of a blind.

How is this gonna work out?

[Matt] We got that
treehouse we started.

[Dan] It can totally be altered or
changed, however we find practical.

Steven and I can go over there.

I built one here once
before eight years ago, so.

Adding two more to the tribe

means we're gonna
have to expand.

We're gonna get all
together as a team,

kind of divide and conquer

and shore up this
treehouse that Waz started.

Legends, we just roll.

[Steven] What I was thinking is just like
those suspension beds that we have in there.

[Narrator] To modify
the existing platform,

the group plans to
build an a-frame roof

covered with palms
above the upper level

and two elevated
beds for the lower level.

Materials are the first step.

What do we need other
than cordage and palm?

A whole bunch of palms.

- You can bring all of it over.
- Perfect. Go, team.

[Waz] Matt, EJ and I are gonna
chop one of the cordage trees down.

It's a bit of a
labor intensive job.

Right here. There
she goes. Boom.

[Matt] Then we have to
peel the outside layer of bark,

which is about half inch thick.

That's backbreaking work.

The cordage we're looking
for as the inside layer

of that of that outside
bark of the tree.

[EJ] We're doing more stripping
than I used to in my single days.

[Matt] This would be
enough for two beds.

[Dan] We started getting all our
materials ready for bedding and lashing,

roofing supplies for framework.

[Steven] Now we're
gonna make two beds.

One for me, one for Amber.

[Matt] Never count out
the importance of comfort.

Without a doubt,
building out here

is one of the
probably most calorie-

demanding things you can do.

But Steven and Amber, at this
point, they've had a rough go.

So, if we're spending the calories
for them, I'll be happy to do so.

start on the roof.

It's gonna take two
of us to tie these...

It hasn't been fished for a few
days, so it's probably pretty good.

[Matt] Working on the treehouse,

we used a lot of calories,

so we just need a
little food in our belly.

luck at blow darting.

Getting good at
it. That's my plan.

[Matt] Having guys
and gal out here

that know how to fish and know how
to put food on the table, that's huge.

[Steven] This is a whole new
area, so I got to learn everything.

This new fishing environment.

[Steven] It's totally different
from where we were.

What type of bait
you usually use?

Since Matt's turned up, I've been
learning a lot with the bow and arrow,

just getting better and better.

That's part of being
a good survivalist,

is picking up on little tips and
tricks from the people around you.

I feel more and more
confident, ready to test my skills.

I have to thrive in
this kind of a moment,

because to hunt, it means you

the southern sector of our area.

and find anything like
a caiman or capybara.

It's very, very quiet. I
have to push further north.

this new fishing environment.

from where we were,

At my last camp I got to

The way they're hitting
is just at weird times

and you don't know
how you have it

until you really go
somewhere else.

and that's all we can really do.

six, you just doubled it.

That's twice the distance that
our human smell is traveling,

I'm going to boil
three pots right now

and just get it
done for the day.

have to go twice the distance

to find the game.

And this part of the challenge,

you don't have a lot of in
the tank to go hunt further.

is getting to me a little bit.

I scoured what I believe
to be every walkable

part of our environment here.

Nothing.

Couldn't find a thing.

It's just not where the,
the game is right now.

So I've kind of decided
something has to happen

to try to get us a little
bit up in the game.

I'd like to do an actual
hunt in a different location.

- Spend a couple of nights there.

bit extra savage.

It's one of those things like,

I know it's safety in
numbers sometimes.

At this point, I'm putting in
some long, long days hunting.

So it's time for probably
a little remote hunting trip,

somewhere I could spend
some calories to get away,

immerse myself in that spot

and see if it has a big success.

of all our opportunities

The biggest risk we're going
to have is that we go out there

and we get so calorie depleted
that we are just burned up

and barely can
crawl ourselves back.

This is a huge, probably
10,000 calorie journey,

but where there's risk,
there's always reward

and there's a potential we
could bring back so much food,

we can actually all have a
stuffed belly for extraction day,

and that right there
is worth the risk.

sitting pretty close up in the middle.

So I'm going to go see if I
can't bring one back for dinner.

- [Dan] And you got all the broadheads you need?

Yeah, I got everything I need.

We're just walking
out of camp right now.

I've got a bow and four arrows.

A few of the horned
screamers, not too far upriver.

They're sitting in
a pretty good spot

that I know I can
have access to,

and I'll have a
pretty good shot at it.

It's just going to take a little
bit of time stalking up on them

so they don't hear me coming

and I can get close
enough to get a shot away.

[Waz speaking]

They're right in the middle,
that's where the blind is.

So I'm going to
sneak up into the blind

and wait till they're
ready to go to bed.

And wait till they come up into
that roost and get them there.

This is our little hunting
blind that we've made.

I can see down at the river
in a few different directions.

So I'm just going to sit here and
wait for 'em, and see what happens.

Day 50 to this challenge,
and I'll tell you what,

we are putting in more calories
than the average person would do

in the first week.

Absolutely.

Just hoping that we have
a big score for the group.

It's coming to a bit
of a price because

Steven and I are
getting worn out.

We have to downshift,
do some fishing real quick.

Get a little food
in our stomach.

We're keeping our heads
up doing what we do best.

We're tired.

We haven't got a lot of caloric
intake, but you can't just stop.

lot of trial and error

me and Matt figured
out the key here,

got a few these little wolffish.

This right here is going
to give us a nice fish stew.

I think we both needed it with the
amount of calories we put in today.

These aren't monsters.

But, you know, four of
these, it's pretty good.

Every little bit goes a long
way out here in the Amazon.

[Horned screamer quacks]

There're two good sized horned
screamers sitting on the water

on the other side.

I almost had a good
shot of them on this side,

but the male want to mate with
the female, messed it up for me

and she flew off
to the other side.

So, he followed her over there.

That was one that just left.

Oh, that was the second one.

So, unfortunately,
no dice on those guys.

I think something might have
spooked them on the other side,

maybe a monkey or
something like that.

It's pretty frustrating
being so close to something

that you want to harvest
to eat and not being

able to just reach
out and get it.

Especially with this group
getting weaker and weaker,

I need to get something that can
put a little bit of food in our bellies

and keep us going,
keep us strong.

It's a rat.

The brush tailed tree rat about
ten feet, 15 feet in front of me.

Definitely that squirrel shaped,
like a weasel, squirrel shape.

But I don't think I'm going
to get any closer than this.

[Waz] Oh, you bitch.

I missed by a centimeter.

My other arrow's in the tree.

That was a decent shot.

I just hit the tree
instead of the squirrel.

muscles new memory here.

us the calories we need to.

That was disheartening because of
all the time we spent sitting last night.
