fresh reports have reached
us about Robin Lee Graham,

the 17 year old Californian,

who is attempting to
sail around the world

in a 24 foot sloop - 23 foot.

- [Radio] Because of the recent storm,

the boy's parents expressed
anxiety for their son's safety

and asked authorities for help,

a Navy plane sighted
Dove early this morning,

some 132 miles Southeast of Suva

and now it looks as if all
as well for the young sailor,

grave concern was expressed
this afternoon over a report,

that rhinoceros beetles
had been discovered

on a corporate plantation on (indistinct)

- Just over a year.

- I'm sort of going to
Australia little by little.

- I don't really know, I just
have a feeling about Australia

and my intuition tells
me I'm going to make it.

- How reliable is your intuition?

- Pretty good.

No really, I don't know how to explain it

but I sometimes have the feeling

of being able to see a little way ahead,

that's a time of sort of a path

and I could pick out my
footprints before I made them.

- What if you just don't like
Australia once you get there?

- That's all right I can always leave,

I'm good at leaving places, I
hope your hangover is cured.

So from Honolulu to
Fenning island to Tonga to Fiji,

so from here I head on
over to the Solomon Islands,

then on over to Australia
and I cross the Indian ocean,

to Portuguese East Africa, Mozambique,

that's Thera to the wrinkle marks,

then I work on down
to Durban, South Africa,

work myself around
the coast to Cape town,

I cross the Atlantic to Panama,

after that I've got it whipped,

over the Galapagos islands
and back to Los Angeles.

- Just like that?

- Well, that's what I plan to do.

- How long will it take you?

- I don't know, I don't
mind I've got plenty of time.

- You must have a
great mother and father,

let you go off by yourself like they did.

- Well, we did have
a little flak from mom,

quite a bit as a matter of
fact but between the two of us,

dad and I broke her down,
my dad taught me to sail,

he's a great sailor.

- You're pretty lucky.

- Yeah, I know.

I kept asking myself where
I was heading back home,

I just had to get out and
see what else was going on.

- I don't think I could do it your way,

I mean, I really love the ocean

but I don't think I'd like to be a loner.

- No, see that's the great part,

I mean, I can just set
a course and then I go

and when I get out there,

it's just the boat and me and the sea,

when I'm out there I
feel like this big bird,

coasting on the thermals,
I can feel every wave,

I can feel every change of wind,

without even thinking
about it, I can just soar.

- Yeah, I guess I did,

yeah but carrying on like
that is really a waste of time.

I didn't really care about
you sailing around the world,

if I were you and I only wish I were,

I'd sail Dove across to Ecuador,

sell her there and use the
money to have a holiday,

before you and Patti
fly home to LA, love dad.

who also happens to be a superb cook

is wonderful with children and is also

but there comes a
time in a young girl's life,

when she decides that
maybe might be a good idea,

Ecuador to find a buyer,

then we'll be on our way home.

I did sail three quarters of
the way around the world,

you can't win them all.
