and I want to do that for somebody.

When my daughter was born,

she had an emergency and her umbilical cord

was actually wrapped around her neck

and then she came to.

So every time I hear this song,

I think, she can come and find her dad's hand

Last year, I went through one of the worst depressions

Then my husband, he was very good

about, um, always finding my hand.

I was never by myself and...

he was just that person.

You see that? That was awesome, guys.

That's how you do it. It's so good.

And you can give it even more.

The way you sung the very last line,

I would sing the verse like that. Okay.

'Cause it had dynamic to it.

But don't be afraid to reach out

and give a bit of grit on some of the ends of notes,

'cause it's very easy to get all in your head

about this note and that note.

That's what I'm having trouble with.

I just get nervous easily. You've got no reason to be nervous.

You're hitting all the notes.

Just hit them with more determination. Dope.

I love Brailey's tone.

I love the attitude that she's got in her voice,

but I don't think she fully trusts her voice yet,

and I don't think she's got any reason to think that way.

Have confidence and go and show it off.

I paired Crystal and Caitlin together

because Crystal is more R&B and Caitlin's more country.

Opposites attract, differences are better.

If it had been the same, it'd have been redundant.

So what y'all been doing since I saw you last?

Well, I have been practicing a lot.

I didn't realize how nervous I would be up on that stage,

and so I've been doing, like, breath training.

Yeah, singing is the only place

we have to think about breathing.

That is so true.

I can't imagine being up like y'all did in front of people

that are in the business.

When you turned around, I was like, bleh, bleh.

My blind audition,

I definitely blacked out for half of it.

It was just such a whirlwind.

I've had wonderful coaches,

and I think I can help you out with some of the things

that people have been so sweet to teach me.

And we're both redheads.

I'm choosing my fellow redhead, Reba.

I am literally a one-woman show. It's exhausting at times.

I started songwriting when I got to Nashville,

and I make my own merchandise.

Whenever I release a song,

I make a painting that kind of represents

a visual representation of the song I've written.

She is one of my biggest idols and always has been,

It's such a storytelling song with not that big of places,

And Crystal's range is great.

Her power is wonderful.

They complemented each other.

the song carries memory,

and that's the beautiful thing about music.

It carries with it memory.

And for me, it means so much more,

because my mom passed away to cancer,

so when I hear certain types of music,

it's like she's kind of with me.

It was probably the most devastating thing in my life.

She was a fan of "The Voice." She absolutely loved Reba.

It's good to know that she would approve of me being here

and of Reba choosing me.

It's a bittersweet blessing.

Performing "Only Girl"

for my blind was a very vulnerable experience,

because it's a song that I wrote.

I'm a singer-songwriter in the music industry.

I've been that for 20-plus years now,

and I've never actually sang it myself

outside of just recording the demo for Rihanna.

And Rihanna does such an amazing job with it,

so I was absolutely terrified.

And thankfully, Reba heard something

that nobody else heard that day.

I heard a very powerful, strong voice.

I applaud you, and I am thrilled to death

that I get to be your coach.

She gave me a motherly thing.

I haven't had that in a few years, so...

it means a lot.

I think leaning towards Caitlin for me,

because just the storytelling of it

and you gave across a flawless vocal.

it was just really exciting that I could share that with her.

This is where I always get kind of nitpicky,

just because the genre is, like, all about runs and acrobatics,

but that has to come from the lyric.

Yes. Individuality comes through

when it's coming truly from the heart.

I've never performed "Have You Ever" before.

Just saying, "Have you ever loved somebody

Really hits on a different level for me.

I lost my grandfather a year ago.

He was one of my closest friends,

and for me, it just didn't feel real.

My grandfather was a gospel producer,

and it's because of him,

the reason why I am singing today.

Getting to the knockouts

would just be another step closer to the dreams

that my grandfather had always envisioned for me.

The singing was ridiculous. Thank you.

But I think you can bring more of that character out.

Okay. Yes. You're gonna be on TV, and they're gonna cut

from some person in the audience to her,

to you, this and that. Yes.

You want to make them cry.

Yes. Right?

They're gonna cut in and you just got to be,

A little more animated, a little extreme.

And then for you, on a first chorus,

try to blend a little bit better with him

when you're doing the more background part.

I'm losing you a little bit, and it's not just volume. Gotcha.

You're too sharp and too intense,

and you're too soft and round,

and it's not gelling together in the choruses.

Working with Gwen, I'm learning so much.

I think next time, I'd love to see you

even give me a little bit more, just a little bit more body. Okay.

It's really about, how do you stand out so that

when you walk off the stage, they're like,

"My gosh," they can't forget you.

These gems that she's giving me, you don't get these every day,

so it's very important that I make it to knockouts,

'cause I don't want it to end.

How did you guys do it at such a young age?"

Because they had me at 16 and they got a house at 23.

I always, like, remind myself, you'll be fine.

I feel like with each stage of this competition,

I am growing even more.

I remember being 17, and I was not that prepared

or that bold.

It's just mind-blowing.

I'm still stuck on the fact

that you did your hand like this.

and I got caught up in the technical part

feel some type of way, but then I realized

I'm the one who got the prize.

I chose to sing "Without You" by Harry Nilsson,

the Mariah Carey version.

That's a serious song, too. Wow.

One of my earliest memories growing up

was my mom, when she would cook,

she would always have music on,

and this song came on.

I would literally watch Mariah Carey's version

over and over and over again, and I would see, like,

the crowd at the end, and they would go crazy.

And I just remember being like... like "I want that."

To think that I'm finally getting that moment,

it makes me emotional.

Mara has such a great voice, such a great tone.

I love how she's so tethered to the classics

and some of those great songs

that have endured for a long time.

It gives her a chance to wail and sing

with passion and emotion.

And I think she'll be great with this song.

I think it's really hard to sing that low

and that high all in the same song.

I'm a mom and a grandmother, so I want to come up there

and just take you and just do this.

My life coach does this to me and just says, "Breathe."

It was a little strained at times.

And you have to take your time, too.

I think even fewer runs than what you were doing.

I'm always like, less is more with runs.

And squeeze your butt. I do that when I hit high notes.

Yeah, honestly. Squeeze your butt.

It actually helps.

My coach says do front and back support,

and back support is your butt. Yes.

The thing that I need to focus on in order to win this

is really taking my coach's and Wynonna's advice

and really, like, soaking that in and then delivering it.
