EPISODE 13

Mr. Yoo.

Take a seat.

What do you want to eat?

It's okay. I just stepped out of a meeting.

Why do you keep looking around?

-Are we not allowed to meet up? -Well, it's too close to the office.

Will you be put on a watch list if we're seen together?

Is that what's happening nowadays?

It's not that.

I'm just a little wary. What brings you here?

I have a favor to ask of you.

-What is it? -Create new weapons for me.

I need more items as well. Whatever you can give me.

What for? The server is still shut down.

You'll have to put it back up for the showcase soon.

You want to play the game in this situation?

Aren't you busy with meetings with your lawyer?

You've been all over the news these days.

When can they be ready?

Sir.

I have no time to work on other things because of the showcase.

And if I give you access to the game again,

I'll get fired.

Also, Director Park...

I mean, the CEO. He scares me these days.

He's so hysterical.

Can't you do it for our friendship's sake?

It's a life-or-death matter for me.

Jeez, come on. How can it be a life-or-death matter?

Don't exaggerate.

I'm not exaggerating. I really don't want to die.

Gosh.

-I'll try to whip up some stuff. -Thanks.

But you'll have to take responsibility if I get fired.

Start a new company and give me the executive director role.

Sure, okay. If I manage to stay alive, that is.

JUNG HEE-JU

I'll call you back in a bit.

JUNG HEE-JU

May I ask you a question, sir?

-What? -What's your relationship with Ms. Jung?

She was alone in your hotel room the other day.

Are you dating her?

Do I have to answer that question?

What?

Sir, Emma is...

She's my favorite character.

So?

Seeing Emma is the only thing that brightens my day.

So what? Do I owe you an apology or what?

You still haven't deleted Emma? I told you to delete her.

-Do you want more food? -Yes!

People will think that you really got dumped.

I feel like there's a huge void in my heart.

You should get back to work. I'll be in touch.

Why did you buy so much food?

Share them with the guys.

-Everyone is well, right? -Yes, everyone's doing fine.

We always talk about you.

I'm off.

Oh, right. Have I told you this?

What?

A special function is programmed in Emma.

-Hi, Emma. -Hi.

Good morning.

-It's a beautiful day, isn't it? -It is, indeed.

You look extra stunning today.

Thank you. You look quite dashing today yourself.

I thought that she was just a healer who boosts your recovery if you talk with her.

Hey, guys! What are you doing now?

Hey! Do it outside. Why are you doing that here?

I told you to get out! What the hell. Hey!

This isn't a playground. Get out!

-Where did my sword go? -What happened?

-Mr. Choi, did you do something? -I didn't do anything.

THIS IS A DUEL-FREE ZONE

YOUR DUEL WILL BE CANCELED

YOUR DUEL WILL BE CANCELED

However, duels can't take place within 20m radius of Emma.

All weapons disappear.

Alcazaba Cafe is where users gather, you know.

Emma is there for peacekeeping purposes.

No duels can take place there.

It makes sense. You said Ms. Jung is his sister.

He obviously put a lot of thought into it as she is the model.

Mr. Yoo.

I'll cross the street.

It seems like Emma symbolizes peace.

Do you have any links to Alcazaba?

Alcazaba? You mean the Alcazaba at the Alhambra?

Alcazaba Cafe. Their churros are famous.

Oh, that cafe?

Yes, I do.

-Enjoy. -Thank you.

Thank you.

Boss, that table ordered two cups of coffee.

Thank you, Emma.

I worked there part-time before the owner changed.

The owner and I were close.

I occasionally played the guitar there at night as well.

That was before I gave up playing the guitar.

Why are you asking about Alcazaba Cafe?

-Then Se-ju must know that cafe as well. -Of course, he does.

He used to stop by to get his allowance from me.

Why?

Just curious.

Why did you come outside?

Shouldn't you be meeting your attorneys?

Why bother? It's a meaningless investigation.

The rumors are not true.

But shouldn't you still be prepared?

I'm preparing what I can.

YOU HAVE ARRIVED AT ALCAZABA CAFE

WOULD YOU LIKE TO ENTER?

Alcazaba Cafe.

From the beginning, I was able to guess

that the error probably began here.

The place where it rains and thunders every day

and where "Memories of the Alhambra" is played.

Hello, Emma.

To be more specific,

it could've started from Emma.

What?

It's only fair that I take 70 percent,

and you take 30 percent.

Hey.

Hey! I've warned you to never spew such bullshit again.

Say it once more, and it'll be the 100th time.

What do you think will happen after that?

Jeez, you piece of...

Get going now. Cha Hyeong-seok will be here shortly.

I might not sell the game.

-What the... -I deserve 70 percent.

I created the whole thing.

If I decide not to sell it, you won't get any money.

Fuck, you little prick.

-I'll meet Cha Hyeong-seok too. -What will you do?

Let's meet him together.

We should meet him together.

All right, fine.

Okay.

Let's do that. I heard you. Go ahead and meet him.

Stutter all you want like a total idiot in front of that rich dude.

I don't care.

Happy now?

Is he not here yet?

Why isn't he here yet?

I've clearly warned you to behave yourself.

Shouldn't you be grateful if anything?

Are you going to keep acting up?

Keep your mouth shut, or I'll kill you in front of your sister.

The moment he stabbed Se-ju with a real knife in front of Emma...

What's going on?

Is this another lag?

Where are you going?

What? You want to report me to the police?

-Come here. I'll take good care of you. -No.

So don't act up again.

You got that?

Get back here.

You idiot.

Fuck!

Have you lost your mind? You shot me with a real gun.

No. This...

This isn't...

Come here.

You're dead meat.

What's going on? Why isn't he here?

I'm not sure, sir. He's not even picking up.

Perhaps Emma is the only witness.

The last person who witnessed how those two vanished from this world.

I need your help with something.

Go to the hotel and meet someone for me.

Who?

Emma.

YOU HAVE ENCOUNTERED A NEW CHARACTER

From now on, only I will be playing this game.

Only users I allowed and myself.

Unless you want to go bankrupt, you must follow my instructions.

Please get rid of my user ID that's logged in right now.

Yes, right now.

If you're done checking,

should I shut down the server?

It's still under inspection.

-No, leave it. -I haven't reported to Mr. Park yet

because it's nighttime over there.

Just leave it!

I'll talk to him myself.

So just leave it open.

Okay.

Yes, sir.

Everything was just Jin-woo's delusion.

He told me that the NPCs started attacking him in Granada.

And that he had recovered his leg.

But when I checked the CCTV footage in Granada...

He was limping?

Yes. He was probably so immersed in the game

that it tricked his brain.

That's why he thinks it hurts

when he gets stabbed by a knife and also thinks his leg is fine.

Jin-woo...

is definitely not normal

TESTER103: LEVEL 1, ATTACK 30 DEFENSE 50, NO WEAPON

How...

How could this be possible?

I asked myself that question every day for the past year.

Okay, great.

Give me a little smile.

Okay, let's try a different pose.

It's good for your skin. Let's all become young.

Okay, have the next outfit ready.

Okay.

This is so annoying.

-When is this going to end? -I have an announcement.

-Hey, look. -I am the detective in charge of the case.

About ten minutes ago,

-the respondent told -Did he show up?

that he cannot attend the questioning.

What? What kind of trick is he trying to pull?

He probably got scared and didn't show up.

We'll tell you more about the investigation later on.

Can you tell us your name?

-Can you repeat that? -Why couldn't he show up?

Will Ms. Lee Su-jin be coming today?

Yes, she'll be attending the questioning as scheduled.

When will she show up?

She's already here as a testifier.

-Can you repeat that? -Can you tell us why

-Mr. Yoo didn't show up? -No.

I can't tell you the details.

Why can't you tell us the details?

-Please tell us. -Can you tell us?

-Why didn't he show up? -Tell us.

I don't think Mr. Yoo is going to show up today.

I just checked. The police are making an announcement.

-Why all of a sudden? -I'm not sure why. I'll have to check.

You won't have to confront him today.

YOO JIN-WOO FAILS TO ATTEND POLICE QUESTIONING

What is he thinking? Is he just being reckless?

But won't he get arrested if he continues not to show up?

MR. YOO

Mr. Choi, are you done with your meal?

Hello? Mr. Yoo, what are you doing?

Things are out of control on the news and in our company.

Where can I find high-level players?

-What? -I need to level up.

I don't have time to fight small fries.

Where can I fight high-level players?

Mr. Yoo, are you playing the game right now?

I don't think you should be playing the game right now.

The entire country's talking about you.

Did you make the weapons?

That's not what's important right now.

Mr. Yoo.

Hello? Mr. Yoo.

I told you it's important to me. My life depends on it.

I'm doing this because I don't want to die, so help me out.

If I die, you won't be able to become an executive.

Here's a map where you'll find high-level players.

Should I head to the company?

No, let's go to Professor Cha first.

-It's far away, so it'll take a while. -Drive.

Reschedule the meeting to tomorrow.

Tell them I need to meet Professor Cha first.

Okay, sir.

Professor.

Professor, it's me.

I came straight from the airport.

Mr. Oh filled me in,

and I also heard that Jin-woo didn't go in for questioning.

Did something happen?

You met Jin-woo this morning, didn't you?

Why did you suddenly ask to open the server,

and what are you doing here?

I heard you canceled your classes as well.

-I ran away. -Pardon?

My son was so terrifying

that I had to run away.

I was scared...

out of my wits.

No way...

Did you really see him too?

You saw Hyeong-seok?

Was Jin-woo telling the truth?

How could I ever say

that Jin-woo was right?

Who could possibly ever say it?

Could you?

Shouldn't we shut down the servers then?

If Jin-woo is right, the game is too dangerous to play.

Leave it.

He made his choice.

He said he'd sort this out in his way,

so leave him be.

But...

What about the re-investigation?

Shouldn't you shut it down?

Jin-woo isn't guilty.

Everyone is talking about it now, so we should sort that out first.

About that...

It's already too late to sort that out.

Pardon?

What do you mean by that?

I guess...

I shot myself in the foot.

The whereabouts of Yoo Jin-woo, former CEO of J One, are turning heads.

Former CEO Yoo

was to be questioned by the police today

regarding the death of Cha Hyeong-seok,

However, he was absent without any notice.

Instead, witnesses have posted on social media

that he has been wandering the streets of Seoul.

It's time for your pills.

You should sit up.

What is he going to do?

He's been wandering the streets instead of going to the police.

What is he thinking?

People must be right about him losing his mind.

MR. YOO

The number you have dialed is unavailable. Please leave a message after the beep.

It seemed like it really hurt.

-You were mistaken. -Are you sure?

Is this place like Granada?

MR. CHOI YANG-JU

-Hello? -Yes, hello.

-Hi, Ms. Jung. This is a surprise. -Where's Mr. Yoo?

He isn't answering his phone.

I heard that game users can be tracked when they're logged in.

I've been keeping an eye on him since he's been moving about.

Right now, he's in Myeong-dong.

Can I find him if I go there?

Of course.

I'm glad you're here. I was on a break, you see.

You can keep me company for an hour.

That's all I need to recover.

How's your grandma? Is she out of the hospital?

Yes.

I want to find Se-ju fast, but it's not easy.

I'm only at level 95.

It's hard to level up when you're a high-leveled character.

Did you bring your car?

Like I said, it's dangerous.

Log out immediately.

EMMA HAS LEFT THE GAME

Don't log on unless you're near Emma.

How can you live like this?

This is the only way.

Don't worry though.

I'm the highest-level user now.

They all tremble when they see me.

Did you get to know Emma more?

No.

Talking to her isn't easy.

She disappears after one sentence

and reappears after quite a wait.

She's programmed to appear randomly.

Take your time with her. I won't be done soon anyway.

I don't know what to ask or what to look for.

I don't know either.

I'm just as clueless too.

Still, you'll have a better idea

of what she'll want to hear.

I don't know about what I should tell her,

but I did see...

Did you see something?

It's nothing big. Just her right hand.

Her hand?

The bracelet and ring on her right hand seemed awfully familiar.

I know that I've seen it before.

At first, I thought it was one I had,

but it belonged to Fatima.

What do you mean?

The Hand of Fatima is at the Alhambra.

It's right above the first gate known as the Gate of Justice.

I know it well since I explained it many times as a tour guide.

I think Se-ju got the idea from my guidebook.

Here you go.

Make sure you go straight home, all right?

Isn't this my guidebook? Why do you have it?

I need it to create an item.

An item? What's that?

You'll see. It's going to be awesome.

For a while, he carried around my guidebook.

The Hand of Fatima was the motif for the accessory.

What exactly does the illustration mean?

Fatima is Mohammed's daughter,

and the Islamic people believe

that her hand it is the Key to Heaven.

That is why there's a legend about the Gate of Justice.

On the day the Key to Heaven meets the hand of Fatima,

the gate will open and the palace will crumble.

Hold on.

Did you just mention a key?

Yes, the Key to Heaven.

There are two illustrations on the Gate of Justice.

The Hand of Fatima and the Key to Heaven.

This is called the Gate of Justice.

It's also the first entrance to the Alhambra.

Everyone, can you all see the carving over there?

Over there.

You will see an illustration of a key.

That is the Key to Heaven.
