This way

Wing-shing

Wing-sing

Ching-shan, you said Wing-sing would be safe

How come he's lying here?

Wing-shing, I don't know

But they were secretly transferred back

For the capture of Fu Jing-wan

You should know there are so many departments in the party

I can't know everything

Moreover, theirs is a secret mission

For the capture of Fu Jing-wan?

Then he shouldn't have died

What happened?

Wing-shing, you may not believe it

But it's the Red bandits' doing

They are so ruthless

In order to save their own skin

They killed Wing-sing

You have to keep your mind calm

Wing-sing is your brother

He's my brother too

He called me Brother Ching-shan

When you wouldn't trust me

He believed me

Wing-sing, rest assured

I promise you I'll make Fu Jing-wan pay

This could not be Fu Jing-wan's doing

Wing-shing, wake up

The truth is in front of you

Wing-sing's cold dead body is here

Wake up

And there's another thing you should know

I was informed

Man helped Fu Jing-wan escape

He's now an accomplice of the Red bandits

Wing-shing

Fu Jing-wan, what nerve

You dare to come here in disguise

You communists are human or not?

Why? He's your comrade

Why did you kill him?

Wing-shing, Brother Fu has got nothing to do with Wing-sing's death

I can testify to it

If it's not him it must have been his men who did it

His neck was wrung

He was killed before he fell

Wing-shing, I promised Wing-sing

I'll make him pay now

Lam Ching-shan, you want Wing-sing's death to remain a mystery?

Wing-shing, can't you tell? They are putting on an act here

Lam Ching-shan, I don't have evidence to retort you

But let me tell you

He's our comrade

His death means more to me than to you

What an actor

You hear it?

I don't need your evidence

My men are outside

They can come in anytime to get you

Ching-shan

Wing-shing, I can let him go

But you have to guarantee

You won't get involved with these Red bandits again

Wing-shing, Brother Fu is injured

I have to escort him to safety

lp Man, to you, Wing-shing counts less than her brother's killer?

Lp Man, run

Wing-shing, are you out of your mind?

If lp man goes with him

it'll mean he is their collaborator

He will be hunted all over the country

What will happen to you?

Cut it out

I feel sorry for you

lp Man, if you are asked to see Brother Fu taken away

You won't forgive yourself for the rest of your life

So, just go

Wing-shing, thank you

Brother Fu, come on

lp Man, you are a fool

If you go with him

you'll become accomplice of the communists and a wanted man

You won't be able to take care of your pregnant wife or see your own son

The world may be big But there won't be a place for you

Wing-shing will only have me to take care of her

You can do whatever you like with me

But if you harm Wing-shing

I'll never let you off

lp Man, it's too great a sacrifice for you to help me

Brother Fu, I still don't get it

What's all this about?

Why go against Dr Sun's directions

Why kill one another?

It's a pity Dr Sun died early

When their position was not secure Those in power needed our support

Now they are in control They want to get rid of us

Why this country is condemned to this vicious cycle?

Haven't we had hardship enough?

I have finally understood

We need a truly progressive revolution which can't be bestowed on us by heaven

We have to make it work ourselves There is no other way

Just pour your heart out

In every revolution

Countless young men like Wing-sing would have to be sacrificed

There's no happiness without sacrifice

Maybe we need drastic measures

Maybe we are a people beyond cure

We have too long a history

We need a potent drug

Halt

lp Man, I have to bid you goodbye

It's a long way to Tianjin from here

You take care

Brother Fu, Hunan and Jiangxi are rounding up communists

You have to be careful too

lp Man, having met you

is one of the happiest things in my life

Take care

Brother Fu, you still remember the queue-cutting incident?

Go

Wing-shing, it's been hard for you

Go in, come on

Uncle

We can't take it

Uncle, it's from Uncle Cheung Yam-tong

It's for Wing-shing's nourishment

Uncle, you raised me up

You won't even trust me on this?

Then may I be excused?

Till next time

Lam Ching-shan saw her back

And gave her so many things

This son of mine... I don't know what to say

He has not had a year of peaceful life

Just cut it out

Mother, don't worry so much

He's a martial arts adept

He'll be safe outside

Come on, go for your grocery shopping

Get a chicken for Wing-shing's nourishment

Mother, let me go with you

Why?

I want to take a walk

Let's go then

Boss, here you are

No, Commander Lam has paid it already

We don't need him to pay for us

But I can't charge you double

Commander Lam will get mad

Then we don't want it

What?

Let's go somewhere else

Miss, how can I answer to Commander Lam?

Boss, how much for the meat?

Make your pick, Commander Lam has already paid for it

Let's go home

What about the chicken?

Let's go home first

We can eat light

Ribs please Sure, what about this piece?

Wing-shing, just make do

Let me go to Canton to get you a chicken tomorrow

Father, no

I don't believe Lam Ching-shan can make people in Canton do his bidding

It costs a lot to go to Canton

We don't have much money

Save it for our rice

Too much nourishment is not a good thing

A light diet will do

The daughter-in-law of the lp family can't get a chicken in Sangyuan

What's he doing here with flowers?

Isn't that Mrs lp?

Wing-shing, your favourite

I said I wouldn't go to dinner with you

Flowers are not related to dinner

I won't take them

But look at you

What have you come to?

You used to be a modern woman

It's in the past, I am now lp Man's wife

Alright, I won't make it difficult for you

Alright

Boss, here you are

No, you don't have to patronise me

But if you insist on paying me double

I can't show my face

Then I don't want it

What? Mrs lp, it's already paid for

Master lp, please don't be mad

Take these all back

We'd rather starve than take his alms

Don't be mad, Mr Lam did it out of kindness

If you won't take them We can't answer to him

Indeed

Alright, I don't want to make it difficult for you

Go tell Lam Ching-shan to meet me in the restaurant

I need to talk to him What actually does he mean

Master lp

Come on

Do you call Lam Ching-shan a loyal man?

For the sake of his friend's wife

He gave up his career in Canton and moved back here

So that he could take care of her around the clock

I'd say he sees his friend's wife as his own

I don't call this loyalty.

He's trying to steal a brother's wife

You do have a point

It's said they used to be lovers

lp Man may be a hero He can't escape being a cuckold

The bill please Coming

Uncle, I am sorry

Why are you leaving? Am I not wanted?

Ching-shan, let me reason with you

Uncle, you raised me up

How would I dare reason with you??

Please sit down

Waiter, tidy it up, be quick

Some way to do business

Uncle, what is it? Just go ahead

Ching-shan, Man is Wing-shing's husband

What you are doing is embarrassing him

What have I done?

Uncle, how can you see it this way?

I've always regarded you as a man of cultivation and profound knowledge

How can you have such a dirty thought?

Uncle, let me ask you

Is Mr Cheung Yam-tong your friend Has he given you gifts?

Yes

See? Would you think he covets your wife?

I'm just taking this as an example

Uncle, take it easy, don't get upset

You are the head of the family

If anything happens to you

what will happen to Auntie? What will happen to Wing-shing?

Uncle, have some tea, don't get upset

You look so mad, you are just over-suspicious

Waiter, get us your best tea

What is it?

You look so weird?

I am no hero material

I don't know martial arts

I am not half as good as lp Man

I can't even handle a chopper

What has Ching-shan done?

He had harsh words for you?

Lam Ching-shan...

Let me go to him

Lam Ching-shan...

Auntie, your favourite tea... Enjoy

Auntie, the dum sum is from Hangzhou

Just order your favourite

You still remember my favourite food How very nice of you

I have covered every angle with Uncle

Just ask him what I have said

Enjoy the tea

This really is very good

Sir...

Sir...

What is it?

Could I hitch a ride?

To Langfeng, or Zhangjiakou

I am sorry, not the same direction

Thank you

Hey, young man, wake up

You passed out here

Come on, have some water

Thank you

Young man, where are you going?

Langfeng

Oh, it's just in front

Really?

That's great...

You look like you have walked a long way

You can't wait to go there

There's something urgent?

I just can't wait

Thank you for the water

I have to carry on

Hey, it's still some way to go

It means several miles

I have a bun here, take it

No...

Take it, we all come into difficulties when out on the road

Just take it

Sir, what's your name?

What name?

You... are not an emperor travelling incognito

What's the point?

I want to remember you

I am just a farmer, cut it out

Just go, it's getting dark. Just go

Thank you

Just go

Brother, turn when you reach the boulder

Mother...

You are home

Look, remittance from lp Man

How's Man?

He sent us 25 coppers from Langfeng

Sender: Lp Wing-shing

It's Man... Langfeng, it's so far away

He must have suffered a lot

Has he exposed himself? Will he be safe?

He shouldn't be in Langfeng

He has Lam Ching-shan to worry about

He is on the run but he still has us in mind

I can only pray that he's safe

Man is blessed, heaven will take care of him

You alright?

Heaven, bless us...

You think lp Man will come back?

I don't think so

For Cheung Wing-shing

Lam Ching-shan won't let him come back

Oh yes, Lam Ching-shan

Right

What are you talking about?

Freeze

Freeze, what are you talking about?

Rumourmonger? Get them

I... what have we done? We have done nothing

We have done nothing

Just go...

Let me warn you

Mr Lam and Miss Cheung Wing-shing are innocent, they have no illicit affairs

Whoever dares to smear Mr Lam has committed a crime

He'll be thrown into prison

Give way

Give way

Master lp, where's Lady lp?

Lady lp, please ask your daughter-in-law to help my husband

What happened?

Wing-shing

Mother

Mrs lp

Get up first... come on

Mrs lp, we are country folks

We get what we know from others

My husband heard some rumours about you and Mr Lam

He's a big mouth

He knows his mistakes now

Please ask Mr Lam to set him free

Please, I beg you, Mrs lp

Get up first

Ching-shan

I know, the man has been set free

I am chastising Li

Make no hasty arrests again

Yes

I just want a peaceful life

I know, don't worry

I'll get those real rumourmongers

They will be severely punished

Wing-shing, I won't let you be embarrassed

Li, to avoid misunderstanding

You see Wing-shing out

Yes

I am home

You are home

I have cashed Man's remittance

Wing-shing is too frail

Right

You go to Canton to get her a black chicken

I don't believe I can't get a chicken that far away

Don't worry

I will get a chicken however far I have to go

We have money left. Let's get our grandchild a good midwife

Good idea

You are back

What is going on?

Just go, come on. Come home soon!

Master lp, what happened?

Master lp, any comments?

What happened?

Wing-shing, have some tea

Mother, thank you

Wing-shing, give me your leg

No, it's not right

It's alright. I know about pregnancy

Is it here?

See? So many reporters outside

How can I go out?

This is too much

Reporters are educated How can they do such a thing?

Indeed

They are harassing us Wing-shing is a pregnant woman

It's Lam Ching-shan's doing

I am sorry, I've brought you such trouble again

Wing-shing, it's not your fault

You are a victim, I understand

Master lp, any comments?

Commander Lam here, come on

Come on...

Commander Lam...

Give way...

Uncle

You have the nerve to come here?

Why not? I was once a family member

Uncle, you see it

There are so many strangers here

We shouldn't wash dirty linen in public

Let's talk inside

Auntie, Wing-shing

It seems we've had some misunderstandings

Ching-shan, what do you want?

Wing-shing is heavy with child

It's shameless of you

What are you talking about?

We don't hit people who show respect!

You don't like me to bring you gifts

So I came empty-handed

I was here to talk about lp Man
