challenge with confidence

and a solid supply of resources.

Being here has
been such a blessing.

We've been able to
replenish ourselves, get food,

yards away, new arrivals,

are taking full advantage

you found the bananas last night?

Duke: Yep. So, I think
I grabbed plantains,

and there's a small
bunch bananas

right as we walked into
this one on the outside.

Do we want to grab those?

Yeah, we might as well.

Gabrielle: Our
shelter is constructed

so now we're
gathering resources.

We are harvesting as
much as we possibly can,

especially bananas
and sugar cane.

This is the sugar cane.

This is a really
precious commodity.

We spent the first
almost week and a half

in a really barren area.

We're all feeling pretty
good about our spot right now.

[ Grunts ]

I think that's a
pretty good haul.

- Dang, sugar queen!

but we are always
looking for more resources.

the lone remaining member

of the all-female team.

and honestly I feel
like complete [bleep]

She became, you
know, my friend out here

more so than a teammate,

and I just felt like
we could do it.

Now I'm the only one left,

and I did my first
challenge by myself.

I think this is a very
low point for me.

I hear yelling and screaming,

and they're coming
down the beach.

Three bad-asses looking

It's been a long road here.

but at the same time,

our hearts dropped
because being alone out here

would be unbelievably difficult.

James: We're on a new beach,

and we've met
Rylie which is great.

It might afford us the
opportunity to fish better.

We have more hands
to collect the firewood.

Duke: So, how are you feeling?

When Christina left,
when you think about,

like, there's 30 more days,

and myself having
to do it by myself,

it's incredibly
daunting to think,

how am I gonna pull this off?

You know, I wanted to build
something with my teammates,

and now they're both gone.

Well, what do you think? We
should probably adopt Rylie.

[ Laughter ]

I'm adopted!

The fact that I have been,

you know, adopted into a
group and not only any group,

but a group that really
suits me, I got very lucky.

So, hopefully on day 40,
we all walk out together.

So, my indigestion
caused my stomach

to distend, which was
pushing up on my diaphragm

and my lungs so
I couldn't breathe.

It was causing all of my muscles

to tighten up 'cause
of lack of oxygen.

So, they got me in there,
and they laid me down,

and once I got calmed
down and relaxed,

caused me to release
that pressure that I had,

and I'm fine and dandy now.

Duck and I thought
you were gonna die

in our arms on the beach.

We we're like, "aw, geez."

It was getting there.

Russell: Last night
really scared me.

I have never experienced
that before in my life.

My body's weak
from all the cramps.

- Welcome back.

I'm glad you're feeling better.

Oh, yeah, I'm
definitely feeling better.

As soon as Russell
rolls up, it's awesome,

but it's concerning
because we currently

don't have a solid food source.

And we obviously need something
more substantial than fruit.

Resource-wise, we kind
of blew through this place

like a hurricane.

We have to get off this beach.

There's got to be a jungle, some
place with food and more water.

when we get out of here.

By land could be dangerous

right here at this beach,

and I think we're headed
in through this waterway

to that water source and
this cave system right here.

beach resources depleted,

the team of six will head 7
miles into the dense jungle,

towards this system of caves,

a path infested with thorns,
poisonous centipedes,

and Philippine pit vipers
whose camouflaged skin

creates a nearly
invisible and deadly threat.

- A lot of clouds rolling in.

It's gonna be a fun hike.

Collect any edibles
you see as we go.

I won't even need to wear
shoes anymore after this.

My feet are gonna
be bulletproof.

[ Thunder crashes ]

Charlie: I'm worried
about the storm coming up.

We're going at a good pace.

This is the type of terrain
that got me in Ecuador.

Now we're walking
inside this jungle,

and it's pouring
down rain, downpour.

I'm very careful
when I'm walking,

especially in the jungle.

My last XL challenge, I slipped,
and I severed my quad then.

To have gotten hurt so
quickly, it was devastating.

It's the first thing
I feel I failed at.

I have a scar that reminds

We're starting to have the
idea of migrating simply because

we know that our

which means that, like, tomorrow

will probably be
our last big, like,

resource collection day.

freshwater source here.

That looks like a big cave.

pretty obvious.

Trekking through the jungle,
there's safety in numbers,

more eyes to spot the dangers,

but also more noise to
scare the dangers away.

We were talking, and

heading for the jungle.

while our energy
levels are still high.

I mean, we want to
get closer to extraction,

and if we get 1/3 of the way,

rather than wait
here for two weeks

and maybe run out of
bananas, that's a no-brainer.

a recovery zone for us.

we've been rejuvenated.

Well, it's good

I did in the Marine Corps
right here in the Philippines.

and the same environment.

beach, I was in this.

We're about to leave this beach,

through a very, very dense jungle.

From what I understand,
it's tough to navigate.

There's about to be a lot more
dangling bananas in this jungle.

Got yellow flies out here.

I've already got stung right

where you don't
want to get stung.

- It is amazing once you leave

that beautiful, sandy beach
how quickly it turns into

dense, harsh jungle.

The last sound of the waves
are fading into the distance.

This place is so thick and
difficult to navigate and muddy.

We're in the thick of it now.

Laura and I spent 20
days in the jungle already.

We know what awaits us
in there, and it's not pretty.

what are we doing today?

We're pretty much doing it
until this rain stops at least.

It's cold and wet out there,

Other than grabbing firewood.

We're all a little bit tired.

on energy and you trek so much,

and it's the rain and it's cold,
so, today is rest, hydration,

firewood, and, you know, sleep.

Coming through the jungle,

we saw this gaping
hole in the rocks.

And it was a massive cave.

Maybe there's some nooks
and crannies throughout.

be space up here.

There's a nice cubby spot
here for maybe two people.

Oh, for sure.

Upstairs, there's a tiny,
little, cramped cavern

that Jeff and I actually like.

Small spaces are easy to
heat, it's pretty dry up there,

and it just makes
sense for us to be there.

This is a good score,
though. Good start.

Yeah, this cave is amazing.

I guess we're gonna have
to share a house, neighbors.

- Yeah.

It's a duplex, that's fine.

I feel my job is out
here trying to find food.

You know, he's got a little bit

About a 22-inch snake
that he fed all of us,

with some frog legs
to boot, so that's huge.

Charlie: I'm happy because
I was able to feed the team.

After a little while,
it might sink in.

on this flat ground,

and then this is

that there's water.

hooks to work in these streams.

That's got me intrigued
because eels like deep,

dark water with a lot of cover.

If there was ever an area
where there would be eels,

it would be at the
mouth of that cave.

Any eel coming through
here, it's gonna see my bait.

I'm gonna set up a whole
lot of passive fishing lines,

and they can be fishing for us.

They're gonna be our
employees working as we sleep.

I think that's the way to go.

It's nice firewood.
Look at how dry that is.

You see, firewood, you
got to go out and look for it,

so we're taking that back,
we're gonna cut it down,

stack it up, and then
try and gather the troops

to come help take it back.

and they'll come and
see what's going on.

And we are
conserving our calories,

They know there's a river.

I'm here tending the fire.

to stay to keep it going.

is incredibly
demandingly difficult.

You still have to
process it and dry it.

way, it is mostly dry.
