And, uh, how much do
the extra 20 cost?

$3.6 billion.

Wow.

We're really gonna let them shake down

the federal government like that?

No, I wouldn't call it a shakedown.

These types of cost overruns

are a feature of defense contracting.

RUSSELL: Plus, the
different components

of the F-40 are assembled in 40%

of all congressional districts
nationwide.

Which partly explains
the cost overruns,

because logistically,
that makes absolutely no sense.

But politically,
it makes all kinds of sense.

They are the largest
defense contractor

in the world,
so to answer your question,

yes, we really are going to let
them shake us down like that.

RUSSELL: We need to find a home
for those extra 20 jets,

somewhere among
our friends and allies.

And we need to do it fast.
