Episode 12

Choi Eun Seol,

you know who I am, right?

You saw me before, right?

Officer Choi!

No, don't do it.

I'm asking you for a favor. Don't do it.

You will just be a criminal like him.

I'll have to go look for my dad first.

Dad! Dad!

Dad!

Dad...

Oh Cho Rim!

Oh Cho Rim, are you okay?

Cho Rim come to your senses.

Oh Cho Rim?

What happened? -Why is Cho Rim like that?

I think she's in shock. I'll have to go to the hospital.

I knocked Kwon Jae Hee out in front of the entrance.

You didn't kill him, did you?

Hurry, take her to the hospital. - Yes.

We are meeting each other pretty often these days.

What brings you here at this time of night?

There was a report that someone disappeared.

It's Oh Jae Pyo, and his cellphone signal was

detected somewhere close to your house.

Oh Jae Pyo...

is in your house, right?

Yes, he is.

What?

Oh Jae Pyo is in your house?

Yes.

He was having a glass of wine with me earlier but he got a little drunk so he's sleeping in my room.

We're going to go in and check.

I'll go in and bring him out. Why are you trying to go into someone else's house?

Just wait here a little bit.

I will bring him out.

Shit.

Chef Kwon.

You're awake. How are you?

Sorry, I got drunk without even thinking.

I'm so sorry.

No, it's fine. You should have something to eat.

Oh, I dropped it here.

No, it's okay. I'll eat when I go home.

Oh, okay.

There are some visitors for you outside.

What?

Visitors?

Yes.

Do you believe it? That Oh Jae Pyo is sleeping?

If it's a lie then...

Shall we just go in?

Let's do it before he runs away.

One...

Two...

Three...

This is Oh Jae Pyo.

Oh-oh, yes-yes.

My daughter must have reported this to the police but it's no big deal.

I got drunk

and I couldn't contact her.

Oh, yes.

Then I will be going now. Sorry for my disturbance.

Oh, yes, go home safely.

I will be going now.

What are you curious about?

It's nothing.

How's your breathing?

I'm more relaxed now.

How about throwing up?

I threw up earlier and I feel a lot better now.

If you feel dizzy or suffocated,

tell us right away.

Yes.

She's stable now.

I think she fainted due to shock.

Yes, thank you.

Yes.

I got contacted that your father is at home.

Okay.

Don't worry. Do you need anything?

I'm fine.

But I have to hear about what happened earlier at Chef Kwon Jae Hee's house.

You can hear that tomorrow. Just rest for today.

If you need me, call me. I'll be outside.

He called me Choi Eun Seol.

Kwon Jae Hee,

while calling me Choi Eun Seol, asked if I remembered him.

He really is the barcode murderer, right?

He has to be.

Do you think that...

Kwon Jae Hee was trying to kill me?

Anyway, you could have been in big trouble.

I actually have a thing where I can't see peoples faces or identify them.

You have already heard about prosopagnosia, haven't you?

Since it's not that unusual.

Kwon Jae Hee can't see or identify peoples faces.

He has prosopagnosia.

Is that true?

If you bump into him, he won't know who you are until he hears your voice.

After hearing the voice and thinking about past memories,

he remembers who the person is.

So when you bumped into Kwon Jae Hee earlier, he didn't know who you were?

He didn't know.

That's why I didn't say anything and just stood there.

You did really well on that. You could have been in real trouble.

If it wasn't for you Detective Choi,

I would have been in real trouble. Thank you.

Don't wear those clothes again.

He can identify people by their clothing not just their face.

Yes, I will.

I have something to say.

Me, too.

You know...

I know that I'm the witness.

And I know my real name is Choi Eun Seol.

You already knew.

Yes.

I should have realized it,

as soon as I heard that my real name was Choi Eun Seol.

But I realized it too late.

That I'm the witness.

And because my name is Choi Eun Seol...

Because of me,

your sister died.

I'm so sorry.

No. It's not your fault.

Even if you say it's not, nothing is going to change.

She died instead of me.

No.

That guy killed my sister.

It has nothing to do with you. Don't think about it like that.

I can't do that.

Because of that reason,

I realized a while ago that you wanted to stop seeing me.

It's a stupid reason so I can't accept that.

Cho Rim, don't think about anything else.

Just leave it all to me.

I will love you.

Just receive that love.

Just stay. Don't go anywhere.

No...

I'm too sorry.

I can't do that.

I dream again today.

Can't I be the one who is precious to you?

I am still in the same place.

[Trustworthy police, safe country]

Cho Rim is the witness to the barcode murder.

Why did you hide that? What's the reason?

I felt bad for Cho Rim who cruelly lost her parents.

I did not want to see a child who didn't remember anything,

just because she was a witness,

to be burdened by being dragged here and there

while trying to recover

her lonely memories.

Furthermore, if Cho Rim's memory did come back,

I wanted to catch that sinful criminal...

with my own hands.

Did you hear the situation about the investigation from the chief?

Yes.

And that's why you purposefully approached Kwon Jae Hee.

But I...

think I failed.

Now, that Kwon Jae Hee knows that your daughter is the witness,

I believe it would be better if you stayed away from Cho Rim.

We'll find a place for you to stay.

Please look after

Cho Rim.

Don't worry.

Then where will you be going?

When I arrive, I'll contact you.

Anyhow, are you really alright now?

Of course. I'm your daughter, I get better very fast.

I'm sorry that I can't be by your side.

Trust the investigation and follow them well.

Yes, Dad. Thank you so much.

Oh.

Don't be thankful.

I'll be going now.

Please take care of my daughter.

Stay safe.

I'll take you home.

It's okay.

Don't be like that. Lets go together.

It's the day time and there are a lot of people walking around my house.

I'm okay. I can go on my own.

Okay. Call me when you arrive.

Timing and Subtitles brought to you by The Sensory Team @Viki

Oh Cho Rim!

Are you okay?

Stay right where you are.

Are you ok? You must have been very shocked, weren't you?

What the heck actually happened here...

Drink this. You'll feel better.

Thank you.

We need to check if it was actually Kwon Jae Hee or a random thief who passed by.

Let's check if there's anything missing.

Look carefully.

I don't think there's anything special missing.

I'm saying, look properly.

The picture here...

The picture is gone.

Picture?

It's Kwon Jae Hee. He's the one who came by here. I'm sure of it.

Since the picture is not there, he surely did not recognize me.

Let's go.

Where?

It's dangerous. If you stay here, you'll be in danger.

I'm not asking you to leave because you're Oh Cho Rim.

You are also a victim who went through a lot of shock due to the killer.

You don't need anything here right now. So just come with me.

Stay here for now until it's safe.

I have a place to stay nearby so don't worry about me.

You suddenly got your house stolen by me...

No.

This is the key. I have one, too.

When you're at home, chain lock the door so only you can open it without the use of a key.

Don't open the door for anyone unless it's me and whenever you go out of the house contact me.

And about staying here, don't tell anyone, even your dad.

Okay.

I'm going to always be here, only 3 minutes away, so don't worry.

Well, this place won't be as good as your house, but be comfortable.

Do you have anything to ask?

Do you really have somewhere to stay?

Yes. On the other side of the road, my sunbae lives there.

I'll go now. Relax.

Okay.

Relax here.

Yes.

Why are you standing? Sit down.

Relax here and sit down.

If there is something you need, you can just take your time as you pack.

No, I have nothing to take. Relax here.

Yes. Sunbae really doesn't like wasting his water.

But he let you sleep there and bought you dinner but doesn't let you wash your face?

It's funny, right?

It's a weird sunbae.

Aigoo, I'm going to be late for work. You're late for your appointment, too. Let's go.

Detective Choi, come quickly! The elevator is here.

There must be a lot of newly married couples living here.

You two really suit each other. You two must live well together.

About that- - Thank you.

Where are you going? I'll take you.

You said you were late, too. It's okay.

Okay. Only go to places with a lot of people and tell me when you arrive.

Yes. Don't worry about me.

I'll go now.

Yes, go.

The only quiet place is here. It's okay, right?

Yes, it's fine. I have a favor to ask you, so I contacted you.

Tell me.

I told you before... To catch the criminal, you can use me.

Have you thought about it?

Cho Rim, that is too dangerous.

Yesterday, Kwon Jae Hee went to your house and took your picture.

That is something really serious.

He could find you Cho Rim, the witness from that picture.

Chef Kwon doesn't know at all that I'm the witness.

So I will try. I will take my picture back.

What are you saying?

Even though you searched his house, you couldn't find any evidence?

There are no fingerprints, footprints. Nothing.

It is impossible to request for an arrest warrant for Kwon Jae Hee in this situation.

It's because we got rejected due to using a fake witness that time.

We don't have any evidence, and the witness does not remember anything.

Therefore, we cannot request the witness.

We know that Kwon Jae Hee is definitely the Barcode serial killer.

That's right. We know for sure but we don't have any evidence...

And Kwon Jae Hee's alibi for all the murders are pretty strong.

Ah, this is so frustrating...

Anyhow, shouldn't we put the witness, Oh Cho Rim into a witness protection program?

Oh right... If he searches for her with that stolen photo, she will be in trouble.

Oh Cho Rim herself said that she personally will get her photo back.

What did you just say? Oh Cho Rim?

Oh Cho Rim, what are you thinking?!

You know that Chef Kwon Jae Hee doesn't hold anything against me.

Therefore, I am the most safe as Oh Cho Rim.

Even so...this isn't how we should do it. It's too dangerous!

This isn't to protect anyone else, but myself.

I am trying to get my own photo.

In this situation, the only person who can get into Kwon Jae Hee's house is Cho Rim.

Before Kwon Jae Hee shows the picture to anyone else, we have to retrieve it first.

There is a program recording session at his house.

Today is our only chance.

While recording, there are many staff and there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Alright, fine. But only do as I say.

Understand? If you promise me that, I'll let you go.

I understand.

I will be waiting nearby. I will also give you a wireless transmitter. So you have to follow my instructions.

If I think that it is dangerous and tell you to stop, then you stop.

Alright.

This is a book-shaped camera.

See the lens here?

And the switch is right here.

These are the headphones for the wireless transmitter.

If you just put it in your ears, you're directly connected to us so you can talk and listen to us.

Try pressing it.

If Kwon Jae Hee were to ever find something out

and you can't talk,

you press this.

They're easy to use, but...Cho Rim, can you handle it?

If you can't do it, it's oka-

I can do it.

We heard that Chef Kwon Jae Hee goes to his study a lot, so we chose the book-shaped camera.

I see.

It's almost time for the recording.

Okay, I can do it. Please don't worry.

Hello.

Timing and Subtitles Brought To You By The Sensory Team @ Viki

Hello, Chef.

Hi, Cho Rim. You look so nice today.

Thank you.

I heard that they made a new show with you called

"Some Girl and Some Guy's, Some Cooking," which starts next week.

I'm doing it with you? It is an honor.

Yes. Let's do well.

Thank you.

Chef Kwon.

Yes. - Please check the ingredients and the script.

Okay.

The topic today is about 5-minute cooking, right?

The audience nowadays like to see the real thing, so we have to show them the real thing.

We will set a stopwatch while you are cooking.

What if I can't finish it in 5 minutes? It's hard.

That will be a blooper.

I understand. I don't want to make a mistake though...

Cho Rim!

Yes?

Please wish me luck so that I won't make a mistake.

Cheer up, Chef!

Yes.

Now, shall we rehearse?

Now let's check the time. It will just be 5 minutes.

Okay.

I will start.

Today's 5-minute cooking are

dumpling dough pizza and tofu salad.

You may think, "How do you make two meals in 5 minutes"?

I am going to start now.

Can you hear me?

Yes, I can.

We have exactly five minutes from now.

Go to the study. I will check the time.

Okay.

Use enough oil to cover a well-heated

frying pan, and then put in the dumpling dough..

And then after you put it in,

you have to flip it over and over until it is well-done.

I think oil smells the best out of all foods.

If you put it in the microwave with the remaining 1 minute and 30 seconds,

you'll get a delicious pizza dish.

How much time do we have left?

There are two minutes left.

During that time, we'll be making the tofu salad.

Wow, this is really working in five minutes.

You can make the salad during the live show.

Should I do that?

Let's start after Miss Oh Cho Rim shoots "Oh Cho Rim's Cook Room Generation".

Miss Cho Rim~

Miss Oh Cho Rim?

Miss Cho Rim?

What happened?

I'm okay.

Calm down, okay?

We still have two minutes, so you can calm down.

The camera is working.

Is the place okay?

Yes, it's good. Come out now.

Miss Cho Rim!

Have you seen Miss Oh Cho Rim? - No, I have not.

Where did she go?

Miss Cho Rim!

I'm so-sorry.

I'm sorry. My tights...

There were too many staff in the bathroom.

You have to start shooting.

Okay, I will prepare for it right away.

Miss Cho Rim, leave your wallet in the bathroom so you have an excuse to take back the camera.

Good job.

Did I do okay?

Do you have water?

Oh, water. Here.

You don't like pork rinds?

Yes, it is just my style.

That's a relief.

When I worked for the first time as a cop on my first investigation,

my senior bought me pork rinds.

So you mean today is also my first investigation.

Yup. But do you know why pork rinds?

No, I wonder.

Look at that.

I don't get it.

You see it shrinking, right?

Ah... So it means I got scared because it was my first time doing an investigation?

If you eat pork rinds, you won't get scared next time you go on an investigation.

Then I need to hurry and eat. I got so scared earlier.

Wait!

This one is perfectly grilled.

Be careful, it's hot.

What do you think about the fact that you became a detective because of your little sister?

What do you mean?

Well, you were supposed to stay in an aquarium among the fish, weren't you?

Do you have the aptitude for being a detective?

I don't know if I do,

but I just know I have to be one.

You're also supposed to be on stage to do your gag skits,

but you're always out on dangerous crime investigations.

Don't you want to go back on stage?

I guess I could go back soon. How about you?

Well, I wonder... Will I be able to go back?

What do you mean? Of course, you can go back.

When this case is closed, I want to go back.

To the aquarium where I lived among the fish,

to the house where I could see Jeju's sea.

When everything's over and I have to go back,

would you like to come with me?

You could just go and steal the picture Kwon Jae Hee has taken and tear it up.

Then he will steal another picture or think of another way to find Cho Rim.

Kwon Jae Hee can't recognize faces so he has no idea who the person is even by looking at the picture.

Kwon Jae Hee is using someone else to find the eye witness by showing the person the picture.

So if we change the picture to another woman, he won't be able to find her.
