that caught my eye

amazing waterfall.

At first
they all went on

and then,
all of a sudden,

I'm like,

They're all dancing now."

That's what
we tried to do.

We're trying to make it,
you know, dance to the music.

Audra put in a lot of time
and work into this.

I'm telling you,
you're a dream team.

So what do you
call this?

This is actually
a pixel forest.

It is precise to a tee.

From every angle I look,
it's perfection.

And that's something
I'm noticing

throughout
your entire display.

The meticulous nature
of everything.

There's 252 stakes here
with 15 pixels high

for 3,748 pixels
in just this section alone.

And a lot of programing,

probably 3,748 hours
of programing, too, right?

That's what it feels
like sometimes.
Yeah.

So, Taniya, we didn't put
many holes in our house

to display
all of these props.

When you're looking

at these matrix frames
on the columns,

they actually
have bungee cord...

Oh, nice.
...going around it
to hold it.

I can see
the bungee cords now

only because
he pointed it out.

But that's really,
really smart,

and it's probably a lot easier
to take them off.

Absolutely.

So that's cool.

But what I'm really digging
right now

is this whole, like,
red-carpet effect happening.

This is awesome.

So what you're looking at
is our Faith River.

This is 25-feet long
and it's 8-feet wide.

And you propped it up
off the ground.

We wanted to elevate it

so that you can actually make
sure you see it from a distance.

I've seen pixels
on matrix before,

but it's usually up
on the house.

I've never really seen it
as, like, a runway

or a river,
as you put it.

We're trying to do something
different but innovative.

The effect of it is
really, really cool.

that gorgeous roof.

You guys have
these snowflakes,

but they look like
they're propped up a little bit.

How do you think
that they're sitting up there?

I don't know.

I think you have
little elves doing this

behind each one.

We're going to tie in
one of my other hobbies.

So not only bodybuilding,
but I'm a fisherman.

you won't be able to figure out
how they're being suspended.

And I like the fact

that you're not putting holes
in your house.

we're doing is trying

to put density into the show.

There used to be
leaping arches,

but it wasn't getting
the job done.

There's 319 pixels
in each one of those,

compared to what was 50
in just the leaping arches.

So you really filled it up.

Speaking of filling up
with lights,

this tree is so awesome.

I love the wings.
What a fun touch.

Well, in high school,
I did a lot of set design

and built sets,

and I actually did
lighting and sound.

The motor is actually
a windshield-wiper motor

out of a vehicle.

These here are sprockets
off a bicycle.

This is a chain
off a bicycle.

And these here
are actually hair ties.

Using them for a rubber band
to keep the chain tight.

I like it.

Oh, look at that.
It's so cute.

Everything's so playful
and fun and happy.

Oh, guys,
this is so pretty.

And I'm noticing that
this track graduates in height

so that you can see it
from the street.

It takes your eye
through the display,

but that's the element that
brings it to the board game.

That's what makes it
Candyland.
Yeah.

I have a piece of track
if you want to take a look at.

Yes.

The first layer
is a transparent vinyl.

The next layer is
a frosted shower curtain.

So that distributes
the light?

Yep.
Distributes the light.

And we put the aluminum foil
in there.

Kind of like a flashlight,
you know,

just to help
disperse the light.

Reflected. Impressed.
Well, thank you.

We are gonna keep on moving.

Let's move on down
the track.

Well, Taniya,
I see you've made it

to the Licorice Hills.

Well, well, well.
Look at you.

Don't you look just
like Lord Licorice?

There's this moment here.
It's got this sort of like --

like a little bit
of an evil moment here

compared to all the happiness
in Candyland.

I love the theatrics
behind it all.

You've got the red mega tree,
which adds that drama.

- Mm-hmm.
- I love it.

The gingerbread-player
pieces actually move

as the game is played.

Why do those look like
roller-blade wheels
or something?

They are roller-blade wheels.

And then we use another 12-volt
motor from the windshield wiper.

And then the chain is actually
from a garage-door opener.

It's just such a fun element
to your display,

and it makes it become,
like, a living board game.

Yep.

It's advancing,
but I have to beat you.

Alright. I'm not supposed
to get stuck

in the Chocolate Swamp.
Nope.

If I was gonna get
caught in anything,

I'd want to get caught
in the Chocolate Swamp.

But I am determined to make it
to the finish line.

Well, you've officially

Look at how massive
this structure is.

It's 27-foot tall from
the top of that orange flag.

Did you notice
the windows?

They glow just like
the track does.

It's made the same way.

This is a no-joke,

no-messing-around
structure.

It's legit.
Oh, definitely.

This display was incredible.

This was like opening up a board
game and stepping inside.

The lights, the action,
the movement, the candy --

it was all sweet.

I just walked
through a real, live,

super-sized board game.

But it doesn't just stop
at Candyland.

Your whole entire house

looks like it's frosted
with lights.

You had a lot of DIY
that was done in a way

that I've never
seen before.

The best part is it makes
you feel like a kid again.

It's surreal
that you're even here.

You know,
I've probably seen

every episode three
or four times,

and me and Clayton,
from six years ago,

we're like,
"Oh, wouldn't it be awesome

if we could be
on "The Great Light Fight"?

We both enjoy building things
and seeing the joy

that it brings to people
that see what we've built.

Well, I have no doubt
in my mind

that you guys are playing
this game to win.

Once I got old enough to start
buying stuff, forget it.

It was on.

Now I'm wondering, what are

They're dressed up.

I'm a volunteer fireman
for 31 years.

My daughter joined
two years ago.

I put 31 years in so far.

And, you know,
it's what I do for my community.

over this from my dad,

And these are two
of the original pieces.

You know, when I put
these out every year,

it definitely
touches my heart.

The year before
I even started decorating,

I dressed up
when I was in sixth grade

on the school bus

I started doing it for the
firehouse, for the community.

It's an honor to suit up

to play the jolly
old St. Nick himself.

And there's just so many
variations of Santa Clauses,

and I tried
to get every one.

my heart a little close

the first manger

45 minutes south...

And I pieced it together
at different stores.

This is the most
real-looking snow ever.

There's a snow machine
up on the roof.

So I made
the oscillating part

basically out
of a used reindeer

that you put out
in your yard.
Yeah.

Cut it up and took the neck
and got it to oscillate.

Then we use the motor
back over here

on our little
teeter-totter guys.

Oh, so cute.
The kids must love this.

Oh, yeah.
The kids are just a blast

when they come out here
and check this stuff out.

And we got
a water tower here.

Yeah.
From scrap metal.

That's amazing.
Nothing goes to waste.

that we did.

When we got it,
the prop didn't do anything,

so I decided
to put a motor on it.

So it kind of has a little bit
better effect to it.

to look at everywhere.

About how much of this display
is recycled pieces?

Close to about 80% or 90%.

it's an actual pond.

the snow going

and you have the ice,
you start to feel colder,

like you're not
in sunny California.

Another thing
we found in the trash.

I love recycling stuff.

Those are penguins
that my mom found

at a thrift store,
so I did my thing to it,

and we got them turning.
Of course you did.

That's what you do.
There's nothing
I can't build.

That's what Marty does.

This train -- It is just
the coolest thing ever.

It's my pride and joy
is my train.

Is this more scrap metal?

Yeah. It's off of an old truck,
actually.

of this.

You put the little switches
and everything in the door,

and even the rivets
are so cool.

You got a couple
of switches

for a fan
and for the smoke.

Unbelievable.

That's a front headlight
for the train.

It's perfection.

Even the railings
and the chain.

This Ferris wheel
is unbelievable.

Even the sounds.

That is so wild to me.

It's all old-fashioned
scaffolding.

So I just cut it up
and made this out of it.

as doing the detail of

from behind in the metal.

fun elements in this display.

What Marty has done
with his hands

and his brain is astounding.

He invents and creates and makes
these amazing pieces

for his display and for his mom.

I can't even get over
everything that I saw.

Marty, you're amazing
and so talented,

and the fact that this is
a lot of recycled materials.

You find trash and you turn it
into a Christmas treasure,

and everything that you do,
it just shines bright.

And it's not just the lights.
It's your creation.

took Candyland out of the box

and made it into a life-size

What started when Shawn
was just 11 years old

created a cheerful
Christmas carnival

from their train
to the carousel.

Look how happy they are.
